Boiler - Review - Koreatown - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Boiler specializes in meat-heavy Korean comfort foods. Along with seollongtang that comes with a prehistoric-looking beef rib sticking out of the bowl, you’ll find dishes like grilled short rib patties and spicy baby back ribs covered in melted cheese. They even sell their house bone broth in sealed to-go pouches if you want to take some home. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Cathy Park

Best Under-the-Radar New Restaurant Openings to Check Out in Los Angeles, February 2025 | Eater LA

"A soup specialist with a simple menu centered on seollongtang, doganitang (ox knee soup), and yukgaejang (spicy beef soup). The kitchen also offers items such as spicy pork ribs topped with cheese, tteok galbi (marinated beef patty), and galbi-jjim, and sells its seolleongtong broth and meat in bags meant to be enjoyed at home." - Rebecca Roland

8/30/2025 - Boiler in Korea Town was open in February 2025. The restaurant is clean with four comfortable booths as well as nine open tables. The foods we ordered are excellent - the beef bone broth is simmered for 3 days, which creates a creamy and bight color of white broth while the thin beef is tender. The short rib taste is so delicious with the just right sweetness, which beats the same dish at the special dining restaurant in one of the cruise ships we had tried. Yes, the price here is high in comparison to others in KTown. A small free parking lot is available in front of the restaurant.

I went to this place after watching some Instagram videos. I do not recommend this place. All the food we ordered lack flavor. Had to add salt on everything just so it would have some flavor. Cabbage pancakes were dripping oil, pork ribs seemed to be cooked separately from the sauce so it lacked a lot of flavors, and soup was disappointing with lack of salt and flavor. Suyook salad was also missing a lot of flavors and it had too many onions with very few thinly sliced beef. Very disappointed 😞

Google
I was disappointed with my experience at The Boiler. The soup lacked depth and flavor, and the broth was very thin compared to what you’d expect from a traditional Korean beef soup. The meat was also quite fatty, which made the dish less enjoyable. Overall, it didn’t meet the standards of a good Korean traditional beef soup restaurant.

Google
Great hole in a wall. My new favorite spot for seolleongtang in KTown. Cute atmosphere, nice ceramics, the whole thing.

Google
Everything was delicious! So fresh! Their food is a little American fusion Korean style!! Very creative! And it tastes soooo good! A lot of drinks can choose! The staff have a great service attitude! They also have frozen cooked food for sale! Especially suitable for those of us who like to eat Korean food but can not make it at home! Super recommend to everyone! And is Free parking there! Which is amazing!

Google
Came here for Seilleojgtsng and love their grill ribs too! The Dotteokgal was so tender and flavorful. We also ordered the cheese spicy pork rib too and we both like it. The place is really clean and a lot of parking space without valet. The service is also great and we enjoy dinning here.

Google
LA best Korean beef soup, came here on a rainy day looking for something hot and soup, their beef soup hits you right away with the great sweet taste and you can customize to your preference. The beef soup combo is well worth the price! And their spicy beef gal bi tastes amazing! A huge plus is parking is free no headache!

Google
I’ve never tried the dine-in service, but I regularly buy their frozen seollungtang to boil at home and it’s absolutely amazing! The soup has a deep, rich, and nourishing flavor, and the portions are very generous for such a reasonable price. They also offer a spicy version (my favorite!) and even smaller portions for kids, which is such a thoughtful touch. I always stock up and keep a few packs in my freezer because it’s that good. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic, comforting Korean soup that’s super easy to enjoy at home!

Yelp
I came here the day after thanksgiving and tried out a few of their dishes, and was kinda blown away at how good the ribs were so I came back again this week. This place is absolutely amazing. I discovered it through the Yelp suggestions on random places to eat when you swipe restaurants and was so glad I picked this one. The spicy sullungtang is really good and you get the options of either having udon or purple rice. I picked udon and bought the sullungtang that came with a delicious and huge beef rib, along with soondae. It was great, but the star of the show was the next dish, which was an order of beef ribs. They were marinated in a galbi jjim sauce, which is similar to what you find at a place like Sun nong dang, but without the huge price tag. My order for the ribs were only $30, and while a kalbi jjim used to be $60 at Sun nong dan, now it's $95!!! Crazy!!! But these ribs were absolutely delicious and the sauce just gives it that touch where you just want to keep eating them. I am seriously considering coming back here once a week to get these ribs. I think they might even be more enjoyable to eat than Korean bbq. The panchan is really good and fresh too. This place is super spacious and is a small business that seems it could use more customers, and the service is really attentive and above par, so it's worth checking out. The only downside is they close at 9pm. Aside from that, this place has probably the best beef ribs you can get at a Korean establishment, so check it out!

