Yelp
I was looking somewhere to have lunch at and it's so weird because I looked through three pages on Yelp and not once did it mention that Bonjour Bakery & Patisserie was near me! Luckily, I was looking at a different spot and saw on the map that this patisserie was literally down the street! It's been on my list ever since they opened their physical location. The interior was so lovely. The tables were minimally decorated with fall colored flowers and a neutral colored vase. They played instrumental music so conversations could take the lead in here. I seemed to come at a great time since most of their pastries were 50% off!
I tried the:
- SUN-DRIED TOMATO + SPINACH + FETA DANISH (originally $7.50, paid $3.75) I think $3.75 is more of a fitting price for these danishes since they were palm size! This combination was my absolute favorite. If they had more, I would have ordered 2! The lady working there heated it up for me perfectly. I liked how the spinach wasn't super watery nor was it super dried out! The flavors worked really well together. 5/5.
- POTATO + RACLETTE + CORNICHON DANISH! This was originally $8, but I got it for $4.00. I first saw this on Instagram, I loved the format of the video and their process of baking this. When I saw it on the counter today, it looked a little lackluster because the cornichons didn't have their vibrant color to them. They looked as though they were baked in the oven because it was shriveled a bit. This Danish felt more dry overall. I did like the flavor combination: potato and cheese, works well together. I wish the cornichons still had their vibrant crunch and vinegary oomph to them! The danish desperately needed that lift! 3/5.
Nearing 3pm there were more people coming in! I noticed many people ordering the filled croissants and enjoying it so I figured I'd order some too to bring home. (And they are 50% off! So why not?). And while I was thinking they were running out of items, the worker went to the back and brought out more (restocked!!). What I liked a lot about this patisserie was that they had these stationary fans going in a fast motion above the pastries on the counter to eliminate flies from landing on or near them.
I went back up to order: APPLE PIE FILLED CROISSANT! (Originally $10, but I paid $5!! What a steal-- that 50% came in clutch...this price is cheaper than what you'll pay for at other bakeries where a filled croissant will usually range between $7-9) I believe they had seasonal filled croissants, so the choice was between pumpkin and apple. Of course, we know, I strongly dislike pumpkin-- so I went with the apple and I am so glad that I did. Because oh my god... this was the best filled croissant I've EVER had!! Other places overfill to the brim -- to the point that the croissant will weigh 5 pounds in their hand and the beautiful croissant layers will no longer exist-- just becoming a dense brick. Ok, but not at Bonjour Bakery & Patisserie!! This apple pie croissant is filled with perfect precision, not too much. It's not too sweet and there was a nice tart apple purée inside as well. The cream looked as though it was just vanilla bean, but when you tasted it...it was reminiscent of having a bite of apple pie! You get the apple, the warm spices, the vanilla bean.. it is so delicious. You can even see the soft flaky layers on the interior of the croissant. There was a lovely exterior flake as well. No rating needed, just order this before it's gone!!
In addition, the lady working there gave me a free vanilla + hazelnut rolled croissant. She said it's one that she really enjoys. My brother said the presentation of it looked incredible. It has a beautiful and even golden color to it. Perfectly round and you can see a BUNCH of layers! It is partially dipped in a white chocolate glaze with some toasted tiny bits of hazelnut. I can't exactly put my finger on what it is! There's vanilla bean cream as well as some hazelnut... I'm not sure if I'm tasting chocolate or imagining it. It's pretty good, but a tad too sweet for me. I think this would pair well with a hot latte or cappuccino! 4/5.
I highly recommend coming by here in the morning or afternoon for some delicious pastries! They have a good array of savory & sweet items and even coffee. You can ask to have it "for here" and you'll get served with real silverware and plates/cups! They DO accept cash or card! And they have a little water cup station if you're thirsty, but what they don't have is a restroom. This is a nice spot to come solo, on a date, with friends, or family! I was very happy with my time here at Bonjour Bakery & Patisserie and I hope that you'll enjoy it too!
