Bombay street food is a gem. The naan is perfectly soft and the veg Kolhapuri is rich, flavorful, and has the right amount of spice. The customer service is top notch, friendly, attentive, and very accommodating. Highly recommended for a comforting and delicious Indian meal.

Excellent food and amazing service! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! This place was highly recommended by my host who lives nearby. I had the chicken saag, with garlic naan, and a mango lassi. The chicken was so soft and juicy, the naan was crispy and tasty, and the mango lassi was sweet and creamy. Everything exceeded my expectations. The restaurant has great vibes and great music. Definitely a great place to bring company. Strongly recommend for people out of town or for dates.

Great experience overall. The Indian food was delicious, flavorful, and well prepared, with generous portions. The manager was very polite and attentive, making sure everything was perfect and checking in throughout the meal. The service and welcoming atmosphere really stood out. What a wonderful little gem of a place! We were staying in the area on vacation and trying out all the different restaurants and made it here for one of our lunches. When you walk in it’s so unassuming, low key, wonderful scents, and friendly. We initially didn’t have any expectations of the food, but when it was served, wow! Every bite was a burst of the most wonderful flavors. Every plate added more delight as we discovered more tastes. We had the palak chat, keema pav, and chicken tikka and were so full we couldn’t finish it all. We wish we had chosen to have dinner here to really get to try much more food! The server was so friendly. Next time in D.C. this will be one of our first stops!

I love this place -- I was getting dinner in between activities on a Friday night, and it was perfect. The saag paneer rules, and came out really fast. The portions are SO BIG! I'll have breakfast for tomorrow. Also, this isn't the restaurant's doing, but I had a lovely convo with other patrons. It was really just a nice, neighborhood evening! Great value for the price.

Cozy, clean restaurant in DC. Not usual for me to eat by myself but was in the middle of a business trip on a Saturday. Was in the mood for Indian. Order butter chicken and tandoori shrimp. Both were really well done. The shrimp had just enough spice to give kick a nice kick. Overall service and timeliness of the food was very quick. I was in and out within 45 mins which was perfect.

This place was soooo good! We went when it was warm and sat outside with our dog. The waiter offered our dog water which was so thoughtful! We ordered Goat biryani, which is one of their signature dishes. It's one of the best things I've ever eaten in my entire life! The only negative was that a small portion of the bread dough was undercooked. Despite this, I loved the presentation and the utility of a bread top on this dish! The bread was tasty and similar to naan. The butter chicken was flavorful and smooth. It paired perfectly with the basmati rice. I LOVED the dirty mango lassi cocktail - I loved it so much that I ordered a second one! It's refreshing and creamy, two things that don't often go together! The Taj Mahal was a huge beer which we were not expecting, but it was smooth and light. We will definitely be back!

Bombay is my go to for Indian food! They never disappoint and the food is consistently good. I love the variety the feast for two offers and I utterly enjoy it every time! The parking is rough! I recommend Bombay one hundred percent!!!

Stopped in on a snowy night in DC. This was one of the few places open, and the cozy interior and quick service couldn't have been better, especially considering the weather. We ordered the samosas, chicken tikki masala, and lamb rogan josh. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend, and we will be back!

I've ordered takeout but I want to come back to sit in person. This is a really satisfying Indian food place in DC. We had the chicken tikka masala and the lamb vindaloo. The lamb vindaloo was my favorite of the two dishes.

