"This husband-and-wife-run Indian restaurant serves more than just the typical tikka masala. A recent weekday lunch buffet featured, among other things, chicken jalfrezi, a slightly sweet and spicy red bean rajma, and a cooling dessert of sev kheer (vermicelli noodles in a fragrant, sweet milk broth). The restaurant also caters heavily to vegans and vegetarians; try the malai kofta, dumplings of potato, cashews, paneer, and raisins that are deep-fried and served swimming in a creamy tomato sauce." - Matt Lardie

Google
Great location. Nice atmosphere. Great food. They have different levels of spicy or hot. Polite and respectful staff. I will recommend all.

I recently dined here and was blown away by the incredible food! The dishes were authentic and full of flavor. While the ambiance was nothing special, it had a genuine, no-frills charm that added to the overall experience. If you're a fan of authentic Indian cuisine, I definitely recommend this place if you re in Fayetteville.

Google
This was our first time here and it was great. The staff were all friendly and helpful, especially for those who are not familiar with the cuisine or spice levels. The food was very good, flavorful and the tikka and curry came in the traditional little bowl (I do not know what they are called but they were a really nice touch that we enjoyed). The decor is simple and pretty, bright and inviting. They also let it be known at the door that they are short staffed which I appreciated their honesty and despite that, the food still came out fast. Great place and we will be returning.

Google
very delicious and flavorful curry (i got butter chicken). samosas were delicious and the sauce was the best! i make the mistake of ordering extra spicy but it was still delicious nonetheless.

Jeff Hamilton

Google
A strip mall restaurant but it has very well flavored food. The Indian spices give a distinctive flavor not typical for normal American fair. Prices are very reasonable, not much more than burgers and fries at the drive through. Try it once and you’ll be back.

Google
Bombay Bistro was delicious! New to Indian food so ordered (mild) the Butter Chicken, Chicken Samosas, and Garlic Naan. I see why they have been in Fayetteville for years, the owner's wife does the cooking so you get good food, service, and the owner was friendly. 😋

Kenni B

Google
Food was amazing that Butter Chicken medium heat and the Tandoori naan bread, Chefs Kiss!! Atmosphere was rich with Indian culture, all that was missing was some music in the background. I can’t remember what dish my husband had but it was also very delicious !! Will return again!

Google
We made it to Bombay Bistro the other day and it was good. The restaurant was clean, had a welcoming vibe, and our server was great. Overall, we had a pleasant experience. Vegetable Sampler- 10/10 Lamb Curry- 7/10 (Flavor profile was on point but sauce was watery and skimpy on the protein) Chicken Tikka Masala- 7/10 (Forgot to add the spice we requested, sauce was too watery to our liking, and skimped on protein as well) Masala Chai (Not pictured) - 6/10

Yelp
Their food is pretty good. I didn't think is like Indian food til i tried it, no bad. The flavors were very rich and savoryz

Yelp
Waste of money. $19.44 for butter chicken. Very odd texture (like way too much dry seasoning) and unpleasant taste. Butter chicken, looks more orange than it actually is. It's more of a yellow color and had like rotisserie chicken in it. I've been too many Indian restaurants throughout the United States and this is by far the worst. It did not taste like butter chicken, don't even waste your time going here.

Monica M.

Yelp
The food was not very good. Frozen vegetables were used in the food, like you would buy in the grocery store. Naan was the worst! Minimal effort is used in the spices. Old plastic plates for food serving. Prices were high for the quality of food. I would never recommend this place! Mediocre in all ways. I've eaten Indian food all over the country to include India.

Kate L.

Yelp
Very good food and service. Seated quickly and excellent menu options. There was only one server but there was a sign on the door warning us it might be slow. But she did a great job. The owner is very friendly and chatty, even sitting down with locals to talk while they're eating. This place does a ton of take out also but the kitchen does a great job of keeping up with it. The bistro dinner for 2 is a fantastic deal. Plenty of veg options too.

Avinesh P.

Yelp
Owner is a crook. I ordered the samosa chaat and lamb vindaloo. I did not receive the lamb, instead they gave me chicken. It was so close to closing time so I voiced my grievance and ate the chicken. The owner said he will take care of the price as there was a big price difference between the lamb and chicken. He instead charged me more for the samosa chaat and left the lamb vindaloo price the same. I decided to just pay the bill and leave, never to eat here again. The food tasted great so its a shame the owner is shady. If you decide to go here please keep an eye on the prices and if you have more time then me, make sure you don't get overcharged.

