We recently used Bon Soir to cater a birthday party. Jeff and his team went above and beyond what I expected. The food was so delicious and the service was excellent. Jeff was extremely helpful with planning the menu as well. I highly recommend Bon Soir and will definitely use them again in the future.

Last week I threw a cocktail and dinner Party for over 150 Guests and knew that the catering was one thing I had to have be the very Best (and also to not have to worry about). The compliments from guests were effusive, people Loved the food and the service was fantastic-a calm and professional staff. Jeff is so easy to work with as he is a Pro and yes, he does help your budget with great suggestions as other reviewers have said, I learned so much from him. The food was absolutely delicious, the set up seamless and so easy in a venue with no kitchen. Thank you so much Bon Soir and Jeff, hope to do it again!

The servers did a great job making sure all my guests needs had been met. I opted for passed appetizers which were delicious, plentiful and different. A friend commented they wanted to have a party and have exactly the same menu, can’t think of a better compliment. We had a great experience and it was a pleasure to do business with Bon Soir Caterers at the Hudson River Yacht Club. Looking forward to my next celebration and joining up with Jeff again.

Jeff and his staffs were amazing! They went above and beyond made sure everything was perfect for our wedding. They also helped with venue selection, rentals, alcohol and floorpan and made our wedding planning so much easier . The food was beyond delicious and the presentation was wonderful. Bon Soir Catering deserves even more than a 5 star rating. Jeff went above and beyond to cater to our every need, concern and was there for us through the whole process of planning my my daughter and son-in-law's wedding. His experience and professionalism always comes through. When Jeff tells you "don't worry", you can absolutely not worry because he always knows best. The wedding was at the Picnic House in Prospect Park and the staff knew the venue and transformed it into a beautiful venue exactly how we imagined it. Alfonso was great from the minute we got there. He was calm and efficient in helping to set up for the ceremony, the decorating, the fireplace, the centerpieces and candles just how we pictured them and it was all perfect. He helped organize the ceremony and timed everything perfectly. During the cocktail hour, the food stations and the passed food just kept on coming and was all interesting and delicious. My guests were already raving. For the reception we chose the buffet which was generous and delicious. Many of my guests were saying, "There's more food??" The waiters were great, the bartenders great, everything went without a hitch, even the clean up was seamless, not to mention all the food we took home!! I highly recommended Bon Soir Catering and Jeff to cater your event. My guests were so impressed with everything, I am still getting calls. Most importantly, I am so thankful for all their help, advise and patience in the planning of this wedding. Bon Soir and Jeff, you are truly appreciated. Bon Soir caterers provides delicious quality food and excellent service. I've been using them for more than 20 years - for big corporate events as well as smaller family ones. I've used them twice this past year. The diverse menu options would please anyone and everyone. Manager JEFF RILEY will always return your call in a timely manner. They do it all: Appetizers, entrees, desserts and professional wait staff if needed!!

We had our wedding at the Prospect Park Boathouse. After the previous exclusive caterer went MIA, many of the couples, who were left stranded including ourselves, were invited to a tasting with Jeff and the team. We were blown away by the presentation and taste of the food. After careful considerations, we decided to go with Bon Soir and we are very glad we did! Yoriko knew the Boathouse like the back of her hands. She was one of the main reasons that we went with Bon Soir. She was calm and collected the whole night and moved things along, working with my Day-of Coordinator. The staff member were so courteous and sweet, making sure we had everything we need and we looked our best on the day. Right before I walked down the aisle, one of the servers notice my hanger string from the dress is out and helped me fix it! It meant a lot to me because I can now spot that in some of the photos I took before the ceremony and I am so thankful he noticed it and corrected it! The food was absolutely amazing. I have friends raving about crab cakes and chateaubriand for days. Everything was executed perfectly and timely to our plans and we can't thank Bon Soir enough for our beautiful wedding.

EXCELLENT!!! I am so grateful to Jeff and Bon Soir Caterers, and so glad I found them (Deborah Miller Caterers backed out 10 days before my event, after months of planning). We had a Gluten Free lunch for 40 people (30 adults and 10 kids) in Manhattan. Jeff made me feel confident that there would be no worries with GF, and a family member who has Celiac was able to enjoy everything. The salmon was like butter, the veggie cous cous and mixed salad were amazing, the eggplant was also delicious, and I did not even taste the latkes, as people went for seconds right away and raved about them. My friends and family were so impressed. Everything was seasoned beautifully and lightly, not with tons of salt. We had plenty of food for people to take home. I highly recommend Bon Soir. Thank you again Jeff!