Overall a great Indian cuisine experience. My previous experience was a 3* takeout experience, however, dining in is where their quality and value is. The few times I've dined in the customer service has been very good and the food quality is delicious. This is perhaps one of the best dine-in Indian restaurant experiences I've had in the DMV. I've tried the goat curry, goat kadai, lamb vindaloo, butter chicken, chicken curry, tandoori chicken, and naan which are all delicious, authentic, and full flavor. Their vindaloo dishes are traditionally spicy in every sense of the word. This place is located in Barracks Row, so street parking is scarce. Also, the restaurant is small which often creates long lines out the door of people waiting for a table, so consider this on Friday and Saturday nights. When I arrived the restaurant was empty however third-party delivery orders seemed to be bustling. I perceived this as a good sign that perhaps the food here is good if locals are ordering delivery. The wait for my order was approximately 30 minutes after I completed my takeout order over the phone (again, I called when they opened at 11:30am). When I arrived the person who tended to me explained the order completion time I was given was due to the food being made-to-order, to which I felt good about. After all, we all want fresh food. The food was OK however I was a bit disappointed in the amount of oil pooled at the top of my Goat Curry. I've had plenty curry before (including the Bombay Street Food location at National Harbor) and this experience by far had the most oil in the curry. I literally had to remove the oil with a tablespoon. Short of that, the goat was delicious. I'll give them another try and eat in to see if the experience is 4*-worthy. Give them a try for yourself.

I'm so excited to learn that Bombay Street Food expanded to more restaurants around the city. Hands down, the best Indian food in the city. My sister was craving Indian food and I knew exactly where to take her. We did go when the weather was pretty bad so it was empty. We were grateful that it was opened that day. I'm pretty basic when it comes to ordering. I typically order butter chicken or chicken tikka masala. This time, I asked our server what he recommended and he said korma. I've never had it so I gladly ordered it. I'm so glad I did because I think I found my new favorite Indian dish. Korma had the perfect balance of sweet, spicy and everything in between. It was delicious! My sister ordered the chicken Bombay Biryani - it comes with naan - and she was really happy. Heck. We were both very happy and worth the trek through the snow and cold winds.

Had a very nice dinner here! Ordered the palak chat, chicken tikka masala, and garlic naan, which was all very tasty, but wanted a bit more garlic flavor for the naan. Service was quick and friendly and had a nice and comfortable atmosphere

We ordered take out from here tonight and it was unfortunately a miss in terms of the food. The butter chicken was way too sweet! It felt like they added a whole cup of sugar in it. The Chana masala, garlic naan and palak chat were just okay. All the food besides the curry was cold. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for authentic Indian food.

We came back and ordered: 5*Goat Curry: lots of food. Meat was cooked just right. 5*Goat biryani: portion was big, meat was tender, sauce was a bit spicy and delicious.

I've come here many times over the years, and the food has always been great. Last time we came, we got the palak chaat and the chicken biryani. The palak chat is basically fried spinach chips with tamarind chutney and tastes fantastic. The chicken biryani is super flavorful and and nice and spicy as well. The chicken is very tender and falls apart easily. The service is very good, and the restaurant is fairly quiet for the most part. I'm giving this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 because lamb is one of my favorite dishes, and I've ordered lamb dishes from here in the past (lamb biryani and lamb korma), but the lamb is always tough. I usually use lamb leg or shoulder to cook lamb dishes and it always comes out tender, but restaurants usually use tough cuts of meat and it's very difficult to eat and enjoy. Regardless, the other dishes here are excellent. And my understanding is that the meat is halal as well.

I went to Bombay Street Food 2 recently with my wife for a dinner night out. A dinner night out is a little different than date night. It's always tough trying to find parking on 8th street but we got a good spot on a side street. We started off with the Reggda Patties. I can't lie, I thought it was going to be similar to a beef patty but to my surprise it wasn't. This dish was awesome though. It had a lot of flavor and was on the sweeter side. Next we had the Bombay Biryani which was amazing. My only comment was that the dough on the outside of the bowl it was served on was not fully cooked. The dish itself was delicious. We order one more item after under the Indo Chinese section called the Chinese Manchurian. This was probably my favorite dish. This would be a good dish to ear with white rice. Overall enjoyed my experience.

LOVE Bombay Street Food 2. I was so happy when it came to the neighborhood. We order from here every few months. Being Indian, I typically don't like eating out for Indian food, but this place is exceptional! The service is always really friendly, and the quality doesn't diminish with takeout. My favorites are: - Butter chicken - Palak Chat - Bhel Puri - Gobi Manchurian The food is flavorful, fresh, and consistently good! It may seem expensive, but the leftovers last for a couple of meals. I think we can easily get 2-3 meals out of almost every order! It's been a while since I've eaten in vs. gotten takeout, but the atmosphere is really cool with great decor, always a lively group of patrons, and, as I said, really great service.

