came here for the first time years ago and loved the food. it’s even yummier now! so delicious and friendly service. my food came out quickly and was so fresh and warm. I love the message they are trying to share as well. one of my favorite food spots. wonderful (:

Great vegetarian food. I highly recommend trying this place if you like vegetarian food once in a while. We tried the tofu orange chicken equivalent, stir fried glass noodle, and sesame ball dessert (it’s fried with mung bean filling). Both dishes were really nice and light and felt really healthy. The dessert? 10/10 her personal favorite. The nuns and volunteers are easy to talk to and accommodating. The food and service definitely reminded me of my Buddhist temple that I used to go to. protect this place at all costs!!! the food is amazing AND vegan! this is my comfort place for Viet food & I'm not even vegan. i come here so often that the lady recognizes me when i order online lol. they will temporarily close every now & then & i get sooo sad when this happens. their prices for the portions are unbeatable. i order diff things every time & have never been disappointed. my boyfriend is a meat eater & he can't even tell the difference its THAT good.

Good vegan place for a quick bite. Stopped by on our way to San Antonio, looking up in Google. Liked the Vegan options, the food is very tasty and not bland, the spicyness is not too 🔥 with a touch of sweetness to it. The bubble tea is about OK, felt like made from bubble tea powder from the store. Otherwise, we loved the food, Austin warm afternoon, sitting under a tree shade having the lunch.

Nuns in a food truck parked behind an insurance shop sling vegan plates TNTC. These sisters are single-handedly keeping Austin weird. Eat here now before they decide it’s better to pray for the world than cook for it.

We liked it a lot! Had an expert in Viet food with us and they enjoyed it too. The Mango drink was one of the best we've ever had. I had the pad thai and it was delicious - great balance of spice, savory, and perfectly cooked seitan pieces for protein. Good amount of food and lots of menu choices. Definitely look for signs for the food truck upon arrival. The food truck is tucked behind a psychic, and we had to search around. Limited seating outside; it takes a little bit for the Buddhist nuns to make the food but well worth the wait. Definitely try it out!

This is my favorite vegan take out spot. I’ve tried so many of their dishes and have loved every one of them. I really appreciate how much cheaper this place is comparison to other vegan spots!

This is my favorite vegan food in all of TX! I can't describe it any other ways other than delicate, balanced, nourishing, and flavorful. Everything is good and makes my body and mind feel happy after eating it. Also the nuns who run the food truck are so kind and even remembered me after I hadn't been in a few years today!

Run by monks and hidden in the back of some parking lot, Bodhi Viet food truck provides authentic Vietnamese cuisine at a reasonable price. The monks are super nice and welcoming, and it's clear that they're not trying to make the largest margins, but instead provide for their temple and bring tasty Viet food to the masses. You can't go wrong with their $5 banh mi's, Vietnamese coffee, or really any of their entrees. I know they only sell vegan food, and while I personally enjoy meat in my meals, whatever meat alternative they use is strikingly similar to real meat. Despite their limited hours, please do yourself a service and try this food truck!

They offer variety of vegan food options! And the food is mostly delicious! If you are not used to vegan food tho, it may be a bit strange at first, however, the food itself is very delicious if you don't have certain expectation it to taste like meat. We ordered banhmi, noodle, bao buns. My favorite was the cold noodle! Must try! Service was great. The nuns there are very friendly, I was there as a last customer, and they still were super accommodating!

You have the whole pan-Asian gambit to chose from, including classics like lo mein and kung pao, but if you leave without getting banh mi, you're doing it all wrong. That's not to say it's an easy decision; you have to make the painstaking choice between spicy lemongrass seitan, braised tofu, meatless balls, or vegan char sui, but don't agonize over it. Any protein you pick will shine against the backdrop of crisp pickled vegetables, cilantro and on a soft demi-baguette. Another must-order are the golden fried rolls. Wrapped with care and stuffed with a vibrant mix of fresh shredded vegetables, their exteriors are impossibly flaky and delicate, shattering instantly with each bite. Paired with a sweet peanut sauce, they're utterly irresistible. You get four pieces per order, which seems like enough to share, but I promise you it's not. Make sure everyone gets their own or be prepared for a fight. It's wise to plan in leftovers when you order, because the only disappointment in this operation is their difficult hours that are beyond limited. You only have Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 11am to 6pm, to get your grub on. I can't be mad though. For a delicious, affordable, and heartwarming vegan meal, it's well worth the effort to visit. Don't be surprised if you leave feeling not just satiated, but a touch lighter in spirit, too.

