"Fried chicken fanatics have been waiting since mid-April for the Korean wing juggernaut Bonchon to open and those double-fried dreams were answered this week at 1414 West Lake Street. The former Davanni’s location, across Lake Street from Calhoun Square is Minnesota’s first Bonchon outpost." - Joy Summers

I’ve been to other Bonchon locations and this one was disappointing. I walked in and nobody was in sight. I had to call out for any help before someone came out from the back. The chicken barely had any spicy sauce and it was immediately noticeable because of the color. The chicken felt kind of dry because of this and was simply that- fried chicken. I prefer the Roseville location.

Google
Friendly staff. Food was pretty good but nothing special. The spicy fried chicken is an after burn and lingers. The tteokbokki rice cakes didn't have much flavor but the sauce was nice. Takoyaki was pretty good. The pork buns had nice flavor in the sauce.

Google
Had Bonchon for the first time today. I decided to try their lunch menu options. I also decided for the first time to dine in and eat everything as fresh as possible. The chicken did not disappoint. The Takoyaki was a texture anomaly but it had great flavor and I would still recommend it. 10/10

I’ve been passing by this place for the last few months, so I decided to finally check it out and try Korean Fried Chicken for the 1st time. I ordered the combo spicy and soy garlic chicken, seasoned fries, coleslaw, takoyaki, and Korean donuts. The chicken was very good and I liked the breading. They were very crispy and the 2 flavors tasted great. The coleslaw & seasoned fries were also good. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of the takoyaki. I haven’t had takoyaki before, so I’m not sure what it’s supposed to look or taste like. However, I was expecting it to be a little crunchy on the outside. Instead, it was very squishy and didn’t seem like it was cooked long enough. The Korean donuts were fluffy and tasty. I would recommend getting the icing dipping sauce with the donuts. My order came out to $38, which is a little pricey; however, I did get a good amount of food & I will be coming back!

The place is small but has enough space, and the server is friendly as well. It has a funny smell inside, but i know better than to judge the food on the smell of the restaurant. But when i ordered my dish, the smell was coming from the food! i was super hungry, so i ate the tacos anyway. im not going to get them again, though. The korean donuts were what made me want to walk out, idk what kind of oil they made them with, but i couldn't finish even half of one. I'm sure there are people who would love them, though.

Google
A bit pricey, but worth every penny. I will say the chicken strips weren't as fried as I would expect, more like litely breaded huge chunks of chicken, but I've loved everything I've had from there. To set expectations, the Buldak is more a chicken dish with a few rice cakes which was a minor disappointment (expected tteokboki with some chicken and a different sauce), but if anything that means it gives you a lot more bang for your buck for most people. This place will definitely become a special treat I have a few times a year.

Google
We went here for the first time today. Their food is pretty good and not salty. Customer service was also pretty good. This is a Korean fried chicken place with a Chinese owner. We could taste the Chinese influence in some dishes. For instance, the fried rice did not taste like Korean fried rice but it was still good. We ordered the seafood udon noodle soup, fried rice, a small drumstick set, and the family combo XL. We parked in front of the building, which had a 30 minute time limit meter, not knowing that it was an hour limit just across the street. So we got the rest of the food to go. We continued to eat once we got home. The amount of food we got fed three of us very comfortably with leftovers left.

Google
Restuarant is on the smaller side, however it is very clean and welcoming. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The food came out fairly quickly and tasted delicious. The wings and fried rice are a MUST try. Prices were reasonable and quality of food was fresh. Would definitely recommend anyone to try this place, I for sure will definitely be going back (whenever I'm back in Minneapolis).

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday. They were open a bit later than a number of other spots. It was quiet and a few other people were around. They had K-pop on the tv and the staff was very nice. I got the Korean bbq chicken strips and coslaw. I also shared fries. The way this was ordered was confusing but I was able to eat a good bit of this and have left overs. The chicken was amazing and a little spicy (i have it on good word spicy here is actually quite spicy for us sensitive to spice folk as indicated by the non spice having a little kick for me). The coslaw was alright and the fries were delicious! The food reheated well and the chicken was even delicious cold. I'd highly recommend visiting here. The chicken is twice fried which adds to the deliciousness.

Mike Y.

Yelp
As usual excellent chicken with soy garlic. It is just super good. Service also very very excellent.

