12 Mayfair Restaurants For When You Don’t Want To Spend A Lot Of Money

"Boisdale is the kind of restaurant that has enough mahogany panelling, haggis, and taxidermy to make you think of Balmoral. Or Bambi’s mum. Either or. We’ll be honest, nothing about tartan carpeting and a cigar terrace leads us to think of affordable menus, and really a lot of the steaks here will set you back over £35, but just ignore all that and direct your attention straight to their classic hamburger for £10.75. It’s a thick Scottish beef patty covered in lemon-tarragon mayo and although the hand-cut chips are an extra £4, it’s definitely worth it, as they’re what us professionals call ‘fucking huge’. Heads up, there’s also a daily £1 oysters happy hour from 5-7 pm." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing

The 11 Best Restaurants In Victoria

"Whether you’re an MP or a proud tartan enthusiast, Boisdale is the restaurant for you. If you’re not either of those but are on the lookout for great steak or live music near Victoria station, then Boisdale will also work. The old-school Scottish restaurant serves haggis, whole grilled lobsters, and hefty slabs of prime rib-eye. Know that the dining room can feel a little serious, so for a more raucous time head for their downstairs bar. They have live jazz every night of the week, oysters delivered straight to your table, and classic drinks you can swirl in time with the music. They also have a cigar terrace if Cubans are your thing." - heidi lauth beasley, sinead cranna

Boisdale Of Belgravia - Review - Belgravia - London - The Infatuation

"Whether you’re an MP or a proud tartan enthusiast, Boisdale is the restaurant for you. If you happen to not be either of the above, but are on the lookout for some great steak or live music in Belgravia, then Boisdale will also work. An old school Scottish restaurant that serves things like haggis, whole grilled lobsters, and hefty slabs of quality steak, the dining room here can feel a little serious at times, but the same definitely can’t be said of their downstairs bar. They have live jazz every night of the week, oysters delivered straight to your table, and classic drinks you can swirl in time with the music. Come here for some Old Fashioned cocktails at 10pm, stay for the Rat Pack sounds and feel very suave. They also have a cigar terrace, so if Cuban cigars are your thing–hey, we don’t know what you’re into–you’re also in luck." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Politicians’ Favourite London Restaurants for General Election 2019 | Eater London

"Old-school restaurant serving steaks, gammon, and chips seeks old-school er... gent for a customer. Clearly Nigel Farage likes this place as he’s been spotted here on many occasions. Once with Boris Johnson. Once with “friends”. And last Tuesday, when the restaurant celebrated its 30 year anniversary. Obsessed much?" - Adam Coghlan

We had a fabulous Sunday afternoon at Boisdale. From the moment we arrived the staff were very friendly and the service was first class. The place itself has great character, the music was fabulous and the Sunday lunch was excellent as were the cocktails etc. Definitely a place we will return to as from what I heard from other guests, it's a great atmosphere every day.

Yelp
Went here for Sunday Jazz lunch. The place was pretty full and we had their three course luncheon with haggis and terrine as starters and beef and pork roast as the main course finishing up with Penna cotta and fruit crumble. The food was great. We had a bottle of Pinot noir with the meal. It was OK. The main challenge was service it was terrible. Inattentive , barely there gave us the wrong bill, .... Completely useless. The jazz and the bar setting was great and good music. With better service this could be five stars

Yelp
If you're looking for some classic Scottish food in London, this is the place. Definitely has a bit of a boys club vibe and at night they have a band that plays. We had lunch there and had the oysters, roast scallops and their famous haggis (I got the mini size which was perfect for lunch). We also got their truffle chips which was so good. The food was delicious and I was surprised how much I liked their haggis. It wasn't gamey like it is in other traditional places. Next time I'd try their steak and hope to review again.