Super delicious Vietnamese food with outdoor seating only. We tried a variety of food and it was all really tasty and flavorful. Only thing I'd add is not to get the spicy lemongrass seitan with steamed rice if you don't like extra spicy food. This was way too spicy. Everything was so good! Seating is simple. We sat on folding chairs and dined on folding tables. Make sure you're dressed for outdoor weather unless you're doing take out.

Delicious, affordable, humble dishes from a food truck of monks. I'm no vegetarian, but I can't deny that Bodhi is doing everything right. I will definitely be back for more, but their banh mi and seitan noodles are delish!

This review is very near and dear to my heart for many reasons. Firstly, this food truck is ran by the nuns at Huê Lâm temple! My family goes to this temple and these were the same nuns who led the funeral procession at my aunt's funeral. The head nun built the food truck from the ground up with her savings and the temple survives off of donations and the nuns and volunteers' hard work. So, all of the proceeds of this food truck also goes straight to supporting the temple. :) Definitely check this food truck out even if you are not vegan/vegetarian. The price is super reasonable and the food is delicious. My Vietnamese mother and relatives love this spot since this is the same food that is cooked for temple-goers. Now, they can have it whenever they want. There is plenty of parking space in the lot. Once parked, just follow the signs to the truck in the back. It is not loud at all so it's a great spot for a peaceful and quiet lunch. There is not a lot of seatings so I recommend ordering take-away. Also, they take both card and cash! Came here for an early lunch on a Saturday and ordered ahead for pickup. While there wasn't much of a line I recommend doing the same since everything is made to order and there's a small staff on hand. There also isn't really a place to sit so I wouldn't recommend planning on eating here. This spot had been on my radar for a while as a very different looking Vietnamese experience compared to what I've had elsewhere and I couldn't have been happier with it! The menu has all sorts of dishes that were new to me and the only struggle was narrowing that down. The overall quality of the faux meats stood out across all the dishes. They were super flavorful and didn't have any odd consistencies that I've often encountered with other fake meats. I particularly enjoyed the vegan ball baguette. Usually baguettes used for banh mis are a little too hard for my taste, but theirs was a bit softer and great as an overall sandwich. They have a lot of sweet desserts that I'll definitely be back to explore, but we decided to try the taro bao this time and thought it was also delicious. The bun was super soft and they absolutely nailed the taro flavor. As is often the case with non American cuisines further from the city center, they are a fantastic bang for your buck. My partner and I shared 2 entrees, an appetizer and dessert for $18. It wasn't as massive of an meal as you'd get by that description in a sit down restaurant, but we were plenty full afterwards. Overall I'd say this is one of the best Asian food experiences I've had in Austin. Can't recommend them enough and would definitely advise coming with a large group to try as much of the menu as you can!

AMAZING food and purpose!! I have never seen this many vegetarian vietnamese options in one place. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Their mission is very commendable and the nuns who run the truck are super sweet. Would highly recommend this place!

First of all, the prices blew me away. So cheap wowza. One plate was less than $8. I have never seen that in austin in a long time. Got the char siu Banh Mi. The meat did not remind me remotely of real char siu. The bread was not the greatest bread in my opinion, it was so soft not my preferred banh mi bread. The veggie steam buns were the best thing we got. So flavorful and packed full of veggies. The shaking beef was interesting. The beef was not beefy at all but the dish overall went together well. Everything here is so healthy, my gut left feeling clean. There are two tables outside the truck for community style eating which is a fun twist. I got to talk to many random people sitting next to me! Cheap food, would come again.

So, when you get there - walk to the back yard because it's easy to miss if you're not paying attention. I almost left. I had a bahn mi that was absolutely incredible. This really is vegan heaven. Healthy and junk options. Come and pig out!

Our go to place for light and flavorful vegan Asian food ! Spicy lemongrass seitan is to die for! Rightly spiced and so flavorful and they serve it with rice and veggies . The pineapple curry is another favorite ! The salty lemonade is very light and refreshing and we always make sure to get it with the food . Definitely recommend if you like Vietnamese/asian inspired vegan food .

