Indian chain Bombay Wraps is opening in Lakeview and wants to open more restaurants in Chicago, Evanston, Schaumburg, and Naperville - Eater Chicago

"Bombay Wraps, the fast-casual Indian chain with locations in the Loop and Streeterville, should open a third location next week. The owners used data from a variety of delivery partners — including GrubHub — which showed that Lakeview is supposedly full of customers who order a lot of Indian food. With that mind, the owners of Bombay Wraps plan on opening a new location next week at 3149 1/2 N. Broadway Street. If a Thursday inspection goes well, it could open on Monday. For the first month, ownership will focus on evenings but will eventually add afternoon lunch hours. They opened their first restaurant on Wells Street eight years ago and have tweaked the menu since. The service is meant to emulate the quick, fresh meals the husband-and-wife team of Bombay Wraps managing partner Ali Dewjee and CFO Falguni Dewjee would buy from Mumbai street vendors. They’ve employed the assembly line formula where customers can see their paratha wraps, rice bowls, and salads prepared in front of them. That helps demystify Indian food for those not familiar with the flavors." - Ashok Selvam

Google
Bombay Wraps is honestly a gem. I’ve tried so many Indian places in Chicago and trust me this one stands out big time. First thing that hit me when I walked in was how CLEAN it is. Like seriously the cleanest Indian spot I’ve seen here. Floors, counters, tables everything looked perfect and fresh. You can tell they actually care about hygiene which is rare and honestly makes such a big difference. I ordered the samosa wrap and the messy samosa and wow… both were absolutely amazing. The flavors were spot on – reminded me of street food back home but in a neat, modern way. Everything tasted fresh and packed with flavor, not greasy at all. It’s the kind of food that fills you up but doesn’t make you feel heavy. I wanted to try the chicken too but it’s not halal which is the only thing I wish they had because then it would be perfect. But even without it the vegetarian options are so good you won’t feel like you’re missing anything. If you’re in Chicago and craving real Indian flavors this is a must-try spot. No joke. Quick service, super clean, tasty food – honestly I felt wow after eating here. Definitely coming back again.

Google
The flavor is too good. Only thing we asked for chicken tikka and rice with no lettuce but pickled onions, cilantro chutney and cucumbers. But they added too much lettuce and no pickled onion. I would recommend this place but make sure you get what you ordered. See the pic.

Google
Super delicious, and very filling! We got the Chicken Reshmi, and Cheese Paneer bowls with a messy Samosa side. The cheese Paneer sauce is pretty spicy. They also have these homemade refresher’s which were really good! Paired very well with the heat.

Google
We stopped here during lake view arts fest simply because they had empty tables, but the food was so good! I had three potato cauliflower wrap, and others had chicken tikka wraps and bowls. I might be dreaming about that wrap for a while.

Google
Never misses! We absolutely love their vegetarian wraps! The sweet potato fries are amazing and stay crispy! We have picked up in person and ordered online - 10/10 every time!

Piper M

Google
Just tried this place and had the Cheese Paneer wrap. It was so so so so good, especially with the cilantro aïoli and basmati rice. The Khatta Sour w Black Berry lassi is probably the greatest drink I have ever tasted. Will be a FREQUENT customer here

Google
Amazing service, I had a lot of questions and the girl behind the counter was super patient with me as I ordered. Not only was the service great but it was a great quick meal but not just like fast food it was genuinely good and flavourful. Would recommend it to others and will be back soon!

Google
We had high hopes when we visited Bombay Eats after a long and tiring day, craving something comforting and authentically Indian. Unfortunately, the food was bland, tasteless, and completely lacked flavor — it didn’t feel like Indian food at all. I noticed a mention of Bhagwan Das Maja Firki, which made me think the owner might be from Surat, Gujarat — a city that’s world-famous for its vibrant and flavorful cuisine (“Surat nu Jaman”). That made the experience even more disappointing. To the owner: I understand that your business has survived in a competitive place like Chicago, and that’s no small thing. But honestly, this was one of the most flavorless meals I’ve ever had. Our entire group was left frustrated and unsatisfied, wondering why we even came here. Food should leave you smiling — especially when you’re craving a taste of home. Sadly, this missed the mark entirely.