Yelp
Cozy, comforting Korean food that feels like a hidden gem in K-Town. Boiler is one of those spots you want to keep in your rotation -- not flashy, but really solid every time. The space is clean and welcoming, with enough booths and tables for casual lunches or easy dinners with friends and family. People often describe the atmosphere as relaxed and homey, perfect for a warm meal any day of the week. Particularly what I enjoyed: * Seolleongtang (Ox Bone Soup) This is the highlight for me! a rich, slow-simmered broth that's clean but deeply flavorful. The soup arrives piping hot with tender brisket slices and rice, not much needs to be said lol * Galbi Jjim & Spicy Grilled Ribs VERYYY flavorful short ribs and spicy grilled pork that hold up well with the hearty broth and sides. The meat is tender and well-seasoned, a great contrast to the mellow richness of the soup. * Comfortable, Simple Presentation This isn't a high-end, Instagram-perfect spot -- it's genuine Korean comfort food done right. The plating is straightforward and unpretentious, which fits the restaurant's clean, casual vibe perfectly. * Friendly Service & Laid-Back Vibe People appreciate the welcoming staff and the thoughtful touches that make a meal here relaxing rather than rushed. The space feels comfortable and not overly busy, making it a great pick for lunch or dinner without the fuss. We only had this one lady running the shop cause we came late. But she was SO nice and SOOO sweet! I wish we got her name but her kid was there. Overall: Boiler is a dependable choice for hearty Korean classics in Koreatown. The broth-based soups (especially the seolleongtang) are the standout for regulars, and the meat dishes add variety and richness. If you want warm, comforting, authentic Korean food in a cozy setting with friendly folks behind the counter this place fits perfectly on that list.

Yelp
I absolutely loved the kalbi ribs and the tteokgalbi! Super tasty and tender. A little pricey for the amount of food, but I was full after sharing these dishes with my friend so it worked out fine. Huge plus for the parking lot, which is almost unheard of in Koreatown. I'll be back for sure!

Yelp
Great ambience and great food in this tiny while in the wall. Nice modern decor and very sweet service.

Yelp
Boiler in Koreatown is a really solid spot if you're craving a comforting, flavorful meal. The atmosphere is cozy and lively, perfect for both small groups and casual dinners. The broth was rich and well-balanced, and they offer a good selection of meats and banchan that all tasted fresh. The beef soup was good but can't compare to han bat , but they were generous for the meat , spicy one was better so flavorful, galbijjim was such a good price. Tender and so good Service was friendly and quick , the staff made sure our table was always taken care of. The portions were generous for the price, It can get a little busy during peak hours, so expect a short wait, but it's worth it once you're seated. Overall, a satisfying and good dining experience. I'd definitely come back again when I'm in K-Town and craving for soup and galbijjim

Yelp
This place was SO good! The beef bone soup was very pure tasting and came with thinly sliced beef brisket that was surprisingly super tender despite being in a boiling hot soup. We ordered the tteokgalbi and galbi jjim sets with each came with a soup and rice. The galbi jjim was a non-spicy, soy version and it was AMAZING. Honestly the best I've ever had in Ktown. It was my first time trying tteokgalbi, which is like a Korean meat patty - super flavorful! I definitely recommend coming here for lunch before 2 PM for their lunch special pricing. Free parking.

Yelp
Great spot for some hearty soup! Came by for some lunch with the family and this place did not disappointment. Very spacious restaurant with a very relaxing ambiance and plenty of parking. Ordering is done at each table with self-ordering kiosks, where each order is made to order, so be expected to wait a but. We opted for their boiler beef ribs yukgaejang and tofu seolleongtang, which were all delicious. Perfectly seasoned soup paired along with their tender meat and rice certainly hit the spot. Will definitely come back for some more when I am in the area!

