"The porridge at Bon Juk is always made to order and boasts a silky texture. The abalone porridge is subtle, the kimchi-octopus porridge is vibrant, and the oyster and mushroom porridge is expectedly earthy. Porridges fortified with pumpkin and vegetables are ideal for vegetarian diners. The cleanly decorated, casual interior makes for a pleasant dine-in experience, although the porridge also holds up to go." - Cathy Chaplin, Eater Staff

"Rice is an art in Korea - it’s not just about how you steam it, but how you manipulate it after it’s cooked. Rolling it into gim, or dried seaweed, is one thing, and pounding it into dduk, or rice cakes, is another. But my favorite way to eat rice is in juk, or porridge. But lest you get away with thinking you can just skip Bonjuk, a famous Seoul juk chain, know this: Koreans put everything in porridge. Kimchi, oyster mushrooms, tuna, veggies, chicken and ginseng, abalone, black sesame, red bean… nothing is forbidden. And when the rice here is perfectly cooked, but not overcooked, I get the same sensation I get from a perfect risotto, that just right. The spicy octopus dolsot (stone bowl) bibimbap is really nice here too, but honestly, it’s an afterthought to that juk." - dakota kim

The ingredients in every dish were incredibly fresh, making each bite truly enjoyable. The Abalone and Chicken Porridge was especially delightful—rich, flavorful, and so comforting. The Bibimbap was perfectly balanced, with each component adding to the overall deliciousness. I also tried their Red Bean and Green Bean drinks, which were refreshing and just the right amount of sweetness. Highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic and high-quality Korean food!

One of the healthiest and delicious porridge I had in a while, been eating too much unhealthy diet but this porridge healed everything. A must order of pumpkin stew porridge is the smoothest and best tasting porridge u will ever taste, must order. This place offers pick up and fast service and in door. Loved the vibe and the taste of this restaurant. With bibimbap on restaurant name, I almost ordered bibimbap and it was not disappointed, one of the best in town. They all come with small sides that are refillable. Will definitely come back!

Visited Bonjuk and Bibimbap in Rowland Heights today and tried their signature Beef Bibimbapand Abalone Porridge. The bibimbap was sizzling hot with crispy rice, tender beef, and fresh veggies—paired with kimchi, tofu, and miso soup, super satisfying. The abalone porridge was smooth, light, and comforting. Don’t miss their refreshing Pumpkin Juice and Mung Bean Juice. Great spot for a healthy, hearty meal!

Google
Wow, Bonjuk and Bibimbap is awesome! My only regret is not knowing about this place sooner. I can see why it’s one of the most popular chains from Korea. The restaurant was clean and modern looking inside, and the food was phenomenal. It was a healthy, lighter option compared to some other spots in the area. Our server was also super nice. We ordered the mushroom + bulgogi bibimbap and seafood pancake. Both were absolutely delicious, and I look forward to coming back again soon. The chicken ginseng soup was also very healing and tasty! There was some dates, rice and green beans in it which was a nice touch.

Google
Honestly, this is one of the best bibimbaps I’ve had in a long while. You’ll definitely see me here again soon!

Google
I love porridge and the ones they offer here not only with variety but also taste amazing (ingredients are cut into small pieces not chunky and look very fresh). Service is not very fast but still good (only one person outside the kitchen). Tables and the restaurant itself are clean. I like they spread the tables with enough distance in between so you dont feel crowded. Highly recommended

The food is very good, the place is nice and clean. The service is very good but you need to ge more help if your traffic is so high.

During this rare cold winter in SoCal (low 40°F), we were craving for some hot tasty porridge and found this famous Seoul-base chain store that offers traditional healthy Korean dishes. There were more than 15 different types of porridge and bibimbaps (x10) to choose from. Price is fairly reasonable (a bit less than $20/ea). At last we choose the abalone porridge, beef/Mushroom porridge and Mushroom/bulgogi bibimbap. Everything tastes A+.

Yelp
I've always wanted to eat this! There are small balls inside! The taste is very delicate! Like pumpkin paste! Very healthy! Can be used as a dessert after a meal! Perfect

Yelp
FLAVORFUL RICE PORRIDGE TO GO I usually order to-go. Call in 15 minutes early it takes a few minutes to cook. The man was nice and threw in a free soda. Korean rice porridge is way better than Chinese/Japanese. It's not watered down, it's full of veggies and meats and flavored deliciously not bland. Great if you're sick, post dentist appointment, for babies etc.

