I go around the DMV sampling all the taco places in search of one that reminds me of home. This place was not exactly authentic in flavor but the food was just ok. Zero spice but the meat and fish were cooked well. I wouldn't send people here if they wanted legit tacos but it's a good spot to satisfy your late night hunger. In addition, the Latin speakeasy was pretty cool. We enjoyed the music and the general vibe. An $18 paloma was a bit pricey but one drink was all I needed anyways. After 10:30, they move the bar stools and tables out of the way to make room for dancing and standing room only. This place is good for a brief stopover after dinner on your way to something else. I recommend it for a third date location.

Incredible food and party atmosphere! Birria tacos came in very clutch at 1 am after lots of reggaeton, salsa and merengue. Great speakeasy in the back unlike anything I’ve seen in DC so far.

I went to the opening of Bodega Taqueria y Tequila in West End/Foggy Bottom this past weekend. It’s a nice spot tucked among GW campus buildings, so this place will likely be a hit w/ GWU students especially late nights as there is speakeasy hidden in the back. As part of the opening, Bodega Taqueria y Tequila offered mini burritos and margaritas. They both were good. The decor and ambience is colorful and vibrant. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The manager offered to let me tour the speakeasy once I was done with my meal. I decided I wanted to try some other menu items, so I opted for the coconut shrimp taco and crispy fish taco. They were delicious!!Crispy and flavorful. After savoring my tacos, I accepted the offer to preview the speakeasy, which opens at 4p. I will say I loved the graffiti entrance to the speakeasy, once inside it felt just like a nice new, hidden gem. Even though the bartenders were prepping for later, I was able to order one of their tropical margaritas and it was just right! Fruity & flavorful! In addition to the bar, there are a few lounges, where you can sit & chill. Once the word is out, I expect this popular Miami-based spot will be a hit especially given that they will be open until 3am on weekends! If you’re in the Foggy Bottom area and want some good Mexican food & margaritas, Bodega Taqueria & Tequila is the place to go.

The lighting and overall vibe were amazing! Very chill and perfect for relaxing with friends. The atmosphere is definitely the highlight here. I tried several food items, and while they were okay, I probably wouldn’t order more from the menu. That said, it’s a great spot to grab drinks and enjoy the ambiance.

Came here for a happy hour this summer and was blown away by the awesome bartending service, the ambience of the speakeasy, and also the HH food was reasonably priced and tasted really good!

At night, this place turns into a club upstairs and the music downstairs as a result is way too loud. The food is surprisingly good though expensive compared to others. The Birria Tacos were especially good but expensive at $6.5 per taco. The Dorado tacos are a better value and vegetarian. The drinks are weak but delicious. I really liked the frozen slushy Paloma. I'd rate this as deserving of a 15% decrease in price.

As someone who frequents the Miami Beach location of Bodega and absolutely loves it, I was thrilled to see one open in Washington DC. Unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing and nowhere near the standard I've come to expect. To start, the restroom was completely inaccessible for an extended period of time because an employee was inside smoking weed. That alone was off-putting and unprofessional. Then came the food — I ordered the shrimp tacos, which were a complete ripoff. Each taco had only two shrimp. For the price, I expected something far more generous and flavorful. And don’t even get me started on the margarita — it was one of the worst I’ve ever had. Weak, unbalanced, and barely drinkable. Overall, this location felt like a poorly run version of what makes the Miami Beach Bodega so fun and enjoyable. The DC spot was HORRIBLE. Total letdown. Bodega should seriously look into how this location is being managed — it’s dragging down the brand.

1. The drinks were so strong and tasted so incredible that they quickly snuck up on me. I left my card behind and had to come back for it, but with pleasure. I highly recommend the margaritas! You definitely got what you were paying for. I also would add the free coat check was such a perk for these cold days. 2. Fantastic selection of latin music! Loved the DJ. 3. The crispiest chips you could ever take a bite of and I sincerely appreciate the fact they weren’t overly salty like most other similar businesses. 4. Queso had a kick & was full of flavor. Most queso options in DC in this price range are bland, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. 5. The absolute juiciest tacos! This place will definitely have my rating for my favorite taco I have had in DC so far (I am a DC native). It was so good it didn’t even require hot sauce for enhancement (that’s how you really know). I selected 1 Birria and 1 Al pastor taco. I will definitely be back for food and for fun. Incredible prices, especially considering being in the city. 6. My lunch date had the quesabirria, which they raved about as well! 7. Exceptional customer service on both sides of the establishment. Everything was served quickly without issue. I’ll see you guys next time! I can see why this is the talk of the town💃🏽

Food and drinks are 10/10! Atmosphere and staff were amazing! The club in the back is also great. They recently had a Bad Bunny lookalike and it was lit and the vibes were amazing.