Yelp
Great food, very nice mom & pop shop. You can tell they really care about what they're serving. Ordered the seolleongtang, which came out piping hot. Clean but rich tasting. I would've preferred an option for glass noodles, but the wheat noodles were good. Kimchi and pickled radish were very yummy (asked for refills!). Service is pretty hands off, but when you call using the screen, they come very quickly. There was a lot of soup left over, which isn't my usual experience with this dish, but I enjoyed being able to take some home for a little late-night snack. The meat was thinly sliced brisket and was perfect: tender and flavorful. Wish there was more, but that's just me being greedy. Totally missed that the galbijjim is priced so well (I'm used to get place with the giant plates that cost about $100).

Yelp
Food?? 5 stars!!!!! Service?? 5 stats. !!!!! Atmoshpere?? 4.5 stars..just because it was little too quiet..haha j/k Strongly recommend those hidden gem (newly launched) in LA K town... Thanks

Yelp
The Beef Ribs Seolleongtang at Boiler was rich and comforting. The broth was milky, deep, and full of flavor without being too heavy, and the beef ribs were tender and satisfying. Season it to your taste and pair it with rice and kimchi perfect for a cozy, soul-warming meal. Definitely a great choice if you're craving classic Korean comfort food.

Yelp
Food was phenomenal! For price point and taste it's well worth the money. First time visiting LA and not disappointed by the Korean food!
google avatar

Yelp
Really worth checking out. The combos are a very good value. I enjoyed the suyuk (boiled beef) and the cabbage pancake. They also have a good deal on Soju.
google avatar

Joanna L.

Yelp
Pretty yummy! I got a seolleongtang and it was good. I took home my leftovers and the soup gelatinized in the fridge - that's how you know it's good! I also tried the tteokgalbi (I got the combo) and it was pretty disappointing. It was very sweet and tasted like a hamburger patty. Service here is fine. They have a doorbell system with a machine that you can order from. I don't really love the machine, I feel like it takes away from the restaurant experience but it's fine. Prices here are pretty expensive. There are gender specific restrooms.

Yelp
Came for dinner on a weekend and there was no wait. I got the seoleongtang with beef ribs. It didn't come with noodles but it was really filling. They gave us a bowl of scallions and it was plenty to share. I also tried the galbi jjim, which was very tender and flavorful. I liked that the rice they gave us was purple rice. The banchans were kimchi, pickled onion, and radish kimchi. It would've been better if there were more banchan options. I liked that there is a parking lot with plenty of open spaces. The restroom and dining area were very clean.

Dan H.

Yelp
Very clean. Simple presentation and ambiance is very comfortable. Had the single order galbi Jim and the ox knee soup which were both excellent. I like the fact that they have smaller portion galbi unlike other places where you have to have 3 or 4 people just to order. Ordering via table side tablet was new but actually helpful. Note, the tablet is just for ordering and you pay normally through the server.

Yelp
Stumbled across this place because everywhere else had ridiculous wait times at 6:30pm on a Saturday. The parking lot and restaurant were totally empty. This is inexplicable to me as the food and service were great. I had the doganitang and my family had the seoleongtang and galbijjim. Everything tasted homemade and delicious. There was one staff member on duty, who was friendly and attentive (though I did have to speak Korean to communicate). Decor is upscale and references hanok latticework which is a nice touch.

Yelp

Yelp
Popped in 45 minutes before closing on a chilly Wednesday night and ordered the beef rib sullungtang and galbijjim to share. Everything came out fast and piping hot. The owner took her time to explain that the bone broth was boiled for 3 days and sans MSG. I loved how clean the broth tasted. Added a few pinches of salt and it was perfect. The galbijjim was tender and flavorful. Quick and delicious meal!

Yelp
Amazing soups, good service. Will definitely come back when we are in town The owner brought us short ribs when he realized that the dish we order was sold out. Ambience is very modern and super new.

Yelp
Highly Recommend This New Hidden Gem in Koreatown! I heard about this new restaurant in Koreatown through word of mouth and decided to check it out--and I'm so glad I did! The interior was spotless, and the staff was incredibly kind and attentive. We ordered the seolleongtang (ox bone soup), suyuk (boiled beef slices), yukgaejang (spicy beef soup), and galbijjim (braised short ribs). Every dish had a clean, rich flavor without any MSG, which made the meal feel both hearty and wholesome. "The boiled beef and braised short ribs I had with makgeolli were absolutely delicious." One of the highlights was the pumpkin fritters that the owner graciously offered on the house. Coated in glutinous rice flour, the fritters stayed perfectly crispy all the way through--an unexpected delight! We also took some yukgaejang to go, and honestly, it might just be the best in town. I'm already planning to come back with my entire family for our next meal. Highly, highly recommend!