Alex H.

Yelp
There is seriously a reason this place is a chain. It's SO GOOD! You might think - who wants to pay to eat porridge, well it's so delicious. I always order the abalone here for my mom, when her stomach is upset and on Winter days, it's so good. She loves it. Make your Asian mom proud. She'll definitely finish all her porridge, all while complaining about the price but secretly loving it xD

Yelp
I recently visited Bonjuk and Bibimbap and ordered the chicken ginseng porridge and a bowl of bibimbap. Unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming. The chicken ginseng porridge didn't live up to its name--there was no hint of ginseng in taste or sight. Honestly, it might as well have been called plain chicken porridge. On top of that, it had a lot of chopped chicken skin, which was off-putting. As for the bibimbap, we tried it in a bowl instead of the usual stone plate. It was decent, but nothing extraordinary. The side dishes were served in very small portions, and no one offered to refill them. In fact, the service was nonexistent--they didn't check on us or ask how our food was. Overall, the food and service didn't leave a lasting impression

Yelp
My family and I was seeking a new place to try and came across Bonjuk. It's in corner of a complex building, so there's plenty of parking. The inside is on the smaller side and had a very modern look with a very simple menu. Nothing fancy. To my understanding, this is a chain in Korea, that leans more on the healthy side. They specialize in porridge, bibimbaps , and a few stews. With that, I went with the Mushroom & Bulgogi Bibimbap in a stone pot. I liked the presentation of the set. Makes it feel like lunch combo, perfect sized meal for a person. The main dish and sides overall tasted good. It's an okay spot, in my opinion.

Melina C.

Yelp
We ordered four items: Seafood and green onion pancakes: really good! Not oily, love the seafood pieces inside. The pancake was a good thickness too, so there was more bite than other pancakes served at other Korean places. Royal tteokbokki: this was light and I'm really happy about it. I was a bit afraid cause it was soy sauce flavor but it had a good amount of flavor, not too much. The rice cakes were chewy and the fungus was a nice touch as well. Mushroom and bulgogi Bibimbap: this was good! Something light! Beef and mushroom porridge: I really liked this one too! The porridge had a hint of sweetness in each bite. The mushroom flavor wasn't very strong. The beef was good too. The rice used in the porridge was a good texture too. I liked how Korean porridge is so different from Chinese porridge yet still so comforting in its own way. Side dishes: I really liked the potato salad and the spicy fish cakes. Overall, really liked this place and good service too. The music they played was a nice touch, with old classic music. Will stop by again soon!!

Jessica Y.

Yelp
The restaurant is located inside a plaza with large parking lot. Came for lunch and it was easy to find a parking spot. We entered and were promptly seated. We tried the chicken ginseng porridge, mushroom bulgogi hot stone bibimbap and galbi. Dishes came out with side dishes. The food tasted good. So many choices of flavors. Stayed and chatted with a few friends and they didn't rush us. Good food. Good service. They don't really check on you but do come when you call.

Yelp
Ambiance - It's simple, basic, and clean. Nothing much going on inside and since it's a small place, there's not many places to sit. I wouldn't recommend bringing a group larger than 6. That's about the max they could really take and only for one party. When we were there, there were about 4 other tables that sat 4 (three of which are partial booth seats). One other table that sat two. Service - Bare minimum. We weren't really checked on during our time there. I raised my arm at one point, to order the pumpkin porridge, and caught the attention of one of the workers but they didn't come over?? They just saw me, looked down, and continued doing something else. I thought they'd come over after but they didn't and just returned to standing in front of the register. Food - Their saying on the wall is pretty true to word. "Slow-cooked." It takes a little longer than you would think for the food to come out. However, this is not a con for me unless it's unreasonably long. We prefer, if anything, for food to take a little longer and be prepared carefully. Bibimbap is a magical dish and I highly recommend it to everyone. There are two versions! The regular is refreshing and can help fill you up without making you sweat to bits in the summer. If you love hot food, Dolsot Bibimbap is your dish. It's comforting and hot! I got the soft tofu bibimbap. The sauce they gave me along with it was sweet and savory. There was sesame oil with it so it was fragrant as well. All the ingredients tasted really fresh and clean. I stole my mom's bon bibimbap sauce to add even more flavor :) I think it would've been better if they cut the soft tofu into cubes to make mixing easier but it's not a big deal. Japchae - Unfortunately, I couldn't eat this! I didn't know it would be made with beef since their menu gives no indication nor does it have a description. I guess I'm just too used to other places not having beef with it. Sweet Pumpkin Porridge - So good! Not too sweet and had chewy mochi type of balls inside. This is an awesome end to the meal that left our stomachs happy. Overall, very high quality food. You don't feel yucky after eating it. I would definitely come back for a savory bowl of porridge next time or the dolsot bibimbap.