Courtland G.

Yelp
Maybe because it was delivered, but this was disappointing. Anytime I go in it's perfect! It was cold soggy. I don't give it 1 star because it's a hit anytime I go in

Sadie S.

Yelp
takeout: spicy chicken sliders these really disappointed with the little nugget of chicken pieces in mine. my friend got the same and their pieces looked more full. the flavors were balancing together. I'm not the biggest coleslaw fan, but have been trying to be more optimistic about it lol this one was on the sweeter side which balanced the chicken but i was missing something sour * 4/10

Laura W.

Yelp
I have only had Bonchon as delivery before. I was very pleased with the inside of the restaurant. Very clean with sit down tables and a waitress to take your order. I was surprised because I expected a fast food feel. In the past I have gotten fried chicken (which has always been fantastic) but decided to try the Korean tacos with spicy chicken. I asked the waitress how spicy was spicy and she said it was a medium. Definitely NOT medium, if your sensitive to spicy things I would not recommend this. I LOVED it though, there is a great balance between the chicken and the cabbage. The tteobokki was also excellent (very spicy too). If you have never had it before it is a unique texture but it's very good!

Aaron T.

Yelp
The each classics with rice and chicken with a little sauce, hard to get wrong. Comes out quick and easy. Also a very convenient place across from the gym and eat cheap.

Tim O.

Yelp
The fried chicken always had a nice crunch. Too bad it's a franchise and very over priced. Almost $20 for Japchae with no protein and not the biggest portions.

Kaitlyn A.

Yelp
Great food, good portions for the price. Exactly what I was looking for, enough heat with the spice and easy to order as take out. Will be back!

Liz P.

Yelp
Stopped in after a walk. They were some of the few places that were open due to pandemic and violent times within the uptown areas. They were open for indoor seating with distance and masks. Staff was fast and friendly. Place was nice and clean. We ordered the chicken wings (mixed sweet and spicy) with some coleslaw and some takoyaki. Chicken wings were nice and crispy. All delicious. Would like to come back and try other items on menu.

Kaylie B.

Yelp
Big portion sizes for what you pay for and the soy garlic wings were fantastic! One tip - do not get the "very spicy" meals if you can't handle veryyyyy spicy stuff! My boyfriend couldn't finish his meal cuz it was too much! He was warned though so that's on him hahah! The restaurant itself had a fast food feel but did have servers come to the table. Would recommend for a casual dinner option!

Kelsey K.

Yelp
We tried bonchon delivery during this lovely pandemic we are having. It came very quickly, which is always a plus! This could have been due to many factors I will not go into detail on though. On to the food: the fried chicken was amazing! I didn't even know there was such a thing as Korean fried chicken (sorry i need to get out more). The fried chicken itself is so perfectly crispy! It's not that greasy crispy like other places. And the sauces on them.... soooo goood. I'm not a spicy fan so I haven't tried that one yet but the garlic soy and sweet crunch hit the spot. Every bite was so savory and delicious. Now the other menu items we tried didn't compare. I feel like they had potential though. The pork buns just didn't have the flavor I was hoping for. The Korean tacos were okay. They had too much sauce over them that overpowered everything else. I was really hoping to get a good taste of the meat on them but it was drowned out by the ranch and spicy mayo. For sure delicious fried chicken that I would recommend to anyone!

Elmir M.

Yelp
We went in there assuming the place would be packed but to our surprise most of their orders were take outs and although there were a few other people dining in, the staff was moving around non-stop, handling the orders, serving the food, accepting the payments etc. Props to him Our orders were served warm, tasted delicious and spicy ( as they should be ) and price was reasonable considering the location. Their restrooms were clean as well. The only thing I hope they improve is their selection of beverages. I opted for tap water since they carry only Pepsi products and I'm a Coca Cola person( Sorry ) Overall, it was a great food date with my gf.

