Google
What an absolutely wonderful ice cream shop. The staff is great with as many free samples as you like which is important as they really push the envelope on fun flavors like Chocolate Cardomon, Blueberry Corbread and Salted Caramel Orea. Great way to cleanse your palate after any email. BTW portions were generous.

Google
I discovered this wonderful place over 30 years ago when I lived in the Bonnie Brae neighborhood. Stopped in yesterday for a scoop of Butter Brickle and it was like time stopped. Same craveworthy flavors and friendly service at the best ice cream shop in Denver.

Google
Bonnie Brae hits it out of the park with their Banana Split! We have been on a quest for the best Banana Split and this one is the best so far! Don’t hesitate, round up the fam and go get some ice cream!

June 5. 2024 visited June 5, 2024 after Chatfield Farms and driving through Deer Creek Canyon, we stopped at Bonnie Brae for Ice Cream. For dinner Kali, Amanda, and I went to El Patron for amazing drinks and food! Cookie butter and cheesecake ice cream at Bonnie Brae, after a hot day at Chatfield Botanic Gardens.

Google
Don’t be spooked by the long line -the line moves quickly. when you get inside all the flavors are displayed, lots of variety and lots of selections for cones. fast, friendly service.

Google
Me and my family love going here even though it’s a longer drive! The ice cream is always good! Totally recommend coming and trying their ice cream!

Google
This was my first time at Bonnie Brae Ice Cream, and their homemade ice cream was just delicious. I tried their salted Oreo ice cream and it was just the right balance of salty and sweet.

Stephanie Yang

Google
Even though the line may look long, I promise it goes by faster than you think and the ice cream is worth it! The flavors are changed daily and have never disappointed. They are also great at accommodating for gluten free diets, and have a selection of dairy free ice cream as well.

Yelp
Everything about this store is positive. There are many choices as well as toppings. This ice cream parlor continues to attract large crowds and a large following. It continues to win awards. It's prices are on the upper side, but the cost of ice cream everywhere has gone up over the past few years so really can't complain. There has been little change in the interior, but it is clean and inviting. The store continues to be one of the best ice cream parlors in Denver.

Yelp
New favorite ice cream shop in Denver. And we have tried a LOT. Staff was very kind to allow us to try as many flavors as want. From a gluten free perspective, there were a LOT of options. Personal faves: peanut butter chocolate chip and cappuccino crunch! Such a nostalgic ambiance, classic ice cream parlor vibes.

Yelp
I was very excited about this and it wasn't very expensive. However, we ended up having only about 10 bites of it. It didn't have a lot of flavor. The consistency wasn't great a little bit icy. Wouldn't necessarily come back but willing to give another chance maybe.
google avatar

Kaitlyn H.

Yelp
Vegan flavors were Cinnamon & Oreo - so much better and yummier than other ice cream shops' typical vegan options! Highly recommend
google avatar

Tink R.

Yelp
We all loved the ice cream and the toppings...for instance, real HOT fudge. Enjoyed Reese's & Crème, Mint Chocolate Chip, Vanilla, and Chocolate Chip. Excellent ice cream and excellent service! Thank you. We'll be back!

Yelp
Classic neon lights, corner store , picnic tables and benches full of people enjoying an assortment of delicious homemade ice cream combinations. This is a quintessential ice cream joint and it gets everything right. Don't have a picture of the location as we got a pint and some waffle cones to go but man was this so good

Yelp
Love the ice cream here. This is our go to place and lemon custard is my absolute favorite. Love their rotating flavors. Service is quick and great.

Martha Joanne W.

Yelp
Ice cream was creamy and a good size. It was a nice little novelty spot to hang out and just catch up. They had ample tables and benches but too many people to accommodate. We had a bit of a wait but as expected since it's pretty popular.

Yelp
We needed an ice cream stop before our next family adventure. It's been a long time since I've been here. The service was great. This is a very cute ice cream shop. All the ice creams varies every time in addition to the common ones they typically have. The ice cream here is absolutely delicious. Looking for delicious ice cream? This is the place. Great for a hot day, dates, family treats, and just looking for something sweet. Love this place and will be coming back again.

Yelp
This place is a core childhood memory of mine and my parents use to take me there when we first moved here from Japan. I always would get the same thing, Oreos and cream. Every time I walked by this place it always has that pleasant vanilla, caramel like scent and I think they also make their waffle cones fresh. I haven't been here in a long time, probably haven't been in like 10 years and decided to stop by, I really enjoyed it and it was super good and service was great. Place is clean and old school cool. The ice cream was creamy and every bite was dreamy!

