Bonchon Miami Beach - Review - South Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"Bonchon fans rejoice. And then immediately get sad, because you’ll be severely disappointed. The Korean fried chicken spot has finally come to Miami, but if you’re a diehard fan who’s been chasing the fast food franchise around the world, we’re sad to report that their South Beach location (Miami’s first) is bad. The chicken wings somehow manage to be simultaneously crunchy and soggy. The bulgogi fries are only great if you’ve consumed too many Ocean Drive margaritas. If you’re going to have a stomach ache tomorrow morning anyway from partying, then why not add some giant drumsticks that look like they belonged to a Frankensteined chicken that’s never used its legs. But if you want great Korean fried chicken, just go to CM Chicken in North Miami Beach. video credit: Virginia Otazo video credit: Virginia Otazo video credit: Virginia Otazo Pause Unmute" - Virginia Otazo

Miami’s Newest Restaurant Openings in May 2025 | Eater Miami

"Korean fried chicken restaurant opened its first Miami location in South Beach, offering chicken in several formats — wings, strips, drums, and boneless nuggets — with sauce choices of soy garlic, spicy, Korean barbecue, or half-and-half. The menu also includes other Korean favorites like bulgogi, potstickers, bibimbap, and chicken katsu." - Laine Doss

We went during happy hour for $1 wings- only on Monday and Tuesday! We tried wing flavors soy+garlic and spicy …super duper good and has a nice crunch. The fries were crispy with the seasoning (Parmesan fries). The family friendly sports bar atmosphere was great for bringing a change to Miami Beach and the prices were fair. We will be back!

I’m so happy I gave this place a shot. I am not a huge fan of friend food. But super surprised with how tasty the chicken that Bonchon serves tasted. Also, amazed at how large the drumsticks are. I had a trio and couldn’t get through them all. They were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The Yangyeom sauce that they came battered in was superb, a good mix of sweet and spicy. Another stand out is their Korean donut. So fluffy and soft, covered in cinnamon and sugar served with condensed milk…just wow. Cannot express how much I enjoy it. The only reason I didn’t give this place 5 stars is that I did not get to try the other dishes and want to come back to do so. But I will say that this is a welcome addition to South Beach. It’s economical, laid back without sacrificing quality. I can see people easily coming in with a family for a casual dinner or after a long day on the beach. The bar seating also had outlets to plug electronics, nice touch for people who have to do a working lunch, or travelers passing through. The service was excellent too. The two servers who attended me were very sweet and attentive.

The most okay food I’ve had with the exception of the wings. The wings flavor were great but the other dishes, I would think twice before ordering. The fries were okay and the popcorn shrimp were not that good for $13.99. They looked like they were just frozen and tasted that way. Ask before ordering the pickled radish, the one I got were not pickled and were not cut very well. I may not be a chef but it does not take much to know that the kitchen doesn’t really care for their work. The waitress who assisted us, Samantha, was very helpful. She made the experience so much better! It sucks that the kitchen doesn’t do a very good job and the waitress are the ones who have to deal with the backlash. Regardless, unless management starts talking to the kitchen about consistency then I will probably not be dining here again.

This is an excellent option for fast casual dining on the Beach, where food can be overpriced and overrated. The options are varied and good for groups of friends or families with different tastes and needs from person to person. I visited twice before reviewing once to go and once dining in. The staff is friendly and professional and knowledgeable about what they're serving. I tried every flavor: Classic Crunch: 4/5 crunch shines with this dry rub. Well done, crispy chicken flavor prominent. No sauce to detract from. Good for takeout if you have a preferred sauce at home. Soy Garlic: 1/5 Salty, as warned by server. In an attempt to be umami forward, it's front-loaded with too much sodium. I took one bite. Korean BBQ: 3/5 Solid BBQ flavor is more sweet and less tangy. Good middle ground. Yangnyeom: 5/5 Perfect blend of sweet and heat. The spice is present but is balanced well here. Spicy: 5/5 A yes for spice lovers. Heat level 🌶🌶🌶🌶 This restaurant has meal deals and a Mon-Tues dine in offer of $1 wings 15 wing max. The Crunch is amazing, as expected from Korean fried chicken. The brined wings are not dipped in the sauce but are painted before serving. Also, the second fry is reserved to just before serving, so they're always hot and fresh. If you're in the Beach and like fried chicken, A Plus Recommends. Do go!