Bon Soir catered a small 20 person birthday party for us. Couldn't be happier either food. We picked up the food, which was ready as promised. Their kitchen loaded the car for us. The hot food, braised short ribs, and chicken Fran chaise was fresh, delicious and plenty full. The salad was also just as fresh. Food for 20 could feed 40. Everyone took food home. Bon Soir will cater the holidays for me this year now. Thank you to the full staff and owner. They care and it shows.

We hired Bon Soir To cater Baby Shower party at our house. Everything was perfect from the start. Timely arrival, excellent presentation, delicious food, professional service! Will definitely use them again for next event.

We cater our thanksgiving meal at Bon Soir this year and very disappointed with the food. The turkey was not fully cook, we see blood near the thigh area. All the side dishes were either over cooked or not cooked enough. All the good doesn't taste very good. Also they are overpriced for the kind of food they offered. Won't order from them again.

I have to start this review by saying that Bon Soir was THE BEST choice my husband and I could have ever made for our Wedding. We got married in April this year at the Prospect Park Picnic House and of all the catering options they offer, Bon Soir is by far the one to go with. Jeff from Bon Soir has been in the wedding industry for many years and he knows what he's doing. When you talk to him, he will put your mind at ease and be very straight forward, explaining details of how things work and also taking away all the "shenanigans" from the process. We started communicating with him via email and then scheduled our in-person meeting. The meeting was great and he made my husband and I feel confident that they were the ones we wanted for our wedding. We booked our tasting and the food was beyond delicious. We were so excited with the food and he surprised us even more giving us a good portion of the generous tasting leftovers for us to take home. We loved every bite of those leftovers. As the day approached, he made sure we had all the details were sorted out and he was super quick and responsive when we had a hard time finding a Beer vendor for our wedding. I messaged him asking for advice and he immediately jumped in and gave us a great alternative. Not only he found our vendor, but he did all the due diligence to make sure everything would be fine on the wedding day, meeting with the vendor in person and making sure they were aligned before the big day. Needless to say that our wedding day went smoothly, he set up everything the way we had envisioned and the food was FABULOUS!! Everything was on point, and our guests were thrilled with the wonderful selection. From appetizers to main course, to the bartenders and waiters, everything was perfect. Him and his staff work like and great orchestra knowing exactly what to do. And I can't understate how amazing the food was. To this day, I still have guests telling me how much they enjoyed the food. Rocco and I couldn't be happier with our decision. If you're looking for a caterer for your wedding, Bon Soir is the right choice. They made our dream and vision become a reality by their professionalism, reliability, quality service and excellent food.

Jeff and his team catered our wedding at the Prospect Park Picnic House. Everything about our experience deserved this 5-star rating. Bon Soir is professional, top to bottom. They had an option for everything we hoped to have at the wedding, and if it wasn't on the menu, he made it happen or showed us how to make it happen. I'm not sure anyone can come close to beating Jeff's prices, and there are no hidden "gotchas." The entire process was transparent and straight forward. I saw one review citing Jeff's "blase" nature about his business. I would agree that communication wasn't always instant or quick, but it was if I expressed urgency. Jeff assured me all of the pieces would fall into place, and they did. Any time I had questions, he had answers. Any time we got worked up or stressed, he had a solution. On the day of we didn't have a care in the world about the event. We had an amazing maitre d and my wife and I could enjoy the event and great food Jeff's team served up. Hot tip, use a planner or coordinator for day of - saw the same review cite getting approached by the staff. Gotta have a coordinator for that exact reason. Thanks Jeff!

We used Bon Soir at our Picnic House wedding (in Prospect Park) this past August. Jeff and his team have years of experience in catering, and it shows! Jeff helped us pick out our menu and the food was deeeelicious! His day-of team was incredibly helpful and was there to help us with anything we needed. Also, Bon Soir is very affordable considering the area and quality of the food!!! Thanks for making our day great!