Yelp
If the YouTube reaction videos have showed me anything, it's that a lot of non-Korean people haven't had Korean fried chicken and for that I pity your sorry deprived soul. For many years I delighted in secretly enjoying the true "KFC" and all its variety of flavors. In Korea fried chicken and beer often called "Chi-Mek" is synonymous with sporting events and weekend nights out. Korean fried chicken has become the rage in the last few years and with that have come some chains to the US. BonChon is one of those and while it's not a very well known chain in Korea, it has carved out a spot in terms of the foreign market making inroads in many places from Indonesia to Minnesota. While BonChon offers more non-chicken dishes (bit unnormal actually) I highly recommend a full pass on all of those except in cases to indulge curiosity. The chicken flavors are simple: spicy sweet, soy garlic, or original. If it's your first time I recommend trying them all. Personally soy garlic is my favorite. Don't forget the "Mu", cubed pickled radish that serve as a palette cleanser and does wonders to balance the fried chicken. Warning: this crispy, flakey, juicy fried chicken is highly addictive!

Mochi M. Y.

Yelp
Fk their online services, it always rejects my CC and always so SLOW that it makes me mess up the location. Im from MN and I have to do a PICK UP in TX?! fk their app and their online website. DO BETTER.

Ashley B.

Yelp
It's been a few years since I've had Bonchon and, full disclosure, I was living in Virginia the last time I had it before now. But I remember it being way different and much better. Which is a super bummer because I was so excited when this location opened up! I ordered delivery and tried all three flavors of the wings. The sweet crunch flavor was definitely my favorite! I don't remember bonchon having drumsticks and wings, but that's what I got. I thought the wings were super greasy and the other flavors didn't really stand out. It was a lackluster experience after having so much hype. I'll be back around to try again in a few months! Hopefully they're just ironing out some kinks since it's so new.

Marnita S.

Yelp
Ordered Bonchon to be delivered this week. Was very disappointed. The fried chicken was tasty but Bonchon cheats its customers. They cut the chicken wing so that they have the small part of the wing and the "drummie." then they count the "drummie" as a "drumstick." Seriously overpriced for what you get. I wouldn't order from there again because of this dishonest practice of passing off "drummies" as "drumsticks." They are not. So it wasn't 15 wings and 8 drumsticks. It wasn't even 15 whole wings for $42. The food would have been great but for that practice.

Yelp
UPDATE: After posting this review about my experience I received a call back from Bonchon and a refund was facilitated. I have changed this review from one star to three stars. * * * About a week ago I placed an online order that I picked up shortly before they closed. I realized when I got home that the woman at the counter had given me the wrong order. I tried to contact Bonchon numerous times via email and did not receive any response. I then called the store, and the gentleman I spoke with refused to give me a refund, was quite rude, hung up on me twice. I tend to be quite patient, but it was that second hang up that brought me here. As much as I'd love to tell you all to support this place my experiences there just haven't been very good, and while this particular experience was beyond acceptable it really isn't that much of an outlier.

Giselle S.

Yelp
Soooo my husband brought me carry out from Bonchon. It was spicy and wonderful. The sweet wings were good and tasty but the spicy wings were my favorite. They are real spicy not the Minnesota version of spicy. The flavor is satisfying and the spice is awesome. The Bulgogi Fried Rice was also a winning choice. It was flavorful and cooked nicely. The Chop on the red peppers was a little larger than I like but did not take away from the flavor. The coleslaw had a good sweet flavor with just enough acid to balance the flavor nicely. The carry out was good I'm looking forward to the dine in experience.

Shamir W.

Yelp
Solid korean chicken every time I have ordered takeout. Doesn't disappoint.

Déjà J.

Yelp
Chicken was soooooo good! I mostly only eat chicken, so when I heard there was new "chicken place" opening I was so excited. I figured it would be super busy after it first opened because, well hype and seeing all the Instragram pictures and post. It looked really good in the photos btw. By time we went, I guess the hype has died down, wasn't busy or packed at all. My sister and I decided to give it a try. We ordered a 10 piece mix (half spicy, half regular), Thai fried rice (without the red pepper) and fries. The chicken was really good and crunchy. The spicy was really spicy (I mean it really had a kick, and I love spicy food) and the regular wings (still had sauce) were really good as well. The chicken wings were pretty big, with the sides we ended up only eating 3 wings each and bringing 4 home. Even the left overs stayed crunchy. The Thai fried rice was pretty basic rice. I liked it but my sister did not. She didn't think it had enough flavor. The Fries were just fries. Nothing Special. It's a cute small restaurant. I feel like it had enough seating but it's all kind of too close together. I think next time I'd be more comfortable taking out. There's metered parking out front, even if you are only running in to grab your take order I would just pay for parking. I seen a few cars get tickets for parking at meters for not paying and parking in areas where it says no parking between certain times. The chicken is probably worth the parking ticket though, to be honest, lol. I just don't want any on my record.