Yelp
Visited Bonjuk and Bibimbap for the first time a few days ago with my sister. The establishment tucked in the plaza where Big Lots used to be. There is plenty of parking in the plaza. The establishment is small and extremely understaffed. There is only one person who is in charge of the front (greeting customers, taking orders, assisting customers who order takeout and bringing out the food); hence the service being on the slow side. After being seated, we waited over 45 mins for our food to arrive to our table. Their menu offers a large variety of porridge, regular bibimbap and bibimbap in hot stone and stews. I ordered the seafood porridge and my sister ordered the bibimbap. Each dish comes in a tray with 3 different type of banchan and a cup of iced water. The bibimbap also came with a cup of broth. Both the bibimbap and the porridge were very well seasoned and were very generous with the toppings. Overall, the food was amazing. If the service would have been faster, our experience at Bonjuk and Bibimbap would have been a 5-star experience.

Yelp
This is such an underrated place and I'm surprised that there isn't more people there! They have a wide selection of porridge - I went with the Spicy Oyster Porridge which was so delicious and comforting! I thought they were going to be skimpy with the oyster but there was actually a good amount. I would definitely come back to try other items on the menu.

Chun C.

Yelp
I go to Bonjuk whenever I feel like I need more energy! Great recommendation who suffered from any surgery, cold, virus, struggling with digestion but honestly, it's for anyone. I love their junbok porridge! :)

Suzanne W.

Yelp
Excellent Korean comfort food!!! The bon hot stone bibimbap is vegetarian friendly!! The rice crisped up perfectly in the bowl where it was a bit crunchy but not burnt. The vegetable jok was flavorful and hearty. I'll def be back more often now that the weather is cool. Only downside is they don't serve much ban chan here just some Kim chi, fish cake, and a sweet mac salad.

Yelp
I love the porridge and the bibimbaps here! Super delicious, flavorful, and really tastes healthy and homemade. I came here because my husband wanted the spicy octopus bibimbap dolsot. I personally love porridge so I got a porridge. The bibimbap was unique and delicious. The porridge tasted healthy and was a huge portion. Service here is generally really good. There's usually only one person so if it's busy, it can take a little longer. Plenty of seating, lots of tables. I highly recommend if you're looking for a healthy home cooked meal.

Adithya B.

Yelp
Plenty of parking here at this Korean comfort food restaurant located in Rowland Heights. I started out with the ginseng chicken stew which comes with a small chicken, stuffed with rice with a collagen rich stew which was surprisingly flavorful, nourishing and delicious. I went with another light dish, a tuna and Kimchi bibibap which was also very good and served in a stone pot. The egg was average which was disappointing. Third, I got the octopus and bulgogi Tteokbokki (rice cake) which wasn't too spicy and had a nice sweet after taste. It was very comforting. I also had the rice porridge which was also good but I got full by that time so I got it to go. This is great comfort food, I feel like it'll be a great place for after drinking or if you want Korean food other than kbq. Service is great and the ambiance is cute. I would recommend if you are in Rowland heights.

Kelvin Y.

Yelp
When in Rowland Heights, try something interesting or something novel. The Bimbimbap and Porridge restaurant fits the bill. Delicious well prepared food. Generous portions. Clean. Service was fast, friendly and efficient!

Wai C.

Yelp
Glad to see this chain has come to the US. Had it in Korea and it was pretty good. Porridge here is pretty hearty, but not overly filling. It's a small place, but can get busy. Dinned in a few times, but mainly order to go now. If you're feeling under the weather, and don't want to cook, porridge here is a good default option. Although, they do seem to be missing some flavors, like the seaweed oyster porridge. Not sure why it didn't make it across the pond, but it was one of my favorites.

Jaylene K.

Yelp
a tidy restaurant, quick and kind service, and delicious food can all be found at bonjuk. I love how their dishes are prepared with an emphasis on health. the flavors of our soft tofu bibimbap were simple and refreshing. I particularly enjoyed their unique pumpkin drink and would definitely revisit this establishment just for that.

Mimi L.