I am saying this as a picky eater from Houston, This place is legit ! Bun Bo Hue is my favorite so far, their broth is amazing and as close as it gets to the original. The curry has more of a pineapple taste but it still a great choice. The banana steam dessert is to die for. It's amaze me how many food items these small food truck can pull of to be honest. The truck is run by a few monks , they are super nice and friendly. You can even call ahead to order, just know there will be at least 5-10 mins wait especially on a friday. This has become one of my favorite spot to visit weekly now and I am sure there will be a lot more to enjoy on the massive menu they have to offer ! Parking : park in front or they have a small lawn in the back. The food truck is tucked away in the back so just in case you think you are in a wrong spot.. you are not ;)

Everything here is amazing!!! The prices are the best in this town too. I rarely get to eat here though because I can't get it delivered, but when I do go I stock up and get lots of things because I don't know when I will be able to go back. I want it right now, i want it all the time. If you have never been, it'll be tricky to find because it's in the back of another building and you can't see it from the street. highly recommend!

Food could use some salt and umami (Especially because all the meat is vegan), but it's all exceptionally tasty considering it's run by nun out of a trailer in the back yard of a hair salon. There are only two tables and maybe eight chairs, so ordering pickup is the way to go. I got a vermicelli bowl and glass noodles with "protein", both of which benefitted from soy sauce. I would be here more often for healthy lunches if they were open more days of the week.

The food here is delicious. I keep forgetting to take pictures because I just dig in when I get it! The shaking beefless is rally good. I love the texture of the "beef" and the sauce is so tasty! The appetizers are delicious, boba is nom and not too sweet, everything is wonderful! Everything is really reasonably priced too! The staff is friendly and helpful. The menu says everything is vegan unless noted otherwise. I couldn't tell what wasn't vegan so I asked and apparently, to my understanding, everything is vegan unless you ask for non vegan stuff to be added or used in your dish!

Loved the food I tried here (golden fried rolls, dumplings, and Singapore noodles! The stick rice looked amazing too. Can't wait to go back and try other things on the menu - they have so many options!

It's been several years since I've been here. I want to go back now that I made the leap from vegetarian to vegan. Seeing the reviews and pictures, I see a lot of styrofoam containers which just makes me sad. We can't recycle styrofoam in our curbside garbages. I do save styrofoam and take it all to the Austin Recovery Recycling Center down south. So my question is, can we bring our own to-go containers? I will if you let me. Let me know. Thanks!

What an amazing concept and love that they're bringing this to Austin. It reminded me of when we used to travel extensively two decades ago and mention that we're vegetarians - the simplicity of the food we'd be given, without the complex flavor profiles today's vegan food offers. My review is also a PSA - I'm gluten intolerant and while most of their dishes mark the GF sticker on the menu, not all of those dishes are actually gluten-free. I was told that S1 is gluten-free for sure (same for the dumplings) but when I opened the box, I had a strong feeling it's wheat noodles. After speaking to 3 different people, they acknowledged the error. Possibly, because the place is mostly volunteer-run, there's a gap in communication. I mean, every appetizer is $3 and any entree only $6!

I couldn't think more highly of this place! The location is quirky and charming. The Chefs are kind and prepare some truly amazing fare. The prices are hard to fathom (so cheap) given how delicious it all is. 11/10 would recommend

I have been dying to eat here for over a year but location and hours have made it hard. I finally ate here today... I AM IN LOVE. The amount of options? The price? The adorable Buddhist woman working the truck? It was all perfection. I love that it's hard to find. A bare bones trailer with a meager sign, and behind some old small building. I love the service. The woman was all smiles as she giggled and told me that as a first time customer, I should just go down the menu, item by item to try out. And I loved the food. The adorable woman working the truck pointed to the new menu item sign she was taping to the side of the truck and said in broken English, something about it being an authentic recipe she brought to the establishment. The food was insanely favorable! The item she pointed to was the rice patties. I didn't think twice before adding it to my order. The broken rice and meat was perfect as well as the spring rolls! Which brings me to... the price. And of course I loved the price! The three items I ordered totaled to a whopping $13! You can't beat that for the variety, flavor and adorable service. I will be eating here any time im in the area and they're open. End rant.

This place was amazing. There are good vegan spots, but this place went stupid. I feel like I could take anyone here and they'd love it, meat eaters included. The tofu was great, but the taro bao....is something I have dreams about. Everyone needs to try these things. The food was pretty cheap as well (like $8 for an entree), and I like that the money goes to helping out with the temple the food truck is run by.

Finally made the trip to this food truck. Lots of choices at this vegan Vietnamese place. All the food seems pretty simple but it was fast and affordable. We had bbq soy protein with noodles. Dumplings Bahn Mi (it's on the menu as sharshui on a baguette) a steal at $3 I wasn't blown away but would definitely try some more things. The bahn mi was my favorite thing.