We had a March 2013 wedding. Bon Soir Caterers was one of the first vendors we picked for our wedding. They did not disappoint. We had a meeting with Jeff early in August and he recommended The Picnic House in Prosect Park, after we had described to him the look we were looking for for the wedding. It was an AMAZING choice and the location was a few block from where we were to live. The guests LOVED it and it was EXACTLY what we were looking for. (We wanted windows all around and for it to be near the church) I had been praying for snow since my engagement and four inches of snow fell the night before into that morning. It was gorgeous and a dream come true. The reception hall looked awesome. Jeff the head of Bon Soir was extremely considerate and consistent in getting back to us, more so then all the vendors we were in contact with through out the entire wedding process. Even though we had a tiny budget and a small wedding, he treated us with great kindness and gave us his direct attention whenever we had questions. We weren't exactly a big client, but he treated us like we were. :') THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS! Jeff was always very confident about his chefs/cooks. He often boasted (genuinely and not in an overly proud way) about the quality and flexibility of their cooking. We definitely knew why after tasting the food. Everyone kept telling us how good the food was and many got up for seconds. We thoroughly enjoyed it and ate up during the wedding! We had an ice cream bar from Bon Soir too, which was excellently executed and had various cute toppings. Our guest/ families all had their own cultural food backgrounds and still all loved the food from the menu. We had buffet style and the guest were all treated very well by the staff, and the line moved neatly and quickly. I had been to weddings where people stood for long periods of time waiting to get their plated filled. The staff members were attentive, quick to help out and very friendly! We had never seen such a kind and helpful staff. We were VERY VERY impressed and touched by how sincere they were. Overall Bon Soir TOTALLY delivered. They are now our preferred catering company for all future events. From corresponding with Jeff to the food and service, they played a significant role in making our wedding planning and wedding day run smoothly and beautifully. We chose them to cater our wedding at the Prospect Park Picnic House this past October over any of the other preferred caterers because of their excellent communication, glowing reviews and renowned expertise. And we wouldn't have had it any other way. From their professionalism, experience, attention to detail and warm hospitality, Jeff helped make our wedding day one of the best days of our lives. My husband is a chef and I am a caterer so we know how much hard work goes into putting together an event like this and food is incredibly important to us. Jeff's passion, humor and expertise left us feeling confident we wouldn't have to worry about a thing, and it was true. He is a gem! Their adherence to safety protocols helped make us feel very safe. Even when there were some hiccups like things not showing up on time, we had absolutely no idea because Jeff took care of everything. They really went above and beyond. My new husband and I had to make a ton of choices for our wedding at The Foundry in Long Island City... choosing a caterer was proving to be a challenge until we met Jeff and thanks to fellow yelpers, we found him through Yelp! From my first phone call with Jeff to the very last goodbye hug at the end of our perfect wedding, every encounter with Jeff was great. Our first tasting (no charge, as some others do) -- was great, he had everything we had previously discussed freshly cooked for us, and even more food that we didn't pick. Everything was delish and the presentation was unexpected - wowed us a bit. We met a couple of times to go finalize the menu and the seating. Jeff was no stranger at our venue and had great recommendations on how to arrange the tables and seating, with complete confidence he had a vision in his mind and showed us on his nifty program on his computer. Even if he hasn't done a venue, the guy knows what he is talking about. The excellent service of the waiters, chefs, and bartenders...the delicious food and gorgeous presentation were all we heard about all night among the compliments. A very important concern of mine besides the normal ones, were allergies -- I had two very allergic family members. From the beginning, I made this clear to Jeff. I gave him the table they were at and listed each allergy... it may sound insignificant to some, but we have had some horror stories at previous weddings with allergic reactions that ended the night at the hospital because some caterers do not understand the importance. Jeff was allover it, he even saved my aunt from eating an appetizer she would have had a reaction too (clearly she wasn't paying attention! -- but our caterer was, and then some). Our Menu: Arcadian Spring Salad Mix Chateaubriand Chicken Florentine Lemon Salmon We had quite a few restaurateurs among our guests who said the quality of the fish and meat were a step above what they used in their OWN restaurants and they were impressed. That was great to hear. Jeff is very open to discuss budgets and will always find the right fit for you and your party. I was told by our furniture rental company that Jeff was the best in the business, and on May 6, 2012 -- I saw it for myself. Jeff AND team -- thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!

Jeff and his team at Bon Soir are the only caterers we use. They have done our birthday parties, our showers and our wedding. They are simply the best. They walk you through the menu step-by-step and really make you feel so comfortable in what can be a stressful process. We are particular fans of their BBQ menu. After sampling their food, we actually had an all BBQ wedding menu. Bon Soir may have a French name, but they cook like they are from the deep south. There is love in the food. The pull pork sliders haunt my dreams, they are so delectable. My friend, who has his own catering business, came to me after one event to get Bon Soir's card. He said "that is the best pulled pork sandwich I have ever had." And this is coming from a guy who cooks for a living. They also do an amazing traditional American catering menu and work well with any budget you might have. We went to a wedding they did on what I know was a shoestring budget and the spread was still impressive. Their creamy pesto pasta is one of my wife's favorite pasta dishes ever. Whatever the event and whatever the location, I strongly recommend trying Bon Soir... your tummy will thank you.