My friends and I stopped by this spot hoping to enjoy a fun Taco Tuesday, but our experience was just okay overall. This place gets very busy , so I'd definitely recommend getting there early if you want a seat at the bar or a nice spot inside the restaurant. Since we arrived later in the evening, we ended up ordering at the bar. Unfortunately, the server wasn't as friendly as we'd hoped, I'll chalk it up to the fact that the place was packed and he might've been a bit overwhelmed. As for the food, it was decent but nothing to rave about. The nachos were definitely the highlight of the night!

Such a cute unassuming spot! Taco spot in the front and sexy bar in the back. I appreciated that they allowed you to order from the bar (to take advantage of the happy hour specials) and sit in the front at the tables. The bar was PACKED! it may have been an event or something but it was super busy back there. we ordered the nachos and tacos and they were all so good! The margaritas were lovely as well. Will definitely check this spot out again if in the area.

I went for HH and honestly, I was super shocked by how good the food and drinks were. We sat at the bar and had the best service! shout out the bartenders for being super attentive despite being busy. They have margarita Mondays which is the day we went, and they have pitchers for $30 and frozen for $5 we ate like 10 tacos together haha but it was delicious. I have heard mixed reviews about the food, but we got lucky, and it was very juicy and fresh. I've definitely would return for another HH

This place is cool! The front of the bodega is a traditional sit-down spot with normal lights and music. The back is where the excitement is at. I love the concept of a secret door going to a bar in the back. The decor is fun, the lighting level gets dimmer every hour to what must be pitch black by 8pm and you just bump into other patrons and suddenly you have a new Tinder date to take home. The food was definitely hit and miss. The plain nachos my friend got barely had any cheese on it, and the cheese was definitely can you use a can opener for or one you press a nozzle at the top to get out. Nachos with a pitiful amount of onions and tomatoes and nothing else. The Classico burrito was phenomenal. Perfect temperature, grilled, cut in two diagonally, and fresh warm interior with beans, cheese, salsa, and plenty of hot sauce at the table to turn up dat heat! The $7 margs were very tart and premixed. They were okay but the alcohol content was pretty low. Ask for tajin and jalapeños, same price and much tastier! The prices were fair. I spent $42 with tax and tip. The bartender was incredibly attentive, friendly, and on point! She even pointed out the automatic tip, when she could have left that out to cheat customers, but didn't. The honestly is appreciated! I'll definitely come back for happy hour here again!

This is a cool spot in an area of the city that doesn't have many Mexican spots with specials during the week, and there's a bonus speak easy! (If you know, you know). The drinks: nothing to write home about. Pretty standard. Not meant to be positive or negative. However, I do suggest the 'love me' and 'f*ck me' shots, because with names like those, how could you not. The food: ordered chicken and steak tacos, not impressed to be honest. Especially given the $5 price tag per taco. Gave the jalapeño brisket burrito a try, not impressive. The elote dorado was another story. That is an AMAZING taco. Perfect balance of flavor, sauce, and spice! Would get this every time. The speak easy is a great time, so if I return, it'll likely be to visit there. If I'm hungry, the elote dorado taco will know my name as well.

Went for happy hour after seeing this spot on tiktok - 6/10 for the experience and the atmosphere. The drinks were nicer heavy, the tacos personally I was not feeling a solid 6/10. The servers and bartenders were extremely polite and attentive though and the overall cleanliness was great but just needs better music and food. *fun fact go toward the green arrow !

Bodega has a whole bar area inside, behind a door that looks like service door. You would never think of pushing open that door if the staff didn't invite you. Once inside, it's dimly light and atmospheric, feeling almost like a speakeasy. Delicious nachos (with melted cheese), $5 during happy hour. Also: $5 happy hour margarita. Amazing. Comfy sofa; alright noise / music level to allow us to still be able to chat.