Yelp
Omg the samosas are so good! Very yummy fried exterior with balanced and enjoyable flavors in the filling. The rice bowls are also very filling. I got a surprise bag from here and received a combo(?) rice bowl of chicken reshmi and chicken tikka. Portions are generous with both meat and rice. Only complaint is the the chicken itself is on the saltier side, so make sure to drink lots of water. The employees are very nice and efficient. Inside is pretty small, but there is outdoor seating. Seems like more of a takeout place than a dine-in place, but you could do either.

Yelp
We've ordered from here 4-5 times and the food is delicious and the flavors are very authentic Indian. We've had the beef samosas, beef, lamb and chickpea wraps. The samosas were good but tiny, so not worth the money IMO. All the wraps are delicious, especially the lamb one. It came without rice the first time and blew our minds, but unfortunately every other time we have ordered it without rice and it still ends up with rice :/ As an Indian I have one gripe, which is that you have to pay for the green chutney ($.50 for a tiny container), which to me is like ordering burgers and/or fries and having to pay for ketchup.
google avatar

Amber D.

Yelp
My friend and I decided to go here since this is right by her place and she kept saying how good it was. Decided to try the paneer bowl along with some samosas. I like that the bowl gives you a hearty salad on the side with every bowl. Rice also comes with the dish you choose. We took it back to her place since she's close by and this place gives me more of a pick up and go or sit and eat and then head out kind of place. The food was delicious and very filling! The bowls typically run about $12.99 and I definitely think that is a good price for all that you're getting. I definitely plan to try their food again next time I'm in town,

Yelp
Great place to get takeout for lunch! Loved the chicken tikka wrap from here & the mango lassi was good as well.
google avatar

Anya B.

Yelp
Tasty, affordable Indian fast casual. I had the chickpea wrap and messy samosa but probably could've just gotten the wrap and still been full. I don't know of anywhere else where I can get one dish for ~$6 and be full like here! And the flavors were solid, too. Will definitely eat here again.

Paul W.

Yelp
This is my favorite go to, when I'm working in the neighborhood. Very fast, fresh and deliciously homemade. Dal and rice very flavorful. Paratha wraps are the best! Any flavor. I've heard the samosas are tasty, but haven't ordered them yet. Also, creamy and sweet premade lassi to go
google avatar

Q C.

Yelp
Fast and delicious. Great value too. I tried the messy samosa. So much flavor packed in that side dish. The chicken tikka masala was very good too. Great for a quick and tasty meal.

Melissa B.

Yelp
Fresh and tasty chicken tikka! Quick good eats. I always get the bowl, but the wraps are "bomb" too!
google avatar

Steph B.

Yelp
Tasty and quick food. I ordered for delivery and received my order really quickly. The food was super flavorful and cooked well. I ordered a lamb wrap, paneer wrap (spicy), and yogurt marinated chicken bowl and roll. All were super tasty and I would order again. I only gave 4 stars because I also ordered the samosas which has a buy one get one deal. But the order only came with one order (3mini samosas).

Lindsey M.

Yelp
So yummy! The paratha was sooo great! The service was quick and friendly. Truly no complaints!
google avatar

June F.

Yelp
Came in for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Had chicken Tikka over salad and it was a really decent portion and so low cost! The chicken was tasty and I had the hot sauce which had lots of flavor. My friend ordered the sweat potatoe fries with chick peas on top ( forgot what the chick peas were called). Place was clean and the service was excellent!
google avatar

J B.

Yelp
This is a great option when you're craving Indian food but don't want to pay for a huge portion. I told the cashier it was my first time and she threw in a few samosas and sauces for me to try - they were crispy, fluffy, and perfect. I also ordered a chicken tikka wrap with rice and onions. It was absolutely delicious. I will be returning soon!
google avatar

Trisha K.

Yelp
I work across the street and the staff always remember me and my order. Ask how the shop is doing. The food is inexpensive and awesome. I could eat it everyday!

Adrian B.

Yelp
I was walking through the area craving some Indian food. Saw this place on Yelp. Decided to give it a go. Not worth it. The food was not fresh. The portions are tiny, it's a joke for Indian food. And they had loud club music playing why? Not worth it! Go to a real Indian restaurant sit and eat well. This place is more for people who want a quick and easy meal with no flavor or taste.
google avatar

Courtney C.

