16 Best Indian Restaurants Around D.C. | Eater DC

"Mumbai was still known as Bombay when restaurateur Asad Sheikh was growing up in India. At the Columbia Heights original, along with locations on Capitol Hill and National Harbor, he shares the thriving street food vendor scene from his childhood through favorites like Bombay palak chaat (a mixture of crispy fried spinach with spiced yogurt and chutney), bhel puri (puffed rice mixed with a medley of raw onion, tomato, and chutney), and vada pao (spiced potatoes with ginger, garlic, and cilantro chutney served with a roll). Follow up these snacks with the Bombay thali for two: an assorted platter that includes curries, vegetables, bread, and rice. Sheikh also runs fast-casual chain Butter Chicken Company, which has locations downtown and on Capitol Hill." - Tierney Plumb

Where to Celebrate Diwali Around D.C. | Eater DC

"At Bombay Street Food’s National Harbor location (151 American Way), I learned the Bombay-born restaurateur Asad Sheikh is marking Diwali with free mango lassis for customers all week—just ask the server and say 'happy Diwali'—and that the restaurant specializes in sharable thali platters featuring an assortment of curries, vegetables, bread, and rice." - Tierney Plumb

Here Are the 2022 Eater Awards Winners for D.C. | Eater DC

"Bombay-born restaurateur Asad Sheikh unveiled a color-soaked, two-story Bombay Street Food at National Harbor as a love letter to the Indian street foods he grew up with, expanding on the Columbia Heights original and its Capitol Hill outpost. The ambitious expansion brings fan favorites like fiery vindaloo and cumin cocktails, plus seafood dishes such as lobster masala, to the recently resurged waterfront neighborhood." - Tierney Plumb

A Big and Beautiful Bombay Street Food Lands at National Harbor | Eater DC

"I see Bombay Street Food has expanded across state lines with a color-soaked location at 151 American Way in National Harbor, Md., opening Saturday, June 25 and operating daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Owner Asad Sheikh — who has two D.C. locales and grew up in what was then called Bombay — brings a taste of his childhood with dishes like biryani, fiery vindaloo, and vada pav (Mumbai’s take on a veggie burger). A seafood section leans into the waterfront location with sous vide lobster tail masala with spices and local vegetables, a “Boatman’s Fish” main of pan-seared rockfish with spicy curry, and fiery fish and chips of spicy tempura-battered cod with a Kashmiri chili sauce; executive chef and partner Arjun Ranabhat formerly worked at the Willard Intercontinental." - Tierney Plumb
