Bodhi Kosher Vegetarian Restaurant

We are in NYC for 4 days now and this is the best service that we got. Menu is extensive, but prices are reasonable so easy to try multiple things. Everything we tried was super tasty. Will for sure come back again!

Visited at lunchtime on a Saturday and was lucky to get a table for one ! It was busy! Huge selection of vegetarian food and well priced dim sum. I particularly enjoyed the BBQ "meat". Service was super quick, if maybe a little abrupt, but very enjoyable lunch!

Service was so attentive and having tea brought out without asking 10/10. It reminded me of a family run business. Unfortunately I didn't like the food. Its not that it was cooked badly it just was salty and bland. But I'm used to English Chinese food so maybe it's just not to my taste which is fine.

Dear reader, just hit ‘Directions’ and get yourself over here. Or if you’re feeling organized and prepared, made a reservation first. Never in my life have I had such an amazing assortment of vegetarian dim sum and dishes like this, and I fear nothing else will measure up. Food comes out quickly, the temperature is perfect, and the diverse spices and tastes keep you wanting to order even more. I’ll be back soon!

Some places don’t even need a review. They stand on their own. Bodhi Kosher Vegetarian Restaurant is one of those places. I’ve been coming here for some time now, and when I say the food is amazing, I mean it. Not just convenient. Not just affordable. Truly flavorful and consistent. You can feel the culture. You can feel the intention behind making sure people eat well. The lunch special is incredible. I highly recommend it. The blackened fish on the lunch special is excellent. My personal favorite is the lamb. I also love the vegan fish with black bean sauce. Honestly, all of their sauces are on point. The jade dumplings are a must. I sometimes venture out and try something new, but I usually stick to those because they never miss. The food is absolutely amazing. Over time, they’ve included me into the family, and I really appreciate these ladies. Things happen sometimes, like anywhere, but they always find a way to correct it. That matters. Christine is my beautiful friend, and I love her. She probably doesn’t even want the attention because all of them show up with smiles and warmth. But I would be remiss if I didn’t give her a shout out. This place feels like home for me. It’s my little getaway. I come here to eat, to work, to relax, and just reset. I don’t tell too many people about it, but 2026, I’m sharing the love. Thank you for being there in more ways than you probably realize. Angelic K

Great gluten free dim sum. Had taro steamed and steamed home dumpling. It was flavorful and substantial. I can’t rate it completely because I only had a few, but my friend highly recommends it.

Amazing place if you’re vegetarian and looking for a good Chinese meal. Everything on the menu is vegetarian and tastes delicious- the chicken lo mein was a favorite for my friends and I. If you are gluten free, the waitress will give you a separate menu and will let you know if what was ordered is GF or not. The BBQ meat was also very tasty and had a lovely texture, and you must get the beef buns.

Delicious dumplings and Dim Sum and all were vegan or vegetarian! The gluten free menu is also super helpful. One big note: Do keep asking about which items are safe for your food allergies. Staff were wonderful. I had to take off one point for service because the plates weren't marked as gluten free, the staff didn't announce which plates were gf when they delivered food and it became hard to keep track after a while. It would be helpful to add allergen toothpicks to their dishes.

If you are vegetarian (or vegan) this is a must go place for you! They cook their vegetarian dishes really well and we came on a weekend for an early dinner and this place is packed. The dishes are not only flavorful but packed with different vegetables options and some have a good variety in just one dish. This place makes you feel like it's okay to eat out because you are still getting your vegetables and proteins (from the soy & setan, etc.) We go the Buddha delight house special and another vegetable medley dish that I can't remember what the name was called. The Buddha delight was so good and flavorful. I love the crispy taro. Service was efficient even though it was busy and I enjoyed the complimentary hot tea served as well. I need to come back soon! This is now my favorite vegetarian place in New York.