Heaven H.

Yelp
Service is always great at this location. love the vibe and how quick they are to tend to you! wings are my fav so def check them out!

Terri L.

Yelp
**Pre-COVID Review** Bonchon is such a great franchise but not all franchises are alike. I had my fill of Bonchon at Chicago and they are a pretty solid service. The Minneapolis one is newer and still finding their groove. The Uptown location looks really nice decoration wise but it is Uptown and I am personally not a fan of the Uptown location. Mainly because of parking and getting to Uptown can be stressful especially the winter. When we had the Chicken, it was amazing. I personally love the soy glazed chicken. If you love spicy. Get the spicy. Wait is kinda of bad and service was slow ish. Also there is ethical issues with the establishment, taking tips from their employees. That make it hard when coming back and support. If you are REALLY craving Korean Fried Chicken, sure. Otherwise meh.

Carrie W.

Yelp
Went with a friend today we ordered the soy garlic wings excellent. The fries have a coating on them that is tasty. We had Korean bulgogi tacos. Very tasty but they should have cut more of the fat off the meat it made the tacos chewy. The bimimbap was not very tasty. I don't care for really spicy food so that could have been the problem I did not put hot sauce on so it was pretty bland.

Jennifer N.

Yelp
This location on a Friday night surprisingly was not packed to the brim like I would imagine. I came here and was seated quickly and our server was very nice. We ordered potstickers and tteokbokki to start. Both of which were pretty decent! I really like that their potstickers get tossed in the same sauces as their wings instead of the of soy sauce-based dip. Their rice cakes were spicy and creamy, but nothing too special. Their wings were also okay. I enjoy their spicy sauce more than their soy garlic. I think their soy garlic can be a bit too sweet. Their spicy sauce is indeed spicy but it's definitely my favored option for the two. Their fry was okay, I definitely think it wasn't as crispy as I've had at other bonchon locations and just seemed like standard wings tossed in sauce. I used to be a fan of the bonchon chain, but seems that their locations in MN doesn't compare to other states.

Phet P.

Yelp
First time having Korean fried chicken and it was delicious. I also recommend the takoyaki and salmon dome so good. definitely my go-to when I'm craving fried chicken or Korean food.

Robert W.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying I'm a HUGE fan of Korean Fried Chicken and had heard good things about the Bonchon chain. When I went in, the inside was pretty nice for a fast food chain with a surprisingly wide selection of beers for their happy hour (3-6 M-F). I opted for the 12 count Chicken Tenders and did half and half Spicy and Soy Garlic and chose Coleslaw as my side. For starters, I find it crazy the smallest denomination of chicken you can get outside of their lunch special is 12 piece either boneless wings or tenders and they each set you back about $13 which is fair for 12, but wild when it's the smallest size in my opinion. I definitely should have opted for the drumsticks or wings instead of the tenders as the tenders were pretty sad (see the picture). They were small, very flat, and dry/over-cooked. They were redeemed by the sauces they were coated in. The spicy was really flavorful with a strong gochugang taste, but a little too spicy for me to enjoy a lot of (my spice tolerance is probably average to below average). The soy garlic were perfect, sweet and savory and delicious. The coleslaw was also good, but I wish the fries were an option as a side outside of lunch as otherwise they'll set you back another $5. Overall, the food is decent and seems worth it for their lunch special which I have yet to try. However, paying full price at dinner for this quality isn't exactly something I'm excited to do again.

George G.

Yelp
Great chicken. Delivered at a great speed. Provided sauce is only a small amount. Takoyaki is mid too.

Zabeth C.

Yelp
Get the seasoned fries and the wings. The basic fries taste nothing in comparison to the seasoned. Wings are tasty and crunchy! Can't go wrong with that. The Tteobokki wasn't bad but I didn't feel like they put enough rice cakes in it It felt like spicy chicken sauce and that it.

Nancy Q.

Yelp
Tradition Korean it's not, but a great place to find Korean fried chicken in Minneapolis none-the-less. Be ready for some spice if you order Spicy wings. It comes with a kick, followed by some sweetness. I lean towards less spicy alternatives and loved the soy garlic. You can order with two flavors and try both! My favorites were probably the seasoned fries and edamame. We also ordered bull dak (super spicy chicken skillet with cheese), and kimchi bacon fried rice. Wish there were more kimchi flavor and bacon bits in the rice.