Yelp
This Korean place always pops up on our Uber eats app, we finally decided to give it a try for Saturday late dinner delivery. I don't even know where the actual restaurant is. We had seafood green onion pancake, spicy oyster stew and kimchi tuna bibimbab. The packaging was good with enough side dishes and Korean chili paste. The food was flavorful and comforting except the lack of proteins. Very little tuna in my rice, only few pieces of oysters in the stew. Most ingredients were veggies. It was a lot more green onions than seafood in seafood pancake too. Don't think we will order from this place again but it was not bad to give it a try.

Pascale C.

Yelp
Great hot stone bimbimbop for about $18. There was only one server when we got there and it was busy on a Wednesday lunch during the lunch rush hour. It seems to be a popular chain in korea based off their own ad‍.

Peter G.

Yelp
Solid comfort Korean food. I recommend the abalone porridge. The sides it comes with are delicious as well the shredded beef.

Jay C.

Yelp
My first time trying bibimbap and I'm glad it's at this place. Maybe because I came early but I was able to order right away and food came out fast as well. I got the Spicy Octopus Bibimbap to go and it was packaged really well. It came with a side of soup and banchan. Everything was so delicious! The vegetables were crunchy and fresh. The octopus was tender and flavorful. The portion is huge, I think it could have fed two people but I was hungry and it was so tasty, that I finished it all. Even though it was a lot, I feel like the bibimbap is a healthy and nutritious option. I can't wait to come back and try their porridge.

Alejandro F.

Yelp
Very boujee and a bit expensive, but the service was top-notch, the food was delicious and the ambiance is great.

Winn H.

Yelp
TLDR: This is THE go-to place for Korean porridge & even entrees. Although I don't like the jack-of-all trades kind of mindset, this is one place that I would trust. Ordering may take ~ 5 minutes even if dining in during rush hour, since there is only one staff member working, but other than that, expect to enjoy a nice, quick meal here. Note: I saw a review mentioning no bathrooms, but there is a bathroom. - - - - - - I'm so glad there's a Bonjuk in Rowland Heights - much closer to Koreantown or even Korea! I ordered the Samgaetang (chicken & jinseng) again - my love for ginseng is unfaltering, but having come with a +1, I also ordered a seafood and green onion pancake. Part of me is also wondering what I was on during my last visit because this is easily a 5... not a 4. Bonjuk's porridge is nice and thick, and the flavors of chicken and ginseng were a taste to experience. There are a few smatterings of side dishes - enough to enjoy, though I have to argue some hit-miss. Their seafood and green onion pancakes are AMAZING. I was expecting some regular Korean pancakes that I've had at BCD Tofu House or other Korean places, but no... Bonjuk's are miles above those. There is a good mix of seafood, chopped green onions, and the texture is amazing. Above all, service has always been exemplary. I think there is only one person running the front end of the restaurant, and he handles phone orders, serving, and hosting. I couldn't help but leave a generous tip to help support the business; their food and service were outstanding.

Wesley C.

Yelp
The food is phenomenal here. My favorites are are still the mushroom and bulgogi hot stone bowl and seafood pancake. I tried the ginseng chicken soup and it was excellent too. Tasted very healing. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Drove an hour for this specific location & porridge. Different person this time but same amazing food and consistent service throughout this organization.

Qiran Z.

Yelp
This spot is a gem for anyone craving authentic Korean food! The Abalone and Chicken Porridge was incredibly rich and soothing, perfect for a comforting meal. The Bibimbap was packed with fresh, vibrant ingredients, and each bite was full of flavor. I also tried their Red Bean and Green Bean drinks--refreshing, lightly sweet, and the perfect finish to the meal. The quality and freshness of the ingredients really stood out. Highly recommend if you're looking for delicious, well-made Korean dishes!

Angeli P.

Yelp
I've never had Korean porridge before, usually only have it from Chinese or Vietnamese places but I do have to say this place is excellent! The porridge had a nice thick consistency and flavorful throughout. We had gotten take out and even after a 25 minute ride home the meal was still piping hot! It comes with some sides like radish, fish cake, kimchi and I think a side of chili paste. I will definitely come back again and try a new porridge.

Spencer W.

Yelp
It's a takeout place. No bathroom or frequent service with water refills. Food itself is tasty and traditionally priced. However the huge warning against this place is their ordering technology. Yes, it's a QR code where you order online from their website. That's annoying but not uncommon -- however what is egregious is that their website is HTTP - completely insecure and they're asking you to enter your sensitive credit card details and submit via their insecure website to pay.