In my small time in Miami this place has easily become one of my TO-GO places. The place is clean and inviting, the food is AMAZING and the wait staff and management are super friendly and down the earth. Big shout out to our waitress Kailey for making sure we were taken care of even when the place was understaffed. 💯

I’ve been to a few different bonchon locations across the world, but this one was just ok. Chicken was fried crispy, but the drums on some parts were very dry and the meat had pulled away from the outside of the chicken. Flats were very fatty as well so not the best. Overall it was ok, but not the best. In addition, the soy flavor we got was very salty. We also ordered the japchae and the pork belly bao buns and both were just ok. Pretty standard for any asian place, nothing too unique flavor wise. I give this 3* because it’s just fine. I’d come here if someone invited me, but I don’t think i’d come back on my own. Both my husband and I had stomach aches about an hour after finishing our meal, and are still feeling the effects a few hours later. We eat korean food like this all the time and never had an issue, and the only thing we both had today in common was the Bonchon fried chicken. Do with that info as you may. Also to note, we were only 2 people dining and we were charged an automatic 18% gratuity. Be careful when you go to pay, because on the signature receipt when you pay with a credit card, it does not tell you again that you already tipped and suggests 18%, 20%, 22%, amounts at the bottom. Don’t tip twice unless you mean to. Kind of sad this place was just average because i was looking forward to finally having a bonchon in south florida.

Google
I've been eagerly anticipating the opening of this location for some time now and I was very excited to go today. Our server, Jordaisha, was very nice and attentive. The food also arrived pretty quickly. We ordered a medium combo of soy garlic wings and drumsticks, bulgogi fries, regular fries, and steamed rice. These dishes were very flavorful and my family and I really enjoyed them. As mentioned by others, there was an 18% service fee that was added to our total but the food itself wasn't too expensive, so we didn't really mind. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience and we'll be back to try other dishes from the menu.

Yelp
The newly opened Bonchon Restaurant Miami Beach is my new favorite spot. I love their signature Korean Fried Chicken, a soy garlic flavored, double-fried drumstick or wings. A crunchy on the outside, very tasty chicken. Bulgogi Bibimbap is my other favorite, steamed rice topped with beef bibimbap, fried egg, and vegetables. Fast and friendly service in a relaxing and casual ambiance. Check it out!

Yelp
This particular location of Bonchon doesn't compare to the rest of its other locations. 1) The boneless wings straight up tastes like they're from wingstop--in the bland and salty way. 2) The portion of fries for $13 was just sad. 3) The "pickled" radishes... were not pickled/fermented. They were just cubed radishes in water. I ain't ever been had straight up, bland, unfermented radishes at a korean joint before so this was funny, to say the least Service was okay

Yelp
I'm a big fan of Bonchon in Orlando, but this Miami location was a huge disappointment. The food wasn't great--especially the chicken wings. They were big, but had a strange smell, like they were taken straight out of the pack and thrown into the fryer without proper prep. What really got me, though, was the sneaky 18% service fee that I didn't notice until after I paid. I was foolish enough to add an extra tip on top of that. No wonder our waitress's attitude changed immediately after we paid--terrible service all around. The staff was inattentive, offered no guidance, and didn't seem to care one bit. This was my first and definitely last visit to this location. Between the tax, the hidden service charge, and the pressure to tip even more, it feels like a cash grab. Very disappointing. Bonchon, do better.