Meeshers S.

Yelp
The food is absolutely delicious. I had the chicken curry, medium, which was delightfully and perfectly spicy for me. Delicious naan. Friendly owner. I can't wait to try the whole menu!

Yelp
Small corner location with limited parking. Interior was nice with a wall of awards. Went to order and the waitress had to check to make sure they could make the appetizer dish I ordered. When the appetizer came, we were given styrofoam bowls to eat from. Ordered a sweet lasso but was brought a mango lasso. Main dishes were well seasoned. Medium is true to spice level. Plenty to take home(styrofoam containers). They were short staffed I believe yet the gentleman running the cash register sat and gave orders. The one waitress was doing everything. The cleaning products were also sitting out visible from our table. Okay but nothing to brag about nor would I be anticipating a return visit.

Heidi C.

Yelp
They are currently not doing the lunch buffet but the food was amazing. Best I've had since I first tried Indian food in New York. Nice little restaurant with a friendly waitress. I drove an hour to eat here I will be back.

Ricky C.

Yelp
Order take out a couple days ago- no complaints- chicken masala was great and a bit more on the spicier side than I like but still very good. Garlic naan was perfect as well- must try for yourself

Sri M.

Yelp
Although the food was good. It was too spicy for a medium hot. The owner or the manager I am not sure whoever that old fellow is he is very rude to his employees and guests. He did not have a sense of courtesy to customers and employees. He was yelling at the waiter when we were there although the waiter was doing a great job serving her customers. I could give four stars but give three stars because of the good food and the good waiter. Otherwise, I would have given only one star for the rudeness of the owner/manager whoever he is.

Pheaba P.

Yelp
This is our go to place for Indian food when we don't feel like cooking dinner. We started out with samosas and pakora with mint chutney. The samosas were flavorful but it could have been better. The pakoras were perfect with the chutney. What I liked about the chutney was that it wasn't watered down and it had a subtle kick. Let's move on to the curries. My husband is currently obsessed with lamb vindaloo (the middle one) so we got that as our non vegetarian entree. The lamb meat was tender and the curry was creamy and the medium level of spicy is perfect. Considering all the lamb vindaloo I have tried from different restaurants, this is the best one! The channa masala (chickpea curry) was milder than expected and the chickpeas were slightly overcooked and mushy. The mutter paneer was green peas and paneer in a creamy tomato sauce. It tasted like the vegetarian version of butter chicken. I am always picky about paneer because the way that someone prepares it can either excel the dish or completely ruin it. Kelly Kishan, the chef, elevated the dish by focusing on the preparation of the paneer. Overall, we enjoyed our meal to the point that I looked pregnant walking out there The service was excellent and our waitress, Cassie, was attentive and made sure all of our questions were answered

Mark A.

Yelp
So glad they are still open through the pandemic. As a long time customer, this is one of my fave places to go. The owners are wonderful people, the food remains top quality, and dining there always brings a smile to my face. Unfortunately their buffet isn't there due to covid, which was great to try a variety of great stuff. This time I just went with the menu and chicken Korma plus garlic naan. As good as I would get in any large city world-wide. Even though there has been other fast food Indian spots that have opened, they just aren't as good as this hometown fave.

Kia J.

Yelp
I have been coming here for almost 15 years and I have never had a bad experience. The shrimp jalfriezie is my jam, but the lamb tikka is amazing.

John S.

Yelp
Food was pretty good, I think the spices could have been better to improve the taste. My korma was spicy but lacked taste as was my wife tikka masala. Service was good but they do not have a soda machine so could work out expensive if you have to keep buying bottles. Small place in a small strip mall but was clean and tidy. I would go again if I'm in Fayetteville looking for Indian.

Carrie G.

