The Latest New Orleans Restaurant and Bar Closings of 2020 - Eater New Orleans

"The third U.S. location of Italy’s acclaimed Bonci Pizza, which opened to fanfare last July in New Orleans’s Warehouse District, has closed permanently. Bonci served Roman-style pizza al taglio, which means “by the cut.” Bonci made its American debut in Chicago three years ago, kicking off an U.S. expansion of the pizza empire built by Gabriele Bonci in Rome. The original Bonci opened his first shop, Pizzarium, near the Vatican museum’s entrance in 2003, and it became an internationally recognized destination, gaining Anthony Bourdain as a fan. The team behind the American expansion is a separate company; the Chicago locations remain open." - Clair Lorell

Savory and cheesy goodness. Pillowy crusts with a delicate crunch on the bottom. Lots of different toppings and quality cheeses; we tried a bunch and liked them all. We'll definitely return. This a place that evokes cravings. P.S. if you normally order your pizza with extra sauce you may have trouble here, it's very traditional Roman pie.

Delicious new Roman style ‘street food’ pizza. Every slice was amazing. My favorite was the smoked salmon. They had about a dozen options. The joint is clean, friendly professional staff, great beer and wine offerings and nice prices. Bonus you can watch the parade from the window. We wouldn’t hesitate to return. Some of the best pizza I’ve ever had in NoLa!

Fast casual service, friendly and helpful staff, lots of choices of different types of pizza and I had the option to get as much or as little as I wanted. Decided to try 3 different types... Meatball, prosciutto and soppressata. Soppressata was by far the best one I had. It was a little loud when trying to visit with 4 people at my table, but the pizza was good and it was a good value for the area.

My favorite new pizza spot in New Orleans. The crust is crispy, the toppings are fresh and high quality, and the flavor is fantastic. One of the few restaurants that truly earns a five star review for both service and exceptional food.

Haven't had pizza like this since I lived in Italy! I love it. 15 or more types to pick from, which is amazing. PERFECT crispy crust and quality toppings.

Had great expectations going here for the first time. But....Reheating pizza that’s been already made and sitting there? What’s fresh about that? Any pizzeria does that. Cutting with scissors supposed to be the gimmick? I don’t get it. Seems like a tourist trap in Rome has made its way over. The pizza I had was flavorless. I’ll give it another try next month to see if at least the culinary aspect has improved. The space is clean is about the only nice thing I can say. Ordering was a nightmare with the double ticket system.

I wasn't sure what to expect with Bonci, but I was pleasantly surprised-the pizza is super tasty, and the options and method of service differentiate it well from some of the top spots in the city. I enjoy the by the pound ordering, since portions in the US are usually huge, and you get a small piece of something you want to try. Sure, the ordering was a little confused, but I went on opening day and I'm sure they'll sort it out. Everyone was hospitable and excited to be there, and I enjoyed myself. I'll be back.

Very cool concept. You pick from an assortment of "flatbreads" already made. They heat in an oven. Sold by the weight so you choose the size and amount you want (allowing you to try a wide variety). Clean. High quality. Definitely worth a visit. Not really pizza but a flatbread with flour from Italy. Great crust.