Yelp
Had an absolutely phenomenal time at Bonchon! Our server/hostess Laura was amazing and we got the food super quick! We absolutely loved every thing we ate and we would definitely be back again. We even bought food to go and it was just as good as eating it fresh in the restaurant!

Yelp
I ordered the yum drum trio that comes with the donut and fries. The serving size was definitely way bigger than I thought, and could probably feed two people. Each drumstick was the size of my hand, they were huge. The sauce and flavor that they toss. The chicken in was good. I tried the soy garlic and Korean barbecue. The skin was extra crispy and I loved it. However, it felt like they just tossed the plain fried chicken with the sauce over it, which I don't really mind but also after you eat the crunchy skin there wasn't much flavor after that. But I am super happy that this is in the area now and if I ever have a craving for a crispy fried chicken, I will definitely come here first. I'm not so much a fan of donuts anyways, but this one was on par with what I had in mind, I love that it was covered in sugar and cinnamon. The fries were good too.

Yelp
This was my first time coming to this place, it's a sit-down restaurant and it was very satisfying! The sizes of the drums are freaking humongous and have a super satisfying crunch! I ordered the Bulgogi Fries and 10 piece mixed wings and drums 1/2 Yangnyeom 1/2 Korean BBQ sauces. The fries are SUPER CRISPY and I enjoyed those a lot! The Bulgogi meat on them was so tasty it went in perfect combination! The chicken tasted pretty good, the sauces were nice and not too spicy. They had a tiny kick to tingle your taste buds. I also had the chance to try the Korean Donuts and they were so amazing, I forgot to take a picture of them! Those definitely hit the spot after the savory fries and crunchy chicken. I recommend them if you enjoy soft pillowy braided donuts that pull apart and are soft in the middle but crispy on the outside. 10 out of 10 for those! Service was great and the ambiance isn't too noisy. It's a good place to chill and eat some delectable foods. The prices might seem a bit steep at first but for the taste, quality, and quantity, it's totally worth it! Try it if you haven't, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Yelp
I left disappointed and hungry. The first thing that hit me when we entered was the smell of frying oil. Not a good sign. The second was the loud music, for a different audience. A couple were eating at one table, three people were at the counter. We were directed to sit where we wanted. The waitress said just let her know when we were ready to order - took at least 5 minutes to get her attention. We ordered Bibimbop and japchae. I was surprised it was almost $5 extra to get kimchi, which is standard with Bibimbop. We waited at least 20 minutes and had to ask how long it would be ... they were still cooking. Did any of the workers explain or apologize, try to engage us, try to stop us, anything ... no. Yes, we left without our meals.

Yelp
was looking forward to visit the place great build out. The service was like getting treated by three Gen Z barista's. That just did not wanna be there. Food is mediocre and a little expensive feel bad for them investors they should hire people that actually want to be there. I went Sunday for lunch. they look hung over and the cook just looked plain angry not going back there anyway anytime soon.

Yelp
5 Stars - Bonchon is My Love Language! Let me tell you -- I've been hooked on Bonchon ever since I first tried it in Orlando. That unforgettable crunch, the bold flavors... it was love at first bite. So this Mother's Day, I had one wish: Bonchon. And my amazing husband made it happen -- we drove all the way from Cutler Bay just to satisfy my craving. And wow, was it worth it. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and smiles. The real highlight? John, the partner on duty. He went above and beyond to make our visit feel truly special. So kind, so generous, and clearly passionate about what he does. You don't always get service like that these days -- John made us feel like family. The food? Perfection, as always. Crispy yangnyeom legs for me (pure bliss), and now -- thanks to this visit -- my husband is officially a fan too. He couldn't stop raving about how flavorful and perfectly cooked everything was. Bonchon made a believer out of him! The ending of the dish... the Thai donuts were decadent.. had us licking our fingers! Bonchon isn't just dinner. It's a destination. It's a tradition in the making for us. Thank you to John and the incredible team for making my Mother's Day feel so memorable -- we'll definitely be back again and again. Can't wait for the Doral opening! We will be there for sure!!!!