Yelp
One of the BEST restaurants in Fayetteville (possibly in all of NC!). And hands down the best Indian restaurant. Their food menu is extensive. I haven't had anything sub-par. My favorites are the kadai mushroom paneer and the chicken korma (it has pineapples so it's sweet and savory). The garlic naan is fluffy and light. The rice pilaf is tasty, even though they serve their dishes with plain rice and pickled veggie salad, it's a nice upgrade to get as well. The pilaf has green beans, corn, carrots, cashews, raisins and cinnamon and other herbs. They serve free pappadum (like a large cracker) with 2 chutneys. There's an extensive and unique beer menu. Imagine beer from Brazil/ India/ Russia/ Cyprus and other places! You know when you remember eating at a place years ago and you loved it, but are worried it might not be as good as you remember? This place is somehow even better. I lived in Fayetteville NC for a few years 6 years ago (pre-Yelp days for me) and it was one of my favorite places in Fayetteville. Flash forward 6 years, and I have a chance to take my parents there. They're from Ireland so they're a bit hesitant about trying diverse cuisines. And they don't eat spicy- at all! So, when the restaurant was able to accommodate them and they LOVED it, I know it's truly a winner for anyone. My mom is still raving about how much she loved it! The wall of awards and a 100 percent sanitation rating are the icing on the cake. The prices are very reasonable and to put a huge cherry on top, the owners (a husband and wife duo) are 2 of the nicest people you will ever meet! Definitely a feel-good mom and pop shop vibe with very friendly service. The guy is a lot of fun to talk and joke with.

Michelle P.

Yelp
Where do I begin?!? I am in love with everything about this place. For starters, when I first walked in the 100% sanitation grade stood out to me. We had a party of 3 adults and 4 children. We were seated promptly. The adults ordered a variety of dishes that we shared. The children enjoyed tandoori chicken legs. My 10yo said they were "phenomenal". The shrimp biryani and shrimp curry were delicious as well. We also ordered a side of the garlic naan which was light but flavorful. I also appreciate that they allow you to personalize your spice level. I went for the "child mild". The owners were very kind, interactive, and personable. They keep the restaurant spotless. Definitely recommend this place!

Bailey R.

Yelp
Being from New Jersey, I was very reluctant to try this small Indian restaurant on the side of the road. I am so glad I tried it. The service was fast and Personal and the food was some of the best food I've had since moving to NC. The mango lassies were definitely homemade and didn't taste like it was out of a jug. The veggie sampler and chicken tiki were out of this world.

Sarah S.

Yelp
This is my second favorite Indian restaurant in town. Tandoori Bites is my most favorite. But Bombay Bistro is great too. I like the smaller more intimate feel of the restaurant at Bombay. Tandoori is large and gets crowded very fast. Bombay is more low key and comfortable. The food is excellent too. I get the veggie samosa, garlic naan and cheese nan. The tiger prawns are delicious and I enjoy the tandoori chicken. Lots of good options.

John B.

Yelp
[Coronavirus review] Open for takeout and dine-in when I visited, but no one was dining in. Some odd customer service experiences were mentioned in other reviews, but all I did was hang out and wait for my order while the guy working in front took calls and delivered orders, making a point to emphasize how fresh everything was. It sure tasted fresh. I asked for them to bring up the spice level, and they delivered two entrees that were flaming hot from start to finish. My spice tolerance is not low, but having downed my okra and lentils with a chilli naan, I was beginning to look around for help. Fortunately, I had ordered a samosa chaat drowning in yogurt which cooled down some of the residual burn. The packaging of some items was a bit messy, but I was pleased to discover that my entrees came with not only rice but a small salad (not cucumber thankfully as the menu implied, but cabbage and peppers and carrots), as well as a couple of pakoras. Even through the burn, ample herbs and a complex flavor prevailed. The price to portion size was not bad either; my bill only crossed $50 with the tip I added (tipping for takeout is increasingly the norm in this new world), but I'll get at least three solid meals, with still some leftover, not to mention the vigorously flavored peanuts I snacked on for an entire day at work. As much as I hate to say it, I might ask for a medium spice level on at least one dish if I were ordering again, just to give myself a break. But I doubt I'll find more flavor in Fayetteville.

Elizabeth A.

Yelp
The food was really Good they had great service real nice and respectful people would definitely go back.

Katrina W.

Yelp
The food is wonderful. I really did appreciate the freshly made meals with such great favor. Everything was great.

Binusha N.

Yelp
HAIR. I was trying to enjoy my biriyani and there was hair on my food. I feel disgusted and Ofcourse couldn't eat. Even though I didn't liked broccoli and cauliflower in biriyani i was enjoying the shrimp. PLUS YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE THE HAIR BLENDED IN THE BIRIYANI.

Kat G.

Yelp
To be candid, I am posting this review quite a few weeks after eating here, but I can honestly say that my experience was memorable and I would definitely recommend Bombay Bistro to anyone in the Fayetteville area. I don't remember the name of the lamb dish I ordered, but it was DELICIOUS! I also ordered the Garlic Naan, raita, green chutney, and a mango lassi (which is always necessary if you order your Indian food super spicy). The only complaint I have is that the garlic naan was seasoned with garlic powder instead of fresh garlic. Overall, my dinner was worth every penny. I'm just sad I can't go back anytime soon because I live in Florida.