Loveeeeeeeed Bodega! The staff was chef's kiss! Relaxed atmosphere with good music playing! Their bar area is super cute and cozy. The drinks and food were delicious. I'll definitely be back for a good night out!

I was invited for a private event and tried to order a margarita in the speak easy area but the bartender was very rude and refused to take my order twice when I tried to order. He said there was a private event and that is the reason why he doesn't want to take my order. I told him I was part of the event but he was so rude and condescending that I was completely turned off. If any manager cares to look into this, it was the bartender who worked on 2/12 at 5-7pm wearing a cameo hat with the logo mamita. I was told his name is either Rico, Nico, or Zack. Either way he ruined the vibe.

Okay okay let's get into it! This place and the design is so cute! My friends and I were able to visit for a beautiful and successful launch and if you're into Mexican food you'll be into here! Why? Because not only is there the cutesy ambiance but also this cute bar/loungey area ln the back! Service and staff was great! Metro accessible so super close to GW metro as well!

Okay let's talk about this place. They're from Miami, which is awesome. The last place that came from Miami left several years ago... I hope this doesn't follow in the same footsteps, but let's see what happens. RIP 100 Montaditos! Anyways, I've been twice now -- both on weekends... I should try going on a weekday to compare vibes. The interior is quite inviting, and the speakeasy in the back.... what a mood! It's inside of a building, but where you make orders is like a... trailer park thing? Food truck stand? It's really cool haha. But I haven't done that yet, I've went straight to the back where the speakeasy is. Both times there's been a loud DJ and felt less like a speakeasy and more like a club, though. Their food is pricey. My friend didn't love her tacos, and I tried just a taste of the queso. After recently having a pretty elevated queso, it felt like a downgrade indeed. Where they may lack in food, they make up for it in the drinks though. My goal is to return on a weekday and see how the vibe is different. I'll be back!

The speakeasy in the back is very cool vibes--dark, with very neat art, and everything you hope a speakeasy would be. The prices were also fairly decent, but not great. The $5 margarita for Margarita Mondays Happy Hour was the real deal. But not much more good to say about this place. The food was EXTREMELY mid. The street corn had the texture of Mac n' cheese, with way too thick of a sauce. The tacos were aggressively fine, and "steak" and "carne asada" were not great descriptors for the meat bits in my tacos that I was probably lucky to not be able to see in the dark space. The margs were good, but inconsistent. Even though they were on draft, some were better than others in terms of flavor. Oddly, only one round came with a garnish, and we had to ask for salt after not receiving it on our first. Salt should be standard or the server should at least ask if we want it. I would consider coming back for happy hour or one of their daily specials, but can't imagine getting food here again. I should also note that their in person menu is vastly different from their online menu. There are no frozen margs--which was one of the things I was most excited about.

I was here on Saturday night for dinner and had a lovely experience. We had their F*ck Me shot and a cocktail (Strawberry Limeade) and both were really delicious! As for tacos, they were a great size -- we were expecting something smaller, but were pleasantly surprised. Our favorite was the Steak Chimichurri taco, I highly recommend it! The Barbacoa and the Taco de "Birria" were nice as well (I really liked their Birria Consommé). We also had the Yuca Verde but we could have skipped it...(it was very oily.) Otherwise, the experience was good -- they had a DJ there but it wasn't overwhelming. We were still able to have a conversation over dinner. Our food came out quickly as well. Overall, a nice and easy spot for dinner!

I've been hearing good things about this spot called Bodega Taqueria y Tequila, so I had to check it out to see what the hype was about. Let me just say, upon entry it is super cute. You walk in to see half an airstream as the center point of the establishment, which set the tone. However, my boyfriend and I were on a Happy Hour mission, so we made our way to the back where there was a speakeasy, which was absolutely packed, but what else do you expect on a Friday evening at Happy Hour, next to the George Washington Campus. So we make our way to the bar for the $3 margaritas. The Margaritas tasted more like yellow Gatorade, even though I watched the bartender make it right in front of me, but can you really expect from a $3 margarita "Kanye Shrug." On to the food; they had 3 tacos for the $12 and some change. I got the ribeye, chicken, and pork tacos. Although the tacos were pretty good, they could have used a little sauce. Now tell me how these tacos magically went from $12- $20 when I checked my statement (I gave the bartender my card because like I said it was packed; and it was a digital transaction). Like what on God's green earth is this type of gratuity and tax? Anywho, my boyfriend and I ran the tacos back (like I said they were pretty good) and got Modelos instead of the margarita. The tacos almost took and hour to get this time (we did not get them until after Happy Hour was over and people cleared out). Gratefully the management was on top of it and comped our tacos and gave a 2 drink tickets for either margaritas or Modelos. Now to the DJ; DJ Xavi was great and kept the vibes going. He played a lot of Bad Bunny but mixed in between some 90s music, which I loved. Overall, my experience was decent. I would definitely go back but I think I may go back during a non happy hour time, so I can enjoy it a little bit more.