Paula C.

Yelp
I've always loved Bonchon and I'm never disappointed with their fried chicken (soy) drumsticks and bone-in wings! However, the boneless wings were a little on the dry side but nonetheless, I'd still come back to satisfy my korean fried chicken + steamed rice combo

Jenny L.

Yelp
Forget KFC and Bdubs, there's a newcomer in town, and IT. IS. GLORIOUS. I love fried chicken. Whatever human being who thought frying a bird would taste so damn delicious, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Southern fried chicken is great, chicken wings are great, but if you're looking to try something different and amazing, look no further. Bonchon is a chain, but the quality and flavor hasn't suffered. I got an small half spicy and half soy garlic order of the combo (6 wings & 3 drumsticks) and we shared an order of seasoned fries and tteokbokki. I also ordered a Hite beer for that chimaek life. The chicken was great - the spicy was good heat but not scald your eyebrows spicy but I prefer the soy garlic for a more enjoyable bite. The skin, crispy and ASMR porn, was so delicate and a delight to eat. The meat was moist and juicy, and I'm salivating just thinking about it now. Keep in mind that drumsticks refer to the thigh part of a chicken, not the drumstick part of the wing, which comes with the wing order. Definitely choose the pickled radish side, as it cuts through the grease of the chicken and is super refreshing and crunchy. I could eat a whole bowl of those without the chicken. The seasoned fries were bomb. The cheese and seasonings they put on there make them taste like a potato breadstick, and I love it. The tteokbokki wasn't that great though, and tasted processed and chalky. The cheese is an interesting addition, but I would have preferred if the sauce was without it. The sauce had nice heat, even if the rice cakes themselves weren't good. It's edible and okay if you're really dying from some tteokbokki, but I've had (and would recommend) much better in the cities. I went during happy hour (2-6 PM M-F) so all beers are $4, and they also have some wines and non boozy drinks. Wouldn't recommend ordering any of the bottled beers outside of happy hour, as they're $7 for different countries' light beers. They also have three canned Surly brews which are also $4 during HH and a little more worth it for $7 outside of HH, but still pricy for Surly canned. Service is okay. Not the most warm servers, but they're quick and efficient, easy to get hold of, and keep your water full. Parking is a pain (lol uptown) but there's some metered parking around past 30 minutes and a ramp. I'm happy Bonchon decided to come to Minneapolis, and I'm excited to have a consistent place to get my korean fried chicken fix!

Julie T.

Yelp
I am not sure if I would go back to Bonchon again, considering there are so many good Korean places in the Twin Cities. I waited a long time before visiting this new wave that swept the city and came out rather underwhelmed. I am glad I waited. I heard that the line used to go out the door and since they don't take rsvp, it's like an hour wait. I would be pissed if I had to wait long, haha. Turns out, I went on a Friday night and there were lots of available tables now. The chicken was crunchy but so are other chicken wing places I frequent like Buffalo Wild Wings and Green mill. The sauce was okay. Maybe I am just not a super saucy crispy chicken person. If I want to get really good fried chicken I go for the classic with buttermilk crunch and then add my own ketchup! Yup! I love my fried chicken with ketchup (only ketchup from Trader Joe's, not Heinz). They offer other Korean food as well on the menu. They were good but not as good as other Korean restaurants in town. Overall I can say, I gave it a try and I wish this business all the best!

Binio L.

Yelp
So the place is great. Great location. Attentive service, needs a bit friendlier IMHO. But main reason for 3 stars and not 4 is that my food was a bit bland. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I had heard great things about the food. The wings are great...except that of the batter is removed the meat is plain. No flavor whatsoever if in an earlier bite the batter went away. My banh mi sandwiches. Really good, but again some what bland compared to others I have tasted. Bc the bun is really soft as a steam should be, the fillings should somewhat compensate. I recognize some people might call it really subtle a d delicate flavors and I'd agree with that. But in my case of I go for Asian and Vietnamese food, I am looking for rather punchy flavors. Cleanliness is superb. Ambiance is excellent. Prices I guess are ok for family oriented. If solo, then you can only order main dish. Seems no small snack for solo patrons. I did like my experience though and will go back to try different dishes.