Yelp
I find a way back here over and over again! This is my favorite ice cream spot in Denver! The flavors are always changing and I always forget about some until they make a reappearance on the menu. But it's nice to always have a wide selection. Butter brickle is my favorite flavor! They have puppy ice cream sandwiches too (which my dog loves). It tastes like homemade ice creamery ice cream which is what you want. It's a chill old school vibe and aesthetic to the shop. A lot of people take their ice cream and sit outside on the benches or tables when the weather is nice. Mentally prepare for a long line in the summer months. It goes pretty quick for the length of line. Major key, get a quart or pint to go once you have your favorite flavor. It's more cost effective than multiple trips.

Yelp
Always wonderful! Enjoy the selection of flavors, service, and atmosphere. One of the cleanest places around, well light and full of happy customers!. People enjoy

Yelp
If you're looking for a classic ice cream parlor experience, Bonnie Brae is the place! This iconic Denver spot not only has great homemade ice cream, but will give you a nostalgic feeling. Two of us split a double sundae which was plenty to share. We opted for classic vanilla scoops, but there were a variety of flavors I will be back to try! This is an order at the counter type of place, and the sundaes are not served in glass bowls. Nonetheless, you'll have a fun experience.

Yelp
Real Deal! Drive down University in the Summer and you'll know why. Lines down the block. Great assortment of flavors....some really unique and cool. Wonderful creamy flavorful ice cream. Great service. Try any of the flavors no problem. Fair prices. I might even come back in the winter!!!!!

Yelp
Even though the line was out the door, it went by super fast. There was a good amount of workers that kept everything moving. The little shop has a really nice and cute vibe. Finally, the ice cream list was huge, I got the cherry root beer and... IT WAS SOOOO GOOD AND CREAMY! 100/10 would recommend!
google avatar

Katie P.

Yelp
I got the salted Oreo which was delicious! Some might think it's too salty but I thought it was the right amount. Service was quick despite the line out the door. It gets pretty busy on a warm night so we didn't hang around.
google avatar

Lianna B.

Yelp
My first time trying ice cream from here and I loved it! They had a long lineup out the door and down the street yet the staff were so friendly and helpful and still allowed for samples. There were ample flavors to choose from and I appreciated that waffle cones were included in prices. I went with lemon blueberry which was refreshing and butter brickle which had toffee like pieces and was super sweet. I would recommend either. I sampled the lemon custard as well which I found wasn't as flavorful and the blueberry cheesecake which had nice cheesecake pieces. Scoops were a fair sized and there was a good amount of seating outside. Parking lot next door is for liquor store only so street parking in the neighborhood is the way to go but there seemed to be enough spots within less than a 5 min walk.

Yelp
Nice Place, Like the ice cream and deco was cool looking, the food was pretty good, service was good to, most the staff was friendly, they worked very quickly
google avatar

Brianna B.

Yelp
Definitely on my top 10 list of best ice cream places I've been to! I love Bonnie Brae: it has that old school ice cream parlor feel but updated and fun flavors. I couldn't resist a brownie sundae, and they do a good one here. The brownie itself is solid, and they have a good fudge. For flavors, the cookie dough and funfetti cookie dough are winners in my book: the key is that they make their own cookie dough, which makes a huge difference. I also loved their Oreos & Cream: probably some of the best C&C ice cream I've had because they use HUGE chunks of Oreos. The only flavor that was not good at all was the Triple Chocolate Death (shocking! It just had a weird aftertaste). Service was friendly and fast, and be aware that they do have a long line-even on a Thursday night! But it moved quickly and is so worth it.

Yelp
Even though I LOVE ice cream, I've never lived close to the legendary Bonnie Brae Ice Cream shop and therefore had never enjoyed their work previously. A hot weekday night prompted some adventure, and it checked every box, a great experience! Luckily, it was early evening, so the usual line had yet to form, and the service staff was full of warmth and assistance. They also had a good sense of humor, which led to an even more positive experience. They make their ice cream on-site, I selected a luscious cookies and cream option that was incredible. I Sat outside the store and had the whole experience, watching people continually go into the shop and come out smiling. Regrets for not visiting earlier, but this won't be the last time because driving 20 minutes takes calories, right?