Food: good Service: Horrendous ..and there's alot of staffers! Was great when i was here last year for lunch..while serving jury duty...prob bcuz it was slow and was constantly be attended to the point...a little suffocating. Now its an 180. Waited to place order....and waited even longer for just my ...Appetizer from my lunch special to appear. Estimate Entire Waiit Time: 20 to 25 min! Figured this restaurant is the Not "1st come 1st serve basis" --serves Larger parties 1st..and presumably = Bigger Tips. Despite a solo diner (me) came in before few large parties came in...and perceived at least one of em got their food starters before mine.. To add insult to injury...my server was definitely aware! As i was looking around...we made eye contact and she felt awkward? When done w/ my meal, had to get up and walk to a staffer available for the bill and she Also knew about my neglected order... bcuz she said "um ho yee see" meaning either embarrassed and/or to apologize server's error. I left 4 pennies for tip. As I respect on dining etiquette, would've given a good to great tip depending on merit. i would not go back. Fortunately, Buddha Bodai Restaurant @ 5 Mott St is the OG vegan / vegetarian is close by..been here for years esp the dim sum. Not only is overall food about same or better (less greasy) here...But The Service is Fair & Superior for all their eaters. Good to know other options!

Bodhi is a great spot for some vegan/vegetarian Chinese delights. They were packed on the Thursday night my friend and I dropped by. Their vegetarian style dimsum were unique and reminiscent of the typical dimsum but with their veg twist. Buddha's delight chow mein: a highlight of the night, crispy sauced noodles filled with all types of vegetables (sauced dried bean curd, carrots, mushrooms, Napa cabbage, bok choy). I was surprised by the heavier ginger flavor, but it was a great touch to a hearty noodle dish. Veg shrimp dumplings: the skin was done well- the filing was alright - not as good as a typical dim sum shrimp dumpling... but still good. Sticky rice siu mai: an unexpected twist on a dim sum classic. The sticky rice was a great compliment to the skin. Ribs in black bean sauce - the black bean sauce carried the seitan(?) Ribs with the peppers on the side. Tip- I always love mixing the extra sauce with the other dishes I order to make my other dishes a little bit more flavorful. The black bean sauce was a tasty delight! Great spot to take friends for some good vegan and vegetarian friendly Chinese food and it comes with the standard Chinese hot tea fare!

Went on a Saturday night and there was no wait for a table of 4. Quick service. Do not serve water, must ask. Appetizers are the best! Scallion pancakes, steamed dumpling, and the ribs appetizer was delicious! I did not like the tofu at all, was very average and oily.

The food was really tasty overall. In addition to the dishes pictured, we ordered the green beans and chili wontons. These 5 dishes were perfectly split amongst 6 people. My favorite was the mapo tofu and the green beans. I was really looking forward to the soup dumplings as it's a rarity to find soup dumplings that are vegan. But they weren't very soupy. They did taste fine but not what I expected. It did take a while to order the food and to receive it but on the flip side they did allow us to be seated even though our whole party wasn't there. All in all, I would like to come back and try more of their food.

We came here today on a friends suggestion and I have to say this place is great, you have to go if you are in New York. If I could give an extra star, this place would definitely deserve it. The food is so tasty, the portions are huge, the staff is very nice. Everything is done without meat and you are not recognising or missing it. I would love to have this place in my home town. I would go very often.

A vegan dim sum spot tucked into the heart of Chinatown -- stopped by for dinner with a larger party and we didn't have to wait too long to be seated. The waiters are really nice and patient with making recommendations. The food relies heavily on fake meat, which is fine but worth calling out. I loved a few of the dishes, like Turnip Cake, Vegetable Chicken Fried Rice and Cumin Lamb. We had initially come here for the soup dumplings but didn't feel strongly since the skin was too thick and there wasn't that much soup. Overall, still a good spot for vegetarian Chinese eats!

Superb all vegan Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. They serve dim sum all day and the food is amazing. I definitely recommend the rice rolls as well as the soup dumpling. They placed each soup dumpling into the spoon for us and drizzled it with sauce which was a fun experience! This place is also very affordable! We got 4-5 dishes for $30 which was more than enough for 2 of us. Most of their dim sum is $5-7 per plate and comes with 3-4 pieces

The service is a bit abrupt but it's Chinatown right? Lol. We were seated on a Tuesday relatively easily around 7PM. It was full of tourists but we were able to order quickly. They randomly brought us egg rolls at first but we didn't order that lol. The vegan soup dumplings were honestly pretty flavorful - only the "meat" texture is a little different. Pricey at $15 for 5 pieces. The sautéed string beans are my friends favorite! They're very garlicky - I like em too. The bbq meat is amazing texture and flavor wise. Super reminiscent of barbecue cha siu. The chicken lomein was really good too! Well sautéed. Honestly I'd come back with vegan and non vegan friends. Totally recommend.