Yelp
This place is awesome! Fast casual food with a variety of flavors, proteins, and toppings. There's truly something for everyone here! I've gotten the flaky paratha wraps every time and loved those, but i enjoy that there's a salad or bowl option. Their soup is very good as well!! Service is good as well. The interior seems clean! Will return
google avatar

Yelp
Best lamb curry wrap and the hot spicy sauce together is amazing, everyone needs to try it.
google avatar

Yelp
Yummm!! I wish it hadn't taken me so long to come here. The best description I can give for Bombay Wraps is "fun." They have come up with such exciting new ways to enjoy Indian food, including build your own bowls, wraps, and sandwiches. I've now tried the paneer tikka wrap, chicken tikka wrap, chicken reshmi rice bowl, samosas, and a mango lassi and everything is so good! The chicken reshmi bowl with spicy cilantro chutney has been my favorite - the meat is so tender and I love choosing which sauces and veggies to add. One note: the wraps are small! One is a snack, definitely need two or more for a meal.
google avatar

Harshit B.

Yelp
Probably one of the best Indian fast food restaurants in chicago!! Strongly recommend all the wraps as they are my fav
google avatar

Fernilla S.

Yelp
Not so authentic. Small portions. Mango lassi was more yogurt than mango. Didnt like the daal and rice too. I did like my samosas and tamarind chutney.
google avatar

Dee S.

Yelp
Ordered some wraps for take out and they were excellent! All of them were great - chicken tikka, samosa, channa, and paneer. We ate them so fast, I didn't even get a picture. Definitely hitting this place up again!
google avatar

Elisabeth C.

Yelp
This is my go-to weeknight dinner if I remember to order before they close. I always get the chicken tikka wrap with spicy chutney and a side of samosas with some extra sweet chutney. These hold up really well as leftovers so sometimes I order enough for two dinners since I know I'll forget to order in time the next night. I love the combination of flavors and the level of spice. The chicken is also always perfectly cooked, never dry.

Yelp
My first 5 star review and I am happy to give it to Bombay wraps! To start off I will give a shorter version its Mexican food meets Indian food in a good way! Its also a fast casual place. Wraps equals Tacos Samosas equals Empanadas The service was friendly, engaging, very helpful and overall just plain amazing! The menu was relatively easy to pick from but it takes time to select because you have to read everything . I would like pictures, I am a visual type of person and think it makes picking your order easier and faster! The restaurant was very clean and you can tell it is very taken care of. Yes it appears like a new restaurant but the workers were actively taking care of it while I was there. The food has so much flavor all my taste buds were going crazy! I ordered the Chicken and Lamb wrap. They load the wraps with so much you will get full off one. Being from out if town I had to try both. When I checked in a coupon for some free Samosas with sauce came up on Yelp so I had to try the samosas. These things were so good with the sweet sauce! I also got and tried the cilantro but like the sweet better. This was so interesting just because its not really a desert but man were they so good! I thought it was really cool the workers took the water out for customers but put it back in the fridge after it was used. This made the water refreshing! The last thing to add was they had a rating system to rate your experience. I like this because I was able to instantly give my feedback and it was quick and easy. More restaurants need this! I hope they start branching out and I can try again!

Yelp
Hot daaang this meal was a pleasant surprise! Stopped in here on a whim and ordered the lamb curry in a paratha wrap. It cost just over $6 with tax and was ten times better than lamb curry dishes I've had at upscale Indian restaurants. This is iNsAnE iN tHe MeMbRaNe!!!! The wow effect came from a mixture of quality ingredients: pulled lamb in curry sauce, pickled onions, chutney, lettuce and cabbage... all coexisting perfectly in a flaky paratha shell. Bless bless bless bless bless. I thought about the aftertaste for what felt like an eternity. But maybe that was because there was legit butter all over my mouth and hands. Hm. The store experience was pretty quick and to the point- I placed my order at the counter, the wrap & samosas were in a to-go bag in under a minute, and I paid and was out the door in a jiffy. Took that bad boy right to the lakefront and truly basked in its glory. I think this is an ideal lunch option since you're able to get smaller portions. But would come here every meal now if I could. See you soon, BomBAE :')

Yelp
I tried their Chicken Reshmi over a bed of basmati rice with cherry tomatoes, cucumber, shredded lettuce, cabbage, pickled onions and cilantro mint chutney. For it tastes plain. It is perfect for someone who is on a diet. I don't like the taste of chicken since it was tasteless for me. But it was soft to bite. Lamb Curry over a bed of basmati rice, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, shredded lettuce, cabbage, pickled onions and cilantro chutney. Compared to the first food, this food was delicious. It was tasty because of the Lamb curry. If I mix all of it with rice it's like fried rice. I like it. If you are a vegetarian you can try their Cheese Paneer served over a bed of fresh cut salad that has cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, chickpeas and pickled onions. It has a lot of veggies where I'm sure you will like it.
google avatar

Allen M.