I was so happy to have found Bon Soir caterers to cater our wedding. Jeff Riley, the owner, helped us throughout the process and he was able to come within budget while providing a menu that was diverse and included many fresh seasonal ingredients. Jeff and his team have been catering events for a long time, which, trust me on this one, is one of the most important factors when considering a caterer for any large event. The food was fantastic (our guests still rave about the grilled mahi, coconut shrimp, and amazing gourmet mac 'n cheese!) and the servers were total pros. They helped us set up our centerpieces and took care of details we hadn't even thought about. We were able to enjoy our wedding and have zero concerns other than have fun with our family and friends. Overall, a great experience. Highly recommended!

This review is for a corporate event that my company had catered by Bon Soir cateres, specifically "The Smokin Grill". Wow. who does not like barbecue smoked americana.... noone, when it's this good! These guys rule! Ribs! Awesome! Brisket! tender, juicy, flavorfull....awesome! Sides interesting, nutritious fresh salads and artfully prepared and presented sides. And the pit guys endlessly explained the barbecue smoking pit and process to countless curious guests, many of whom were from Germany and had no clue what all this was about. All in all, a memorable party with delicious food where the purveyors went the extra mile to make everyone feel welcome, warm and involved.

Words cannot express how wonderful Jeff and the whole Bon Soir team are on every level. Not only did Jeff help us figure out the best menu for our budget he also guided us through creating a blueprint for our entire wedding day. Jeff and the Bon Soir team are always calm, always positive, always easy to reach and always working to make sure you get exactly what you want on your big day. No question went unanswered and every question was met with never-ending patience and wisdom from the whole team. We don't know how we would have planned a wedding for 220 people without Jeff's guidance. He even helped us with wonderful suggestions for alcohol and beer vendors and helped us figure out the best amount to order which was above and beyond his call of duty for our party. The entire staff on the day of the event made sure the party was seamless. Every staff member treated us like royalty from start to finish and they were so sweet to our guests. And, now...the FOOD! Every single one of our guests made a point of raving about every item that was served from appetizers to entrees. Everything was fresh, hot, delicious and looked great. Our friends and family went up for seconds and thirds and could not believe we were serving such delicious food at a party for so many people. For example, the pita with our appetizers was served fresh and hot. When have you ever had fresh, hot pita bread at a party? We did (and so did all our guests) at our wedding. Bon Soir was one of several caterers recommended by our wedding venue. We diligently contacted them all, deciding ultimately to go with Bon Soir because they had glowing reviews and offered the best value. We were not disappointed! The passed hors d'oeuvres were abundant--multiple people told us they started turning appetizers away towards the end of the cocktail hour because they were getting full. Very importantly, the food the day of the wedding was as good as it was at our tasting. We received so many compliments, both immediately following and nearly 2 months later. The staff working the event was obviously experienced and worked seamlessly throughout the evening. I highly recommend Bon Soir for your special events!

I will to start by saying that the ends justify the means. At the end of the day, Bon Soir provided good food for a good price and there was plenty of left-overs. There was 156 adults and 14 kids - Bon Soir gave us chicken fingers for the kids, in addition to the appetizers, single entree and three sides, plus bread and coffee/tea for all. Everything was buffet style, and plates were disposable. The staff was friendly and efficient (maybe a little too efficient in sweeping up guests' drinks if it were set down anywhere). My fiance and I came to Jeff pretty late in the game when we realized our first pick for a caterer was not going to work with us on price. We were very happy to find that Jeff was willing to coordinate a package for us, based on a pretty small budget. We definitely experienced some frustrations in trying to get terms in writing. Not to mention a near breakdown on "cost lists" for rentals. Armando - the manager on staff for the event - was terrific in coordinating a pretty seamless order of events. Ultimately, Bon Soir is a great pick for the value option among required vendors at the Picnic House in Prospect Park.

Bon Soir catered our wedding at the Picnic House in Prospect Park over Labor Day weekend. The staff were terrific and so attentive! We were pleasantly surprised to get to our Bride/Bride table after the ceremony/photos to find full plates of everything on the menu! They also checked in a few times during the event to make sure we had everything we needed, which helped us avoid the issue of not having time to eat during the wedding. Staff seemed to really know what they were doing and made sure the day ran smoothly with food, setup, and flipping the space from ceremony to dinner without a hitch. We also received several compliments from our guests on the food. In general, Jeff was easy to work with and pretty communicative via email. The only thing that was a little frustrating was the cost breakdown of the rentals (e.g., tables, glassware, etc.) - would have been great to have a more clear explanation of why each item was needed. Although we were initially a little nervous about being limited to a small group of caterers on the Picnic House's list, Bon Soir ended up being great and we were very happy with our experience! Would definitely recommend them for Picnic House weddings and otherwise. Our wedding was beautiful from start to finish.