Yelp
What a delightful Sunday Roast we had today. In London for New Years and decided to try the famous English Sunday Roast. As we love Jazz music, this offering at Bosidale of Belgravia was a must. We arrived on time and after a friendly greeting, shown to our seats. Besides having regular music performers and serving dinner, it is also a private club with a cigar room and if I am not mistaken a humidor room/cabinet. The atmosphere and vibe of the club is very relax, stylish and comfortable. I will start with the food, the price of the event included a 3 course meal, and a seat in the dining room with live music. I ordered the haggis as a starter, I never had it before and heard so much about it. It was delicious and I would definitely order it again. I had to force myself not to eat the whole thing as it was a pretty heavy starter and I knew there was two more courses coming. My main course was the prime rib roast, potatoes, cabbage, whipped potatoes and Yorkshire pudding, served with a claret gravy. Everything was good. The potatoes had a hard crispy exterior with a soft, creamy interior. The rib roast was sliced thinner than I am used to but it was fine with me as I couldn't finish it anyway. My husband had the pheasant terrine with curry slaw and bread. That was a nice size starter and my taste of it was delicious. For his second course, he had the pork roast, served with potatoes and chunky apple sauce. It was also sliced thin, but fatty. It came with a topping of crackling which is always nice! For dessert he had a fruit crumble served with crème anglaise and I had the vanilla panna cotta with a berry sauce. Both were delicious. We also ordered a bottle of wine. The only thing that was disappointing was the service. The server was kinda of scatterbrained and didn't check on us once. She took our water order but we still sat and waited for it for over 15 minutes. The floor manager was attentive and made up for the lack of service from our waitress. We would definitely go back again as there were other items on the menu I wanted to try. Highly recommend for the music and food.

Yelp
What an amazing location for cigars, cocktails, good food, and amazing music! Boisdale of Belgravia just seems to have it all! This is one of my dads go to spots for a night out in London, so he was so excited to bring us here! We started the night by hanging out in the cigar lounge, and even though we didn't try any of their cigars, my dad can attest that they are all very good quality! We enjoyed some cocktails and gin up there before heading down later in the evening for dinner. For dinner, we started with the squid and venison tartare, and surprisingly the venison tartare was my favorite! It was super flavorful and had a real nice meaty flavor to eat. For the entrees, we all ordered the filet mignon with truffled chips and peppercorn sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly medium well, and the chips were nicely crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The peppercorn sauce really tied everything together as well! For dessert, we enjoyed a sticky pudding and cheesecake, both of which were amazing. We enjoyed some live music while we ate, talked, and drank! This was definitely a lively evening, and we were here almost 4 hours enjoying ourselves!

Yelp
I found this restaurant while googling where to eat haggis in London. While on a business trip, I ended up coming here for dinner on a Monday evening without a reservation. The hostess at the front desk greeted me kindly, and directed me to another member of staff who took me into the dining room. I took a seat at a table, and they brought me a menu and water immediately. I opted for three smaller dishes, two from the British tapas part of the menu, and one from the first course part. The scotch egg and the Welsh rarebit were served soon after ordering. The scotch egg was absolutely delicious, with a crisp exterior, and just cooked enough inside. The Welsh rarebit consisted of thick, melted cheese on top of pieces of toast. It was heavy and moreish. Would recommend for any cheese lover. The haggis was served shortly after I was done with the smaller plates. I was only trying haggis for the sake of it, as it was my first time, but found that I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. It had a mincey interior, much like sausage, and a pleasant, meaty taste, which wasn't overpowering. It went well with the accompanying sauce, and the mashed sweet potato. I would definitely try this again. The service was polite and efficient. Prices were modest for London restaurants - for these three dishes, it cost me just under 20 pounds. Would recommend this place for either a group or solo dinner.

Yelp
Unfortunately I have to give this place a two star based on the grumpy bartender. For some reason he did not like the, "American" customers. The bar food is decent, it's too bad we felt uncomfortable.

Yelp
My husband and I was in London our first night. Came across this place. Entered and ask to buy a cigar. Lead upstairs, around a few corners and to a smoke room. Got 2 Cuban cohiba cigars and kept asking price, Guy says I will have to check. he than took us to the lounge, ask for price again. Still no answer. Got a match go light after offered at 90 dollar lighter. The guy kept talking and offered a Sample of Whiskey as " it sent with the cigar which we still had no price for!!! We were given 3 glasses (1/6 of a real shot when compares to the gUy to our right. An American, a finish, and another one that we still did not get a price for . Stayed 28 minutes and the bill 208.xx wow. Rip off and deceptive. Sad people.

Yelp
Went for dinner and a cigar, and really enjoyed my experience. We ordered oysters for starter which were absolutely amazing. Possibly the best oysters I had ever had. We then both ordered the steak and truffle burger, which was also solid. Whilst it wasn't as greasy as the Five Guys, it clearly was higher quality and nicer. We then moved to the cigar terrace, where we shared a cigar and a glass of hot toddy. The gentleman was very helpful with cigar recommendations, and my hot toddy was perfect for the chilly evening as well. Ambience was very posh and almost exclusive. I really enjoyed the paintings on the walk and the dim lights, typical of a jazz venue. Service was overall great. They could be a bit slow at times, depending on the crowd, but they were generally helpful and prompt. I'd definitely go back -- if I had the money, this would be my new go-to place in the neighbourhood.