Faith B.

Yelp
delicious food at a fair price and the employees are super friendly!! definitely recommend

Ben G.

Yelp
So good! You can tell that everything is made fresh, in-house. We got the bistro-for-2 meal and all three dishes were great. The garlic naan bread was some of the best naan I've had in a long time. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a great food experience. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area.

Jessica F.

Yelp
By far one of the best restaurants in Fayetteville. This has been my husbands and my go to spot for years. The owners are so nice and it has such a mom and pop feel. We always get the bistro for 2 and it's such a bang for your buck. My favorite is the Aloo Gobi! Their tandoor naan is also amazing and never burnt.

Christina W.

Yelp
Not the fanciest interior but the food is amazing and reasonably priced. Portions are large. You will be taking home leftovers and getting your money's worth. I suggest getting an entree to split. Would recommend.

Kari M.

Yelp
Excellent food, good selection of beer. Tandoori chicken and Naan were outstanding. Our entrees were all good and you can choose spice level for each dish. Only four stars because tables were uncomfortably close to one another and could be spaced out a little more.

Patrick F.

Yelp
Wonderful, authentic, and friendly. Definitely worth the trip. The owner was great. He takes such pride in his craft. I will definitely be back.

Nick L.

Yelp
Fantastic time at Bombay Bistro with friends. Our server, Josh, was very attentive and knowledgeable. It was an honor to meet the owner, Kumar, and his lovely wife. The food was flavorful and authentic. An overall great experience. Looking forward to the next visit.

Anna P.

Yelp
This place is sooo good! The flavor is amazing! I don't have anything bad to say about their food. The mango lassi is really good too! This place is definitely one of Fayetteville's hidden gems!

Phil T.

Yelp
Exactly what I'm craving today. The Indian food here is amazing! Do you like delicious food? Go here.

Christian Y.

Yelp
This place is actually the best restaurant in town, they don't have a lot of traditional Indian sides due to how uncultured the city is. I've been all over the country and this is a wonderful Indian restaurant. Best Malai Kofta

Nancy T.

Yelp
My favorite Indian food in Fayetteville or anywhere. The lunch buffet is small but quality. Order off the menu and you can hardly go wrong. The biryani is large and medium spice is perfect. The owners make sure you are pleased.

Natalie M.

Yelp
*** I foolishly was handing him my hand card... I already paid online through grub hub. I was just frantically trying to get my food and leave and handing him my credit card was my way of trying to end the interaction ASAP lollllll

Jenita M.

Yelp
I hate to compare both Indian restaurants in town. I won't rate too harshly because the chicken jalfrezi was green instead of red in comparison. bThe taste was no where as good but oh well. I'm still opened to trying an unfamiliar dish next time. The staff and owner were both helpful in choosing dishes. The owner does come around to see if you like the food. The atmosphere was little dull with low music and without a television to entertain my brain. I'm amazed at how the dishes stay warm the whole time you're eating. Best pakora in town!

Kruti P.

Yelp
Some of the best Indian restaurant food I've had and that's coming from an Indian person! and Food tastes fresh and flavorful. The naan is soft and so so good! Try the garlic naan you will not be disappointed. Nothing is oily like many other Indian restaurants make their food. The owners are also very kind. You truly feel like you're dining at a family friends place.

Laura A.

Yelp
I am fairly new to Fayetteville so I've been trying local places to find the gems of the town. Bombay Bistro is a great place to go to for authentic Indian food. The atmosphere feels like you're eating right at home. Although my dish didn't come out quite like I was used to I appreciate that it was fresh, hot, and spicy. I ordered the Chicken Korma but wasn't expecting it to have cashews, raisins and pineapples in it. Also, beware of the spice levels it's definitely best to ask before choosing. Overall I had a great experience!

Bobbie D.

Yelp
I'm honestly shocked at all the glowing reviews, but this is Fayetteville, after all. The chicken tikka masala was good--but my fiancé ordered curry chicken and it was as bland as could be. Plus, I was disappointed that they didn't serve mango lassi that night. I guess it was too much of an effort to make? Not to mention, they fail to provide the various chutney sauces that are traditionally served at Indian restaurants. They had the mint cilantro chutney, but didn't have the tamarind chutney or the red pickled onions. I've NEVER seen an Indian spot that didn't serve these. When I asked the owner(nice enough man), he stated they don't make it bc the people don't eat it. I think most of those folks just don't know what good Indian cuisine is, so they resort to providing the bare minimum. I think if they served those condiments, people would try it and love it. But they get by on minimal effort around here and clearly it works for them. I guess if I want quality Indian food, I'll have to go to Raleigh or even Charlotte.‍

Terrence S.

