On the Grid : Bon Me

"A fresh Vietnamese noodle and sandwich shop that is prepared with gourmet ingredients and veggies, Bon Me never disappoints. Inspired by the street food movement, Bon Me trucks have taken over Boston, and this brick-and-mortar location combines the expediency of the trucks with comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. While there are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options here, don’t miss the chance to try the miso-glazed pulled pork sandwich—it’s definitely a winner." - Branding Iron @ Stantec

Best Restaurants Around the Boston Convention Center in the Seaport | Eater Boston

"A local counter service chain, Bon Me has a menu that is full of lunch options you won’t find at a sub shop, including noodle and rice bowls inspired by Vietnamese food and other Asian cuisines. Try the kimchi ramen or the restaurant’s namesake, the banh mi." - Tanya Edwards

The Back Bay Lunch Guide

"With a bunch of brick and mortar locations and more trucks than Ryder, Bon Me is a known entity at this point, but that doesn’t mean it’s still not one of the best lunch options in the neighborhood. The Stuart Street location of the fast-casual spot makes a really good sandwich with excellent French bread (and has a vegan option, too), but our favorite thing on the menu may actually be the miso kimchi ramen." - dan secatore

Bon Me - Review - Back Bay - Boston - The Infatuation

"This Vietnamese fast-casual spot started as a truck and is now all over Boston (in both truck and non-truck form). That’s not surprising, because their signature banh mi are reliably good with soft, light bread, and the selection of noodle dishes gets the job done when you’re not in the mood for a sandwich." - Dan Secatore

Google
Came here for the first time with a friend and I have nothing but great things to say! I ordered the Namesake, The Korean Style, Kimchi & deviled egg as well as the Thai basil lemonade. Everything was amazing and the staff was super friendly. This is a pretty cool place to go to to get some amazing Bahn Mi! I would highly recommend Bon Me if you’re looking for some good Vietnamese food!

Google
Banh Mi had uncooked smelly chicken and the texture of the bread was dry and sad. And they charged $12 for that. Not great if you're a hungry tired office worker and don't have any option but to nibble on the edible bits. Hopefully I won't get sick from it.

Google
Highly recommend the Thai basil limeade and especially the the tamarind tangle. Dined in for late lunch with a coworker, and our great experience (both food and customer service) were well worth coming back here for a review. Though seating options weren't overly abundant, there was no wait to order on the kiosks and we received our food quickly on a dreary Thursday at 1pm.

Kavya Sriram

Google
Banh mi was bland and flavorless. Too much tofu, no spice, and WAY overpriced for banh mi (13 dollars). Would not return nor recommend!

Google
The AC was FREEZING! Otherwise, this place was good. It is a fast casual situation with counter service. We enjoyed the pho and the Korean sandwich.

Google
I didn't have any expectations but the namesake banh mi was so good??? Great for my Amtrak ride.

Google
The ramen broth here has to be the worst we have tried in the greater Boston area. If you love ramen do not go here. It’s tasteless.

Google
Food was good (very over priced) BUT the guy yelling out the names needs to stop yelling. Its very irritating and completely unnecessary. No one wants to hear some guy yelling peoples names to get their order.

Yelp
This is the third Bon Me location I've tried in the Greater Boston area, and it's stayed consistent in quality, flavors, and price in all locations. I got the japchae noodles with a hard boiled egg and it was the perfect filling portion for dinner. Just like other locations, I placed my order on the screens and it was prepared promptly. This a great fast casual spot that packs orders well for takeout, but are two tables for dine-in as well.

Yelp
Bon Me is a quick service Asian fusion restaurant with some tasty noodle based dishes or sandwiches. I went with miso kimchi ramen which did not disappoint. Good flavor and the portion was excellent. Bon Me has some seating available but it is somewhat limited so wouldn't recommend more than four if you want to sit together. Better off as a pair or on your own. It's a basic layout but the food is the experience here. Enjoy!