Yelp
Gotten the food from here plenty of times and we always love it. My personal favorite is the Chicken Reshmi Roll
google avatar

Ernie H.

Yelp
This place smells fresh and clean. Zamir, our server, was friendly. Their mango lassi is thick and good, not overly sweet. The chicken tikka rice bowl with basmati rice was fine and the chicken was lean. We also had the lamb salad with some chick peas and that was quite refreshing. You almost don't need the dressing it comes with. The roti is excellent! In addition most items are all under $10 what's not to like? And there's outdoor seating always a plus!
google avatar

Pawel L.

Yelp
Fast Fresh Spicy Indian Simple Food. Bowls Wraps Salads. Small Clean Place Very Nice Service. Perfect Spot for Quick Healthy Food. Definitely I will be back. P.S. Try Mango Lassi!!!...mnnniam!!!:D
google avatar

Yelp
This hole in the wall is a welcome neighbor in Lakeview. It's unassuming, seats maybe 15, but damn do these flavors pop. I went in because 1. I'm into Indian food and 2. Because they sent me a coupon for free samosas, and I ain't no fool. I ordered my chickpea Chana wrap, and almost thought that they were joking when they said my total was $3.99. I inhaled this rich, creamy, flavorful wrap and loved every bite. And then I licked each and every one of my fingers.
google avatar

Dan M.

Yelp
I enjoyed Bombay Wraps! I got the Chicken tikka masala with the white rice. With the cucumbers, tomatoes, and pickled onions on the side. It was definitely tasty and the price was right! Perfect portion; not too big and not too small. If you like Indian food you will enjoy this!
google avatar

Gabrielle H.

Yelp
Thus place was super fast and yummy! A great place to stop for a light bite! My husband liked the food so much that he went back for a second wrap!
google avatar

Lynn M.

Yelp
This place is great for a quick bite to eat. I got the chicken tikka wrap and samosa. This was filled with flavor and a great light lunch. My husband got the beef wrap and he said that was great as well!
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
I love Bombay Wraps. I've been going for at least 6 years to one location or another but have pretty much exclusively going to the Broadway location in the past 2 years. They are consistent and the food is so approachable if you haven't tried Indian food before. This style of sort of street food is my absolute favorite thing to get for lunch. The service is always very fast and professional as well.
google avatar

Ritti O.

Yelp
Wow their wraps were amazing! If you're looking for quick Indian food this place is it. My husband got the chicken Reshmi wrap which he loved and I got a lamb wrap which was amazing, and the chicken tikka wrap which was okay.
google avatar

Emily K.

Yelp
Get the lamb curry wrap- it's amazing. The wrap is sort of a flaky paratha and it's very very tasty, sort of tastes like malawach. The flavors are amazing and it's great to get fast casual food that is so flavorful. The samosas are a fun side to get as well because they are mini sized and super tasty. The messy fries are also insanely good and pretty rich.

Faz D.

Yelp
Ordered a bowl. Sorry to say but the amount of food is not enough (compare to nearby restaurants) to satisfy one person.
google avatar

Ross H.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place! Stopped in the Lakeview location on a whim, and am so glad we did. First of all, the owner was so helpful and kind. He recommended we try the Chicken Tikka Masala Wrap and it was amazing! The prices are great - I'll definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Olivia C.

Yelp
I often find myself craving Indian food but don't want to have the full meal. This place is my go to for a quick fix without overindulging on the carbs. Their chicken tikka wrap is the rave - light, small, but has all the flavours of your typical entrée. I also liked all the different options you could choose from if chicken tikka isn't your thing. Great for lunch, dinner, or a quick snack!

Anne O.

