The Best Restaurants in Old Montreal - Eater Montreal

"Americana meets Montreal at this fresh new addition on St-Paul Street East, replacing the former Tiers Paysage. Bon Service’s menu conjures the American South while spotlighting local ingredients, resulting in dishes like cherrystone clams done casino style with aged cheddar and Old Bay seasoning, butterflied Cornish hen with gravy and grits, and beef tartare with heirloom tomatoes and a cherry bomb aioli. It’s also got a snappy offering of natural wines and cocktails, including a chocolate-mint julep and nutmeg gin fizz." - Eater Staff

Always fun nights and events. I did my birthday there because they have a private big table in the back and it was the perfect night. The food, to the drinks, to the music. It’s a place you can easily become a regular because there’s frequently new items on the menu and the staff makes you feel at home. Food is always excellent, cocktails also. I recommend it to everyone I know and they also always had good experiences. 10/10

Me and my sister were in the old port. We were looking for a new spot for drinks and we found this gem. The reason we went in was because we heard some good loud music. We went in and got seated at the bar area. The place looked nice, it seemed that they had a front and back part. I am not sure if we were in the back or front area but nonetheless is was good. Loved the music, the dj was playing alot of throwbacks and every song after that was good. The bartender that serves us was really nice. We each for a cocktail, the Colada and the Punch. They were both good. The punch tasted like those orange Popsicle. I loved that they took the time to make our cocktails with all fresh ingredients. And it was nice watching them make all these cocktails the time we were there. From the menu it seemed that they also serve food but I cannot comment on that since we only got drinks. I liked also that he gave us automatically some water even when we didn't ask for it. I would definitely suggest this place for a few drinks and a night out. I would maybe also want to try the food here one day. If you like good music and a cozy vibe this is the place. And it's perfect for small or big groups. Will definitely come back

Bon Service was sadly not bon. The place had a very cute aesthetic and museum like art center pieces. I went with my coworkers for a late night dinner but it seemed like the staff were ready to wrap up 3 hours before the restaurant closes. We were ready to order seperate items off the menu but the restaurant owner recommended some chef menu mix of items for the whole table. With high hopes, our waiter asked if we were ready for the bills after the first round was finished. The waiter wasn't informed that there's more food to come. Multiple waiters were asking if we wanted drinks, which was nice but after the 3rd no, it was clear they were pushing for a bigger bill. After the remaining food came, the waiter was quick for us to get the bills. We wanted clarifications of the bill but the owner thought we were unhappy. The owner was confused by our request for clarification and offered us shots. But we weren't feeling the vibe anymore and wanted to tell the owner thank you and goodnight before leaving. Instead, the bar tender didn't let us finish speaking and said sorry the bar is closed. Which, they still had 1h until closing... Food was alright. The pork belly and asparagus was a table round favourite. Really wanted this place to be a good experience but all my coworkers and I were confused to the whole dining experience as if "Bon Service" was a joke and having bad service was their artistic style of the restaurant.

I can’t begin to tell you how absolutely delicious the food, and immaculate the service was. Insane experience. 11/10 will be back.

One of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had. Everything was unique and delicious and the atmosphere was divine

Relative small resto with muted lighting which makes it feel intimate and a guitar encased in glass in the middle of the room (I am not clear and forgot to ask what the significance of the guitar was). The menu selection is very "tapas" in nature and all dishes were of a decent size for 2-3 people depending on how hunger you are. We were a relatively large group and ordered Pickles (tasty...as you'd expect), Olives (tasted like olives), Deviled Egg (good), Fish Dip (also good), Romaine Salad (very tasty), Braised Cabbage (a good compliment to the meat dishes), Lamb (excellent) and Duck (also excellent). Overall the food was quite good and of value. The ambiance is pleasant and the music (at least in the early evening) was not too loud so our group could all talk amongst ourselves. Service was very good and attentive with the food coming quickly and steadily. Enjoy!

Just wow. We were looking for a place to eat off the strip just to be rejected by restaurants claiming they were full. So we came here and I have no regrets. I could tell it was a slow night so we sat wherever we wanted , we sat by the window. It was different and fun for us. Our server was absolutely great. She had us try the wines they ordered by glass which never I got that chance by any other restaurant! And she did warn us the entrees were smaller but filling and good. Whatever, we took the chance. The food just wow'd us. We ordered the sea bass and pork. Yes we were as full as if they were full entrees and it was incredibly delicious. I would definitely recommend. I would actually want to order the entrees again because it's so good. Thank you Bon Service! You treated us well! Beatrice, thank you!!!

Had a pretty mixed experience here. I’ll start by saying the the food was delicious, truly (but they should put bread or something on the table because the service was not quick). Service started 10/10 but slowly got less and less attentive. Our table was full of empty plates that needed clearing (which were eventually cleared). Although our server was SUPER nice, she did spill gravy all over the sleeve of my white sweater (obviously not intentionally), and then proceed to ignor me for the rest of the night. Look, I know it wasn’t her fault, but she could have brought me some napkins, water, or anything to try and clean it up. Anyway, overall if you’re looking for a decent spot to go with friends the food was seriously delicious, just don’t wear white.
