"Opening this week on Capitol Hill, the second location will welcome lunch customers Friday, June 21 at 524 Eight Street SE in the Barracks Row building that housed Garrison. Owner Asad Sheikh says the menu will be “90 percent” the same as the Columbia Heights location, but it adds a “Bipartisan on the Hill” section with dishes available with lamb, chicken, or goat, an exclusive lal mirch spicy curry made with dried chiles, ginger, garlic, cilantro, and roasted red peppers (similar to vindaloo but with more ginger-garlic and roasted red pepper), a spicy biryani, and a new “monsoon wedding” curry studded with black peppercorns, red chiles, and coriander seeds. Sheikh and chef-partner Pradip Shrestha are introducing two weekend brunch dishes—anda bhurji (eggs scrambled with cumin, coriander, tomatoes, and onions) and anda keema bhurji (with minced chicken)—each served with a hard-boiled egg, Indian-spiced home fries, and a drink (the $12 price includes a choice of a bloody mary or a mimosa). The spot will also offer a $12 individual thali lunch special for congressional staffers, about 25% military discounts on select dishes such as butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, and goat curry, a kids menu (cheesy naan, chicken tenders, small portions of butter chicken), and a 75-seat layout that adds an outdoor patio and an open kitchen where people can talk to the chef, watch cooking, or try to cook naan; hours are listed for lunch and dinner daily." - Gabe Hiatt
