20 Best Restaurants in Bermuda, From Fish Sandwich Joints to Sushi and Steakhouses | Condé Nast Traveler

"Tucked down an alleyway next to a nine-story office building that’s been slowly rising on Front Street for the past two years (and probably won’t be completed for another two) Bolero, a traditional French brasserie, is easy to miss. But once you find the entrance and climb the stairs to the spacious second-floor dining room, with its oversized mirrors, brightly colored paintings, and vaulted ceilings with exposed wooden beams, your wandering notions will quickly be put to ease. This is where locals go to be wowed, and where Executive Chef Jonny Roberts dazzles them nightly with his take on Continental cuisine. There’s the shrimp pil pil, which comes bubbling in garlicky olive oil spiced with red chillies; crispy duck confit with celeriac remoulade and iberico ham; or rabbit pappardelle in a rich bacon, Dijon, and crème fraiche sauce. Do yourself a favor and wait to hear the specials—the chef’s star dishes are usually whatever he’s cooking that night." - David LaHuta

How to Plan the Perfect Trip to Bermuda

"I dined at Bolero Brasserie, helmed by chef/owner Jonny Roberts, and found the deceptively simple dishes surprisingly delicious; tucked behind an unassuming entrance down a narrow alley, the bistro is extremely popular with both tourists and locals and offers traditional and vegan tapas, specialty dishes, entrees, and dessert with outdoor dining available." - Skye Sherman Skye Sherman Skye Sherman is a travel writer based in West Palm Beach, Florida. What an amazing meal! Amazing food, classic French preparations with creative flavors and a view you can’t miss! The tiger shrimp and marrow appetizers stole the show. The lemon sole has an incredible broth and the soft shell crab special was cooked to perfection. Make this a mandatory stop when you’re in town.

Perfect fine dining experience from cocktails to dessert. Very glad to see a return to classic French bistro menu, with a few inspired twists. Great wine cellar, wonderful service and atmosphere.

Arguably the best French food in Bermuda. Nice atmosphere with a very friendly staff. Very good drinks and food. There's a few tables available on the outside terrace overlooking Front Street if the weather cooperates but the inside dining is equally as nice. Overall a very good experience and I'd recommend giving it a try.

A wonderful atmosphere and excellent service (our waitress was on point!) The setting is perfect for a romantic dinner with low lighting and intimate booths available. Heavy cutlery, linen napkins, etc. but not so formal that you'd feel out of place with smart jeans and no jacket. Bolero are going for a high end bistro vibe. So, to the food. We love French food and this is French influenced so we can forgive the odd missing accents on the menu (just get a marker pen to sort those out). The starters were very good. We had the steak tartare and chilli shrimp. Both delicious. Again, the cremè brûlée was on point. Everything was beautifully presented, however the mains let the show down. The quality of the ingredients was evident but everything was underseasoned - and with no on-table seasoning it should be. The filet steak didn't appear to be seasoned and, although cooked to perfection, the charred exterior tasted acrid. The beef hotpot again, should have burst with flavour, the mash potato though creamy and buttery was bland, and the peppercorm sauce appeared to have no flavour at all (not even pepper). Pop down to Bermuda Bistro for a peppercorn sauce that will knock your socks off. Overall, some of the food was a 5 and some a a plain average 3. For an expensive meal, it should have been top notch and if they can put more flavour into the dishes then Bolero will become a firm favourite.

Can I just say that we absolutely LOVED Bolero and Jay & Haley were absolutely amazing at what they do. They were running the whole place by themselves and took our party of 8 extremely last minute with a rush at the same time. Our service was absolutely out of this world and they made the very first day of our trip fantastic. Not only that, but the food was amazing. Totally unlike anything else on the island you can find for dinner so I really recommend coming at least once. This will now be a yearly stop for us and thank you again for giving us such an amazing night!

I wish we had a Bolero back here in the UK! Wow! The food here is absolutely incredible - sharing plates all packed with flavour. The passion of the team was infectious and they were so helpful guiding us through the menu. A definite must visit!

We arrived one half hour before the restaurant was open and the owner was gracious enough to put us on the outside deck with a bottle of water. We sat down at 5:30 and was greeted with our waiter Jeremiah, who told us the specials and took our food order. Our food was hot, delicious and the presentation fabulous. The service was also wonderful. I would highly recommend Bolero if you’re looking for great tasting food and wonderful service.