Yelp
A fine Scottish evening. Great ambiance. Great food. Started with the haggis--of course. Then enjoyed a lovely fish dish. Scotch with the starter, wine with the main, and then Scotch for desert. There is also an enjoyable top floor patio/balcony for cigar smoking with a good selection of Cuban cigars.

Yelp
Service was extremely slow. I had to do the airplane wave to get their attention. Have and risotto were outstanding. Loved the blues too!

Yelp
I really loved the restaurant, very authentic, it's been there since 1780, the atmosphere is great, the service is excellent, the burger was fantastic, loved the hole experience.

Yelp
Update 27-11-2007: To cope with the smoking ban, the Boisdale has now provided a purpose-built Smoking Terrace for Cigar smokers, so cigar aficionados need not go without. It also solves the problem for those who do not want to experience others' smoke while they are eating. *************************** The Boisdale is a restuarant that arouses extraordinary passions: either you'll love it or you'll hate it. The theme is Scottish and masculine: the decor of the multi-roomed interior is dark, with lots of tartan and dark polished wood - rather like a gentlemen's club. The menu is Scottish and masculine too: lots of game, offal, well-hung Aberdeen Angus steaks, Hebridean shellfish, wild salmon and, of course, haggis. The bar menu is extraordinary by any standards: 200 wines, 200 whiskies (nearly 150 single malts), a huge choice of cocktails and over 100 varieties of Cuban cigar. There's a regular Jazz band too, which has become something of a feature here (see the web-site for listings). All this choice comes at a cost: expect dinner with wine to cost around £50 a head. But start on the cocktails, malt whiskies and cigars and, well, the sky's the limit. 12.5% service charge is added, and a charge for the Jazz (£3.95 if you are already there, £10 if you arrive after 10pm). You can spend £100 per person without really trying, and an awful lot more if you do. (An article on their web-site suggests that bills of £1,000 per person have been known...) Whether or not all this is up your street is up to you. They have, to be fair, begun including vegetarian items on the menu (not the case when I was first taken there) and you could keep costs down by ordering from the fixed-price menus, or even having a sandwich or burger at the bar. But I'm not a fan of drifting clouds of cigar smoke while I eat, nor of Jazz (which I actually like, but in a jazz club, not in a restaurant). Some of my male dining companions thought all this was fabulous, however, and would doubtless award it five stars - and there seemed to be plenty of other punters who agreed with them. The steaks, whiskies and cigars all came in for huge praise. Finally, a word on the service. I've found it extraordinarily variable: from the cloyingly sycophantic, through the decent and professional to the aggressively rude. And, for the record, I have always been taken there with someone else was paying the bill...

Yelp
I'm sorry to say I haven't tried a large part of the menu here. Why would I? This place serve the best burger I have ever had in my life. Specifically, the truffle burger. The truffle mayo mixes with the juices of the burger and makes everything so tender and delicious. Then you have the mushrooms and gruyere, which compliment everything else so perfectly. This dish will fill you up, so I wouldn't even recommend getting a starter or dessert. Now that I have that confession of true love off my chest, I can get on with the rest of the restaurant. Been here twice. The first time, I stumbled in and grabbed a seat at the bar. Even in slacks and a button-down shirt I felt dressed-down compared to everyone else, but the bartender was friendly and made me feel at home. Might've gotten some looks from the old fossil sitting next to me, but I was too hungry to care much. The cocktail list is extensive. Maybe not too outlandish, and a bit pricy, but you're sure to find something that'll hit the spot. Not a whisky fan myself, but you'll find a good selection of that as well. Ooh, and the whisky baba dessert! Give that a try if you have the appetite for it. They usually have live jazz, too. Watch out, they tack it onto the bill. It's pretty cheesy, too, or at least it has been the two times I've visited. Maybe not worth the money, but the old folks were getting turnt. The only really negative thing worth noting is that when I returned with my wife, she asked for a burger and it came with mayo, contrary to what the menu advertised. When the waiter went to take our plates and saw hers was largely untouched, he looked at her like she had two heads. She just didn't want to cause a fuss, but they made her a fresh one, at any rate. It was okay, but obviously the burger needs a bit extra to really stand out. It's right near Victoria Station, so you really have no excuse to not try this place, especially if you're a burger lover.

