Finally got to try this joint and it didn’t disappoint! Loved how crunchy the bagels were on the outside while maintaining a fluffy, moist chew on the inside. We were lucky to snatch one of the bagel dogs before they sold out and we think we found the gold standard for how all bagel dogs should be…we will be back!!

D E L I C I O U S. For the purists; the bagels are on the chewy side, and the sour stands out. But if you’re willing to try something creative this doesn’t disappoint. The warm everything bagel has a kick to it that is so good. The sandwich toppings were perfect. And even the cold brew hit. A welcome addition to the neighborhood.

We ordered the sourdough cookie and the salmon bagel on an everything bagel. The menu is very simple, which I appreciate—especially for a new spot that’s still refining and perfecting their food. The cookie had a distinct sourdough texture—crumbly, not too hard, not too soft. It reminded me of biting into a slice of sourdough bread, which was unexpected but interesting. Now, the bagel—the main event. First bite had a nice crisp exterior with a spongey, chewy center. The toppings—olive oil, red onions, and cucumber—were fresh and well-balanced on the sandwich. That said, they accidentally gave me a veggie sandwich instead of the salmon, but it wasn’t a big deal. Overall, not the best bagel I’ve ever had in SF. HOWEVER, because of its incredibly convenient location, I’d still rank it in my top 5 bagel spots in the city. Worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Google
went for opening day and so excited to go back! the bagels were light and airy on the inside, crispy on the outside just like a good loaf of sourdough. friendly service, the lemony pickled onions, and drizzle of olive oil made it 10/10. take it to Noe Valley Playground and eat it in the sunshine!

Delicious bagel option! Crunchy when toasted. Not thick but still filling. It has that sourdough kick to it where it could taste spicy to you. Great prices too - $5 for toasted bagel with cream cheese or $3 for loose bagel. Fair warning * especially in the early days of opening * don’t expect it to be a quick grab and go spot. We stood in line for 20mins then waited another 20mins after ordering to receive two bagels toasted with cream cheese. The staff are super friendly and have a complete no-rush, laid-back vibe of ordering, preparing and handing off. Nevertheless, we will be back!!

New favorite Noe Valley haunt! We got the veggie sandwich on Asiago black pepper and everything bagels and they were DELICIOUS! Bagels satisfy that sourdough chewiness craving while brightening it up with gorgeous seasonal veggies. The chocolate chip cookie has generous chocolate chips, lots of butter and right balance of chew. Paired well with Four Barrel drip. Already plotting our return!

Wow! The bagels here are outstanding, reminiscent of what you can find in New York. Plus the decor and style are cool too, very unique. Check it out!

Yelp
Was so happy to see this new spot pop up in Noe, being the bagel fan I am. It definitely did not disappoint! I was there on a Friday morning and there were only a couple people in line, I was in and out within 15 mins which was great. I've tried many veggie bagels in my days and this was one was very good! I loved how fresh the ingredients were and the bagel was the perfect consistency, toasty on the outside and chewy on the inside.

Yelp
Got the lox bagel on sesame and thought it was solid. The sourdough flavor of the bagel was great, but I thought the bagel was too chewy and the lox was a little stringy--not the best I've had. Not sure I'll be back since it's out of the way for me, but if I were to I'd probably stick to ordering the bagel and cream cheese (they use Gina Marie cream cheese!) and skip the specials. They also allow dogs inside which can be fine, but at the time I was ordering/picking up my order there was a dog jumping up with paws on the order counter right next to my bagel...super unsanitary in my opinion. More on the dog owner than the restaurant, but worth noting (cashier did nothing).

Yelp
Went Friday around 1130. There were only couple of other customers. Service was friendly. Everything was easy. I got the lox bagel. Came in about 2 minutes (maybe they were too stoned for the opening weekend rush?). I really liked it. The sourdough does give the bagel a little extra flavor, nothing powerful, but noticeable. I thought it was constructed very well. Often times the cucumber to salmon to cream cheese balance makes it so everything slides off the bagel when you bite into it but not here. I also really liked that they used pickled onions. I love red onions but using pickled ones made the flavor a little different than the standard lox bagel. As far as the tough to chew that many others wrote about, it's true but I found if I took smaller bites it was ok. The outer edge of the bagel is the chewiest. When biting the center it was a perfect chew. Maybe they boil too long? Maybe it's because of the sourdough? Either way, I found it to be easily remedied.

