The Best Miami Coffee Shops with Free Wifi | Eater Miami

"Books & Books has several locations in South Florida, but the Café at Books & Books Coral Gables stands out from the crowd. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day of the week and has plenty of seating room, including an open-air courtyard, for some quiet time." - Greyceli Marin

Amazing spot. Very laid-back and chill vibes. Place was amazing. Felt like a old school book shop. There’s even a restaurant and Cafe or you can order drinks while you check out your book or magazine in the patio. I spent about an hour here today. If you’re into books, I highly recommend this place. Prices are affordable as well. Nothing is inflated. The workers were also very helpful. I would definitely be coming back soon.

Like pretty much everyone who reviewed Books & Books, I found it quite charming as well. They have a couple rooms of books so not the largest selection, but really tall stacks and organized very well. Aesthetically pleasing store for sure. In the opening room with the cash register, most of the books’ covers are shown which makes it much easier to find what you may like. Sure, you can’t judge a book by its cover but sometimes that’s how you shop! They also have a cafe and, I think, a bar! Or they did this particular night. And those were super packed. So I guess those are good reasons to check out your local book store to ‘’read’’.

📇📚📖 Attended the Books & Books launch party for J. Philip Davies’ Catch Me When You Can—an incredible novel that absolutely delivered. Just as unforgettable was the venue itself: the timeless charm of a classic bookstore setting, paired with the warm, welcoming energy of the entire team, made the night feel truly special. Huge thanks to host Mark, along with Christina, Steve, and the rest of the amazing staff, for running such a smooth, thoughtful, and engaging event in a space full of history and character. A perfect setting for a literary launch!

Books & Books is one of my favorite spots! The service is always warm and welcoming, and the live music adds such a special touch to the atmosphere. The food is tasty and well-prepared, I just wish there were a few more gluten-free options on the menu. Still, it’s a lovely place to relax, eat, and enjoy great vibes.

Google
One I love the courtyard area and on the weekends they have live muisc. There's plenty of seating outside, but limited space inside if you want to sit down work or eat. They have a large variety of books, in both English and Spanish. I also adored the postcard selection they had and the dark wood exterior.

Google
Very pleasant place! I've been advised this bookstore and this is definitely a place to visit in Miami! The owner and the librarians are very kind and dedicated. They also have signed copies of a few books (I bought a signed copy of "None of this is true" by Lisa Jewell)

Google
A wonderful bookstore for bibliophiles, tourists needing beach reads or for plane trip home or a wonderful niche for children of all ages. The staff was very knowledgeable which helps. I found a marvelous book on 500 HIDDEN SECRETS of MIAMI. GO BUY IT! ITS not a secret anymore it’s PERFECT!

Google
Every time I’m in Miami, I come to this bookstore. It’s quiet, intimate, refreshing and the service is ALWAYS and consistently EXCELLENT. Every time I’d come I would dream of having my novel sold here and today that dream came true. I’m at awe! The novel sold great in Spanish (Puerto Rico, Spain, London, USA), and now it’s available in English at Books and Books. For an indie author living in Puerto Rico, this is a huge step so I am grateful to the family at Books and Books (Jack, Cristina, Mark & Mitchell) for supporting every indie author in birthing their stories. Get your copy at the “New Releases” and “Romance” section. Sensual Eroticism • Spirituality • Ayahuasca • Past Lives • Latina Main Character • Healing • At War with Love • Loss • Rekindle Old Flames 🔥

Yelp
Took my best friend here for her birthday and we had an excellent time. We went on a Tuesday and it was not too busy. We walked around and perused and they have a wide selection of books, which is awesome although the layout is a bit confusing at first. We really enjoyed the children's section it's very cozy and offers an awesome selection of books and toys for the littles. We were having such a great time we decided to grab lunch here too and wow we were blown away. The black bean hummus was amazing with the pita bread, I ordered a mojito which was strong and delicious. For entrees I ordered the curried chicken salad and WOW! This was very flavorful and the textures were great. She ordered a chicken Caesar salad which was pretty delicious as well. We ordered iced lattes at the end (not pictured) and WOW! Scrumptious coffee for an afternoon pick me up. Overall this is a great bookstore, the books are fairly priced, although the food is a bit expensive we enjoyed it so it was worth it.

