Bomfim 1896 with Pedro Lemos

"At the Quinta do Bomfim, an estate run by the Symington family since 1896 (hence the name of the restaurant), this project is a partnership with renowned chef Pedro Lemos. Situated on the banks of the River Douro, it boasts a classic and sophisticated ambience, plus a completely open dining room with a view of the kitchen, and superb vistas through the large picture windows. The fireplace and wood-fired oven take centre stage here, alongside cuisine that revisits the flavours of the Douro Valley’s time-honoured kitchens, albeit with a more contemporary vision." - Michelin Inspector

I think this was one of the best gastronomical experience this year. The restaurant is AMAZING! Great decoration, food and wine. Bring your significant other for a very romantic meal. Ever dish had beautiful presentation and waves of tastes exploding in my mouth. Can wait to comeback! You must make a reservation prior arrival. Take time to visit Pinhão before or after the restaurant.

A modern grand Quinta with a long history. Very spacious through out the location. Plenty parking with shade. The white port and red wine we tried are decent. The Oliver oil tastes fresh The terrace has a stunning view of the Douro River and the vineyard on the mountains.

Probably one of our most memorable dining experience in Portugal...majestic view of the Douro river and vineyards, impeccable service, creative and delicious food, knowledgeable staff...every detail was meticulously planned for a fine dining experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. After a long day of driving and not dressed for a nice evening out, the maitre d' still welcomed us and treated us very well. Our servers and sommelier were truly wonderful, professional, and know their craft! My vegetarian cauliflower dish was truly one of my favorite entrees ever, and the mascarpone ice cream is divine. They also make the best port tonics, too! (I was able to find Graham's White Port in the States, too.) The grounds of this winery are beautiful under a full moon. One of my favorite evenings I experienced in Portugal.

You will probably see a lot of photos of the food at this place, but the overall ambience of this dining establishment is quite an experience. Starting from. a picturesque train ride from Porto to a walk along the Douro River to a meal with an amazing view. The risotto I had was to die for. The Bonfim wine was a bit too much for me that I started dozing off. If only this restaurant had a bed for a post meal nap!

Restaurant looks Very Nice and the service was great. Food was good too. I absolutely loved my starter but my main was a bit dry for my taste. I got the wild boar and some parts were very soft but the majority was chewy and dry, I never had that meat before so I'm not sure if it's the meat, even though two smalls bits were very soft... The rest wasn't... Dessert was divine. My husband ordered shrimp for starters and even though it looks good, amazing presentation, I found a pain in the a.. to take the skin off a shrimp. His main was amazing. Meat was melting. Check our photos!!! I highly recommend the restaurant, just wouldn't recommend the wild boar.

This is the most overpriced and disappointing tasting menu with pairing that I have ever had. €200 was far too much to charge for good but not amazing food and a very miserly wine pairing. Most of the dishes were good but had no wow factor, whilst the catch of the day was a confused mix of fish and seafood, the steak was very average, and the millefeuille was slightly burnt and bitter. The wine pairing was tiny, really small glasses of around 50/75ml, all very good but tiny. The venue and service were great, and the views are what one pays for. But I have had many 1* Michelin experiences that have been a lot better for a lot less. This is not a 1* Michelin, and charging €200 for a Knife & Fork rated tasting menu is too much. I don’t think Pedro Lemos, who has his name attached to the restaurant, has anything to do with the kitchen.

Beautiful restaurant with views of the river and an elegant decor. We had the tartar, lamb and a kids menu. Tartar was very well done. The kids menu steak was very well cooked and tasty but was a bit of a tougher cut for a kid. The lamb was amazing, and we were quite happy to see that it was a normal plate for presentation followed by an extra plate with another 5 chops! Well served. The only complaint would be service. From the moment we got into the restaurant the staff were not as attentive as you would expect for a restaurant like this. The restaurant was not full. We tried to get the attention of our waitress to order and she used her hands to signal time out. What’s that about? When asked if we would like another drink at the end of the meal and I said no I had to drive, the waiter tried to push me to order a Port and said it would be fine. While it seemed to be a bit in jest, given the roads in Duoro, no staff should be even jokingly try to push more alcohol if a client says no thank you I’m driving.
