After trying Bodega Bagel during their run at Vegas Test Kitchen, I was excited for them to open their own location. I went in this morning knowing that it was their first weekend and that there would probably be a few hiccups. What I experienced was so much worse though. The word disaster comes to mind.
We were sat quickly and excited to order. Their space is beautiful. But when the waitress took our order things took a turn. "What kind of bagels do you have today?" A simple question that seemed to completely flummox our server. She responded "the normal kind, I don't really know"... couldn't make it up if I tried. After the painful ordering experience, we waited. And waited. And waited some more.
55 minutes it took for our food to be delivered. She brings out 3/4 meals and then asks if we need anything else. Yes ma'am, I'd like the rest of my order. She tells us "they" messed up. We then waited another 30 minutes for the entree which was literally two fried eggs, bacon, and potatoes.
As for the food, my husband enjoyed his lox and eggs & the bagels were good. The challah French toast was somehow dry and soggy at the same time. I ordered the brisket and eggs. It was inedible. Charred and unseasoned. Not under seasoned, completely unseasoned. It was reminiscent of my grandmothers pot roast and she makes horrible pot roast. The potatoes were also over cooked, mushy and terribly bland.
I can forgive service hiccups at a new establishment but I can't forgive the mess that came out of the kitchen. If you're going for anything other than bagels to-go, I'd find somewhere else.