Eddie C.

Yelp
Food: the Samgae (chicken & ginseng) Porridge was simple in flavor and great with the toppings, while the Kimchi Oyster Porridge was spicy and flavorful; the Mushroom & Bulgogi Stone Bowl Bibimbap was slightly sweet from the bulgogi and had the crunchy/crispy rice that we love from the Stone Bowl versions; the Spicy Seafood Stone Bowl Bibimbap had more of a kick Service: great, timely service with a friendly ahjumma that reminds me of my aunt Design: interiors is simple and clean Overall: if you want really GREAT TASTING and a GREAT VARIETY (savory, sweet & spicy) of jook (porridge) & bibimbab (mixed rice) dishes, then there is no other place to go

Esther J.

Yelp
Love the porridge here. The one in Fullerton closed :( so I'm glad that I can at least come to this location.

Manuel C.

Yelp
A pleasant surprise to find this place in a strip mall In Rowland Heights on Nogales St/Colima Avenue where Big Lots used to be many many years ago. The food is prepared to order. We had seafood porridge, mushroom and bulgogi bibimbap and soft tofu stew with beef, the latter turned out to be our favorite of the three. They all come with three kinds of banchan. Overall it was a good experience and worth another visit. Only one person was manning the in-house and take-out ordering, as cashier and also serving the dishes, so I admire his work and stamina and wish him good luck.

Heather C.

Yelp
The interior of the establishment is characterized by a contemporary and immaculate aesthetic. The culinary offerings are of exceptional quality and provide a delightful gastronomic experience.

John Y.

Yelp
So delicious. Clean and kind staff. Unique drink. It is so good food way over than I expected.

Juyoung J.

Yelp
Love their 죽 here. Perfect for when you're sick! I got it for my picky Korean grandma and she swears it healed her of her pneumonia. Nothing like warm 죽 when you're sick~ I got her the 삼게죽 and she said it was so good- it was the first meal she finished in a week!

Fan H.

Yelp
We love Chinese congees (porridge, rice soup, etc.) and it was a surprise for us to see a specialized Korean congee restaurant called Bonjuk and Bibimbab Cafe in Rowland Heights. After we walked in, we found out it was an oversea Korean chain and we were pretty excited to try the difference. First thing first, the congee at this place was pretty pricey for what it was. After looking through the menu, we decided to go with seafood porridge, mushroom bulgogi stone bowl bibimbap (stirred rice), and japchae (glass noodles). Well, it was pretty darn good. The porridge contained plenty of seafood with a nice shellfish taste to it. The side dishes that came with the porridge were also good and helped changing the flavor with each bite. The bibimbap was tasty as well, but not as good as the japchae. Overall, we had a pretty good meal here. It was light, but fulfilling. Service was friendly as well. We would go back for sure, just not a everyday spot for us.

Erin H.

Yelp
They offer generous food portions and decent side dishes, but the food took awhile to come out even though it wasn't very busy. Maybe it was because we ordered the hot stone bibimbap? I went with a Korean friend and she appreciated how home cooked and healthy the food tasted (I agree!). I've heard great things about their porridge so I'd definitely come again to try that. What we ordered: - Spicy octopus stone bowl bibimbap: 9/10 all the ingredients were well seasoned and/or sauteed, and the octopus was tender and plump

Zhuo L.

Yelp
I just love porridge so much hahaha. We went around 5 PM and there weren't a lot of people in the restaurant. It was just us and 2 other parties, and I loved how calm the restaurant was. What I love about the dishes is the fact that it tastes like a homecooked meal!! Some people's comfort food consists of real greasy, packed meals like burgers, pizza, pasta but my comfort food is soupy, hearty, warm and light meals that make me feel warm inside and not too full. This was the perfect meal for that!! I tried both the porridge (actually I had the porridge in Korea 3 years ago), but this time I went back home and got the soup instead. The best part about the porridge is the banchan, tiny side dishes haha!! They taste so, so good with the porridge because the flavor does get boring when you're constantly tasting the same flavors, but adding a little touch of kimchi, spicy/sweet radish, or other veg makes it so good!!! The soup was great too. It wasn't a wow factor like other Korean restaurants that focus more on the soups (this restaurant, like its name, focuses on bibimbap and porridge), but it was still comforting to eat. I would come here again for a casual and light meal next time!

Kevin L.