First time here for both me and my friend a few weeks ago! 10 min wait on a Sunday -- not bad for the small space and fairly long line. Very friendly staff, prompt and efficient service. Our waters stayed full, food was brought out and cleared quickly. Location is perfectly situated for a night out! The concept is amazing as someone who is pescatarian but eats a lot of vegetarian and vegan food. It's somewhat difficult to find dim sum that is veg-focused and has more than one option. Ordered: *Fried Taro Dumpling *Shrimp" Rice Roll *Baked "Veg Meat" Bun *Black Bean Sauce "Ribs" *Steamed Veg Buns *Sticky Rice Shumai *Tsingsao beers Looooved everything except the sticky rice shumai. it was completely flavorless. I was excited for that one, too. Skip for now! The textures of everything.. oof. so on point, satisfying, just delicious. I am quite excited for my next visit as there are so many other dishes I want to try!

Really solid vegan dim sum in NYC's Chinatown. My friends and I were Vegetarian Dim Sum House loyalists for like...a decade, but after a few too many underwhelming meals, we decided to branch out. We stopped in to Bodhi Kosher on a whim, and were pleasantly surprised. They offer a varied menu of authentic shareable dishes. For 7 people, we ordered 20 items, which was the perfect amount of food (most come with 3 pieces). I think the bill was still under $150. Service was attentive and genuinely friendly. Stand out dishes were the delicate "Veg Meat Pastry", which was filled with what seemed to be mock pork, as well as the richly flavorful Steamed Curry Bun. The Cruller Rice Roll and Vegetable Buns were well executed classics. The sticky rice and taro dumplings were overly one-note, and the fried spring rolls too oily. I ended up with palate fatigue, but still enjoyed the meal.

Came here with 6 people on a weeknight and was pleasantly surprised at how good everything was! We walked in and waited about 10 mins for a table which was not bad at all! The staff was super kind and accommodating and the restaurant had a cozy warm vibe to it! We ordered a multitude of things since we went with a decent sized group and everything we ordered was delicious. I was especially blown away by the fried rice and the lamb dish. I've never tasted a lamb dish that was meatless but also great, don't expect it to taste like lamb but it was still delicious and spiced amazingly. The turnip cake was also a great dish and not too sticky/sweet. I would 100% recommend this place even if you're not vegan!

The service was amazing! The staff were very attentive and refilled the teapot multiple times while still asking about the meal. The food came out quickly and I was so delighted by the quality and taste of vegan dim sum. It's so difficult to find vegan plates at a traditional dim sum restaurant, so I'm thankful that there was an abundance of foods to choose from. The curry dumpling was a little bland, so I wouldn't prioritize ordering it but the wrapper was yummy and soft. Not dry. I wasn't a fan of the sticky rice siu mai because I thought it was dry but I like how there was a pork flavor. Overall, obsessed with the fried taro dumpling, the shrimp rice roll, and the spring dumpling. Very delicious and delightful to eat.

***Quick Service, Variety of Veggie Options, Spacious*** A staple vegetarian restaurant in Chinatown. Overall the food comes out quick and it's delicious. There's lots of seating and reservation isn't needed. My one concern is that even though we tipped well, the waitress asked for more; this left a bad taste in my mouth.

Enjoyable vegetarian (vegan?) dim sum with no MSG, with many of the same flavors as regular dim sum This is a welcome spot in Chinatown and doesn't feel super trendy, though more non Asian patrons than not. We ordered a few items that all tasted pretty good, with my favorites being bean curd spring roll, shrimp dumpling, some sort of veggie dumpling and "seafood" congee. They seem to use the term vegetarian and vegan synonymously but it feels like they're likely vegetarian, not 100% vegan. It would be nice if the menu explained what was in each dish. For example the squid was a noodle type thing and pretty realistic but we had to ask to know. In addition to dim sum they also have things like noodles and fried rice. Prices for dim sum are in the range of $5-8, so not cheap. Everything came out at a pretty good clip. We also waited a little for our table but not too bad. The casual atmosphere has that same feeling as other traditional Chinese places in Chinatown, a little cramped. The service was pretty good.