I crave Bodhi all the time!! Recommend calling in order ahead of time so its ready to go. Can't go wrong with any dish. Everything we have tried has been amazing. V1 is too good! Brocolli seitan is delicious. Excellent pricing. Very affordable.

I visited Bodhi for the first time today after years of meaning to try it. I was a bit disappointed, but feel like maybe I went on an "off" day. I love the concept and variety of the menu - affordable healthy food that'll fill you up, and lots of vegan/gf items to choose from. The customer service was really sweet. However, the execution of the food didn't live up to what I expected it to be. I ordered the orange tofu rice plate, and the sauce was so bland I could barely taste the orange. It came with some cabbage, green bell pepper, and onions for $8. Although it was cheap, I feel that I definitely got what I paid for in terms of the amount and quality/variety of the ingredients. My mom got a vermicelli plate, which she thought came with tofu, but when we got home (we got it to go), there wasn't any on it. Perhaps that was our fault for not understanding the menu, I'm not sure. It was noodles, and some shredded cabbage and carrot with a fried roll on top for $8. Again, although it was cheap, I feel like we got what we paid for in terms of amount and quality/variety of the ingredients. If you're looking for cheap and healthy vegan and gluten-free food, that is prepared quickly and with kind customer service, this fits the bill. However, I wouldn't necessarily expect great taste or quality execution. I'll consider coming back in the future to see if it really was just an "off" day for them!

Low cost budget friendly vietnamese food. Run by nuns and they know what they are doing. Can get busy and sometimes (not so frequently) they mix up the order. Taste wins but can get little mild on the flavors on few items. Definitely worth your money if you haven't tried Vietnamese food (not the fake ones out there) Just let them take your money and enjoy. Just do it.

This place is simply lit. I get the braised tofu and Vietnamese coffee because they're the first things I ever tried and they were so good I can't order anything else. The braised tofu is super fish-like and so juicy. I always feel full and healthy and happy eating here and that's not even taking into account the affordability and awesomeness that is this place being run by Buddhist nuns. Hell yeah. They're so nice. Don't miss it!

This truck is a gem! I tried them out during SXSW one year (sigh, COVID ) and have kept coming back. For the curious, you can't tell that it is not real meat. The seasoning and texture is on point. My Asian parents had NO idea and are big meat eaters. I usually order the R2 and V5 with a salty lemonade (my favorite drink...maybe of all time??). Bonus: the workers are volunteers and the proceeds are dedicated to their temple where they source some of their fresh veggies Call ahead to grab some fresh, homemade Viet food that is good for you, the planet, and your local community. So happy when I found out that they reopened! No change in prices. Everything is still $6 or less and they have a couple of new items on the menu. Went ahead and got my favorite which is their vegan bun bo hue. Also tried their braised jackfruit and eggplant. I recommend calling ahead to order. Sometimes they have a lot of order and can take a little long to cook the food. Definitely check this place out. I am a big fan even though I am not vegan.

Yay! I love that this place is super weird. It literally is just like a random trailer in a parking lot and everything is served by buddhist nuns (female version of a monk) and they really do have their heads shaved. (I knew male monks shave their heads but I didnt know the female ones did too). ANYWAYS - I do get super excited when I hear about vegetarian/vegan spots because that means I have more options than just one salad to choose from. And they did not disappoint with the variety. They have 'fake' meat in a lot of their dishes so if you are not a fan you can let them know and they will probably leave it out. The 'meat' tasted good - and the dish overall had good flavor. I got the vegan yellow noodle stir fry. My husband who eats meat said that this was one of his favorite veggie places so far. I was mixed on giving this place a 4 or 5 because one thing that was strange was that the food was a little cold. Maybe it was supposed to be that way? Ill definitely come here again though to check out more dishes!

Everything was delicious. I had a taro tea, and a lunch box with pineapple coconut curry that came with a soup and fried spring rolls. First of all, that's so much food for $10! While we were eating, the cashier noticed my son being picky so they offered me a banana dessert for him to try at no charge. He absolutely loved it and ate it all. It's been a while since I experienced truly generous and kind service. This place is almost 30 min away from me but I'm definitely going back to support this business.

This unassuming little food truck, tucked behind a little strip mall-type place, is truly a hidden gem! The staff are incredibly friendly, and the food is incredible. My favorite are their lemongrass banh mi. I have not had such a delicious banh mi even when I wasn't vegan. They also have a variety of terrific noodle and rice dishes. I wish they had more hours (they are only open a few days a week from 11-6), but I make it a point to visit if I am in that part of town on a day they are open!