Yelp
You know something is bomb when you end up wearing part of it. I promised myself to wait until getting home to try Bones Bagels but these bad bois were fresh out of the oven and hot. I tore into one in the car and ended up with sesame seeds all over my lap, face, and car. Oops! I know some people are serious when it comes to bagels and will take off their Patagonia jacket to throw down on defending the "best". I can't say what's the "best" bagel because I'm a city girl not a New Yorker but I will say, I really enjoyed Bones Bagels...because SOURDOUGH. Grand opening 6/13/25 in Noe, Bones Bagels started out as pop-up from the owner's apartment. I read he milled his own grains with a stationary bike AND delivered all the bagels himself throughout the city...on bike. If you know the city, the hills are no joke! L I N E I overheard the first person in line arrived at 7:30 am. I arrived about 10 minutes before opening and was 5th in line. By their 8 am opening, I counted about 45-50 people in line. M E N U Bagels: Plain, everything, and sesame ($3 each), Bagel Dogs ($6, after 11 am), Bagel Sandwiches ($10-$16), and Housemade Cream Cheese (8 oz - $6). Coffee and OJ available. Bialys to come. F O O D * Bagels: 2 Everything and 3 Sesame ($3 each) Fresh out of the oven, the sesame bagel had the most satisfying crackly crust with a chewy, stretchy dense center and nice tang. The sesame seeds don't adhere to the bagel well so they ended up everywhere. I bought the everything bagels to give to a friend. I noticed the bottom and some of the edges were burnt, possibly caused by the rack position? * Sourdough Chocolate Chip Cookie ($3) Slightly crisp edges, thick center studded with auburn color chocolate chips. Wish the dough was tangier to balance the sweet chocolate. * Plain Cream Cheese (Tub-$8) I appreciate the housemade cream cheese and I liked the mild sour flavor but the texture wasn't my jam. It was dry and curdled, low-key reminds of Daily Driver's cream cheese. Not sure if it's kinks or just their style. S E R V I C E Fast and efficient if just ordering loose bagels. A M B I A N C E Rustic with a merch wall and three benches (one inside and two outside). P A R K I N G Difficult residential street parking. Overall, as a big back sourdough lover, I really enjoyed Bones Bagels' texture and flavor. Will def return soon for their bagel dogs made with a hot link!

Yelp
San Francisco is known for a few food items worldwide. One of these items is the sourdough bread. The city of San Francisco uses sourdough bread as a friendly wager when professional sports teams from other cities are in the playoffs and finals against San Francisco teams. Boudin comes to mind especially around the tourist traps in San Francisco . Although New York is known for best bagels I had there is a new place in San Francisco's Noe Valley with a different spin to sourdough and it's a bagel. Bare Bones offers sourdough bagels which is a great combination. Tasty and a bit crunchy but the cheese spread makes it very delicious. It's a different kind of bagel but in a good way. From apartment to pop- ups Bare Bones found a new home in a brick and mortar in Noe Valley no bones about it. Go to this new hidden gem in San Francisco on 741 Diamond. Not all sourdough is the same so don't be mislead especially when comes to San Francisco sourdough bread Expect on weekends long lines ahead but it's all worth it the bagel and sourdough with a cream cheese spread

Yelp
aesthetic: 4/5 food: 2.5/5 service: 2.5/5 decided to try out this bagel spot after seeing a weekend crowd in front of the store, and my experience fell short of my expectations. my family and i ordered 3 bagel sandwiches (2 salmon and 1 vegan), as well as a strawberry almond scone for them to try. we waited about 20 minutes, which was reasonable given the length of their 9:30am saturday morning line. while this place specialises in sourdough bagels, the real star of the menu is the scone. my family couldn't stop eating the scone and they said they'd order a boxfull of them to enjoy through the week. for the bagels, they are pretty tough to chew (not sure if this a sourdough bagel characteristic) and the cashew spread is very minimal, causing the vegetable toppings to easily fall off. i usually love a huge dollop of cream cheese, so bones may be the spot for you if you prefer a lightly-spreaded bagel. despite the adorable interior, bones isn't worth the wait - there is no seating so would recommend taking a stroll down 24th to kill time or find a seat to eat your takeout style order.