Yelp
Was less than impressed with my bahn mi sandwich. I ordered the JP with a side of edamame to go, and although it was decently priced, the quality and flavor of my food weren't great. The toppings on my sandwich were lacking, and the texture of the tofu was too mushy. It was a little spicy, but still managed to be completely bland. The edamame was good, but that's a simpler dish. The restaurant looked clean inside and ordering on the tablet is convenient, but it's still a miss for me.

Yelp
Front of the house staff were friendly and efficient. Only 1 other dining indoors while most orders were to go, so I felt safe slurping my Miso Kimchi Ramen soup. There was a very generous portion of pulled pork and the tea egg was perfectly cooked. I didn't find the soup as spicy as the Ktown Throwdown. Overall, I find this location to be very consistent in its food but this time watching the staff work so hard and exhibit great service made this 5 star.

Yelp
This place is healthy and delish! This is definitely the way to go when ordering fast food! I got the JP banh mi and Vietnamese iced coffee. Compact and filled with flavor and pickled veggies, this was great to take out on the town. The coffee was pretty good, if you're looking for a sweet, creamy caffeinated treat. Would definitely visit again, even one of the food trucks!

Yelp
Bad flavorless food. Not even Asian food at all. Banh mi us awful and so are the bowls. For the price, it is 100% not worth it.

Yelp
Bon Me is a great lunch spot in the Back Bay. I like to keep it local and we were very excited when they brought their food truck fare to the brick and mortar location. Some of the ingredients change up a bit over time, but there are always items of a similar theme (always some type of chicken on the menu for example). I love the noodle salad and get it every time. I like the various spicy options that are available. The restaurant is on the Ritual app so you can order ahead to try to avoid the lines. The app also lets you add comments so you can customize things a bit. When in the city for work, I hit Bon Me roughly once a week and never tire of the choice. The couple of things that hold me back from a five star rating are occasional order accuracy issues and their limited drink options.

Yelp
+ Ali's Pho - Chicken pho with noodles, chinese salt and pepper, cabbage, bean sprouts, red onion, cilantro, scallions, crispy shallots, and a slice of lime. Tasty and decent portions. + Quick service. + Self order on a tablet option. - Lukewarm broth. - No tray provided when order served. - Limited dine-in seats.

Yelp
I used to work at this location, so I've been biased on the flavor for the longest. I just went back today & got the brown sugar milk tea & the namesake sandwich. Flavor on the sandwich was decent, I don't think much has changed. But the milk tea? YO. It was so bad. It was like they put some cream in some Lipton tea. I was craving Bon Me for years & I'm so sad, y'all

S S.

Yelp
$5 for a small milk tea. Probably the worst milk tea I ever had in my entire life. It's basically water but worse.

Yelp
They just ALWAYS get my order wrong. (I only go here when I pick up food from Viga) I have really given them multiple chances at this point. The people are nice but they definitely don't have enough staff for busy lunches. I get the food truck fav with deviled tea eggs. Half the ingredients were missing from the bowl (no shallots, scallions, or vinaigrette) and so was the tea eggs I ordered. I'll just go to the little cart in Copley. Rule of thumb here: ALWAYS double check your order.

Yelp
Update. I am baffled by this place. Came in at 2:30pm. I am the only one here. 4 people working here. Ordered a Pho and it took 15 minutes?! This takes about 3 minutes in the food truck with 1 or 2 workers. I am not willing to come back for an actual lunch hour even though I like the food. Like their food a lot, but disappointing at times. Today I was in a rush. Ordered online and came 15 minutes later. There was nobody in the store and worker was just hanging out. I asked for my online order and then he Started making it... defeats the point of pre-ordering..

Yelp
Count on a place called Bon Me to not have a legitimate Banh Mi! I don't think it's particularly bad, but I am bothered by the butchering of Vietnamese cuisine to make one of these new trendy lunch spots with healthy options. The food lacks character.

Genna L.

Yelp
The food was pleasant! I got the ktown throw down, which had marinated chicken, greens, scallions, etc. I added more sriracha for extra spiciness. The ordering system is fast and convenient--there are a few iPads that you can order through and see what each dish contains. There are also several employees there if you have questions. You can also order ahead for pickup, for those who are on a tight schedule. The portions are huuuuge, definitely enough to share or save as a second meal.