I had the pleasure of sitting next to Cullen, the manager, whose passion for the place is infectious. After learning I was from Los Angeles and skeptical about finding great tacos in the DMV, he personally convinced me to give theirs a try--and I'm glad he did. The steak chimichurri taco was bold and flavorful, but the real showstopper was the jalapeño brisket taco which added just the right kick, with the depth of a well-prepared brisket. Cullen introduced me to Maria, who crafted a duo of standout cocktails: a rich Espresso Martini, a smoky Old Fashioned with mescal Later, I met Miranda, the food director, whose insight into the menu elevated the experience even further. Her enthusiasm and knowledge made every bite feel curated and intentional. She prepared a specialty item, the carnitas taco which housed crispy potato bits, a vibrant BBQ sauce, and juicy meat that melted in my mouth. And then there was Gator, a bartender with a personality as vibrant as the drinks he pours. His whimsical stories and warm energy made me feel like I'd stumbled into a place I'd want to return to again and again--not just for the food and drinks, but for the people. Bodega isn't just a speakeasy--it's a story, a vibe, and a community. I've already told my friends and colleagues: this is a must-visit. Whether you're a cocktail enthusiast, a taco aficionado, or just someone looking for a memorable time out, Bodega delivers. P.S. - , Don't forget to try the frozen mango margarita that is available when you first walk in. It felt like summer in a glass to quell the hot and humid summer we are currently having in the DMV.

Give the speakeasy a try if you are tired of the HH options around Foggy Bottom. You can actually have a conversation, and have comfy seating. Seeing other comments on food, I have to say that was not our experience. I wasn't expecting authentic Mexican food or a Michelin-star experience. Our nachos and guac, HH $4 tacos hit the spot. Fun, convenient, and different enough of a vibe in the area with $7 draft margaritas.

Great happy hour!! 3 tacos for $12 is a great deal. The drink specials were great. Celebrated a friend's bday and service was good. Cute and cozy speakeasy in the back.

All my friends from Miami have raved about this place so of course I had to stop by and check it out for myself. When you walk in, it appears to be a simple Taqueria, but if you walk towards the back, there's an entrance to the actual speak easy, which is very cozy and lounge like. Considering it was a Tuesday evening, I thought it was actually pretty packed! I got the opportunity to try a beef birria quesadilla and the spicy passionfruit margarita - both of which were absolutely delicious. I want to give a special shout out to the bar staff who went above and beyond to help my friend, and I find a spot at the bar and we're constantly checking in on us to see if we liked our food, our drinks, and if we needed anything else. We also got the opportunity to meet one of the managers once the evening crowd had started departing, and we learned that by 9 PM, they actually get rid of the tables and the SPEAKEEZY turns into even more of a lounge like area. They do take reservations for the lounge... I think you have to reserve bottle/table service but it's definitely worth it because they have a lot of good tequila... Not your average mainstream tequila, but actually good quality tequila that you don't often find in restaurants here in the DC Metro area. I can't wait to come back and try other things off the menu!

Great Happy Hour deals with good vibe. Super dark setting, but quick service, and tasty food. $4 tacos for HH and $6 Chips and Guac. Tacos tasted really good. Very solid HH and good vibes.

Bodega Taqueria Y Tequila in Foggy Bottom What A Vibe! I LOVE this spot. This is my new go to spot! Excellent Guest Service. Liv, Kiyana, Maria, Laura, Duby, Daily, Travon are the absolute BEST. They are very Friendly, Knowledgeable, Attentive and they all make excellent Cocktails! The Spicy Sandia is my favorite cocktail on the menu. Love it! It's so refreshing! The food here is so delicious so shout out to the chef. Love the ambiance here. It's a very chill vibe especially after a long day of work. Thank you guys for your excellent hospitality! 10/10

Heard about this place and finally ventured out there. Staff are incredible friendly and the restaurant are is nice but the lounge is better. Nice to know they serve food into late here. I gotta say I don't think I've seen a hotter bartender in DC than Laura over here. The cocktail menu has nice drinks but I'm glad Laura was able to make my go to drink so perfectly. Definitely feels like a place I'd like to come to again and again. Check it out!