Yelp
My wife and I chose this place because it was advertised as a Scottish pub, and we were totally hooked on that concept. When we showed up, though, it was more like a player's club, a 'see and be seen' kind of joint, with white tablecloths, impeccably dressed staff (and several of the patrons, too), and a menu that treats fairly commonplace scotch like liquid gold. Not that 18-year-old Glenmorangie isn't special, but the prices for this stuff on the rocks were pretty steep. Plus, they barely had any beer. Seriously. There were a handful of options, but this place was all about scotch and cigars. We did get a 10-year Ardbeg to finish the meal, and it was good, but again - when you can get a bottle of the stuff for $50, there's no need to pay $25 for a glass. The food was decent. We had haggis (because, haggis), and it was delicious. The rest of the meal was sadly forgettable. Our server was a young lady who seemed to have a chip on her shoulder, or maybe she just has BRF. Either way, we didn't feel too welcome. And it's not like we were underdressed - we saw plenty of other patrons dressed casually, and it's not like we were decked out in beach gear. Maybe it was an off-day, but this place just did not have the fun, "Scottish pub" vibe we were looking for. If there were a Scottish pub in Vegas, this'd be it.

Yelp
Went here on a business trip, with 10 in our party. The place is very expensive to start with, but I think they saw us coming too. They had a "special", which was a porterhouse steak that had been aged 30 days, and weighed about 2 lbs. One of the guys in our group decided to try it. At the other end of the table, I had decided on the strip steak, and the guy next to me the filet. The waiter suggested that we order the porterhouse and split it.....I take the strip side, he take the filet side. Made sense, so we said sure. Guess how much that "special" steak was? 100 sterling pounds. Converted, that was about $151 USD. Shame on us for not asking, but OMG. The steak itself was pretty good, but I've had better in good 'ole Richmond VA for 1/5 the price. They like to slice the steak in strips, still connected to the bone, which in my opinion dried it out. The sides were good, the beer was good, and the atmosphere was good. Service was slow, but we did have a large party. All-in-all, I would try somewhere else.

Yelp
Oh how wonderful this place was! I came here on a Saturday night (my birthday) and had a wonderful time. To start, I had the Roast Macsween haggis with mash & bashed neeps, and while this was the first time I'd had Haggis, it was amazingly good! My only regret is that I didn't try Haggis sooner in life! I did add the Nogg of whiskey and it was delicious. That was accompanied by Marsannay Les Vaudenelles 2008, which accented it very well. For dessert I had the Raspberry cranachan cheesecake, also excellent. I'd gone in wanting to try the Macallan 30yr Fine Oak, but alas it was sold out. Instead I went with the Glenmorangie 25yrs, of which I ended up having two. Old enough to drink itself in any country, it was very smooth, dancing with flavors, and wonderfully balanced. I suppose the fact I ended up having two makes my point best o all. I decided to indulge and had an Epicure No 2 with my first glass of Glenmorangie 25, it was light-medium and very tasty. The taste was smooth and left a nice but not too strong aftertaste. There was live music, a Jazz/Blues band, and after making friends with one of the guys that happened to be a member he got us (and some very lovely ladies) seated right near the band. They were excellent and if any indication of the average band that plays here, something you'd be unwise to miss. As the evening was winding down I wanted one more drink and had a pint, though the name escapes me. The whole place was alive the entire time I was there. Had I not be alone I would strongly suggest reservations, but prepare to stay until closing as I did, you don't want to miss out. They are open much later than many places around, which is wonderful if you want a full night out. In short, this place is not to be missed.

Yelp
My friend had his 30th here, I happily went, but I'm going to admit the prices are above what I'd pay. We had a set menu but many people were deviating from it. However when I ordered I was informed I couldn't, despite half the table being served their requests. Honestly don't see why a standard burger should worry the chefs. The jazz night was great and the terrace upstairs is a nice feature that allows smoking, the atmosphere was lively and as I was with a group of wine experts, we had amazing drinks. Again, I was just put off by being told I couldn't have what I asked for.