We dined in for dinner and had no issue getting a table for 2. The restaurant was clean and had some bright, uplifting decor. Since we were a little indecisive and felt like trying different things, we ordered the dinner for 2. It was a fun way to try a bunch of different entrees and appetizers. We liked being able to try the different curries that also had different proteins, though it confirmed my favorite or go-tos are still ranked at the top. My go to is korma and naan. From the apps, we did enjoy the mango chutney the most. I would recommend ordering this once, if you're adventurous and want to try something different. And if you do order this, get a bigger table than the table for 2...our food barely fit on the table.

good food, order tsandoori shrimp, chicken Tikka Masala and Shrimp Vindaloo and they were ALL on point... The Shrimp were HUGE in both the vindaloo and the tandoori. Nice portion size for teh price.

Ordered through Grubhub. Naan was overcooked, dry and hard, portion sizes of food was small, Butter chicken was not tasty

Visited Bombay street food a couple of times and tried their Bhel puri,Kheema Pav,Vada pav,vegetable biryani and saag paneer with naan. I would say the food tastes good but there is no consistency to the flavour. In my experience the vada pav tasted very different the two times I tried it,one time it was delicious and the other it tasted like a store brought frozen food heated before serving. Other than this I have no complaints about the food quantity,taste,pricing or service. Hoping for more consistency from BSF in the future.

I love this place. I have visited this restaurant numerous times to dine in or takeout and have always been more than pleased with their service and my entrees. I've had a variety of dishes on the menu and everything is always fresh and full of the flavor. The portion sizes are geniuses as well. I will definitely keep coming to this restaurant.

Alright...I figured since I've ordered from Bombay Street Food at least 5 times in the last two weeks...I should go ahead and bump this place up a star. I'm a sucker for good Indian food and Bombay still doesn't disappoint. Still good food, still a good atmosphere. I think it's gaining popularity because I've seen it pretty packed on the weekends, but I'm not surprised. Additional things I've learned that I like on the menu: - saag paneer (with medium spice) - shrimp Kadai (with medium spice) - Samosa - Channa masala I'm a little sad that they don't offer the saag paneer and channa masala as a side anymore, but not enough sad enough to lose a star. In closing, as I'm on my way to pick up another order , Always good customer service, always good food. Also - I like that my pup is welcome in the outdoor section which always makes my heart smile! Enjoy!

Honestly, Bombay street is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in DC. You will not be disappointed by the food. I was at Bombay street after church on Sunday. They had a decent lunch crowd, but not a wait (which is always a thumbs up for me). We had a group of three and was for sure wanting to get the platter to try a variety of their curries. Therefore, we decided to add an order of their spicy tandoori wings to share and it was the best decision we made. The wings were served on a scorching hot metal sizzler on a bed of onions and bell peppers. The meat was SO flavorful with a hint of smoky flavor from the metal plate. Also, for 7 wings, they charge $9, which is a pretty good deal in standards. Then, we received the platter soon after with our 2 extra orders of garlic naan. Man, all the curries were delicious, but the naan was not that good. It was cold and did not have that glutinous chew of naan bread I always look for. Also, we asked the waiter if we could switch out the normal naan for garlic naan (same price), but he was so adamant about it not being exchangeable. Other than that, everything was great, service was great, and we will definitely be going back.

Bombay Street Food 2, 8th street Washington DC is a location that has a peaceful ambiance, where you can enjoy a meal by yourself, take a date, or have a family meal. The food portions are large and there is always enough to take home. With that being said I came with a small group and we ordered different dishes and shared we had a feeling meal and was able to take some home. The staff was friendly and quick I couldn't think of what I want but was given recommendations. I had Butter Chicken, Lamb Rogen Josh, Lamb biryani I recommend trying the menu entirely you won't be disappointed.