This is the kind of place that will change your view regarding vegan/vegetarian food, if you walk in without and start eating, you won't even realize the meat is not real meat. The service is friendly and the chef is an expert because it is just delicious.

When getting dinner with my brother, I asked for something vegetarian or dim sum, and I can't believe he found both in one restaurant! The food was amazing, and I had a great time having endless choices as a vegetarian. I wanted to try everything! When I first showed up, I had to confirm they were vegetarian because they have items such as "lamb" or "fish" on the menu, but the servers assured me everything was not only vegetarian but vegan! I didn't even have time to take photos of dishes like I usually do because I was eating everything so fast! They were sensitive to my husband's mushroom allergies (which can be challenging in vegan places!) and made recommendations that would better suit us. The menu is immense, so you could have a completely different experience each time. We ordered the soup dumplings, fried taro dumpling, fried sticky rice dumpling, curry dumpling, something with "shrimp," and some noodles with "BBQ chicken." Those are just the ones I remember. The noodles were actually maybe my favorite dish because the BBQ flavor was so good. They also served us complimentary hot tea throughout the meal. We arrived around 8:30 on a Saturday night and were able to get a table for 4. We stayed almost till closing, which was around 10, and they let us know when the kitchen was closing. When the bill came, we couldn't believe the price for so many dishes for 4 people! I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in NYC!

So many vegetarian choices!! Laksa Noodle Soup: HUGE portion for the price, we were so surprised. Strong spicy tomato flavor, delicious tofu, mushrooms, and handmade noodles that had amazing texture General Tso Chicken: Highlight of the meal! The outside was crispy, and the flavor and sauce were made to perfection Sweet and Sour Ribs: Soft, chewy texture, and tangy sauce Really friendly servers and fast service. Large open space in the restaurant. It was not too crowded on a weekday night around 5pm.

My Bodhi adventure was an absolute delight! It all began with a complimentary warm teapot, a gesture that set the tone for the evening. Exploring their extensive regular menu and dim sum menu was a joy, especially knowing that everything was vegan. I opted for a variety: Sticky Rice Shumai ($5.25), a pleasant surprise with its crunchy texture and vibrant flavors, truly a dish to remember. Cha Shui Bao - Steamed Veg Meat Bun ($5.95), with its cloud-soft bun, was delightful, although the filling lacked flavor. Steamed Home Dumpling - GF ($5.95), generously packed with veggies, was good but didn't quite steal the show. Then there was the Special BBQ Veg Meat ($8.95)! It was more than just a dish; it was a trip down memory lane. I hadn't tasted something so reminiscent of my childhood in ages. With the first bite, nostalgia washed over me, and I was almost brought to tears. It's astounding how food can transport us to moments wrapped in love and comfort. I've been frequenting vegetarian dim sum establishments in Chinatown since childhood. For many years I was loyal only to the Vegetarian House of Dim Sum on Pell Street, but sadly like many of the old Chinatown icons - Jing Fong, Golden Unicorn, etc. - it has seen better days, as Shanghainese and Xi'an cuisines have become the Chinese regional varieties du jour in New York and dim sum palaces have fallen out of favor. Thankfully, there still is quality vegetarian dim sum to be had in Chinatown at both Buddha Bodai and, as I learned this morning, at the nearby Bodhi Kosher. I had the opportunity to sample a wide variety of items. The most successful dishes were the veggie ha-gow (shrimp dumplings), tza-liang (cheong fun, aka rice noodles, filled with yo-tyau, or crueller), and the HK-style pan fried noodles, which had the perfect mix of crunchy and soft textures. I also enjoyed their interpretation of Malaysian roti canai, here mysteriously labeled "Indian pancake," and the congee. The plain cheong fun was a bit less successful - it's hard to beat the piping hot trays you can get a few blocks north at Yi Ji Shi Mo.