Yelp
$1.00 wings on Monday and Tuesday which I took advantage of on both days since you can't really get much in south beach for under $20. Dine in only (no to go). Limit is 15 wings. No wait and no lines the day I went and it was around 6:30pm. Got my food within ten minutes of ordering at my table. Loved the wings! They are good sized and very crispy. Had to take home my leftovers. Ordered Korean BBQ and Yangnyeom (my favorite). Server was really kind and helpful. Shoutout to Shannelle! P.S. not sure if this is a limited time promotion but definitely worth a try. Looks like regular price for a 10 piece is $15.99

Yelp
Good wings! Japchae was on point. Disappointed with the bibimbap. The street corn was full of butter and cheese. Delicious, but man was that not healthy.

Yelp
The soy garlic is so good! Delicious fresh hot crunchy chicken with amazing flavors. The spicy is good but it is crazy spicy

Yelp
Well, my family of Three didn't even get to the food part after waiting for our food for more than an hour. When we begin to noticed that people who ordered after us getting their food we knew something was wrong. Our server kept telling us that the food is coming out, LIES! I can't believe that my family, Korean Americans, actually got discriminated at the Korean Fried Chicken place is just beyond me. They were busy serving other people and completely and intentionally didn't gave us the food that we have ordered. I will only stick with BB.Q for my KFC now, we don't need this Bonchon BS...

Yelp
Tried the Korean street corn, japchae and mixed chicken spicy and yangnyeom sauce is the way to go! Although the soy garlic is also good! 10/10.

Yelp
As a new resident of Miami Beach, I decided to give this establishment a try. As a chef, I'm reluctant to try chain restaurants, but I thought why not. I was seated brought water, asked my order. After placing my order 3 minutes later there server (Robert) returned and said "Come with me". I was walked to the register to repeat then pay for my food before receiving anything! I was taken back as I'm watching others dine and enjoy their meals without being pressed to pay. I even watched a couple get Togo boxed after eating bag their food and then pay. This all made me extremely uncomfortable. The profiling here on the beach is out of control. I expect it from a smaller restaurant but with a brand this big YOU HAVE TO DO BETTER! ESPECIALLY when the meal was $45.00......I would like to be contacted on the matter asap

Yelp
The people here got great service and the food was great definitely would consider coming back here

Yelp
Amazing Food, service and Ambiance. Victor and the Bon Chon team at the Miami Beach location was great and friendly. Been waiting two long years for bon chon Miami Beach to open. It's finally opened just in time for #Ultra2025. Pick up the mixed medium wings and drumsticks, house fried rice and Bao Buns Chicken for my team at the continuum. My team loved it 10/10. Thank you Bon Chon. We will be back soon!!!

Yelp
wings are good especially the crunch flavor my favorite Korean dish is the japchae. Also servers are very nice and very clean establishment to go with family

Andrew C.

Yelp
Food awesome atmosphere excellent service top notch pricing more or less what I expected overall 10/10

Abbie C.

Yelp
The atmosphere and the store itself is very nice but the food is much left to be desired. The side dishes, the pickled radish wasn't pickled just chopped up daikon radish. The kimchi is old and marinated incorrectly. The ttebokki was extremely over cooked, the fish cakes were soggy and the sauce was a watered down and not the right flavor. The yangnyum sauce was tasty however the chicken had a fried shell and no cohesive. The corn cheese only okay dish. Corndog dry seasoning was okay but actual corn dog tasted stale and artificial. The service was okay the staff seemed overwhelmed with not too many customers in store. Seems they need to just take orders at the front and call out the names versus trying to do table service and take out separately. The manager kept going into kitchen and touching food with no gloves and didn't seem to wash hands in between in kitchen and front of the house. Overall was not a very good representation of typical Bonchon or even Korean experience.
