While visiting Indianapolis, my friends, Lynn and Mark, took me to their favorite restaurant a few blocks from their home, Bocca. This is the second time I've been here and both times were exceptional.
This time, we sat outside in their spacious patio setting. Our server, David, was polite, friendly and attentive. We started off with two appetizers, calamari and mussels. The calamari had an excellent lemon aioli dressing (very tasty!) and a marinara dressing on the side to complement the perfectly cooked calamari. The mussels were outstanding, served with a chili broth that was mouthwatering. My friends said dipping the bread in the sauce was almost an appetizer in itself. David, our server, concurred and brought us extra bread (twice!) so we could sop up the richness of the broth. I would come back just for this broth!
For our main entrees, my friends selected the Spaghetti Pomodoro (and added meatballs) and the Pollo Di Zio, a chicken breast stuffed with salami, prosciutto, spinach and mozzarella. I ordered the wild mushroom-stuffed Ravioli, which included ricotta, spinach and truffle cream, with braised button mushrooms on top. The presentation was a sight to behold and the taste, perfection!
We all had a great night here and I can see why it is my friends' favorite place. And, now mine, too. I look forward to my next visit to Indianapolis, with this restaurant gem being at the top of my list!