Yelp
Huge bookstore with an equally huge selection. Bumped into a few cool finds and not just books! Similar to Barnes and Noble, they have a ton of different knick knacks and merch that catch your attention and beg for a buy. It's clean, spacious and perfect to read or get some work done. You can do so inside where the books are or outside where, at its center, they have an outside cafe. I grabbed an ice coffee and browsed their selection which, may I say, was so organized and well kept. The books I browsed were similarly priced to B&N, their merch was adorable, but also a tad on the pricey side. That said, I would definitely recommend and come back with friends soon.

Yelp
How could you go around? With this place, not only are you eating with great books? The food was also amazing a recommend the peach caprese salad and the mahi sandwich
google avatar

Mona E.

Yelp
This is a really cute café with so many different food options. There are a ton of books and the overall ambience is very nice. It feels like a more personal burn Barnes & Noble's. I would absolutely come back here. I really enjoyed studying here. The coffee was delicious and the surface was very fast and I didn't feel like I was rushed out even on a Saturday. Sometimes it can be really hard to find a seat here, but it is really worth it .

Yelp
Wow! I love a bookstore and this one is definitely a bookstore on steroids. I love that you could come here to grab a coffee, lunch, or a drink AND browse all the books. The setting is beautiful and I would love spending time in their courtyard. They have a stellar selection of books and they have laid it out very well. I spent a ton of time in the children's room. My son is obsessed with space and it was easy to find their space area and browse. They have all the top hot kids categories like space, transportation, dinosaurs, etc. They employees were all very friendly. A lovely place to spend an afternoon and stock up on books.

Yelp
Food and Books. Is there a better combo? I think not. Books&Books is a cafe with food, pastries, drinks and lots and lots of books to choose from. From mystery to biographies, this cafe/bookstore has a wonderful variety that fits everyone's needs. They host book readings, live music events and more! So be sure to be on the lookout for your favorite author coming here and enjoy the happy hours. Definitely a nice place to enjoy a coffee while working or studying. The owner Jonah was very helpful and made sure to get us a table even though they were packed. Our waiter, Eli, was great. Definitely made us feel comfortable. We ordered the veggie sandwich and a new menu item, a chicken salad on the menu with a honey mustard sauce that tasted wonderful. I had a flat Prosecco and I tried the matcha with almond milk. I have never had a matcha this good. We wrapped up the meal with a pecan pie that tasted more like pecan than sugar. Loved it. The prices of books is affordable and so is the food, especially compared to the portion sizes, which are pretty big. Excited to see this place expand more throughout Florida.

Yelp
Books and Books is easily on my list of the best spots to visit in South Florida. It is a huge bookshop with three separate halls filled with books from all genres old and new. They have a separate room for events and guest speakers who frequently come to talk about their newly released books. The staff is always ready to offer a helping hand and they all had smiles on their faces. The best part is that the center of the shop hosts a cafe and bar where you can casually read, catch up on some work, or enjoy your food or beverage. They had plenty of options on the menu including breakfast foods and pastries. Since we were not very hungry, we only ended up ordering the lavender latte and lemon pound cake, which were both delicious. During my visit, they had a poetry station and they were sharing snippets of poetry from incarcerated poets for free. It is unique things like this that make me enjoy the life and culture of South Florida!

Yelp
10/10.... Vibes, food, friendly staff! Books & books checks all the boxes. If you're looking for a new study spot, or just a chill spot for a coffee or lunch, Books and Books is the place. I came for a long study grind, so I didn't get to explore as much as I had hoped, but from what I saw, this place was so cool. The outdoor patio was super spacious and there were multiple rooms filled with tons of different books. My coffee was so yummy. I ordered the Mayan Mexican mocha on ice and it was great. I also ordered the shrimp and avocado hoagie to eat which was incredible. It was the perfect study pick me up. And the carrot cake was the perfect reward when I was done studying. Carrot cake it my FAV, and Books & Books did not miss with this one. Also, I wish I got our server's name, but she was amazing. So attentive and she had a great soothing vibe about her (fitting for such a vibey place). I definitely recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
Always a wonderful time at Books & Books but even better when Lucia + Steven are playing live. Absolutely obsessed their beautiful & heartfelt bossa nova heavy renditions of various well known songs. Such a treat! Food is also always fresh, inventive & tasty. If you're REALLY lucky, you may be there when the wonderful bartender decides to jump on the ic & bless us all with gorgeous voice! Love this special, magical lil' place so much.

