24 Outstanding Picks for South Asian Cuisine in Austin

"The sampler dinners (vegetarian and meat) are the best ways to try the best of what the pan-Indian South Lamar restaurant has to offer, including samosas, rice, and more. Takeout and delivery orders can be placed online; there are indoor dine-in services." - Nadia Chaudhury

Had an absolutely wonderful time at Bombay Bistro with a good friend. Would be an excellent place for a date as well. Great atmosphere with really cool light fixtures, and the food was AMAZING! We got the Sampler (they have veg and regular) which came with appetizers that we ate too quickly to take a photo of. Amazing tikka masala and lamb curry—grilled salmon was also insanely good. Ended the meal with delicious ice cream. The service was really great, with attentive and informative servers. This was our first time going and my only regret is that it took me so long to discover this place! You definitely get your money’s worth with that sampler platter, too.

Love this place. The flavor and quality of the food is amazing. Ordered the variety bread basket and couldn’t quit eating it. Then came the coconut curry veggies and the other person ordered the lamb. I would suggest giving this place a try. It will make your taste buds come alive. Thank you Bombay Bistro for provoking such a flavor filled dinning experience.

An unexpected delight! Walking in, the restaurant was rather barren and I had concerns about the lack of customers. However, as soon as I was brought my Saag with lamb I was beyond satisfied. The flavors were perfect and the lamb was tender. Can't beat quality food and great service, definitely coming here again :)

The space is good, with a lot of seatings, the service was good as well, but the food quality was just ok. Expected more as Indian cuisines are usually serving very tasty food. Not the best Indian place I've ever been.

Really amazing food. The chef special paneer appetizer is a must have. For entree we tried the bharwan aloo which we moved. They were perfectly cooked, the stuffing was delicious and presentation amazing. One plate has 3 big pieces along with lot of curry and comes with rice. Perfect for agreeing with one or two people. The place has a full bar and great ambience.

Menu is stacked with tons of options and everything we ordered was pretty good to very good. The naan is especially delicious, don't pass on it. Service was pretty slow and forgetful, especially considering we were there late and only 4-5 tables were occupied.

We are from Houston, we have a lot of Indian / Pakistani restaurants here that we have tried. It was a very nice surprise to finally find a restaurant in Austin that was almost on par with the multitude here in Houston. We came in for brunch on a Sunday. Service was good. Sweet Lassi was on the tart side. Food was good! Lesser selection than what we are used to. We will return with more family when we are in Austin.

Came in for dinner on a Tuesday night around 6pm. The place was empty but took them almost 30 mins to get me a chicken tikka masala. I knew they forgot my order when the waitress started yelling whats up with the chicken masala on table #4 (in spanish) and the kitchen yelled back they have no chicken tikka masala in line.... guys, THE PLACE WAS EMPTY. 2 stars since the food was decent. Will never return.