Yelp
I can't comment on the wraps because I have to eat gluten-free, so I only tried their chicken tikka bowl. The food was fine, nothing remarkable, and I would not return simply because the amount of food was not worth the price ($12.49 for a scoop of rice, sprinkling of chicken, 3 squeezes of sauce out of a bottle, and a small portion of mixed greens and red onions). I want to support fast casual Indian food, but I would much rather go somewhere else and get a hot meal.
google avatar

Alana S.

Yelp
During COVID-19, this restaurant is CASH FREE. Bring your card. Soooo nice to have this little shop in the area. It's a quick bite to eat that isn't either sandwiches, sushi, or Thai food, and it lets you eat Indian food without having to order giant $20 entrees. You can try a nice-sized portion of multiple things $10-20! So far I have tried the chicken tikka wrap, the lamb curry wrap, and have tried both types of bread for them: paratha and roti. Both are equally delicious! The potato and cauliflower rice bowl was excellent; my vegetarian friend loved it and even I could see my meat-eating self ordering it in the future. The guys behind the counter are nice, they're fast, and overall just ensure you leave with a positive experience. Really appreciate that. Will definitely keep coming back
google avatar

Ray C.

Yelp
I'm so happy this place came to broadway. Already have been twice since it opened. The food is fresh and high quality, and it's a nice change of pace from your traditional quick/healthy meal like chipotle. They also have some sides that are unique and wouldn't find anywhere else. I've had the rice bowl chicken rashemi and tika masala. The green sauce they put on it comes mild or spicy, I got spicy and it was a great level of spice. I've also had the lentil soup, which was good, but honestly i don't think any lentil soup is as good as Zachi express down the street. Can't wait to try a wrap, and one of the smoothies. It's really small in this place, I probably will only have takeout here, but that's just fine. Also just a heads up, I'd be ready to order. If you walk in and don't know the menu, it could be a little overwhelming.
google avatar

Djelicka P.

Yelp
Everything is so delicious ! The sweet potato fries with wraps and samosa are so good. You won't be disappointed .

John D.

Yelp
Great costumer service. Quick and friendly. Food is yummy and fresh! Great for grab & go.
google avatar

William B.

Yelp
This is the kind of quick interesting lunch place I would have craved more of when I lived in the neighborhood, and it made it a fine stop on a recent errand stop. I liked the idea of the wraps, but they were small enough that I found I needed two for lunch. I'd describe the flavors as "pretty tasty" but not mind-blowing. But I do want to register my enthusiasm for the trend of fast-casual and fast-food Indian restaurants.
google avatar

Meghan N.

Yelp
My love for Bombay Wraps knows no bounds. Their food is just insanely delicious, fresh, and consistent. Portions are huge and it's so affordable. I haven't had one bad bite here! My favorites? Everything I've had. There's so much flavor! But if you're in doubt, go with the chicken tikka wrap or salad. Grab a side of samosas or sweet potato fries. I also love that they pack in the veggies. Everyone here is just so kind, helpful, and even fun. They have also donated a bunch of meals for healthcare workers! Bombay Wraps is my neighborhood favorite.
google avatar

Christina K.

Yelp
Love this place. Soto is the man & the food is on point! Highly recommend the lamb curry as the chicken tikka is not traditional - still good though
google avatar

Fiz H.

Yelp
Really happy that we stopped in today! ( was planning on checking it out for a few weeks now) Fast service! Great options and everything looked fresh! I got the lamb curry rice bowl and my husband got the paratha lamb wrap. Big portions of lamb on each, tasted ah-mazing! Spicy is just right, not too spicy. Will definitely be back:) The lamb will be a favorite for sure but I do want to try the vegetarian options!
google avatar

Neil R.

Yelp
Love love love Bombay wraps, eat here almost weekly! Food quality and flavor is always spot on and the speed/accuracy is impeccable. The flavors are awesome, the service is super quick and menu items are almost always available!
google avatar

DJ S.

Yelp
Great flavors and very affordable. The staff were both very friendly and polite. The food was very fresh and you could tell the chicken was grilled perfectly
google avatar

Aakash G.

Yelp
This is a great place to eat at if you physically show up there and eat things hot. I recall getting delivery once and was less than impressed with my cold and soggy wraps drenched in mint chutney. If you're eating in definitely try the samosa wrap and the chicken wraps. The staff is always friendly and this is a pretty good joint for the price!