Excellent Jubu restaurant! My omni friend was enjoyed the food so much, I think she will convert! We got the dim sum platter, Singapore noodles, shao long pao, cumin lamb. Forgot to get the turnip cakes! Will be back to get more dim sum favs, great to trick friends who are meat eaters! One thing, you need to ask for the chili sauce and vinegar for the shao long pao.

Run, don't walk to catch the best veggie xiao long bao I've had. The soup was flavorful and the filling was juicy and tender. Plus the server places the dumpling on your spoon for you and adds the vinegar for you. Now that's service! Felt so faaahncy. Their BBQ veg meat is also incredible. When we first sat down, my daughter looked at the menu and said, with slight distaste, "Ugh, vegetarian dim sum?!?" By the end of the night she was gobbling up the BBQ char siu bao and the BBQ veg meat chow fun. Even though it was not real meat, they got that charsiu flavor down pat, which is impressive because a significant amount of flavor comes from the pork fat. I don't know what wizard is in the back of the kitchen making plants taste like this, but I walked away very happy and satisfied. Oh, and the doumiao (pea leaves) were on point.

The ambiance is a casual Chinatown vibe. Good amount of seating in the front and the back. Service is pretty standard. They were pleasant but nothing special. The food was really good ! The vegan meat has good flavor and doesn't taste meaty - a score for true vegetarians. Naturally it's a bit oily but really good vegan food.

I'm no stranger to mock meats, and Bodhi veg seems to have them all. I've been a couple times, and have ordered delivery, and the quality is similar between the two. The service while dining in is fast and efficient, and I've found everyone to be very nice. The menu is LONG so you're bound to want to try more than you can finish. The "veg meat" mimics char siu and I always make sure to get at least one menu item with that as a protein. The chicken lo mein is usually one of my favorites, but on my most recent visit it wasn't very flavorful so I ended up dousing it in soy sauce. The curry chicken and steamed buns are some of my favorites as well, and I've heard the lemon chicken is popular. The dumplings are decent across the board, I tried the Cantonese dumpling most recently and it had big pieces of peanuts inside. My biggest qualm is that the food is sometimes too greasy, even on menu items that you would assume don't need much/any oil. For instance, even the rice rolls seemed to have oil coating the outside. As some have mentioned, this location is under different ownership than the "original" kosher vegan restaurant, but their menus are very similar. I've been to both and have no strong preference between the two. No one menu item is the "best" I've had of anything, but the options and price-point here still make it a worthwhile visit.

Okay, so I need to start my review saying I went to both Bodhi Kosher Vegetarian and The Original Buddha Bodai. They were both delicious, but Bodhi Vegetarian is my preference. My sister summarized it well, Bodhi Vegetarian is a Chinese dim sum that happens to be Kosher Vegetarian and Buddha Bodai is a vegetarian restaurant that has dim sum. They are different experiences. If you are looking for a pleasant interior and are seeking good customer service go to Buddha Bodai. Bodhi is more like your typical Chinatown restaurant. I am OBSESSED with the turnip cakes here! I think about them all of the time and can't wait to go back and get some. The turnip cakes are Buddha Bodai unfortunately were subpar in comparison. I just unfortunately can't give 5 stars. I was a little disappointed by the soup dumplings. My quest for pork/beef free soup dumplings continues on!

I was in NYC for Christmas and heard this place was great, and it's true. There was a wait, which was totally expected. The funny thing--they told everyone it was a 30-minute wait, but it was more like an hour (but totally worth it). Lol Once seated, service was fast, and servers were nice/friendly too. It was hard to decide what to order because you literally wanted to try everything, but I went with my usual favorites from other restaurants, and I was not disappointed. Everything we ordered was delicious, the place was comfortable and it was fun to people watch and see what others ordered. I would definitely come back again. There's other vegan/vegetarian places similar in the area I'd love to try, too, but this was a winner.

This place was great and very authentic! The fresh juice they recommended was great and made us feel great after and refreshed. Portions are shareable and the service was great!

Dined here several times many years ago and just returned yesterday. The experience continues to be great if not better! Especially shout out to the short hair lady with glasses who was amazing. She really made sure the food fit my husband's dietary restriction of no refined sugar which is challenging for most Chinese/East Asian restaurants. She even brought us tamari soy sauce that's sugar free. All the dim sum options were great and the best in my view among all the vegetarian dim sum restaurants. The vegetable dumplings had tons of fillings. Taro dumplings both steamed and fried options had great savory flavors. Only the lotus pancakes were a bit greasy and less interesting. Highly recommend this place!