On October 21, 2018 Bon Soir catered Kingsborough Community College's annual Homecoming Day. Thanks to Jeff, his incredible staff, and mouth watering food all 850 of our guests had an outstanding breakfast and lunch! Our theme was Treasure Island and the coconut crusted chicken breast, pulled pork, veggie burgers, all beef franks and fixins', cole slaw, sautéed butternut squash, cheesy mac and cheese and tropical fruit for dessert was the perfect menu to keep with the theme. We can always count on the Bon Soir team to do a fantastic job! I highly recommend them for any affair big or small.

Jeff at Bon Soir catered our wedding at the Prospect Park Picnic House last Spring and did an AMAZING job! He held our hand the whole way through and dealt with all my questions and concerns just perfectly. He and his staff were such a pleasure to work with. And, above all, our guests raved about the food both that night and months after the wedding! Highly recommend.

Bon Soir Catered my wedding basically one week after hurricane Sandy. Jeff lives and works out of south Brooklyn, which was essentially demolished, without electricity, heat and was inhabitable for weeks after the storm. Between the astonishing stress of worrying about my family, my fellow NYers and the wedding that we saved and planned for, Jeff was a rock to lean on, dispite his own predicament. He could have walked away and let insurance take care of losses, but as a dedicated business man and overall lovely person, sat on the phone with me, assuring me the wedding would go and be beautiful. He talked me into having the wedding, not cancelling, even though so many around us, including him, lost so much. Jeff told me, everyone will need a good excuse to celebrate being alive and having one another, they will need this. He assured me the food and service would still be impeccable, and boy was he right. Our wedding at Gary's Loft was the perfect night Jeff promised. The food (bbq style) was the comfort food everyone needed after the chaos and destruction of that terrible storm. From our first tasting to our last goodbyes as the food was served, Jeff was the epitome of what you would want in a caterer! Every guest raved about the food and the quantity. One family member said at the cocktail hour, that the food did not stop coming out and it was delicious. This review is very late but the information speaks volumes of Jeff's character and professionalism. I would recommend Bon Soir to anyone! We were so lucky to have found them!!

We just had our daughter's Sweet 16 catered by Bon Soir. It could not have been any better! The food was delicious and so beautifully presented. Jeff and his team know what they are doing and I was able to relax and enjoy the party, free of any worries. I hope to use them again in the future!

I'd like to add to my husband's review below. The day we went for our tasting at Bon Soir, we were already running late due to crazy Brooklyn traffic, and then we blew out a tire when we hit a massive pothole. We called Jeff to let him know we'd be running late, and he offered to come pick us up from the gas station so we could eat while we waited for AAA to arrive. He went above and beyond to help us out in this situation, and that really meant something to us. The tasting was amazing, more food than we could even eat in one sitting, and Jeff gave us so much helpful information while we ate. When we finished, one of the chefs gave us a ride back to the gas station to get our car. Jeff helped us set up our order for the rental company, and also helped us decide on a table layout for our venue. Some of my husband's family was coming in from India and they are strict vegetarians, so we wanted to bring in food from an Indian food restaurant to be served during the wedding in addition to the other food that Bon Soir was providing. Jeff was very accommodating and agreed to have his team serve the outside food to our guests as well. The catering went very smoothly the day of and the team definitely made sure the bride and groom were taken care of throughout the night! The food was great, guests especially loved the BBQ station! We wanted something a little different than the traditional seated 3 course meal at our wedding, and Bon Soir was definitely up to the challenge. Book Bon Soir, you won't be disappointed!

I feel like people might be weary of a business that only has 5 star reviews and nothing else - but I can guarantee you this is a real review from a real customer! Bon Soir catered our wedding on 9/19/14 at the Green Building in Brooklyn. It was a pleasure working with Jeff. He was able to work within our budget and was very professional throughout the process. The day of went flawlessly. Whoever was in charge on site (we were so busy we couldnt really have a formal intro) was on top of everything. As soon as cocktail hour started, they came to us personally with a plate of apps that were being passed to make sure we ate...that was one thing all couples that got married told us....you're so busy you have no time to eat. It was much appreciated. He checked in on us throughout the night, offering to make us our plate for dinner and bring us drinks. It was unexpected and much appreciated even if we did not take him up on the offer all the time. So in the end, we were very happy with their services for our big day. No issues whatsoever.

Three years later, and we are still getting comments from our friends and family about our beautiful wedding reception at Queens County Farm, and the delicious food! We were thrilled with our experience with Jeff and his team, and hope we can use Bon Soir/The Smoking Grill again in years to come!

