Incredibly disappointing mochi donuts.
I pre-ordered a box of 6 donuts for $36 online and picked them up at their pop up location in Asahi Imports, a Japanese grocery store. I went during my workday and was surprised to see a long line of at least 40 something people inside the grocery store. The people bringing the donuts showed up about 30 minutes late as well. It was an ordeal to purchase, pick up, and I don't think they are worth the hefty price of $6 per donut.
As for the donuts themselves, I would not even classify them as mochi donuts. They are not made the same way and do not resemble a traditional Japanese donut if that is what you are looking for. They were incredibly dense, unlike previous ones I've tried that are genuinely light, airy, fluffy. The icing was way too thick for a mochi donut, and the shape was not even your traditional bubbly form, just a regular donut. I thought the flavors were also not appetizing. I got strawberry, honey, mint choco, americano, and sprite. The mint flavor was the worst thing I've ever eaten. I'm a big fan of mint Andes, mint chocolate chip ice cream, but this tasted like a very chemically mint toothpaste. I took a bite out of each donut and didn't particularly like any of them.
Would not recommend, I prefer Mochi Nut at a much more affordable cost.