Yelp
It's always a good time going to Books & Books. I used to come here to study during my Masters. As a book and wine lover, this place is sanctuary. I'm the type of person who visits bookstores a lot when I travel. Compared to other booksellers, I believe this bookstore is fairly priced. In addition to the books, they have a carefully curated cafe menu. Their wine selection is fantastic- they have a range of Spanish and California Wines. I got their Sierra Cantabria Wine which was paired nicely with their rich chocolate red velvet cake. What's also great about this business is that they really support the Miami community. The event that I went to is called Palms and Poems which was organized by the Miami Poetry Club. Even with a big event, the service is great. The staff was very accommodating and made sure to get our orders without interrupting the show.

Yelp
Finally got to check out Books & Books and I think I've found my new Starbucks alternative. Parking is so easy in the garage across the street. I was here for a coffee meeting and arrived a little early and got some work in first. We shared a large bottle of pellegrino which is always a refreshing option. Their coffees are huge! I had a small latte and I can't imagine how big the large would have been. Finally I ordered their classic banana bread as a treat while waiting and it was served warm which just made it melt in my mouth. They have full meals, as well as a large wine selection. Thinking back on it... I'll be back tomorrow lol.

Yelp
I have always loved going to Books & Books, either for events, meeting up for lunch or happy hour, or just to shop for books! Books & Books has several locations, but the Coral Gables location is the best to meet up with a friend. The independent bookstore is a local treasure and has so many great events. I have come here to see authors speak - both local and not - and I've come here for free Raw Figs events, which is a local art group. I have always had great service from people working behind the cash register. If the store doesn't have a book, they help you order it or tell you which store may have it. I've enjoyed chatting with them about books in general too. The cafe is a great place to meet up with friends or to get some writing done. I've enjoyed meeting up with friends for just a slice of cake and a cup of tea from their selection. Their meals are filling and delicious. I appreciated them having a vegetarian sandwich on the menu that is creative and filling! I hope Books & Books stays here forever because it's definitely a Coral Gables staple and adds so much value to the neighborhood.

Yelp
Such a beautiful place to study, but you're paying for being in this bougie wine, coffee, little appetizer, bookshop with a boutique-like setting. The bartender was so sweet. I enjoyed my conversation with him and learning about his journey and how he made it to the Gables. Will definitely be back, just now there's awesome parking across the street too... Which is hard to come by in the Gables.
google avatar

Samantha M.

Yelp
I came to books & books with the intentions of studying... then I found myself in awe of the amount & variety of books in the store. The walls are lined with books from top to bottom with tables spread out covered with even MORE books. They also have the sliding ladder and Lego version of the store which I thought were really cool. Like I mentioned, I came with the intention to study so I headed to their cafe to grab a place to sit and a snack. One of the workers, Savannah helped me pick out a delicious slice of carrot cake ( SO good I forgot to take a picture before digging in!!) and was very nice as are all the other workers I spoke to today. I opted to sit indoors as it is WAY too hot to sit outside even under the shade. It was a busy Sunday so do be mindful what days and times you come so you can bring headphones to help focus. However, I do wish they had more indoor seating areas so people can spread out more. Their cafe is a cute casual spot perfect for parties of one up to a small group of friends. Books & books has a great vibe that suits all ages, you're sure to find something for everyone. They have from kids books, to art/graphic design books, books in Spanish, basically anything you can think of! I could see this as a perfect spot for a little date or meeting up with friends. I had a great time just coming alone and taking it all in and will definitely be back for one of their events!
google avatar

Ariana O.

Yelp
This is a really cute spot! However, they are usually pretty packed and they don't have that many seating options nor charging stations if you're looking to do some work on your laptop. The latte I had was really tasty. The service here was excellent. I didn't get to try the food, but it did look delicious.
google avatar

Jordan K.