Yelp
i couldn't get up by 8am for the grand opening so my partner got bagels and brought them home lol. judging by the fact that it took about 2 hours, seems like there were a lot of people in line! the everything bagels had a LOT of seeds on them, which i liked. they had a super crispy crust and were more like Montreal style bagels (thinner and less soft than NYC style), so it's hard to compare them to popular places like Boichik, Schlok's, etc. the texture was very satisfying so my main complaint was i felt they could use a touch more salt and sourdough flavor. the salmon sandwich was served open-faced, with a decent amount of cream cheese, lox, thinly sliced cucumber, and pickled onion. every ingredient tasted super fresh, and the lox especially wasn't too salty or fishy at all. i tried all of their cream cheese flavors (plain, chili, and chive) and wasn't a huge fan of any of them because the texture was oddly crumbly instead of creamy. my favorite was the chive; the chili one was barely spicy at all. hoping they add more sandwich options and bagel flavors because i would definitely come back if i'm craving an artisanal bagel experience!

Yelp
I went a day after their grand opening and was excited to see what the hype was about. Got there around 9am on a Saturday and I waited in line for about 20 min to order and then got my bagels pretty quickly after. I got the everything bagel with chives cream cheese and my boyfriend got the sesame bagel with chili oil cream cheese. These bagels are much thinner than your regular bagels and honestly both of our jaws hurt from eating it because they were pretty tough. I did ask for them to be toasted so maybe that's why but it didn't really stand out to me. I've never had sourdough bagels before and that seems to be the big thing about this place. Don't think I'll wait in line for these again but it was good to try once.

Yelp
These are the best bagels I have ever had. The people that work there are super kind and everything is always so fresh.

Yelp
Everything was awesome and Delicious! The owner Noah was super nice and offered to help my disabled grandfather across the street which he did! An outstanding addition to the neighborhood I highly recommend it!

Yelp
I love Bones Bagels! This new local business has brought energy to this adorable corner of Diamond Street. The bagels are delicious with a nice sourdough chew, and the everything bagel is tasty, with lots of seeds and a little spice. I especially like the salmon sandwich with cream cheese. Service is terrific. Definitely would come back!

Yelp
I think my expectations were too high.. the bagels, while satisfyingly chewy completely lack flavor. I got the lox sandwich- it was tasty, but only thanks to the myriad of ingredients piled atop the otherwise cardboard-flavored bagel. I really really wanted to like this place and came back a 2nd time, only to be even more let down (I got a sesame seed bagel with cream cheese).. no flavor. Sticking to good old Noe Bagels or Boichik - you actually get flavor and a lower $$ point.

Yelp
The bagels were very tasty and chewy. It didn't taste like a typical bagel, definitely worth trying out. The line was long but, moved relatively quickly. There is no indoor or outdoor seating.

Yelp
Living in NY and coming back to SF, it was hard to find a good bagel. However, I went to try Bones Bagels and it was great! It's not your average fluffy bagel but instead it's a thin, sourdough one. It was delicious and it didn't have a lot of excess dough in the middle and more of a low-carb bagel. Definitely go try it!

Yelp
Loving these bagels, especially the salmon sandwich. I am a sourdough addict, so I love these chewy, fresh, perfectly crispy bagels. It's a perfect addition to Noe valley!

Yelp
This place was excruciatingly slow, and felt like that's by design. It took over 30 minutes to get a bagel sandwich (*after* ordering). There were 4 staff there and wasn't clear what they all were doing. And the bagels were just sitting on a rack so not like it's being baked fresh for you - just need to slice and spread some cream cheese - how can that take so long?? And it didn't feel like they were even trying to make it go faster, just part of their process / vibe. Which is fine if you want to take 2 hours to have a bagel lunch, but who has time for that!

Yelp
Delicious bagel dog, plain bagel, and everything bagel! Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, yummy! They ran out of cream cheese, but we didn't care...it was just nice to see the store open again with lots of happy people. Welcome to Noe Valley!

Nico R.

Yelp
Blonde teenager guy was really cute! Plus the food was SOO GOOOD . ALSO Good portions! Would totally go again.