4/28/2012 We just celebrated our 50th Anniversary w/family & friends and Bon Soir made our Brunch PERFECT!!!!! Fran (has worked w/Jeff 20+yrs) our first contact, was warm, friendly and completely reassuring our millions of questions. Jeff Riley responded promptly to each call and e-mail, unlike several other caterers. He was great with menu suggestions of which you have enormous choices and totally alleviated our anticipated nightmare. His food & preparation was fabulous on all levels. We had an extensive buffet and everything was scrumptious. He was truly amazing to work with. The team he sent was awesome. The Chiefs were incredible, while cooking they answered all questions graciously. The set up of the buffet was fabulous and they did it all seemingly without effort. The preparation of food and plating's were with total perfection. The servers were professional in all they did, and they did it all...Served our guests with anything they wanted from the food to drinks of all kinds, and dirty plates were immediately cleared without having to ask, ever....The cleanup was preformed with exactly the same proficiently. All who attended are still talking about the food and service. We will be forever grateful to Jeff and his team for making our Celebration wonderful!!!

We are just coming down from the high of our wedding which was a blast because of Jeff and his team. As a bride who was doing almost all of the planning by herself, I was overwhelmed by the stress at times, but felt so taken care of by Jeff. Whatever question or concern I had, he addressed it with calm, confidence, and a no b.s. attitude, and made me feel like no question was silly, no request too much. He went above and beyond a caterer's responsibilities. In short, if you're thinking of going with Bon Soir, think no more. Not only did Jeff feel like a supportive friend throughout the process (my husband and I started to call him "Dr. Jeff" because he also acted as therapist along the way!), but my god, the FOOD. The food, the food, the food. Not only do I come from a family who takes their food seriously, but I married into a family who takes their food even MORE seriously and my brother-in-law is a very successful chef/restauranteur--and all anyone could talk about the next day was the FOOD. Just delicious. I just reread the reviews about Jeff and Bon Soir and can now say from personal experience that they are all true. I see that someone mentioned that with Jeff and his team you're family--and I second that. In fact, my husband and I joked yesterday that we're going to miss Jeff now that the event is over! We attended a wedding on August 4, 2012 and everything was perfect! There were endless appetizers of varied sorts. There was delicious fruit and cheese platters. The main course left nothing to want for. There was plenty of food. Service was excellent, and I can't wait to attend another party by them!

I have been lucky enough to be able to work with Jeff and his terrific team at Bon Soir for the past 10 years for various events and have never been disappointed. Bon Soir can go into any space and take the event to a higher level with ease. We are always amazed at their wide array of choices for catering and are delighted whether it be a hot breakfast for 100 (hands down best hot breakfast catering anywhere!), lunch buffet or box, cocktail receptions with beautiful buffets and amazing passed hors douvres, dinner buffet or sit down it is all very good! Dessert is not to be missed! And if you are looking for BBQ, look no further! I get hungry just writing about it. Seriously, you will not be disappointed to work with them for any of your event needs. They can do it all.

Almost ruined our wedding last July. We should have gone with our gut after the first tasting with Jeff, but he had the lowest prices and came recommended by our venue. The food at our first tasting was really bad. We asked for shrimp and grits to sample; the shrimp had not been cleaned and were inedibly gritty, the grits were not seasoned, we had asked that the dish be pescatarian and there was bacon in the dish. The other food seemed like it was just reheated leftovers from another event. Getting in touch with Jeff after the first tasting was very difficult. I e-mailed him to say that we were very disappointed with the food and very worried. I didn't hear back from him for almost a week. He finally e-mailed a very apologetic letter saying that he'd given a new chef a chance and that the chef was now on probation for serving such terrible food. He offered to have us come in for another tasting, and said he'd have a different chef, Erica, call me. After speaking with Erica, we decided to give Bon Soir another shot.The second tasting went really well. Erica and I had even worked at the same restaurant a few years apart. Unfortunately, Erica's food was our only positive experience with Bon Soir on our wedding day. After we booked Bon Soir, Jeff was very hard to get in touch with. I would call and call his office and his assistant would tell me that he was out of the office,or the phone would go to voicemail. When I did get him on the phone he was really blasé about everything, telling me to relax and that he'd done this a thousand times. Jeff did show up at our venue on the day of our event, but all he did was introduce us to a cook (who, I might add was eating a bagel with tuna salad and dropping tuna salad on the floor) and tell us that everything was taken care of. The issues started right away when we were changing into our wedding clothes; our friend who was marrying us informed me that servers had started to serve the wine to arriving guests. We had specifically instructed them that no alcohol was to be served without food. Our maid of honor's boyfriend ran downstairs and told them to stop serving alcohol. They then stopped serving ALL drinks. I found out later that they'd even refused to give my mother a glass of water! Then, when we went outside for passed hors d'oeuvres, the servers were supposed to pour champagne, but they didn't. I had to leave my family and friends to go over and ask them to start serving it. The service captain then kept coming up to me and asking when he was supposed to do things, as if he had never been given any instructions for the day. He interrupted my conversations with my family who had flown from England to be with me. Finally my father took him aside, told him not to bother me, and to direct questions to him. Dessert was never announced and most of our guests left without knowing we had served it. The worst service mistake came at the end of the night, after my father had tipped the service staff. The staff began to clean up without letting anyone know, and many guests returned to their tables to find their handmade wedding favours were thrown away. A friend of ours quickly rescued them from the trash, thank goodness.Then the service staff refused to clean up anything that was not from the rental company. My wife and I, and her parents spent the last part of our wedding tracking down electric tea lights that Jeff had suggested we buy instead of rent 'because we could re-sell them' (it's a year later and we still have not managed to sell them despite multiple postings on craigslist and amazon), emptying mason jars of flowers, and tracking down 'missing' bottles of wine. All this after Jeff had assured me no less than three times both over the phone and by e-mail that we would not have to clean up anything, and that at the end of our wedding we could just leave. I guess that's what we should have done after the first tasting. About a month after our wedding I sent an e-mail similar to this review to Jeff. I have not heard from him.