Yelp
A gables staple with a great atmosphere, laid back, relaxed, Indoor/outdoor seating and a perfect place to drink a beer or glass of wine, eat a sandwich and shop for a book.
google avatar

Lucia P.

Yelp
Books & books is so great! You can go in to shop for books, gifts, coffee or a bite to eat. There's indoor and outdoor seating if you want to sit, as well as a bar area. It's a good food menu with various options for appetizers, salads, sandwiches, soups and dessert. They even have a happy hour! A good menu of wine, beer, and coffee. I recently sat outside and had the hummus and Anya's veggie sandwich. It was delicious. Served was attentive and kind. Prices are fair. The bookstore area is also so great. Wonderful selection of books with really thoughtful gift options as well. There are t shirts, jewelry, cards, and other gift options. Staff is kind and helpful! Definitely a little gem in the gables! It's great to support local bookstores.
google avatar

Rajiv K.

Yelp
Came in for an impromptu dessert: chocolate cake. It was very rich and delicious. You can select an inside seating where it seems a lot of wfm people live or outside which is relaxed and feels more open to talk without getting side eyed. I was surprised to see and attend a trivia night too on a whim and it was really fun! The team clearly puts a lot of effort into making this bookstore something special and genuinely part of the community. Keep it up!
google avatar

Cami L.

Yelp
The cutest most divine local book store. The cobb salad is great, they have regular events and it is always a lovely time.

Yelp
I love coming to Books and Books on my lunch breaks! I really enjoy coming here and it's a great place to disconnect from corporate monotony. I usually get the veggie sandwich and add red peppers. The sandwich comes with a side salad and pesto sauce which is delicious (really brings the sandwhich flavors together). The staff are always kind and sweet. They are a little slow when it comes to taking your order or getting the food but worth the wait. There is outdoor and indoor seating, I love getting sunshine in the middle of day. They have umbrellas and fans that help with the heat. I have purchased books in the past and the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable on difference genres and authors. I know they have love music at night and readings occasionally. I have not been able to go but definitely plan to in the future!

Yelp
This has always been my cherished hidout in Miami. Whenever I'm in need of a getaway, I find solace here, losing myself in books and traveling on journeys across the world, all while bring in a cozy spot. I've gained a wealth of knowledge about Cuban history, culture, and art during my visits to this place. Do not miss the children's section, which offers wide choices of gifts perfect for friends and family. The baristas at this place are exceptionally warm and welcoming, adding to the unique ambiance. What makes this place truly remarkable is the harmonious blend of my two passions: books and coffee. With each sip of coffee enriched with caffeine and books, I'm space-shifted away from reality and the craziness of this world. This place gives an Andalusian vibe infused with the vibrant spirit of Miami.

Jessica H.

Yelp
I've been here before to purchase a book, but today I had a lunch date , I met the owner , & his son happened to be our server. Everyone was so delightful!! The menu is quite impressive as are the wines ..not to mention the book selection!! I especially appreciated the wall of recommendations by each staff member. I purchased one and look forward to reading it ! :) Also purchased River of Grass & a black culture coffee table book called Black Ivy
google avatar

Jessica Z.

Yelp
Love this place! It is going to be my new go-to study place. The food was good in a healthy way, though the soup could have been saltier. The pita and croutons were crunchy and delicious. There's also so many books to explore throughout the store. My friend loved this place and had to hold himself back from spending too much on all the interesting books he found. The staff were friendly. The books are also sold at the listed retail value on the book's backing, so prices feel fair.
google avatar

Jane D.

Yelp
It feels like there are zero book stores in Miami, so when I came here I easily spent 40 minutes wandering around because I miss book stores generally. This location is shaped like a U, wrapping around an outdoor cafe. I was slightly confused at first when I first got there, but then found the bulk of the books. The cafe is really cute - did a friend date there and had a nice pudgy chocolate chip cookie and some iced tea. The chocolate chip cookie had potential to be top decile, but it was still very good despite it being cold ish. Everyone who works here is very nice and helpful!
google avatar

Alex F.