Yelp
I order often from this location as it's next to my office at least 2-3 times a week. However my experience has been less than satisfactory. In the times I've gotten food from this location, it's only ever been made correctly once. My order remains unchanged everytime: rice box, white rice, chashiu pork, miso lime dressing, spicy peanut dressing, no raw greens, add pickles-light , add jalapeños, extra scallions and crispy shallots....yet the people manage to find creative ways to f it up every time. No veggies? Here's a handful of raw leaves! Oh, this will be fun - let's give him 5 pieces of meat and a giant mountain of rice. Pickles? What're pickles? Let's give him the vinaigrette instead of dressings ordered. It's a new mess everytime!

Yelp
I tried this Bon Me location for the first time last week, and it was my first time trying Bon Me ever. I've been avoiding for the past few years because it seemed too healthy for me, and in my mind, too healthy means bland. Boy, was I WRONG. I ordered the white rice bowl with tofu, and it was absolutely delicious. The tofu was very flavorful, the white rice was cooked to perfection, and the greens created a nice crunchy contrast to the soft textures. This place is good enough to convert me into a vegetarian! (Just kidding, but it is that good)

Yelp
Getting worst every time I go in. This used to be my go to lunch spot, seriously two or more times a week. Guess I will be bringing my lunch more as the service, wait times, and accuracy have gone way down. I am disappointed, but I guess my wallet will be happier now.

Yelp
This place is all hype. Overpriced for food that's inedible. The japchae is extremely salty. The pho is bland. The only good thing was friendly service. I was looking forward to make this place my go-to lunch spot since it's near my office, but what a huge disappointment.
google avatar

Laura L.

Yelp
Ok, another place going down hill. I ordered rice with chicken, my staple! But the rice was dry and under cooked. There was no miso lime dressing anywhere and just a small amount of chicken. The flavors are still ok, but it is not the same as it was.

Rashelle B.

Yelp
This is a big disappointment! I was really expecting lots of flavor and heat to come from this bowl. Instead it's clumped up noodles with chopped up chicken sprinkled on top for decorations. While the oil and soy sauce layout at the bottom waiting for you to get to the very end to even know the noodles were supposed to have sauce on it. And then is that lettuce for veggies? I shouldn't have been thinking of ramen noodles while forcing a bite. Well, I guess I will need to try another bowl.

Yelp
Simple menu. Quick access to take out food. Food is decent. I like the flavors and size of the meal. That being said, it is limited as to selections. Seating is limited. Good value.

Yelp
Amazing food with a lot selections! The staff is great and cares about the customer! Sensitive to allergies and accommodate accordingly
google avatar

Nora B.

Yelp
Delicious and not too pricey (for downtown). I got the soba noodle tofu bowl - so delicious! It was a good combination of salad and noodles. The miso lime sauce was flavorful and not too spicy. I added jalapenos which were a good kick. The service was fast and it wasn't too crowded. I would definitely come back here for lunch.

Yelp
I guess I got what I was expecting. You walk in to be greeted by an iPad host/waiter. The human did acknowledge my presence and made sure to direct my attention back to the iPad screen for ordering to dine in. End of transaction. Ok.. efficiency, sure it went smoothly. The pork bahn mi was a large portion so luckily I was hungry, but the meat seemed cold and lackluster. The pickled veggies were tasty and not over whelming. Ordered the Chinese broccoli which came in a little single serve container (looked nothing like the photo on the iPad) . I made sure to thank the iPad at the end of the meal.

Shervin Z.

Yelp
While the food wasn't necessarily the most amazing thing in the world, what made the experience with it was Ayman's service. She was so nice and so kind it was truly a world class experience. Props to this company for training their employees so well. Will definitely be back!

Shane R.

Yelp
Gone down hill from where it was a few years ago. They've changed their menu and make it difficult to order on their iPads which don't provide a description of the item. Lots of better options nearby.

John W.

Yelp
Food is great. But....Would be nice for a food establishment like this to have restrooms. Is it even legal for a food establishment with seating to not have any???