This is our 3rd time using Bon Soir catering for our community council events which are always held at NYC Museum. Everything always turns out perfect!! The staff is pleasant and helpful. Once the order is placed there is never a reason to give it a second thought. Delivery has always been on time and the setup and display is always elegant and inviting. The food is amazing, beautiful presentation, fresh and delicisous. We usually cater for 80+ people all of different ethnic backgrounds. Each dish is amazing and enjoyed by all. Excellent experience all around!! We never look eleswhere.

After researching our venue, Jeff employed his creativity and experience to produce an array of options to fill in our details- from flowers to DJ. His 35+ years of experience in the industry have given him a genuine understanding of the nuances of all vendors and their ability to adapt to a client's desires and space. On such a special day, and as detail-oriented people, we were thrilled to be given such a thorough understanding of the possibilities and limitations of our space from the ceremony to the cocktail hour to the 11pm dance to Journey. He offered recommendations and was candid in feedback, but always understood that it was our wedding and would do anything to ensure that our hopes were surpassed. Jeff delivered. The day of the event: Jeff's team arrived well in advance to leave nothing to chance. The team introduced themselves and I immediately knew that they would be great with our guests. Given the that our wedding was 3 hours outside of the city, the staff was more than friendly and excited to be a part of our special day. The ceremony: His team helped everyone find their seats and even helped keep the bridal party at ease and execute the ceremony without being imposing. They went above and beyond to ensure that our day went off without a hitch. They didn't have to do this. Cocktail hour: Guests are still talking about the appetizers. Hot, fresh, and full of flavor in what is often an overlooked portion of the evening. Each appetizer was better than the last. Guests were scouring the event space trying to find more of what had been raved about by friends, but were easily distracted by passing trays not wanting to miss anything. The scallops wrapped in bacon and ceviche were our personal favorites. Both perfectly prepared and fresh. Unbelievable for appetizers passed on a tray. Dinner: We started with a gorgeous arcadian field green and beet salad with dijon vinaigrette. Fresh, balanced, and beautiful. The bread was fresh. I later found out that Jeff had our butter rosettes shipped in from Wisconsin hours before because he wasn't satisfied with the local offerings. He insisted on the best. We served steamed carrots, asparagus and whipped potatoes with a choice of filet mignon or mahi mahi with a mango chutney. First, the filet- beautifully cooked on the grills set up outside. Beautiful medium to medium-rare at our request. Guest comments: "One of the best steaks I've ever had" and "I can't believe this quality of steak was served at a wedding." The mahi mahi was perfectly cooked also. I was skeptical of serving fish at an event for 130 people, but if was beautifully prepared, fresh, and not dry! The mango chutney was freshly prepared and fantastic. Not from a jar. Dessert: Between the chocolate mousse with raspberry coulis and the desserts which were passed around the event (Breyer's vanilla milkshake shooters!), there was something for everyone. For those of us that eat everything, this was dangerous because I couldn't help but eat everything. Special menus: My brother and his girlfriend are both vegan. Both raved about the cuisine. Just because someone has special dietary needs doesn't mean they have to be restricted! Jeff paid as much attention to their two entrees as he did to each of the beautiful filets. I even snuck bites of their food because I couldn't help myself. Do not look elsewhere. The food is comparable to the finest in the city, but the attention to detail and care you receive cannot be overlooked. In what can be a stressful time, finding someone you can trust is critical. I admire Jeff for the excellence he brings to his profession, and I could not imagine my wedding without his passion for ensuring our special day was truly unforgettable. You will not be disappointed.