This might just be my favorite place for vegetarian Chinese food. I had General Tso chicken, sticky rice shu mai, and steamed char siu bao. The "chicken" was my favorite dish - the sauce was sweet, spicy, and tangy, and the mock chicken was great at absorbing the sauce. The shu mai was more about the texture than flavor, but I enjoyed the chew from the sticky rice. And the char siu bao had the right balance of sweet and savory. All three dishes came out to about $30, which is a bit pricey but totally worth it. I took food to go and it was prepared very quickly.

There are so many restaurants in Chinatown, but not many meatless options. Im trying to eat healthier, so when a vegan friend suggested we go to Bodhi, I was game. The restaurant is on a busy street pretty close to my place. There were plenty of open tables around 2pm on a Thursday. It's cozy and well lit inside. Hot tea was brought over right away. Service was attentive and friendly. We ordered from the lunch specials in the back of the menu which gets you soup & an entree for $8.95 (M-F 11-4). We had the BBQ "meat" with cabbage and the sesame "chicken" with broccoli. Both came with a veggie wonton soup & brown rice. After trying all of the dishes, I genuinely couldn't tell anything was meatless, it just tasted good. The textures were similar, and the spices were as you'd expect. This was a surprisingly satisfying experience. There are many interesting vegan conversions like "lamb" & "fish" that I want to try, so I'll be back.

This place was soooo good! It doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is spacious, clean... they have bathrooms (clean) and you can charge your phone if you need to! Everything is vegan and kosher- don't let that scare you away if you're looking for a vegan outing but don't want to miss out on flavor, texture or protein this is definitely the place for you. My daughter is vegan, I'm pescatarian and my son is all about the meats. We ordered general Tao- he typically only eats this in meat form so this was new for him. We also got steamed home dumplings and wonton soup. I was so happy to see a WHOLE menu that fit those of us who always have to work around everyone else's appetite. Everything was amazing Wonton soup- just what I needed I was feeling a tad under the weather and this soup was amazingly flavored. The one thing I didn't love was they used lettuce instead of cabbage it was weird to me but didn't stop me from sipping down every last bit. General Tsos- amazing flavor and Texture you won't be missing out on anything this dish was enjoyed by everyone at the table. The spice level is a low medium- very good. House steamed dumplings were amazing my son said these were his favorite here and he's never had a vegan dish. We are from out of town but might eat here tomorrow again because it was so Amazing. This would be a regular spot if we lived in NYC. Also had the white wine- fresh and delicious

After hearing there was vegan dim sum in NYC, I immediately knew I wanted to try for the differences. The restaurant was a lot smaller than I expected, with tables tightly spaced between one another. The menu offered both Chinese family style dishes and dim sum. The dim sum choices were on a separate sheet of paper, on which you can just check off your selections and pass to the waiter. I was so excited to try everything, that every expectation fell through with each bite. While I enjoyed the fake tofu/soy protein as meat from the Veg. Meat Pastry ($4.95), there was a slight aftertaste. There was also too much puff in the puff-pastry-to-meat ratio. Next up, the rice roll of the Veg. Shrimp Rice Roll ($4.95) was surprisingly silky but didn't mesh well with the fake shrimp. The imitation meat looked like a fish cake and had a solid chew. Shrinkflation hit the Steamed Watercress Dumpling ($4.95) hard, as they were the size of slightly larger fish balls compared to previous photos', and it was quite simply watercress inside with maybe some water chestnuts. My favorite selection out of the meal was the Veg. Chicken Bean Curd Roll ($4.95) This vegan form mimics the flavorful sauce from the OG well, with a large piece of mushroom, taro, and an accurately textured chicken meat just STUFFED inside one frail tofu skin. The Pan Fried Turnip Cake ($4.75) was a lot more goopy than the typical dim sum I was used to. Not sure what made these a popular hit here, as they were good, but not fried enough. Lastly, the worst dim sum we tried just so happened to be one of their most expensive: the Veg. Ribs w. Salt & Pepper ($7.95). I applaud the creativity but unless you want to force down salty glutinous mochis with a bad aftertaste, I'd skip out on this. Coming here for vegan dim sum would be a good try-once experience. But it's not their specialty as the dim sum quality could have been executed better.

