The Best Restaurants In Lincoln Park

"Bonci serves Roman-style pizza “al taglio,” meaning cut (with scissors) when you order and sold by weight at the counter. The crust is airy and thick like focaccia, and the pizza doesn’t have very much sauce so the toppings are the focus. There are around 12 rotating varieties, and you’ll see combinations like potato with rosemary, mushroom and sausage, and ‘nduja with ricotta. Even if it sounds strange, it works. And compared to the one in the West Loop, this location is much bigger and has a large side patio." - sam faye, adrian kane, john ringor, veda kilaru

The Newest Restaurants In Chicago

"The original Bonci is in the West Loop (well, technically Rome), but they just opened another location in Lakeview. The counter-service pizzeria serves Roman-style pizza that’s cut with scissors when you order and sold by weight. There’s a variety of options, and toppings change regularly." - john ringor, veda kilaru, nick allen

Been wanting to try this for a while and finally found myself in the area. There was about 10 options to choose from but the arrabbiata and sausage & mushroom were calling my name. The arrabbiata had a good level of spice but lacked flavor elsewhere. It also was vegan but I couldn’t tell. The sausage & mushroom had a flavorful sausage but lacked in quantity of toppings. The third one I got was the potato which was their most popular. Never had something like this but it was my favorite. The potato was good and unsurprisingly paired very well with the cheese. All three pizzas had a nice focaccia like edge which was light and airy but had a more thin inner crust which wasn’t nearly as good. Not the biggest fan of what I got but with plenty of options, I’m sure I will be back here again.

Recommend: little joined serving pizza by weight exactly as in Italy. Tried different types and all tasted good as I think we tasted in Italy just last year. Just pick what you'd prefer better and you'll like it more. I did think it was a bit on pricier side, for what it is, essentially it boiled down to me feeling like I had rewarmed pizza for $30, enjoyed it but I think price point could have been a tad lower.

Delicious and fun pizza! So glad this is in the neighborhood. This is an easy grab and go spot, I wouldn’t recommend sitting in since there are only two tiny tables in a small space. They have fun flavors and are quick with service. I tried the blueberry sausage pizza which was AMAZING, and the sun dried tomato pizza which was good but not spectacular. I will be back!

Delicious, crisp, flavorful pizza by the slice. I’ve been to the original location in Rome and feel this is quite true to the original. I’m so happy to have this right by my house! The supplì rice balls are awesome too. On thiss trip I tried the lemon ricotta, spicy eggplant and margarita. I’ll be back for more very soon!

Went here for the first time for Dine Out on Broadway and will definitely be returning. It’s like an ice cream shop for pizza! You choice your pizza type (or multiple types) and his big of a slice you want then pay by weight. I liked his the cut up the pizza into smaller squares too. I got a chicken pizza, potato, and salmon. I can’t wait to try all of the variety. Welcome to Lakeview!

Great pizza! Ordered by asking for a custom length of pizza, priced by weight. Reasonable enough price, though it's easy to get more than you might actually want/need as there's no standard size. Fantastic crust, great toppings too. My favorite is the vegan mushroom!

Pizza is insanely overpriced. And the store is literally set up to scam you as to prices with no prices listed anywhere--and then staff lie about pricing. The server estimated the cost for a slice as $6. Then she rang up my single, medium-sized slice of mushroom and (dried up) sausage, and the price was just below $11! For one second rate slice! Total scam and very mediocre quality for the exorbitantly high price. Will never return. Not sure why Lakeview area of Chicago has almost no reasonably priced pizza places.