Yelp
I've been coming to this location for almost 20 years! I love the low-key vibe whether I'm coming for lunch during the week or listening to live jazz music at night. My favorite lunch meal is the curry chicken salad, although I'm never disappointed no matter what I order. They also have happy hour specials Monday through Friday, live music Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights and discounts on wine bottles on Wednesdays.
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
Always a fun afternoon at Books & Books. We tried the mahi sandwich on focaccia and the turkey with Brie. They came with tortilla chips or a side salad. Both were delicious. I have been coming here for over 20 years and you always feel like the employees generally enjoy working here and are always super helpful. Our children have enjoyed coming here since they were very little and we have been coming since before they were born and they always enjoy spending time in the children's section. -This is always a cozy little spot to have a nice quiet afternoon and find some great books.
google avatar

Kenzie A.

Yelp
This place is incredible. If I lived in Miami, I would live here! It's a coffee shop, bar, and bookstore all in one. They have an amazing selection of books, including books in other languages. It seems like an awesome place to come work, hang out, or just read a book with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. The outdoor area where the bar and additional seating are located is magical, but today is too rainy to properly enjoy. 10/10 recommend coming to check it out :)

Yelp
Always a lovely visit to Book n Books. It is iconic for Coral Gables. The building is very pretty and the interior is how a book store should be!
google avatar

Celeste P.

Yelp
One of my new favorite bookstores! Delicious food, extensive drink selection and an even wider book selection. Must visit for all book lovers!
google avatar

Adriana B.

Yelp
I just love this bookstore, not only for the selection of books they have but the location in Coral Gables is so beautiful! There are different rooms with a garden in the middle. I learned that the building was originally a hospital. The cafe is worth trying, you can sit inside amongst the books and very close to the next table or you can take advantage of the patio. The staff is terrific, very friendly and knowledgeable. Yes, you may find the same books elsewhere for less, but it's worth helping a small business and ensuring they are around in the future. They offer lots of great events and also now have a Literary Foundation. Let's help this business be around another 40 + years.

Yelp
It's been a minute but what a jog down memory lane. We loved it and had a great time. We went to support a local musical artist, Marco Barrios, and he was great! The vibe was refreshing and the ambiance was nice. We sat outside. We had drinks that didn't disappoint and looking forward to going back for a meal. Enjoy!
google avatar

Troy O.

Yelp
First time visiting. My guest had the avocado Greek salad. I had the turkey panini wrap. The salad was gigantic. Quite delicious. Quite a lot of avocado. My guest enjoyed her meal. My turkey panini was delicious. However, after eating the salad that came with it and the turkey panini, I was still hungry. It's not going to fill up a person who is hungry. The turkey panini wrap is meant to be for someone who's just has a light hunger. Again, I want to stress the panini wrap was absolutely amazing, just not enough for me. I love the vibe, the ambience. I felt like I was in a cocoon being surrounded by all these wonderful books and magazines. I will definitely go back. They have a delightful menu and a great drink list.
google avatar

Rebekah P A.

Yelp
I loved the products, vibe, cuisine, and people. It's a place where I enjoy the fantastic book experience. It's so much more than a bookstore! Check it out on a day they have music!
google avatar

David W.

Yelp
This Coral Gables Books & Books is really a gem of a bookstore - of architectural and design interest, as well as having an extensive stock of very thoughtfully selected titles. Just to be clear, this is an independent bookstore selling new books at the Coral Gables location - they have about 6 other locations in FL. I was in a bit of a hurry, so I couldn't hang in the very cool bar area, which, if rumor is correct, is among Coral Gables's more popular intellectual pick-up spots. In my case, I very quickly picked up Claire-Louise Bennett's latest, Checkout 19. Their website is very informative, so also check that out for listings of author readings and other events. Next visit, will definitely check out the cafe.
google avatar

Bethany L.

Yelp
Honestly, this is just the best indie bookstore to have in my city! This main location is so large - it almost feels like a maze, since the building loops around an inner courtyard. Overall, it's just the perfect cozy bookstore to get lost in. The books themselves are smartly organized and it is easy to find the genre/section you are looking for; their selection is certainly going to be smaller than a big box store/national chains, but I've always found they have a good selection of newer releases, popular backlists, and indie authors (especially local authors!). The staff is extremely helpful and will point you in the right direction, or provide recommendations. And, if needed, they are more than willing to special order a title for customers! Books & Books also has a small cafe that offers beer, wine, food, pastries, coffee and tea. Additionally, they host a plethora of virtual and in-person readings and author events! Overall, I will always stop at Books & Books over a national brand for my new releases!