Today I experienced my FIRST speakeasy in DC and had a blast! I went in expecting just to get tacos with co workers​ after work and to our surprise found a hidden lounge with great music and service. Kadejah in the front area did a great job referring us to the back where we were greeted by one of the MOST authentic servers I've ever met Phantom. She guided us through the menu with ease and suggested her favorite drink, the passion fruit margarita, which is now my favorite as well.​ Her aura was unmatched as she correctly guessed my zodiac sign based off first impressions. Also suggested I order a Fiesta Tower that came with a ton of dips, chips, yuca fries, and pepper quesadillas. The food was a 10/10 and we most definitely will be coming back on a weekly basis to indulge in happy hour.

Not the best first impression. Back bar service was great. But no service out front, staff was busy breaking up a drunken fight with other staff or their friends??? Seemed like it was run by college kids. Smelled and looked good but ordered Taco Bell on Seamless.

I wasted 20 minutes truing to order online. I downloaded the app, created an account and it would not let me pay for my pick up order. It told me I needed to update my shipping address...I'm picking up the order -not having it shipped or delivered. I tried to use the website-it doesn't have the same Taco Tuesday order option so I can't get what I want. This is located in the same building that I work at. I walked past to see touch screen ordering and I didn't see an employee I could talk to so I went somewhere else.

The food was delicious and hot, and the service was prompt. The waitress was exceptional, and the staff was friendly. The ambiance was perfect for a date night or a girls' night out. Parking was convenient, which is always a plus in DC. However, they're still a new restaurant and are working on their efficiency, as some items were missing.

Food was average at best. Like a fast casual, you order at a window and pay, then they bring it to your table. Only pre-made frozen margaritas unless you go to the separate bar in the back and order, which is not kid friendly.

Max at the door was AMAZING! We came for the tacos and had no clue there was a hidden bar in the back. He led us back there and was so kind. The birria was delicious and the DJ was even better. Also so great that this place was open so late!

Probably the worst margaritas I've tried in DC and also they claims I couldn't pay with the app. That doesn't even make sense.. they have an app with a QR code for a reason... I can see this place being "a vibe" for students but if you want quality food and drinks I suggest going elsewhere.

While the food was bad, I wouldn't have normally made a review just for that. However, the service was abysmal. Our waitress Minnah tried to charge us for 2 extra drinks. When we brought it to her attention she talked down to us, rolled her eyes, and tried to belittle us. We requested she checked the cameras because we were positive we did not order nor receive those extra 2 drinks but she preferred to argue for 5 more minutes before saying "okay honey i will i know the guy so i definitely will". The manager ended up taking those extra drinks off but also seemed to not belive it while the whole time we just wanted them to check and apologize. Terrible service, prices, and ambiance. Go elsewhere.

I have been a fan of this place since the opening earlier this year and am so disheartened having to write this review. To start off on a positive note I fell in love with this speakeasy because its the only one in the city I know of that sells tacos (my favorite food) and I loved the diversity of the music, staff and the service they provided. My co workers and I would come several times out of the week to participate in happy hour where margaritas and spirits were sold for only $3 and would order a plethora of appetizers that cost $5 at most each. We also completely adored the mystical server Phantom who we'd have the best conversations with and received outstanding service no matter how busy it became. The manager at the time Chris also exceeded our expectations as you rarely meet managers at restaurants unless it's a problem. Unfortunately, today after not coming for a while things are completely different. They have removed $3 drinks from their happy hour and charging $7 for a mid margarita that has no rim which is beyond me. Also, removed all of the food options and now only serve Nachos that came out ice cold. On top of that the service was disgraceful I was not greeted upon arrival to the lounge and had to wait 10 minutes before our server Tierra acknowledged our existence. Our drinks were taking so long to be made I tried going to the bar for an up date and I was completely ignored. I ended up spending over $100 on mediocre drinks, food and lack of hospitality. I'm willing to give them another chance hoping to see the Bodega I obsessed over 2 months ago