Yelp
Went here for lunch on Friday; it was my first visit to this old school "Scottish" themed classic in over 6 years and not much appeared to have changed other than the introduction of the cigar terrace upstairs. After leaving my coat with the charming lady at the entrance I made my way through to the main room and joined the "legal eagle" at the lovely zinc bar where we had a cold glass of Morretti before being shown to our table. There was some confusion as we thought we had reserved a table in the more casual bar out back but we were given a great table for two in the main restaurant. After a bit of debate with our helpful waitress it was agreed that we could keep our table and still order from the bar menu (confusing I know but at the Boisdale they have a different bar and restaurant menu and never the twain will normally meet). Continuing our quest for the best burger in town we both went for the "dangerously hot" offering; a medium rare Aberdeen Angus rib steak pattie topped with chipotle chilli ketchup, red onion and jalapeños. It came in a seeded bun with a bowl of thick cut chips on the side. All in all it was pretty tasty, the burger had nice char and a good meaty flavour. The down side was that it could have been a little more moist and it was certainly not "dangerously hot" as advertised. However, I would say that most of the boys, and the smaller number of girls, in the Boisdale this Friday lunchtime did not appear to be the types who would be well acquainted with the delights of the chilli so it may well be that the regular punters would have found this pretty hot. Service was quick and we found our waitress attentive without being overbearing. I was deep in conversation with the "legal eagle" during our lunch but this can be a good spot for a bit of people watching if you are in the mood to observe the old school approach to afternoon indulgence. The menu here is big on meat and comfort food with a healthy nod to its "Scottish" branding i.e you can get a decent haggis, herring and good smoked salmon. It has a very good wine list and a great selection of whiskey but beware the prices are all a bit eye watering!! This is not a place to come if you are looking to bag a bargain or you want something to write home about in the way of your lunch or dinner. However, if you fancy a bit of a blow out, followed by a nice cigar and a dram or two, this is as good a spot as any in town. I will not be rushing back here in a hurry but I do look forward to a return visit in another 5 years or so. The quest continues!!

Yelp
OK nice-ish setting and kinda posh neighbourhood that -if you are a tourist- you might like ..but these guys microwave the Haggis!!! which is a blasphemy oh and average single malt is sold at 5 times the retail price sorry but this place is just 'meh'

Yelp
I went with a buddy to have a cigar on their roof lounge which was really nice. It was covered and felt very homey for being an outside space. I'm a little on the critical side of furniture and some of the details when I go to restaurants (how many times have you gone to a nice place where the furniture looks like it came from Ikea 8 years ago), so I was happy to see that the ownership took as much care decorating and furnishing the outside area as they did the restaurant. After a cigar and a few too many Manhattans we got the bill which, I have to say, was a little bit of a shock even for Belgravia. We went downstairs and got a table, ordered dinner and some wine. The food was...good. But not great. I don't eat a lot of meat but I got the 7oz filet which came on a plate all by it's lonely self. I got an a la cart portion of broccoli which was pretty good. The service was really good and friendly. There was live music which was outstanding!

Yelp
I'm definitely too poor to be reviewing this place. A fancy whiskey members club - too rich for my wallet! But I came regardless with a group of friends. This place is very old school London. Lots of toff types and old men in suits sitting down to dinner and swilling whiskey like it's going out of fashion. It really wasn't my cup of tea in terms of mahogany decor and carpets. But I can imagine if you wanted to take some relatives there and whoo them with fancy, it would work. You can also buy cigars here but by English law have to smoke them outside and not in a room. In winter that just seems like a bad idea. We sat in the back room which seems to be reserved for the young people types. I'm pretty sure if I was looking for a rich old husband who was on the brink of death, I'd find him here. Bad points: Service was brutally slow. Even to pay, it felt like I was ageing as I stood there. Good points: the fries with truffle mayo and the enormous ledger full of whiskey!

Yelp
One of the few outposts of civilisation near Victoria! Can't speak to the food but have stopped in for a drink a few times when working in the area. The red walls give the place a decadent feel to it and there are some fairly expensive wine options but enough reasonably priced ones as well. Good live jazz nightly and varies from nice and melodic instrumental early in the week to much livelier as the weekend gets nearer

Yelp
London, England Alright - time to set the record straight. During my recent visist to London, I was invited to this location for dinner by a friend who is a member. Cozy yes, (first floor), live jazz yes (first floor), good food Absolutely! First off, met my pal at the cigar terrace - had a drink and went downstairs for dinner. Keep in mind this was in early May 2013. I opended up with a special for the evening - Pigeon Salad, it was Amazing - PERIOD. Entree - I HAD to go with the Haggis - Full disclosure, I have never had the opportunity let alone tried Haggis prior to Boisdale's. Simply put I am not a Haggis expert - buit thier Haggis dish is something I can eat at least once a week until I am no longer on this planet. Service - the folks treat you like Royalty - smiles and amazing service all the way around. If... If I lived in London, I would eat here 2 to 4 times a month.