Nothing but good vibes and good food from this food truck. It can be tricky to find at first, but the food truck is in a parking lot behind the Psychic shop on Parmer. Once you arrive, you can select between a plethora of different options. I bought 2 banh mi sandwiches, 2 Baos, fried egg rolls, dumplings, 1 order of Orange Tofu and 1 order of Mapo Tofu. OH, and a bowl of Pho. All of this only cost $36. You read that right. The food was delicious! An added bonus was the superb customer service. The lady who took my order was just the sweetest person. She let me know it would be about 15m, and gave me another update before my food was ready. As I understand, local Buddhist nuns and volunteers run the food truck, so your $ is going to support them. What's not to love here? Win win. My only regret is not having tried this place sooner, since I live in the area.

The monks of old crafted quality cheese, wines, beer and champagne at their monasteries. So it's not surprising that the Buddhist monks of today offer up some excellent vegetarian and vegan cuisine from a food truck. Bodhi Viet Veggie Cuisine is located in a small, nondescript parking lot facing Parmer Lane, between Mopac and IH-35. It's a bit of a drive for me, but I can easily imagine it as part of the pilgrimage toward the long road to Enlightenment. Their daily meal #4 ($5 tax included) was absolutely delicious. Rice noodles, soy protein mock grilled meat, fried egg roll, pickled carrots and daikon, fresh greens of cucumber, mint and lettuce. The green onion oil garnish was a nice touch. Portion wasn't overly large but nonetheless made for a light and very satisfying meal. Looking forward to trying more of their menu!

I wish a had a place like this by me! And by that I mean at least in the same state. Even while I was in Austin this place was considered "out of the way". The location is probably the only complaint I have about it but hey, it works for them. The ladies that work there were so sweet and the foods were delicious. I love their concept. They are volunteer run, produce are majority homegrown, and meals are made from scratch. How is that not admirable just based off that? 100% of the profit is dedicated to their temple, as a person who grew up Buddhist that's something close to my heart and I will fully support. But it's honestly not hard to support such good food made by such good people. I will go back any chance I get, granted that's not often but I will spread the word.

We went here today for the first time and had an incredible experience! We got the Bodhi Spicy Hue noodle soup and Broken Steamed Rice. Apparently this food truck is run by Buddhist nuns at the Hue Lam Temple in Manor. The only difficultly was that the food truck is located behind a psychic shop so it was a bit hard to spot from the street.

Simple yet flavorful vegan food. Will go back for sure. It's not easy to make tasty food that is vegan or vegetarian.

Excellent food. Tried 3 bahn mi and they were all delicious but the bbq was the best. Got the Fried rolls and noodle stir fry, all exceptional. Plus the prices are so cheap. You get a lot of food for very little money. My only complaint is that the truck is in not the nicest area and they don't have much seating. Wish they had nicer tables to eat at. We ended up taking it to go.

Amazing! My husband and I were thrilled to have such a hard time choosing from the vast menu of 100% vegan dishes. Everything we tried was so delicious and party in our mouths. Very reasonable. We had the pho soup, dumplings, shaking beef less and they recommended the papaya seitan jerkey salad. That salad was our favorite! We had taro cake with coconut cream sauce for dessert. This will be on our regular rotation now!

I don't think there are enough words to describe how amazingly delicious the food is. The flavor is phenomenal and it's all plant-based. The taro boba tea blew my mind. I had the pho and it's still on my mind a week later -- I can't wait for Bodhi to reopen so I can go back! I also love their mission and the fact that all their vegetables are homegrown. Nothing artificial here. Their house made beef is out of this world. This place is a bit far from me but absolutely worth the commute. Best Vietnamese food I've ever had, plant-based or not.

We were there at 3pm and it was bustling for such a tiny place. If you're getting it to go, just call ahead! They have 2 fold out tables for those who want to stay. We had the seitan with banh hoi and the mapo tofu. It was great and neither of us are vegan or vegetarian!

If only I could give 5000+ stars... let me first get my flex out of the way. I'm 100% Vietnamese and grew up with both parents making delicious viet food from scratch and I can honestly say I like this place way better and could prob eat it everyday (just don't tell my mama that). I'm also a meat eater too and I think their meat substitutes tastes better than the real stuff. What type of magic sorcery is this? No clue, but what a shame it took me over a year to figure out I'm only 5 min from this place. Or maybe that's a good thing bc they would have to get a restraining order on me bc I would show up a scary amount. You must try it. The food is so good that I will more than likely convert into buddhism and join their temple for this very reason.