Yelp
Hands down, the best Indian restaurant in the metro. Staff is friendly and attentive. The menu is varied and has many totally vegetarian offerings. The food is always delicious and consistent. Be sure to try the sweetened yogurt desert (unfortunately only offered on weekends).

So M.

Yelp
My goodness! I this place. Best Indian food in town! I can't go without this Indian food. I stop in weekly. My fav curry !

Jordan C.

Yelp
I'll start with this: This is not a restaurant for "connoisseurs" that traveled worldwide and proclaimed expertise in Indian culinary. India has several regions and many interpretations of a dish. It's understandable if your first taste of a dish is your standard, but that doesn't mean that's it's the only way of making it. Flavor comes from experience and heart, not a cookbook. Bombay Bistro is as home cooked as it gets. What this place is: This is one of those beautifully hidden mom and pop kinda restaurants. Kumar runs the front of the house, while Chef Kelly rules the kitchen. They are very approachable. Open a conversation with them. This restaurant is their passion. What to get: Beginners to Indian flavors should start with the Samosas. They are hand made and definitely worth every bite. Chicken Tikka Masala or Butter chicken, mild spices in a tomato base packed with flavor, should be your intro entree. One is white meat, and the other is dark. The sauce is the highlight of the meal. Order a tandoor naan with garlic, or if you prefer some heat, bullet naan. Use it to sop up the sauce. Don't be afraid to ditch the utensils. It's more authentic that way. If you're not the type that likes your protein in gravy, then try the Tandoori Chicken. This will ease your palette out of your allegiance to greasy fried versions of the drumstick. These are cooked skinless, but in a high heat tandoor oven, meaning the outer layer will have a light crisp bite, and the inside will be moist but well done.

Annalisa W.

Yelp
Fayetteville is probably the last place on Earth I'd expect to have Indian food. Well, I did, and it was fabulous! I've been away from the city for about 13 years and in that time this wonderful establishment opened up. I took my best friend who had never had Indian food. Seeing as it's one of my favorite foods, and being a chef, she thought I'd be a good guide for her first foray into this cuisine. We went for lunch so it was strictly buffet. One side was vegetarian and the other meat. Great selections one both sides. Living in Orlando, where we have a large Indian community and lots of great options, I was thoroughly impressed. Even my friend couldn't help but comment how she couldn't believe she'd never experienced it prior. A definite must if you're looking for something unique and not the usual chain restaurants you find in Fayetteville.

Alvarocre ..

Yelp
Im not an expert in Indian food but i saw the Yelp reviews and yes, is a solid 4 stars. Food is good, but the restaurant itself is so different. You just felt in a different world. Service was great, very helpful. The owner, a charming indian guy that makes you feel special. Is a place to go back to try new foods. The dahi vada was so good, new flavors for me.

Ian S.

Yelp
Price: $78 for three adults and no alcohol Service: confused Food: disappointing, apart from the Samosa Chaat. Chicken Tikka Masala was a let down, chicken korma had a bunch of canned pineapple and was super sweet, and the lamb tikka special was dry and had about six bite-sized pieces of meat. This portion size was pretty standard across the table. Naan was thin and crisp. Also, paneer paratha is not paneer naan. PASS ON THIS ONE, GUYS.

Meghan S.

Yelp
This is hands down the best Indian food in fayetteville. I've tried two other places and this one blows them out of the water. The service has always been great as well. I've mostly tried vegetarian items off the menu and have loved paneer dishes, dals, as well as veggie korma. Always excited to try something new here!

Shannon F.

Yelp
Food was wonderful and the owners were a riot. Enjoyed the banter we got to have them. The Chicken Korma was just the right blend of sweet. The Chicken Biryiani was delicious, I got mild and should of gotten medium. A great place, great food and a good price.

Clare L.

Yelp
Yummy food! It's very flavorful and theres a lot of dishes to choose from. My fav is the garlic naan and biryani! Also the chicken tikka dinner, butter chicken, lamb curry, saag veggies, homemade paneer Makhni!! Sooooooo yummm. The owner said they are going to change the menu in Jan 2020 I hope some dishes are gonna stay!!