I'm absolutely in love with this spot!! I'm usually a little cautious about Indian food in D.C. (I've generally found it to be overpriced and mediocre), but I was in the area with a few friends on Saturday evening and decided to pop by for dinner. I'm so glad that I decided to stop by despite all of my hesitations!! Starting off with the atmosphere -- Bombay is a bustling shop with wonderful energy, vibrant decor, and really friendly staff. It can get a little busy on the weekends, so definitely plan for that, but Bombay's service is still amazingly speedy (and near-perfect) despite the rush. And the food...wow. First of all, I was incredibly grateful for the number of clearly marked vegan options! Most Indian restaurants that I go to are great at accommodating vegetarian diners, but not vegans (or, at the very least, they don't make life super convenient by creating an entire vegan section of the menu in the way Bombay does). Their kolhapuri vegetable was listed as a "must try" and it did not disappoint in the slightest -- the dish was amazingly flavorful, with just the right amount of spice, a rich and deep flavor without feeling greasy or overwhelming, and a wonderful balance of textures from the various vegetables they added. There seemed to be corn, peas, carrots, green beans, and likely a few other goodies in the mix. It was served with fluffy and aromatic basmati rice on the side, and there was plenty of food to feed two (or, in my case, me for two meals :D ). My friends' dishes also seemed delightful -- one (fellow vegetarian) tried out the aloo manchurian and enjoyed it quite a bit, and my two other friends tried out their biryanis. One tried out the goat biryani and the other the lamb, and both said that their dishes brought quite the kick! There was a bit of dough covering the top of the biryani bowls, though, and it didn't look entirely cooked -- it was still a bit stretchy and wet, and it didn't have the classic charred look that most breads atop biryani do. Another minor detail is that I would've preferred there to be a scale for the spice level, whether it's an ability to adjust the level of spice you'd prefer or a scale on the menu to give diners a heads up. I was quite pleased with the spice level of my dish, and aloo manchurian was more of a sweet and salty dish, rather than a spicy one, but my two friends who ordered the biryanis did not quite have the spice tolerance to handle their dishes. These small details aside, though, Bombay Street Food was one of my favorite Indian restaurants in D.C. and I will definitely be coming back for more the next time I find myself on this side of town!

The absolute best Indian food you'll find in all of DMV. First time I tried this place was during 2020 and since then the staff are always so kind and bring the food hott and just perfect to eat with the garlic naan or white rice. The biryani also comes in a bread bowl which is absolutely magic.

I hadn't been to the establishment before, but I was planning dinner with a friend and thought this might be a good, casual, tasty choice. I found it disappointing. The vibe of the place is good. The service was very, very slow (it looked like they were understaffed). We shared the Raggda Patties as an appetizer, and that was pretty good. But my main course -- lamb biryani -- was one of the blandest entrees I've had in a long time. I might give it another try, to see if a different entree choice might be better. But I don't find it promising.

I've gotten delivery from BSF several times throughout the pandemic and it has always been a solid option. A few weeks before Christmas 2021, I ended up contracting COVID and lost my sense of taste and smell. I had originally planned on doing a fancy takeout meal but that went right out the window when I couldn't taste anything. I could, however, still taste spiciness so I looked for options of super spicy food for Christmas dinner and BSF was one of the places suggested. I picked a few spicy items off the menu as well as some other goodies - Garam Garam Pakora, Spicy Tandori Wings, Spicy Lamb Monsoon Wedding, assorted bread, and Ragda Patties. First off, let me say that if you have wings that are that BRIGHT red color, you know you're in for some spice lol. Both the wings and the lamb broke through my COVID taste barrier and burned my face off - EXACTLY what I was looking for LOL! Thankfully it was towards the end of my plague so I was able to get some of the flavors through, but the spice especially shined. Everything I had was delicious and the assorted bread basket was great for sopping up all the juices. This feast lasted me several days which was great so I didn't have to worry about cooking. The longer my leftovers sat, the more those spices marinated and I enjoyed every bit of it! If you are looking for some spicy Indian options, BSF has you covered - but they also have such a wide variety of all foods as well (shout out to their amazing biryani I've had several times before). Thanks for spicing up my Xmas :)