Kari E.

Yelp
I like fried chicken as much as the next person, and had high expectations for the crunch and flavor of Korean Fried Chicken. TBH though, I was a bit let down! First, the chicken was hot and crispy and moist - all good things. I got half spicy and half sweet. I wish they would actually mix these sauces (maybe they'll do it if you ask) as the sweet I think was just honey (very much honey flavor which I don't care for). I honestly can't remember the spicy - not a good thing! I also had the japchae which was ok - nothing spectacular and had a taste of the tteakbokki and it was fine (have nothing to compare it to) but the cheese on it grossed me out (I am told this is not authentic - maybe done for americans who need cheese on everything!). Worth a try, but not some place I would rush back to.

Jun C.

Yelp
Fast service and good chicken. I got the 8 wings lunch meal & got half spicy & half soy garlic. I've been sick for a while so my sense of taste hasn't been normal lately but the chicken wings were good. The spicy were surprisingly spicy and the soy garlic wings were good too, could have been a little sweeter I think. Overall four stars, the service was quick & the food was really good. I'll definitely have to try it again when I'm feeling better.

Jamie G.

Yelp
Great service! Quick and well prepared! Go to is always the chicken katsu or fried chicken.

Sue S.

Yelp
I do love fried chicken, and after seeing enough food porn fried chicken photos float by in my Yelp feed, I decided to give it a shot. We heard it was often busy so we thought Monday night would be a good chance to get in without waiting and we were right. We walked in and were seated immediately, miracle of miracles. Sadly, things went downhill from there. First, let's get this out of the way... the chicken is bomb. Just as good as it looks in the photos. The spicy was really spicy according to my husband. The soy ginger was totally where it's at. Crunchy, crispy, juicy and delicious. I will say the soy does make it a bit salty but it is delicious. And the coleslaw is also delicious and helps counterbalance the saltiness. Second, I saw immediately why it's always so crowded. It's on the premiere corner in Uptown and has a max capacity of 57. Yup, 57. It says so on the wall. So what went bad? A couple of key things. -Other than the chicken and the coleslaw, everything else we had was just OK. We got the pork belly buns, which were alright but did not have the flavor or the crispy texture that I normally associate with pork belly. We also got the ginger sesame chicken salad, which was also OK. Big chunks of cucumber, red pepper and red onion. -Seating: So uncomfortable. We were seated at the window ledge, which at least was lower to the ground and had chairs with backs. There were other higher tables with high stools with no backs. I'm old, I'm fat and I like a good proper chair. I don't think this place was designed with us old people in mind. -Service: Hideous. Our waitress was not very attentive. She never offered us water, and when my husband asked for some she only brought him some. My soda was empty and I asked for a refill at the same time that my husband asked for water. She brought him his water pretty quickly but my soda sat there empty as ate the previously discussed salty chicken. She brought us the rest of our food (it came out at all different times) and then brought the guys next to us more napkins and then finally brought me my soda about two-thirds full. Seriously. And then finally, when I told her I'd like two to-go boxes and the check, she then looked at me blankly and said, "Would you like me to print out the receipt for you?" Yes, that's what I meant by CHECK. Also, when she brought the check, she only included one copy of the receipt (the one labeled customer copy). Sorry - but I do actually keep my receipts and reconcile them with my credit card statement each month. This was really not OK with me. It's just poor form and unprofessional. So, if we could get some of this amazing fried chicken without the trek into Uptown, the uncomfortable seats and the bad service, I would be all about it. As it stands, we may come back occasionally, but it probably will be awhile. The chicken IS still amazing, though. Hands-down delicious.