Yelp
Visited this newly opened restaurant with great satisfaction. The portion is generous. Found the combo is beat for its value. The Beef rib jjim was so tender and flavorful, the meat falls off from the bone easily. We originally wanted to order the cheese spicy pork rib jjim, however they sold out rather quickly. The owner is kind enough to give us whatever was left on the house for us to try, the meat is again very soft, the sauce is perfect with rice. I don't usually like seolleongtang but I fell in love with this one, u can taste the soup has been cooked with lots of beef bones for 3 days, highly recommended. You can place order via the iPad, which is very convenient if u want to add order at anytime. Quite important in KTown - FREE PARKING!!! It's a hassle looking for parking in KTown esp. on weekend. Free parking definitely adds a big advantage Reservation can be made via Yelp
google avatar

Jihyuk K.

Yelp
I liked that clean interior vibe here and seolleongtang here was on point! All other dishes are recommended. The server or owner that helped us were so nice and helpful! I'm sure coming back for their seolleongtang again!
google avatar

Yelp
This spot turned out to be a nice find. I surprisingly had no trouble with parking when we arrived early Fri evening around 6. Everything I tried tasted very fresh and had a homemade taste. Their gopchang was excellent and highly recommended, especially if you're craving it without going to a gopchang spot and ordering a huge plate; it was less oily, the texture was chewy (rather than the typical crispy) but in a good way, and the garlic-flavored filling was delicious. The seullongtang was good too. I recommend.
google avatar

Mike C.

Yelp
I visited "Boiler" Seolleongtang(양지설렁탕) today at 338 Western Ave, and it was absolutely amazing. The rich, deep broth--simmered with care for three days--was incredibly flavorful. It was clean, savory, and melted smoothly in the mouth. The kimchi and radish kimchi served on the side complemented the soup perfectly. I'll definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Yelp
I had my lunch yesterday at this restaurant. The restaurant looks brand new. All furniture, utensils, dishes, etc. were very clean and new. The design is nice. The food was amazing, tasted nice and fresh. The lady who served us was very nice and very welcoming. The menu is digital on a tablet, mounted on each table. The only thing that O can mention is the price. The food is a little pricier than other places. However, I'm gonna give 5 star still since the server attitude and service was excellent.
google avatar

Max Y.

Yelp
Food was really good! The seolleontang was hearty, the kind of soup that makes you happily sigh after just a sip. I was worried that the medium-sized galbi jjim would be small with just five pieces, but they gave us big chunks of tender meat that were delicious with their banchan and purple rice. Service was very good and attentive, and the space itself is clearly very clean and modern. It was pretty quiet when we went but it looked like the entire plaza may have been recently built. A decently large parking lot is right there which is a huge plus in LA.
google avatar

Robert C.

Yelp
I came at 5 pm and they had a lot of seating. They also have a pretty big parking lot, so it was easy to park. Overall, the restaurant is pretty new and clean. I got the seollungtang + galbi jjim combo. The galbi jjim comes with 2 pieces. It's very tender and sweet. I wish it came with some vegetables though. The seollungtang was good too. I like that it came with purple rice and that the noodles came in a separate bowl. The beef was very tender. I wish it came with a little more meat and noodles though.
google avatar

Alice L.

Yelp
We came for Mr. Bossam (closed for renovations) but discovered something even more amazing, Boiler! It seems to be a husband and wife team running the restaurant, so always happy to support local businesses. Portions are hearty with enough for leftovers. The food was so delicious and really hit the spot. Authentic Korean food, we ordered the yukdaejang and sullungtang with a side order of the galbijim. You can tell a lot of time and effort went into creating the broth for the sullungtang - the broth was a milky white and smelled like a rich bone broth. Along with our soups, they served a bowl of purple rice and banchan of Kimchi, Kimchi radish, and pickled onions. We were lucky to find parking in the plaza on a Friday night, but we did dine at 6pm. Definitely a favorite spot now and what a delightful surprise.
google avatar

Sam T.