Yelp
Boisdale of Belgravia: not just for foodies and down in the dumps Scot Posted on 18 July 2012 Wondering where Andy Murray went to drown his sorrows following his defeat by Federer, in the Wimbledon final? I'm not sure of the specifics, but the Scot - whose startling skill made the Swiss maestro sweat last Sunday - could have and should have made a beeline for the Boisdale of Belgravia. Situated on Eccleston Street, an area that seems to go unappreciated by visitors and residents alike, Boisdale acts as an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of nearby Victoria station. Put simply this fabulous Scottish themed restaurant run by Ranald Macdonald, that's often referred to as the unofficial Scottish embassy in London, is a pure pleasure drome and thus the perfect place for Murray to forget his misery. There are six places to eat and drink - the clubby Back bar, richly panelled Jacobite room, Auld restaurant, Cigar Terrace (a top spot for smokers to beat the ban in style), charming courtyard garden with its retractable roof for, weather permitting, al fresco dining and, my favourite, the Macdonald Bar which manages to be large yet intimate, buzzy but private. The look is all deep red and dark green walls, mahogany and mounted stags' heads while sweet staff wearing Macdonald Tartan skirts will cluck and fuss over you. Once seated at your table in a tartan upholstered chair, treats - such as warm buttered roles - begin arriving immediately for you to munch on, while perusing the menu. Food is sophisticated but scrumptious. Expect Scotland at its best: think Loch Ryan oysters, Hebridean crab, haggis, Aberdeen angus aged steaks - said by Square Meal to be "incredible" - and smoked salmon. For a bit of stomach lining, I went for a girlie starter of asparagus that came in a truffle butter and hollandaise sauce so delicious I lapped it up like a kitten. Meanwhile my dining companion purred with pleasure over her Hebridean handpicked crab, accompanied by spiced avocado and melba toast (£12.50). As for mains, we can recommend the Dover sole served with buttered new potatoes (£29.50) and the filo pastry parcel of chestnut & oyster mushrooms, fennel and spinach, poached leeks, black truffle sauce (£14.75) - simply exquisite. And sides such as broccoli, ginger, chilli and garlic (£5) made me aware that cooking can be an art form. For dessert, do try the caramelised Bramley apple flan with15 year old Glenfiddich caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream - addiction on a plate. While the Boisdale was busy when we arrived at 7.30pm, it gets more boisterous later on in the evening when the well heeled customers begin to kick back - helped by the outstanding wine and whisky lists and nightly live jazz that starts at 10pm. Indeed the fantastic musicians whip the wealthy locals into a frenzy well into the wee hours, making the Boisdale one of the hottest places to hangout in Belgravia post midnight. Of course, this Scottish jazz, cigar and supper club does cost but believe me when I say the venue is worth every penny and sets standards few others match: we left a lot happier than when we arrived. All told if Andy Murray doesn't get to dine at the All England club's Champion dinner next year, he could do far worse than head to the Boisdale of Belgravia for a taste of the high life - and the Highlands. Need to know Boisdale of Belgravia 13-15 Eccleston Street, SW1W 9LX 020 7730 6922 Open 12 noon-1am (Mon-Fri); 6pm-1am (Sat) Transport: Victoria tube/rail