Yelp
Move over, Colonel Sanders... KFC = KOREAN fried chicken now, and also you're kinda creepy anyways. Bonchon is new in town, and will be opening another location in Dinkytown. Since they're so new, expect long waits and a few kinks, but all that considered, I'm already a fan! We got tteokbokki (spicy rice cake), kimchi, and a medium order of half spicy half garlic soy wings and drumsticks. Cutting to the chase... THE CHICKEN. It's so deliciously double-fried... juicy on the inside and super crunchy on the outside. An ASMR freak's dream! The "spicy" was not spicy, so it's MN nice, I suppose. Your body will keep telling you to stop eating but your mouth will refuse. The radish that comes with it is the perfect compliment and a KFC custom. The tteokbokki could have used some more heat & sweet too, but I'm sure they're working out those kinks, and I hear the bull dak is spicier. I love that it came with a lot of cheese and gimmari on top, though. Lastly, their kimchi is the best I've had in the cities! I got another order of it so I could take it home. Considering being new and the overwhelming amount of people coming here, all of the employees were so calm and friendly. I'm so excited to see Korean culture blowing up in the Midwest. K-pop, K-dramas, mukbang, and Korean food have been gaining popularity, thus making me seem cooler than I am (I hope).

Yelp
CRuNCH! cRUNcH! CRUnch! Yes, that's the sound of me biting through my chicken wings over and over again. This restaurant could cut out everything else they sell and just offer wings, and I would still drive out of my way to come eat here! It is unbelievable how crunchy they get their chicken. I am truly amazed and thrilled that they've opened up a location in Minneapolis. That spicy sauce that they toss their chicken and pot-stickers in is FINGER LICKING GOOD! I can't wait to visit them again. On a service note... It drives me absolutely crazy that people give low stars to a restaurant based on service during a SOFT OPENING! -__- If you want stellar service, I suggest you stay home and go once they're actually running at full capacity. Yes, the restaurant was packed and busy and there were some tiny mix-ups but this is what a soft-opening is for! Know what you're getting yourself into. Through the business and crowded-ness during last nights dinner service, the staff remained pleasant and so sweet! They were kind and if we had to ask for anything, they were on it! I will say, I cannot wait until they're running at full capacity. This little gem is a great addition to Uptown. Well done!

Yelp
Finally!!!! Been waiting for awhile for this location to open up! I went on the weekday during the afternoon and was seated right away. It was so hard to choose what items to choose from the menu. I loved the fried chicken!! Super crispy and tasty! I can't wait to come back and try the other flavors. I liked most of the food I ordered. I wasn't sure what I was expecting with the salmon avocado.... I thought it was going to be a warm dish. It was the least thing I liked but I'm glad I tried it! Really can't wait to come back and try the other foods on the menu!

Yelp
Solid Korean fried chicken place, however, I only really thought the bone in chicken was good, the boneless chicken was a bit hard and salty. Ambience: Smaller restaurant, so it gets crowded fast when it's busy but it's clean and modern. Food: I would recommend skipping the boneless chicken unless you like hard and salty chicken.. that reminds me of the ones you can get a Buffalo wild wings. Service: Pretty spot on for being busy, the waitress came to our table a few times to check up on us and to fill our waters. The only reason I am giving this place a 3 stars because the bone in chicken is really tasty, meat is super moist and flavor is good for the non spicy version. I don't like the spicy ones, it's not a tasty kind of spicy, just a tongue burning kind that isn't pleasant.

Yelp
If you want really good.....CRONCHY.....SAUCY....fried chicken....you need to go to Bonchon. I ordered a large portion of the 30 piece wings with the spicy sauce and after that first CRONCHY bite my soul ascended to fried chicken heaven. The spicy sauce has a perfect amount of flavor to spice ratio and tastes different on boneless chicken compared to bone in chicken. Even though I ordered the wings for take out, the chicken didn't suffer the sad and unfortunate death that most fried chicken do when the container generates enormous amounts of condensation and makes the chicken soggy. The Bonchon fried chicken stayed crisp despite the MOISTURE. The Uptown location is consistent with their chicken and the flavoring as the other locations I've had in New York and Washington D.C. Just a little disclaimer, since the location opened relatively recently, avoid going on the weekends since the line will be GHASTLY and waiting to pay your bill will be equally painful. However, if you go on the weekdays the wait isn't too bad and service is pretty decent before dinner hours. 10/10 would order again

Yelp
We may have accidentally crashed their soft opening... With that being said, the food and service were great! It was really between 4 and 5 stars, but I want to give them the benefit of the doubt since they're brand new. We ordered the shrimp shumai, which was great (our favorite item). I had the pork buns, which has an amazing spicy mayo sauce but could have been served at a warmer temperature. The japchae was excellent but slightly on the salty side. Overall, we enjoyed it and will definitely go back.