You know the food at your wedding was delicious when guests, family and friends are still raving about it even 2 months after they've had it! Jeff Riley and Bon Soir Caterers had me and my then fiance at first bite! We had our food tasting with him, and pretty much decided on the spot that we wanted to work with Bon Soir Caterers for our cocktail hour and dinner reception. With Jeff, you get so much more for your money, and I don't just mean quantity with that. Exhibit A? The first thing I heard upon entering our reception venue coming for cocktail hour, was how AMAZING and DELICIOUS each of the 10 different appetizers/passed hors d'oeuvres was, and how warm and efficient the staff were. Exhibit B? So many guests have told us that while they've learned to expect the appetizers/hors d'oeuvres to be the best part of the meal coming from other weddings, they were so happy and pleasantly surprised at how delicious our entrees were as well! Exhibit C? Jeff was able to bring in some hard-to-find drinks/beverages that I requested so my fiance and I could each have something representative of our culture/ethnicity. These are just small examples of how wonderful it was to work with Bon Soir Caterers! Jeff and his team at Bon Soir Caterers truly helped make our wedding a memorable and happy one. I went to a Dem. Club Installation the other evening that was catered by Bon Soir. In the past I always thoroughly enjoyed that caterer's food. However, a few of us commented on how luscious looking the two plates of fruits looked but when one selected the melon slices (cantalope and honeydew), we were sadly surprised that the melon skins were still on the melons. Most likely the melons were not washed before they were added to the fruit dishes, said a friend, so we passed up the fruits. I'm happy I was made aware of this carelessness by Bon Soir Caterers.

We used Bon Soir for our wedding in Prospect Park in April 2016. We couldn't have been happier. Jeff clearly has extensive experience, especially with our Picnic House venue, and he was such a help to provide insights on the layout -- even in some cases saving us money, like when I thought I wanted to hang bistro lights but he rightfully pointed out that most of our reception would be before sunset. Most importantly, the food was AMAZING and we still have guests talking about it. One actually texted me during the reception "best wedding food ever." We had a full barbecue spread, and Jeff provided expert advice on all the dishes we should supplement with to make sure that all dietary preferences were taken care of. The service that night was great, and everything came off according to the timeline we talked about. As others have noted, communication wasn't always quick especially when we were still a few months out from the wedding, but all pricing and contracts were very transparent and I simply just needed to call if I needed an answer quickly. All in all, we had nothing to worry about with Bon Soir, which let us have the best time ever at our reception. Thank you Jeff and team!!

we hired jeff for our january wedding at the picnic house in prospect park. while i was wary at first of having to use one of the venue's "preferred caterers", i could not be happier with the food and service that jeff and his crew provided. i admit that i got frustrated a few times when my emails went days without a response but in the end, jeff knows what he's doing and the proof is in the fact that my guests STILL talk about how great the food was. jeff and the chef, erica, were very accommodating of my (and my guests') food allergies ... they even made me my own special platter to nibble off of as i was getting bustled! little details like that really made all the difference in the world. the fact that they could produce such quality food with a makeshift kitchen is pretty incredible!

Bonsoir has catered several of our Community events and they have consistently impressed us. The food is fresh and delicious, the presentation is beautiful, and they are always professional. As a nonprofit organization we have to work within a limited budget and Bonsoir helps us put together a perfect menu that meets our needs. They certainly contribute to the overall success of our events.

Courteous, competitive, professional, but most of all delicious. My wife and I may have another wedding... just to eat this food again. We had a simple, southwestern themed wedding, that Jeff cooperated on fully. He coordinated with our other vendors, and worked to get us what WE wanted. Thank you, Jeff.

I could not have imagined using anyone else to cater my wedding! I am getting ready to leave for my honeymoon but had to stop and write this review before heading out the door. Jeff and his staff at Bon Soir were not only professional, they handled EVERYTHING!! I was married at the Queens County Farm Museum and from the decorations to the food, I didn't have to worry. The food was so good that our guests were asking for the contact information at the end of the night! Jeff made us feel like we were his only clients in the world and the food was better than we could have expected. If there are any doubts about having real BBQ or using Bon Soir as your caterer, leave them behind. They are the way to go!!

Bon Soir Caterers -- led by the wonderful Jeff -- were just fantastic for our February wedding. Jeff is a joy to work with, and really helped us tremendously with not only the food, but the layout of our venue, and the wine (helmed by another nice Jeff). The food -- which we were able to taste and tweak until we found the right menu -- was just terrific, and we received many compliments on it.. To top it off, the prices were much better than the other caterers we found. Thank you so much, Jeff, and Bon Soir, for making us feel so relaxed about the catering because we knew we were in the right hands!