Yelp
Food is very good. We ordered both Seolleongtang Mix combos (one with SoTeokGalBi, the other with Soso galbijim) and we also tried the Cheese Spicy Pork Rib Jim and Bouller Beef Ribs Yukgaejang. They were out of the Cheese Spicy Pork Rib Jjim, so we changed our order to the Spicy Grilled Pork Jjim. The Seolleongtang was so full of beef flavor. Just a tiny amount of salt will help bring out the full flavor. The noodles on the side adds a nice touch. The Spicy Grilled Pork was saucy and a bit spicy, but it has a great balance of savory, sweet and spicy. The owners were very kind and brought out a few of the Cheese Spicy Pork Rib Jjim that they have left over. We are so glad to have a taste of those ribs as they were full of umami. The owners are super friendly and you can tell that they put their hearts into each dish and providing excellent service. Our group would definitely come back soon! P S. - I was so hungry that I forgot to take any pictures before we start eating, but am including a pic of the aftermath to proof how good everything was.

Yelp
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
Healthy, clean and delicious! Although they specialize in sullung tang, they offer other things on their menu like dduk galbi and galbi jjim. They don't seem to use much MSG and the taste is clean and refreshing. I recommend checking this place out!
google avatar

Christina K.

Yelp
We came here for dinner and was amazed by the quality of food! We ordered sulleongtang and the broth was very clean and beefy. The waiter told us they take out all fat, and it was true indeed! The restaurant is very clean and neat. If you're looking for a food to warm your soul, this place will be your go-to!

Yelp
For meat lovers...check this place out! Meat is tender throughout. I ordered the Seolleongtang combo. Soup base is delicious. Service is outstanding!
google avatar

Yelp
This place just opened up and is definitely worth a visit! Everything we tried was so good. The sulungtang was just as good as Hanbat and perfect for these cold nights. Staff is so friendly and on point. Will definitely be back! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Do not go!!!! Price too high and unprofessional service!! Disappointed !! For the food 0 star!!!!

Yelp
"Boiler Seolleongtang is so good! It's the best in K-town, LA, with beef bone broth boiled for 3 days! I love the owner and their crew as well!"

Yelp
비오는날 왔는데 국물이랑 왕갈비육개장이 넘사벽이에요. 국물냄새 하나도 안나고 타운에서 오랜만에 이 추운날씨 땀흘리면서 먹었네요:) 또 올게요. I just came here with my friends and I love this restaurant and really deepest taste for the beef soup. It's amazing I will comeback soon!
google avatar

Yelp
Sooo good!! So clean and refreshing taste. Great portions and really nice people. We had yukgaejang and sullungtang. Taste like a super comfy home cooked meal.

Yelp
Ingredients very fresh and the meat was great quality. The restaurant was really clean and has a nice set up. The owners were so friendly and gave great recommendations. Beef tongue was not on the menu but that can be added to your soup. Will definitely come back!

Yifan Z.

Yelp
Food is really awesome with reasonable price, much better than some overrated places in ktown. Service is great, as well as the environment: tidy and clean. Free parking is definitely cherry on top. 9.5/10 would recommend

Man M.

Yelp
Would recommend to others though I would likely not return because it wasn't to my palate. Wonderfully kind and sweet family who own the shop. All the food seem to be of very high quality. There was attention to detail and technique with the preparation of the dishes. I had the spicy pork ribs and the soup with tendons. My impression was that it was done exactly the way it should have been done and would please those looking for these dishes. I had different expectations of the flavor profile. I took some of the ribs to go and they put it in a container with a vacuseal top. How nice is that!

Eunice J.

Yelp
This place beats some of the best seolleongtang places in Korea Town. Their lunch special prices are unbelievable!
google avatar

Brian H.

Yelp
Owner is husband and wife. Very friendly, attentive and quick service. There's an order system at your table so that makes things super easy. Very very clean and modern. Food is DELICIOUS!

Scott M.

Yelp
Food is good. Price is good and the drinks are cheap. Not as busy as other spots. So I wonder if it will stay open.

Joohyun S.

Yelp
I ordered seolleongtang combo and suyuk sampler between 2 people. It says they boil seolleongtang for 3 days and I can definitely taste so. It's very flavorful. I like how they have the combo so the seolleongtang comes with small portion of galbijjim. I would definitely order galbijjim next time. I enjoyed the suyuk too. If you are not too familiar suyuk and seolleongtang are pretty similar, seolleongtang is more soupy. The banchan and sauce are great too. I like how they really care about the quality of the ingredients.