Yelp
The place looks very modern. The food was definitely Asian fusion and more accustomed to American trends. I came here instead of my alternative Korean restaurant looking for some good Korean fried chicken. Found them! Sweet and spicy and perfectly cooked fried chicken! They were simply delicious! -- however, everything else was plain and no flavor. I was looking for the flavor bomb that Korean cooking has in MN. No flavor found here besides their wings, move on!

Yelp
The original KFC! KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN!! I've always heard of this place in other states and always wanted to try it. So when I heard MN finally got their first establishment, I had to go! Went during their soft opening and boy was it crowded. That was a given though, so I wasn't that upset I had to wait. Plus, I didn't even have to wait long. They sat me party of two with another group since their group didn't take up the entire table. We didn't mind. Atmosphere was modern. Size of the place was somewhat small, but that could be because it was so crowded. Food wise, it was great! The chicken was everything ai expected it to be. Super crispy on the outside and so juicy on the inside. I ordered the combo which gave us both of the flavor options available for the chicken. Soy Garlic and Spicy. My fave? SPICY! Soy garlic was too tangy and salty to my liking. Spicy was perfect, especially when it is paired with the cubed pickled radish. We also ordered their seasoned fries which were extra crispy and flavorful. Then we had their Salmon Avocado Ball. Tasted like a sushi dish to me. Shredded crab meat and cucumbers in a mayo like sauce inside some avocado slices topped off with seared salmon meat. Yummy! We also got the Chicken Fried Rice. Nothing spectacular about it. But it was still good. Overall, I really enjoyed the chicken. I definitely will be making another trip to this place once the hype dies down. Parking is also a hassle.

Yelp
Hallelujah! Finally a Korean fried chicken joint in Minnesota. No more traveling out of state to satisfy my cravings! Bonchon is best known for their fried chicken (obviously). Get the bone-in drumsticks and I promise you they are the juiciest and meatiest drumstick you'll ever have. That crunch of the skin makes some good ASMR material. We ordered the spicy and soy garlic half and half. I liked them both but prefer the spicy because it's got the strong gochujang taste. We also ordered the chicken tacos and chicken Katsu which were just okay. Chicken tacos had good flavors but not enough meat. Chicken katsu was a bit dry in my opinion. I'll probably stick with the bone-in fried chicken from now on.

Yelp
This place is so good! I've been here twice now and each time I was seated right away and the servers are attentive and friendly. If it's your first time, you definitely have to order the fried chicken, bone in. Both the soy garlic and spicy flavor are equally good! I also ordered the plain house fried rice, it looks/seems underwhelming but it's actually packed with lots of flavor. Definitely would order that again. Another favorite is the spicy rice cakes with cheese. Has a good combination of spice, savory and sweet. The salmon avocado ball is delicious too, it tastes exactly like a salmon sushi roll minus the rice. Only thing I wouldn't recommend is the takoyaki (fried octopus balls) - it's tasteless and barely has any filling. Overall, clean interior/bathroom. Very modern decor. Great service and good food. Street parking & parking ramp nearby!

Yelp
Oh. My. Goodness. The wings at this place are amazing! I've never had Korean Fried Chicken before so I have no comparison, but for wings standard, this one will be hard to beat! We ordered the small size order of wings which comes with 6 drums and 3 wings, then did the half soy garlic sauce and half spicy sauce. I'm a total wimp when it comes to spicy, but the spicy wings here were perfect! A little kick, but you can still enjoy the flavor and wing itself! Soy garlic was also delicious, nice and savory which paired well with the spicy. Sauces aside, what makes these wings so good is the perfect crunch with every bite and the SIZE of these wings! The breading didn't give the illusion of a large wing, there was PLENTY of meat with every bite! The order of wings also came with pickled daikon which paired well with everything and made for a great palette cleanser. We also ordered the Takoyaki (comes with 6) and the pork buns (comes with 3). The Takoyaki were good, bigger and better than most places I've tried, but not something I would rave about to get. Same goes for the pork buns. They were delicious with a generous portion of pork, and a yummy salad on top which made for a great dish, but not something I would insist that anyone get. Overall, with the 3 dishes and the pickled daikon, we were both sufficiently full and happy with this meal. Service was meh, but considering it was the second night of their soft opening, they handled the chaos pretty well! We will definitely be coming back and will probably try some other menu options, but we will 100% be ordering the wings again!