Yelp
Behold the haggis! Scotland's polarizing dish of sheep's pluck (heart, liver and lungs) minced with onion, oats, suet, spices and salt, mixed with stock and boiled in a sheep's stomach casing. Finding a good one south of the border can prove tricky, but you can't go wrong with the awfully offal version served up in grand Caledonian style at Boisdale of Belgravia. Yes, if you like your savouries with a side of masculine swank Boisdale is not to be missed. With its hunter green interiors and plenty of tartan accents, mounted buck heads, a meat-centric menu and a wonderfully extensive whisky list, this bar, restaurant and jazz club (replete with cigar terrace) is a manly sort of place. Expect to see tables full of be-suited older men intent to impress other be-suited older men. Still, a touch of the feminine blends in well: yellow roses at each table, lovely cutlery and dishware ensure that womenfolk can enjoy quality food and exceptionally polite and quick service as well. The menu is as exquisite as it is Scottish: Aberdeenshire steak, Hebridean salmon, Orkney herring, Ayrshire bacon and, of course, haggis. Boisdale's roast Macsween haggis is gorgeous and robust with a not-so-subtle black pepper bite. It's brilliant as a starter. The mini roast Macsween haggis with mashed and bashed neeps (as part of their two courses for £18.90 Jacobite Menu) is certainly a winner as is the house speciality first course offered with caramelised diver-caught South Uist king scallops, saffron mash, dry cured bacon and minted pea puree for £13.50. But, for heartier appetites, the full-sized roast Macsween haggis with neeps from the Jacobite menu is definitely the way to go. A complimentary starter for this hefty treat is the pickled Orkney herring with dill, new potatoes and hot wasabi dressing which may just have my vote for the best pickled herring in London. It cleanses the palatte allowing every bite of the haggis to be savoured. The mashed and bashed neeps blend splendidly with the minced bits of the haggis. For those feeling particularly peckish, consider the 2.5cl noggin of Johnnie Walker Black 12 year for an additional £3.25. Dining at Boisdale is a truly scrumptious experience and is the top way to enjoy haggis this side of Hadrian's Wall.

Yelp
Shhhhh, don't tell anyone. If you just want a drink, they'll let you into their bar-within-a-bar for a pint and snacks in a relaxed business atmosphere. A nice change from the crowded chain pub across the rest of Victoria. They have a classy bar and reservation-only dining in the rest of the house, but the secret pub is the real treat.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic!!! If you enjoy great service, amazing Scottish whiskey and live jazz... GO HERE. The food is also delicious and the vibe is so perfect at Boisdale. I was lucky enough to find it on Yelp when I was in town on a business trip and I had to go a second night with colleague after my first experience. Both nights and all the people --- perfect!

Yelp
This was my first experience in a restaurant in England and I was pleasantly surprised. I had welsh whisky, Scottish haggis, French wine, and a British ribeye steak. Everything including the service was beautiful. (Even the haggis).

Yelp
The truffle burger here is absolutely incredible. The beef is also very high quality, so go ahead and order it rare! It's fantastic. I can also highly recommend the smoked salmon and the steak tartar. Definitely a nice place to eat lunch!

Yelp
I love this place. They used to serve a salmon cerviche and it was wonderful. So simple and tasty. I wish they'd bring it back. The food is generally of a very high standard and I just love the atmosphere and the decor. The outdoor space upstairs is a wonderful place to just have drinks and cigars too. Sometimes I've been and there was live jazz music. Wonderful.

Yelp
I have to say while I loved the place I went in my recent trip to London. This is by far the best so fast; the food (steak ) was amazing; the Jazz playing and table side candles impressed; the wine selection was long but worth it. If I had a relative visiting this would be the must not miss romantic/steak dinner place. I will be a regular here when I move to London no doubts.

Yelp
You'll never get tired of this place - wonderful decor and lively atmosphere (without being too much). Prefect cigar terrace and the steak is London's best.

Yelp
I had a nice dinner at the Boisdale, It's a good place if you are up for traditional English food served with no pretensions, good beer and wine in a classic atmosphere. You can smell the history of it's jazz club , in that sense comparable to Ronnie Scotts, though definetly more upscale. Good for chatting the night away without any stress.

Yelp
This restaurant/cigar bar is amazing!! My boyfriend, colleague and I went here on a whim because they both enjoy cigars. Not knowing we needed a reservation, we walked in and Antonio and his team got us a seat right away upstairs to smoke cigars and order dinner. We loved this restaurant/ cigar bar so much that we came back the night after to have dinner again!! Thank you Antonio and team!!

Yelp
Cigars, whiskey, great music ... what a great place. It sort of has that ambience of a gone by era and it really is a great place. Well worth a visit - and not ridiculously expensive either.

Yelp
The trick here is to eat at the bar where they serve the best hamburgers with truffles in town. Add a glass of Malbec and it is just sheer perfection. Probably the best burger in London! Then add the live Jazz at 10pm and what more can I say...