Horrible service literally watch the staff play games with somebody's order. Our food was not worth the money and wow the service I have to say it again just absolutely horrible

The ambience was lovely and the food extremely delicious and the service was lovely. (The food is spicy but you could ask the service to adjust to food to your spicy level)

Goat is a hard ingredient to find in dishes so it's always my go to when I see it on a menu. I ordered the goat curry and it did not disappoint. Paired with the mango lassi this meal was a real treat. Only downside is that they serve the lassi with a paper straw, which really falls apart for a drink so thick. But can't knock their stars for that!

Great food good service and friendly staff. Def recommend . Got the Thali plate and it was huge , so much so I had seconds the next day!! Awesome taste too !!

Bombay Street Food (BSF) was great. I'm on a restrictive diet at the moment and they were very accommodating and willing to double check with the back of the house to make sure I stayed within my restrictions. The food was very flavorful. I have a few pictures but there's an appetizer that we devoured before I remembered to take photos! Unfortunately I don't remember the name but it was a dish with vegetable patties and chic peas, and it had a nice little spice kick. The seating was nice. And the restaurant was full of brilliant colors. The mural across from our table kept catching my eye. I also enjoyed their use of mirrors. Overall, a great place to catch up with a friend or the beginning on a date night.

Great Indian food, loved the spicy gobhi Manchurian, okra, soft fluffy naan . Service was very courteous, it was a take out order and the only restaurant that was still taking order at 9 pm on a Saturday. They made sure to pack cutlery n plates like I requested .

Ordered take out vegetable biryani. Food was warm and tasty. raita was a bit on sweet side though Only suggestion : Try and use non plastic containers ( Use Eco Friendly )

The food is good! The service is also nice. The restaurant is a bit small. My friend mentioned that the bathroom is next to the kitchen. She once saw a open pot of rice placed near the bathroom and the floor. She was concerned about the food quality and safety.

Ridiculously delicious. Seriously, loved it. We got the butter chicken (basic, I know) but it was so good. It came with enough basmati rice to serve 2 people. (We got extra in case lol but didn't touch the second helping). Got 1 order of garlic naan and 1 order of plain. Split the meal amongst myself and my husband. It was delicious! We will 1000000% be coming back as well as ordering for takeout. Very fairly priced.

First time at Bombay and I give the restaurant a 5star. This was my first time trying Indian food and I must say it was amazingly delicious. I had the Bombay Biryani with the chicken. If you like spicy then this would be the place for you. The service was outstanding. The hosts were attentive and engaged with each and every customer. There was no wait as the customers were seated as they arrived. This local spot was clean and festive. The lighting was great and the wine I had was smooth and refreshing. It was Deloach Vineyard Cabernet just the right buzz for nice evening out.

I ordered from Bombay via DoorDash and it was delivered within 30 min! The butter chicken was SO tender. So delicious. The sauce was creamy and flavorful with a good bit of spice. I really really enjoyed the Butter Chicken and jasmine rice; both were still warm lost delivery. The garlic naan was flavorful but a bit dense and very cold. It seems as if the garlic naan was not made fresh. On the other hand, the Samosa was hot and crispy. Very creamy filling and a good mix of potatoes, carrots and peas. I really enjoyed all of the food and aside from the cold Garlic Naan, I have no complaints!