Yelp
Bonnie Brae is very much a classic old style looking ice cream shop. It smells delicious inside and they always have great flavors to choose from. Considering it's a little far from me, I don't visit too often so I sadly cannot recommend a specific flavor but they truly have a flavor for all types of tastes. I do dislike the parking situation a little because it's all street parking BUT the business has no control over that and it's in the city so what else would you expect. The workers are always nice and willing to let you try as many flavors are you'd like. I recommend visiting!
google avatar

Danielle Marie S.

Yelp
Bonnie Brae is a Denver staple and their ice cream is to die for! They always have a wide selection of homemade flavors that range from classic to wacky. They also serve shakes, malts, and floats. The prices are reasonable and even though it's consistently packed in there the employees always get you through the line quickly. It's a no-frills, classic ice cream parlor. Any time I go here it's such a delight!

Yelp
Cute and lovely ice cream shop! Took the kiddos out for some ice cream and they absolutely loved it! Staff were so friendly and helpful, definitely love the vibes of the area. Definitely coming back for
google avatar

Kristen L.

Yelp
I can see why so many people love the ice cream here. So many fun choices, and the staff was very kind and allowed me to try a few different kinds before choosing. In the end, I got the Cinnamon ice cream, and the Triple chocolate. So good!!!!
google avatar

Mariya S.

Yelp
I was dreaming about this place when I first tried their ice cream. I couldn't stop craving their cotton candy flavor and I wish it was a permanent flavor. Very cute little store, definitely worth a hype!
google avatar

Kait S.

Yelp
I have been coming here for 15 years and it is so close to my heart. My mom loves their triple death chocolate ice cream and I usually try their rotating flavors. Today I got their egg nog ice cream in a gluten free cone. I haven't seen an ice cream shop with gf cones before and it was so yummy!
google avatar

Alisa J.

Yelp
This is a really great ice cream within close walking distance from a great area with lots of shops and restaurants. There was a line out the door on a Saturday night. The ice cream was worth it though and reasonably priced for Denver everything is made fresh there and was really flavorful. I loved the peppermint and black cherry flavors I got. They had seasonal fall flavors as well.

John E.

Yelp
The best ice cream in Colorado. Always new fun flavors, the best service and a great old fashioned vibe. Piper makes the best banana spit on planet earth!
google avatar

Shruti J.

Yelp
Husband and I have been in Denver for 8 and 3 years respectively and yet either of us had never tried Bonnie Brae (shame)! We finally made it here and now I'm mad that we did not come here sooner. This retro place near cherry creek has probably one of the richer tasty ice creams I've had. Their lemon custard ice cream is just lovely. They're open late on weekends and just perfect for post dinner ice cream cravings. Parking can be an issue during busy hours but we found a spot fairly easily.

Koren S.

Yelp
I love bananas. They have bananas, ice cream. It is quite scrumptious like bananas. Please come and try the delectable bananas.

Yelp
After getting dinner with some friends we all decided to grab some ice cream-- I've passed by this place many of times so, I was excited to try it. The outside & inside has all the old school ice cream parlor vibes. They were very busy when we walked in however, the staff was super nice and a welcoming as we looked over the menu/ice cream options-- they immediately offered tasters and assistance. They do have many interesting flavors so, it was nice to taste a couple before committing /making a decision. I went with cotton candy (if you like cotton candy, I highly recommend) Flavors good & kind customer service. My only recommendation would be more seating available especially on colder days.
google avatar

Shahan A.

Yelp
I think I got the cookie dough ice cream? Really good. It's a small shop with a nice 80s aesthetic to it. Had a chill time with friends outside.
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
An amazing ice cream shop! They have gluten free cones and yummy ice cream. The spot is so nice to go to after going on a walk at Wash Park! It is the best! The service was so kind and quick!

Joe M.

Yelp
Without question, the absolute best in Denver (by a large factor). Incredibly nice staff, and a great list of rotating specialties.
google avatar

Anthony C.

Yelp
From the location to the atmosphere, this feels like what most ice cream shops would aspire to be. Hard to top it.

Mark G.

Yelp
Best ice cream ever!!! So many flavors. Huge variety. The people working there are always so nice. A neighborhood gem!!!!!!!
google avatar

Elizabeth A.

Yelp
Now THIS is an ice cream shop! It is so cute and I love that it is local and ice cream is made in house. You almost never find that any more. Our service was fast and came with a smile. They had just served like 40 kids on a track team and were still happy we were there. I had cookies and cream (huge Oreo chunks) and my husband had black first cake. Both were excellent. It's close to wash park, so great location for an ice cream and a walk!
google avatar

TJ M.