Absolutely delicious Kosher Chinese food with vegan and regular options available but get there early because gets crowded fast.

Had food here 20 times + . The food Is pretty good. the hospitality and service is kind of WEAK. And this comes from the attitude of the waiters and waitresses. They are not exactly happy people.We sat down for 2 minutes before deciding we did not want to eat anymore but we were told we can pay 2$. We didn't drink the tea either BEFORE being told that. The restaurant was quite empty on a rainy day so it's not like we wasted their time either. After that, we decided we will try out other vegan restaurants in the future and won't be back. Now adding that food prices here keep going up and nobody and their mothers know why except me, I'll have to tell you to SAVE THE SOIL. Rising Population with weaker soil makes food prices GO UP!. #SAVESOIL

Thinking of all the wasted time of not eating here sooner! Bodhi's service and food felt like a treat. Here's the dim sum we had to share amongst a group of 4 foodie friends: BBQ meat (vegetarian version of bbq pork) Soup dumplings Sautéed baby bok choi Fried taro dumpling Fried turnip pancake x2 Pea shoot rice rolls Mushroom congee x2 Lotus wrap rice x 2 Everything was delicious and fresh. I truly feel the flavor was not sacrificed in making this vegetarian friendly. Weakest point of the meal was the soup dumplings. It was served with an intense black vinegar which did not complement the flavor, and instead overpowered it. Too much black vinegar, and maybe a gentler brew of vinegar would have been more complementary. The star for me was the congee and the taro dumpling. The taro was crispy and absolutely delicious. The mushroom congee was comforting and satisfying. Can't wait to visit again.

Love love love this restaurant. When I am in the area, I tend to stop here and have a delicious meal that is fresh, served quickly and super friendly people running this magical land of deliciousness.

We ordered takeout. But this should have been our first choice for dinner. The food was amazing. I almost forgot it was all vegan. The ribs....omg...they taste like real boneless spare rib tips and the sweet and sour ribs were amazing. Authentic sweet and sour nothing like the sweet and sour red sauce from around the way spots. I will definitely be going back for the whole experience.

My kids drag me to Chinatown from central NJ at least once a month to eat here. It's their absolute favorite!! We have tried so many of the menu options, but favorites include anything with BBQ meat (I challenge meat eaters to tell the difference!), the bao, and the sticky rice balls. They also had their first taste of wonton soup here. And let's not forget the Boba (which isn't particularly good, but my kids can't walk away when Boba is an option). The service is so capable and fast! Don't order individual dishes--food comes out as it's ready and you can embrace the challenge of eating it as fast as it arrives. You'll lose but you can try. But if you're waiting for entrees for each person, you'll be in for an awkward moment. This place is meant for sharing. So what if the ambiance isn't luxurious? It's Chinatown, for Pete's sake. Live it up and embrace it for what it is!

My boyfriend's favorite Vegetarian restaurant in Chinatown. Of all vegetarian restaurants we been to, this place has a great gluten free dishes to choose from. - Salt & Pepper ribs - Sweet and sour ribs - mochi with coconut, peanut filling - parsley rice noodles rolls - pinenut fried rice - chicken ho fun Everything was delicious as always. Definitely coming back

Came here last night with a friend. The service was exceptional! Really fantastic and intuitive, cleared everything as it was finished. Refilled tea without being asked. Top notch! We ordered the turnip cake which was fantastic, great texture and fun to eat, with the sauce decent flavor. Steamed dumpling platter was okay, I don't think I love vegan dumplings. I was happy to accommodate my friends kosher needs and was just damn happy to see him.

The food is as tasty as you would hope for. Prices are fair. Atmosphere is mellow. It's surprising how good vegan food can be. Expect a line at peak dinner times.