This review is solely for the food, as I did takeout... This was my FIRST time trying Indian food ever. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN MY ENTIRE LIFE?! I did a lot of research prior to ordering from here on how to eat the food, what to get, etc. So let's get into it... I ordered: 1. Samosas 10/10 - Delicious! Slightly spicy. Very good when dipped in the tamarind sauce 2. Palak Chat 10/10 - I loved the slightly sweet taste. Amazing! 3. Saag Paneer 10/10 - SO good! omg. 4. Butter Chicken 10/10 - Words cannot explain. The chicken was tender and the sauce had a sweet taste to it. 5. Shrimp Korma 10/10 - LOVED this! Tasted sweet. The only thing was that I had to tear the tails off and tear the shrimp in smaller pieces. 6. Garlic Naan 10/10 - Paired very well with all of the above! I dipped it in everything! 7. Onion Kulcha 9/10 - This was delicious as well! Dipped it in everything also. 8. Mango Lassi 9/10 - Delicious yogurt drink!! I will be back for sure! The staff may know my name by the end of 2023! lol

Shared the thali with my boyfriend and overall thought it wasn't bad, but I've definitely had better versions of the dishes included. I've had better naan elsewhere too. But it was fun to try and a lot of food. Probably could have fed three people with an extra order of rice. Our favorites were the goat curry and the lentils. Probably would just get those if I came back instead of getting the thali again. Also got samosas which were not good at all, lacking flavor and way too doughy. The herb/lemon water was nice. Be aware the restaurant had several mosquitoes flying around.

Update after a number of subsequent visits. Bhelpuri is good but would only order with a group as it is a big portion for 2 Palak chaat is delicious. Somehow stays great even for takeout Tandoor wings with raita are tasty Samosas are amazing Rogan josh is perfect Butter chicken is good Chicken manchurian is sort of like general tso meets sweet and sour sauce They can get busy and you might have to wait a little for your order fyi

We reached around 9:20ish and were hoping to be welcomed for dinner. We were greeted with a frown (like we will close in half an hour, good if you do a to-go or something). Persistent enough, we sat and ordered a quick dinner meal for two of us - Chicken Jalfreezi and some rotis. The preparation was good and had just enough flavor to qualify for the Indian palate. Decent place for a quick meal, but I won't call it my go-to place for Indian food. And hopefully, next time, they will greet us all with a big smile on their face.

My co-worker and I saw this place advertised on a light-up sign on the National Harbor and decided to give it a try. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Tikki Masala and my co-worker has the Butter Chicken. The dishes looked IDENTICAL -- they put a small garnish on top of the Butter Chicken dish to help identify the difference. The Tikki masala is not overly spicy (even though I was warned by the sever that it is very HOT), but it gradually gets HOT as you continue to consume each bite. I like the nan bread to compliment this dish than rice. The butter chicken was more on the mild side and SUPER sweet compare to the Tikki masala. The way the foods were cooked and served did not resemble "street food" -- I think the advertisement was super misleading. The restaurant itself felt like "fine dining" as their decor and cups felt high end. Servers were super attentive that it almost became bothersome. Great for spicy Indian flavors but I would not consider as "street-food."

We've been here twice now and both experiences have been great! We are always seated and served quickly, our waiters have always given insight to meals and answered any questions when asked. The food is immersed in flavor, every dish comes out better than the last. They have patio searing and indoor seating for larger parties. The platter for 2 is a great variety of dishes and is great for the price! We will definitely be back again and again!

The best afforable Indian food I can find in DC! I got the Chicken Korma, Gobi Manchurian (cauliflower), and Chicken Biryani for take-out. All were very flavorful and filling. My favorite was the Chicken Korma, and it came with rice. The cauliflower reminded me of general tso's chicken! We didn't receive naan wrapped with our biryani like the photos tho... We did get garlic naan at leas, and that was pretty solid. I may skip the biryani, but would get the other items again and try other things next time!

Best Indian Food in the DMV! I had the butter chicken and shrimp biryani, and naan. Absolutely delicious. The naan is soft and fresh. Portions are huge. I had some much leftover it was so good I couldn't wait to eat it the next day.

With "street food" literally in the name, I was hoping to find more than a couple on the menu, however, the food they did offer was surprisingly good. The restaurant itself seems to be an old one but the ambiance is nice, pleasant enough on the inside. The place was almost empty at noon on a Saturday when we arrived but they seemed to be in the middle of a brisk and busy take out / delivery service. I would go back but with no expectation of getting "street food". I also would.not get the tandoori chicken as mine was warmed over and dry. Stick with the stews and curries.