Yelp
a WIDE variety of ice cream, served with a friendly smile. I really enjoyed this ice cream shop for a treat. Tip, be patient, THERE WILL BE A LINE.

Yelp
One of BEST ice cream spots I've been to in Denver! To be fair, I don't live in Denver, but have tried a decent amount of ice cream places while visiting. They were busy at 3pm on a Sunday in January, but it was actually nice and sunny out that day. It was only a short line, and we were in an out in 5 minutes. You can't go inside right now, and you have to place your order at their takeout window. It was difficult to communicate through the window, and I had to repeat my order a few times for them to hear me. Not sure if there was an issue with the speaker at the window I was at (far left), but hope this is improved for future customers. They had SO many flavors available (at least 30), and it was difficult to decide what to get. We finally went with more classic flavors, and had no regrets. The Malted Milk Ball (Pint/$6.50) and Oreos n' Cream (Pint/$6.50) [https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=eEijw9Z3J3FZk3owufYQvg&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg] were both awesome! The Oreos n' Cream was my favorite out of the two, and a must try for any oreo lover. I loved that their ice cream was thick, but smooth and creamy, and they didn't skimp on the Oreos. The malted milk ball was also really good, and packed with malted milk balls- recommended! I will definitely be back to try more of their ice creams, and their pineapple pistachio is at the top of my list. No indoor seating was available, but they had some tables for outdoor seating. All staff were wearing masks correctly, and they had hand sanitizer. Parking will be the most challenging part about coming here since street parking is available, but limited.
google avatar

Bob W.

Yelp
Please support this iconic old school place so they never leave. Words can't describe the quality. PLEASE brush up on your manners and read & respect the sign on the door that asks to keep the door closed so the ice cream remains proper temperature. Cheers
google avatar

K C.

Yelp
Not worth it. There is a subtle discrimination. I'm not white, all employees turn around and seem to ignore us. They took orders from two white customers who came in after me. Never say anything before I ask. flavor is nothing special.won't come back.

Ryan H.

Yelp
Delicious Line moves quickly Friendly staff Their ice cream is worth the parking hassle.
google avatar

Mallory S.

Yelp
A denver classic! Huge list of options as far as flavors and serving styles. They have everything from sundaes to sorbets and a cute old timey vibe you can't beat. Parking is tough, and you will undoubtedly wait in line, but employees keep things moving and help you sample and pick the right flavor. It is not the BEST ice cream there ever was, but it is pretty good and with friendly staff and a good rhythm to the shop, it's impossible to leave here unhappy.
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
The best ice cream I've had in the area. So many interesting flavors and upon walking in you're asked if you'd like to try any of them - heck yes! I got a cup of 3 scoops (Mint Choc Chip, Dulce de Leche, and salted Oreo) and they all were delicious! Super creamy and perfectly sweet. Mint choc is one of my faves and they put in a nice portion of thick chocolate chunks. The line can get a little long and it's a bit more on the pricey side, but the quality is excellent.

H C.

Yelp
WOW! My friend who is a Denver local insisted we make a stop here on International Ice Cream Day and it did not disappoint. I got a split scoop of the vegan cinnamon and Oreo and the base was rich and flavor and easily one of the best non dairy bases I have ever tried. My friends got the German chocolate, mango sorbet, and chocolate and all felt the same enjoyment as myself. The store has a cute retro esthetic making you feel as if you just went in a Time Machine back to an old ice cream shop. The staff was extremely helpful, and even though it was a busy day had no problem giving my friends and I samples. This is not necessarily the place to go to with a large group if your plan is to sit down as the seating is limited, but on a good weather day would be the perfect place to pick up a scoop and walk around the Bonnie Brae area.
google avatar

Jim C.

Yelp
Worth the wait in line. Ice cream is great! Staff is very friendly! Waffle cones were way too hard to enjoy, our group of 5 all threw them in the trash along with the 2$ add on for the cone.
google avatar

Rachael P.

Yelp
Don't let the long lines dissuade you... these folks are CRANKING out ice cream, and the line moves fast. Our absolute favorite in the winter time is Peppermint- get it while it lasts! A million other flavors, always something interesting or that you've never tried. Vegan and dairy-free options... and a fun sidewalk setting to people watch.