Yelp
If you're ever looking for an immediate mood booster on a gloomy day, Books & Books is the perfect place for you. Something about being surrounded by so many stories, autobiographies, mystery, fiction, science, wellness, etc. creates this incredibly euphorical environment. maybe it's just me, but Books & Books it a true gem in the 305. To start, service is wonderful -- we were looking for a specific book so we called in to see if they had it and person who helped us went out of their way to look for it and put it on hold. Upon arrival, they were so happy we came and told us a few other book recommendations based on our book choice. Which reminded me why book stores will always have a close place to my heart. This place really has it all... I mean it's huge! With so many different sections to it, I highly recommend stopping by for some time to really discover all what it has to offer. You can even grab a bite there while reading your book which was what we did. I'm so happy that we have a place like this in Miami!

Katrina P.

Yelp
We ordered the Curried Chicken Salad, Turkey Panini, and the Mahi Mahi sandwich. The curried chicken was super tender and yummy, went very well with the arugula and fresh mango they paired it with. The thick Brie slice that came on the turkey panini tasted super good with the pear too! And I was a little skeptical of the Mahi Mahi since I usually only like fried Mahi Mahi but the garlic aioli they served it with changed my mind about grilled Mahi Mahi. The ambience, aesthetic, and great service have left a lasting impression that will lead to me coming back many more times! If you're in the mood for good food, great energy, and cute visuals, this is your spot!

Junior S.

Yelp
My daughter is a voracious reader. She just lit up when I surprised her with her first time visit to the shop.

Roma C.

Yelp
This place was so beautiful. I love books and it was a great set up. All the details and what the readers need to feel comfortable - they had it all. The sandwiches were delicious. I had the turkey sandwich. And the coffee was great. Loved the service and how they took care of all their customers.

Yelp
I am middle-aged now. I miss the days when I was a young college student and then a young graduate student there were lots of bookstores for me to frequent and browse around. Nowadays, it is not so common to see bookstores since most people read online books. This is a gem of a bookstore. So quaint and charming! It has a lovely children's book section and has a nice selection of adult books including "banned" books that I enjoyed reading during my elementary school middle school, high school, college and graduate school days. Also, it has a small restaurant that has a "Happy Hour". My mom, my son and I were hungry after watching the Icelandic love-story movie, "Touch" at the Coral Gables Arts Cinema across the street. So my mom suggested we have a quick bite to eat at Books & Books. We ordered chicken fajitas, quesadillas and guacamole with tortilla chips as well as carrot cake and pecan pie. Everything was tasty, especially the guacamole, the carrot cake and the pecan pie. My mom also had red wine from their Happy Hour menu while we drank water that was charmingly served in mason jars by a friendly, kind and helpful waiter/bartender, Gabriel, my tocayo/namesake.

Barbara M.

Yelp
It is one of my fav food places and for sure best book place in town, love it, The food and service are super

Yelp
Books and books is fun. Large selection of books to choose from. Had the opportunity to attend a book release and it was fun. Enjoyed the Q&A with the author. Definitely will return for another one. Great store

Yelp
I am a big fan of Books & Books and always have been since I was younger. Even today, whenever I step into a Books & Books I head first to the kids section. The vibes are immaculate and the cafe is so cozy.

Romeo M.

Yelp
For anyone visiting South Florida this is a prime tourist stop. As good as any bookstore in New York or Boston. Great food in the cafe. A fun way to experience Florida. Iconic books. Great speakers. Great music. I love Books and Books.Do your friends and your children a favor . Give them a gift certificate from Books and Books for ev birthday and Holidays. I forgot to mention that my favorite item on the cafe menu is the Anya Sandwich on a grilled Chiabatta roll. It Is hard to imagine how something so healthy could be so delicious. I consider it a gastronomic epiphany.Try it. Your body will thank you.

Yelp
No photos needed to entice you. Stop in and thank me later. The staff, the vibe, the books, the space... every inch soothes you to experience a positive and an enjoyable time.

Yelp
Great selection of books in a comfy, communal setting with good F&B options if you want to stay & read what you buy.