Yelp
I had to give this place five stars because from the food to the ambiance to the service I just wanted to move in. The servers are jus so well mannered and delightful to converse with and always are so informative from their fine selection of whiskey, wine, to their cigars. Yes even Gloria was enjoying a nice Monte Cristo. There is a very cool vibe throughout and the food is just great. I had the filet on the bone .That was so wonderful that I had to look to the right then to the left because Gloria went in deep and picked up the bone to finish it Forgive my un-lady like ways but Gloria was enjoying and was not going to be denied that moment. My mom would've slapped my hand if she was there! It was so nice and felt Iike we were invited to a private cub but without the vibe that comes with that sort of thing. There's an upstairs for cigar smoking that is jus such a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy before or after dinner and is just such a great mood setter. Hope the locals don't get mad at Gloria for telling you about this place but sorry gang this was a great find thanks to a dear friend that lives here. Oh and can't forget the nice relaxing live music that can range from jazz to blues. It's another great day in the neighborhood and Gloria is off to keep it genuine and may God bless your day and Eve. Gloria over and out

Yelp
We were on a UK boat Cruise, finishing up with 2 days in London. We came upon Boisdale accidentally. Stopped in for lunch. Requested pints and burgers, received sneers and snubs from the barman while he toadied to another party. He actually disparaging talked about us within ear shot to other patrons! We were finished our meal otherwise we would have walked out. The absolute worst treatment we received on our holiday!

Yelp
Sadly, was just ok. We were really looking forward to our first fancy dinner as newlyweds on our honeymoon and the gas was not working so my husband couldn't have the steak he wanted. They did let us know before hand but I noticed that another couple that got there right when we got there were given the regular menu. All in all it was a bad restaurant experience with the service almost being non-existent and the food just being ok. I would not recommend this place as London has some great restaurants.

Yelp
This place is a delicious Scottish place - a very old timey masculine, cigar smoking, kidney pie and haggis type place but the food is very well done and the place is in my opinion VERY classy. Live Jazz subtlely comes on as the night goes on, escalating in volume until it reaches a lively level as the last seating finishes their dinner.

Yelp
came here for a work's christmas lunch - although we were promised the christmas menu, there was some sort of misunderstanding and in the end we just ate off the a la carte. there wasn't much for me to consider on the menu, so i thought i'd go for steak, considering it is primarily a steak restaurant. i think my 10oz rib eye was £22.50. it didn't come with anything additional, and the waiter didn't prompt me for any extras, so i very almost just had a great big hunk of meat for my lunch (not my normal preference!), but in the end i ordered a side of carrots, and a side of broccoli. these were each priced at around £4-£5 which is, quite frankly, RIDICULOUS for vegetables! they were very tasty, but it was a small portion, and i was extremely glad that i was not paying for this meal. the same goes for the steak - i haven't went into a restaurant and ordered steak in many, many years, and whilst it was tasty, i'm glad i wasn't paying. service was slow and a bit shambolic, and i wasn't a great fan of the atmosphere either. this place definitely wasn't for me. 3 stars for the food alone, which was good, but far too pricey.

Yelp
Fantastically Scottish place. It is dressy. It's covered in plaid (or tartan for British English speakers). There are many rooms and many floors, and there's a lot of great whisky. I hear they have good haggis, and am very keen on trying it out. The live jazz band was completely solid.

Yelp
You would never know it from the outside, but this place is very cool inside. The restaurant looks awesome (though I've never dined there). Instead, I have been up to the terrace/cigar bar multiple times and had a great time. I recommend this place for dinner / cocktails!

Yelp
Expect a £12/pp entry charge after dinner hour, but worth the cost if you are looking for good music, great food, and a cozy atmosphere!

Yelp
An evening of great fun...but happenstance more than anything else. The food was ok,, the service nothing to write home about, but the band was fantastic and we had fabulous seats. Old fashioned cocktails and even some late night dancing. Definitely worthy of a return.

Yelp
Very nice place and great food. Finally I could eat haggis after more than 10 years! Definitely recommended for the atmosphere and the service.

Yelp
Bring back the blues! I was here for a Saturday night and was treated to some amazing food and great music. On show for the night was a bluesy band playing classics from Ray Charles to Eric Clapton - though the highlight was when the guitarist changed up for an electric fiddle and made it wail like Noel Gallagher's Les Paul awesome stuff! For food, I started with a ceviche of Salmon + chilli, amazingly well cooked scotch ribeye, with a truffle polenta and ended with warm apple crumble with custard and vanilla ice cream. If you're looking for a slick night out for great jazz, great food and throwback kilt wearing waiting staff, you need to get down to Boisdale.