Yelp
It's a small little spot with a few tables. The service is meh but it's only one guy so I'll let it slide cuz the food was great! My friend and I ordered bibimbap and bonjuk. I got the octopus and kimchi bonjuk which came with a number of sides. The congee was very thick but I remember that being the case for all Korean congees I've had. The spice from the kimchi was great and the little pieces of octopus was a nice surprise. It was a huge bowl of congee and it was a bit overwhelming but as I continued to eat, it slowly disappeared cuz it was delicious! The food here is the star! Definitely worth a visit and worth the price with the sides it came with. With so many Korean restaurants around, it's a pleasant surprise and worth a visit.

Lilly D.

Yelp
Another go-to when I want a simple, clean and healthy food. The place is pleasantly cozy and service is wonderful. I have done a few pick-up orders and food is always satisfying.

Alicia N.

Yelp
The service was questionable. There was one person managing orders and cleaning tables. My group and I were waiting for someone to clean the empty tables of those who had already left for a long time. The ambiance was okay, plain and simple. As for the spicy seafood soups my group and I had, it was very sub-par. I would not come back for any of the tofu/seafood soups. The japchae was also very salty and so was my seafood soup. The side dishes were underwhelming. There are three sides provided- kimchi, fishcake, and mac. The kimchi was so salty and not authentic tasting. The fishcake was good. The red bean drink was good but I would not order again for the price of more than $7 w/ tax. It's nothing special. Next time I may go for the rice porridge but the service was underwhelming so I may take my business elsewhere.

Yelp
They have good porridge. It comes with some mini sized banchans. If you dine in, they will kindly refill. But their dongchimi banchan is weird, they only give you 3 pcs of radish, or sometimes none, just the liquid. Their bibimbap is ok. It is missing beef, it only has vegg. The bad part is the premade kochujang sauce in packets. My parents thought it had alot of MSG. U need about pkts to make the bibimbap taste ok. Place is clean and service is solid / good.

Yelp
Famous Korean rice porridge. My family and I had this on our last trip to Seoul pre-pandemic. Back then it wasn't in the states yet. Tastes just like the ones we had. The vegetable porridge and beef mushroom was delicious. Comes with three sides (kimchi, shredded meat, spicy banchan mix of something I don't know but it was delicious), and a cold dongchimi (clear radish soup). In Seoul we had their sweet potato soup and it comes with mochi. It was also delicious but we didn't get a chance to try it here this time. Also, their take-out packaging is so cute its hard not to come back for that alone. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
For Rowland Heights, Bonjuk is a pretty great choice to eat Korean food if you're not looking for kbbq, fried chicken, soondubu, or the common faire. Mushroom Bulgogi Bibimbap: great flavor, especially since they caramelize their white onions. Bulgogi is cooked well and has a great marinade. I would even order the bulgogi by itself. Rice was bouncy and not super sticky - a good sign that it is fresh. Portion could be better at nearly $16 Oyster and Mushroom Porridge: really enjoyable, the flavors and textures of the main ingredients goes together like peas and carrots. The mushrooms are evenly diced and has a good bite while the oysters did well to bring a seafood savory flair with every bite. Lots of mushroom (which I love) but needs more oysters to be proportionate; it was like 3:1 ratio of mushrooms to oysters. I understand oysters cost more but it'd be perfect if portions were balanced. Worth the $15 for being in Rowland. Beef and Mushroom Porridge: I don't know if ground beef is a good choice for porridges in general. I taste a lot of the mushroom and hints of unseasoned beef flavor; I'm not sure what's going on in this porridge because I didn't want to take any more bites after a few minutes. It's as if I heated up a can of Pedigree (even smells like it too) and blended some thick rice with sprinkles of vegetables. I added kimchi and other banchans to every bite because it was necessary. Some people might enjoy having little pieces of ground meat in every bite but I would not order it again due to lack of flavor. Kimchi Pancake: I would order this just by itself if I didn't come for porridge. Excellent texture and kimchi amount. Not too salty or sour, which makes it perfect for their dipping sauce. Thinking about the initial mouth taste and the crunch that comes right after makes me salivate while writing this. I feel they should give more banchan for the price; 3 tiny sauce containers of side dishes is laughable compared to most Korean restaurants even at lower prices. I do enjoy the cold marinated beef banchan which was interesting and definitely less common among side dishes. I understand this is their style as Bonjuk gives off a minimalistic-clean vibe and having so much banchan can take away that aesthetic of the cafe. I do enjoy their barley/corn tea since they give a whole half gallon at your dispense.