Surprisingly really good vegan dim sum. I've never had vegan dim sum before but thought this place was comparable to a non-vegan dim sum joint. Took my vegan friend here who was visiting and she was obsessed! She wanted to go back immediately! Between the two of us, we got the turnip cake which was good with the sauce, the soups dumplings, cha siu bao, and the house congee. That was probably the best congee I've had from a restaurant everD the textures were amazing it had peanuts and tofu strips and friend tofu skins. It was my favorite dish by far.

I once ate at this restaurant about once a month since my barber was right across the street, but got tired of its food after maybe 5 visits, and found other, better, eateries around the barber shop. One day, after a bad experience with steamed buns nearby, I decided to give this place another try as it had been many years since my last visit. It's always crowded, as it's very popular with non-vegetarian diners. I ordered Laksa, and it came in a huge bowl - yes you can always expect very generous servings here! But the Laksa tasted quite strange, with a tomato based broth (instead of coconut milk) that was very sour, and with cheap chili paste that tasted ... cheap. It was full of button mushrooms and fake meat that smells and tastes like a block of chemicals. The best feature of the Laska was hand-made noodles. I'd have those noodles again even just by themselves! However, this may just be my last visit to this restaurant.

A MUST have!!!!! Service and food are excellent!! Can order dim sum and larger entrees. All dishes are vegan! The first time I've ever had vegan soup dumplings which I highly recommend!!!!! Dishes came out as they were made not all together. Recommend ordering several dishes to share. My favorites so far were the soup dumplings & veg chicken chow fun. All food was fresh and flavorful. Also had the sweet and sour ribs which were delicious however if you don't like soft food this might not be for you- was softer than I thought it would be. Veg meat rice roll was good and enough for 2 people. Will come back and try more!

Met up with an friend who I hadn't seen in almost 10 years. He suggested this place as it is one of his favorite places. Not too big of a place but there's about 10 tables inside. The food was very flavorful and at a good price. Had tea for the table. The servers were nice. We came here about 45 minutes before closing so they were doing their best to get food to us quickly. I'll come back and try to come a little earlier in the evening so I can take my time enjoying the place. Overall 5 stars!

We recently went to Bodhi Kosher Vegetarian Restaurant. Kudos for everything being vegan with an extensive menu. The lunch special was affordable and tasty aka entree with tofu vegetable soup and brown rice for just $8.95. Pretty substantial portion. I got the shredded shiitake mushroom with broccoli and my girlfriend got the bean curd with organic mushroom with basil. Both of us enjoyed what we got. We also got an order of steamed cantonese dumplings. I ordered a mango smoothie and was expecting it to be fresh yet it was prepackaged so returned it. The service wasn't that great so minus one star and minus a star for the smoothie. Everything else was on point so a solid four stars.

Uff!! Amazing service! Bodhi has probably one of the most friendliest customer service in the entire city. However, I was not a fan of their food. It could have been just a personal preference. I came here with a friend who has been vegan for years. I am not opposed to vegan or vegetarian food at all, but I couldn't eat most of these dim sums. I think I would have been happier with the vegetable fried rice. My friend ordered the sticky rice sesame ball, fried taro dumplings, Veg Shrimp Rice Roll, watercress dumpling, spring roll (this was the only thing I could actually eat), pan fried bun (not bad either), steamed pea leaf dumpling (I really couldn't stomach this one), and I can't remember what else. I am giving it 2 point something rounded up to three. This place has wonderful reviews, so maybe it's just my preference.

The OG spot for vegan Chinese food. One of the best and longest running places to get vegan food in NYC. I've never dined in the restaurant, but have ordered food multiple times and this place never fails me. Must get: CHAR SIU, some of the best vegan char siu ever! Taste so close to the real thing!! In addition get some of the CHAR SIU BAO (steamed & baked)! TURNIP CAKE, their turnip cakes have a strong turnip flavor and you can tell it's home made. CEDAR RICE, one of my favorite fried rices, this dish is very unique to Chinese Buddhist vegetarian restaurant. It has a pine nut flavor and the portion is amazing! Bodhi Kosher is one of the best vegan spot in NYC, and bit hidden. They serve delicious vegan Chinese food and their portions are generous and prices and cheap. Part of me wishes to keep this place a secret, but people need to know how good they are. With so many vegan restaurants popping up in NYC, this old gem needs more love.
