Bay Ho Brewery Launches Permanent Kitchen With ‘Farm-to-Trailer’ Burgers | Eater San Diego

"Tucked away inside a Morena Boulevard business park, Bitter Brothers Brewing Co. operates a small tasting room and is launching a new permanent food component on Wednesday, September 15 in partnership with Royal Rooster chef-owner Cory Rapp to help the five-year-old Bay Ho brewery bounce back from a hard pandemic stretch. Like many breweries that didn’t serve food, it was especially impacted by changing pandemic restrictions and at one point relied on a hot dog cart to keep the lights on; with Rapp on board I report that co-founder Bill Warnke hopes to bring back the brewery’s popular beer dinners and stabilize operations. Royal Rooster’s trailer will operate the same hours as the tasting room." - Candice Woo

During my trip to Vista, I stumbled upon this cool spot to hang out and grab a beer. They have ample seating both indoors and outdoors. Besides TVs, they also have ping pong and pool tables to keep you entertained. With a wide variety of beer styles on tap, everyone should be able to find something they enjoy. My personal favorite was the Ramble on IPA.

As per requested and admired amongst other visitors, this brewery and burger/wing joint was beyond par. The atmosphere and the food were outstanding and I want to go back but I can’t eat or drink anything else at the moment. I’ll be back breakfast lunch and dinner I swear. Nice lil get away behind and hidden in the industrial area shh…. The smash burger was so delicious and the wings were nice and crunchy and juicy chicken wings and the lagers were thirst Quenching. Highly recommended for new and repeat clients.

Google
Super fun place with a lot of entertainment and options. There is a pool table and many couches. They also have all age events from time to time. I like that they have inside and outside areas. Also, I had emailed them the day of an event and heard back extremely quick. I was quite impressed. I took my teens (as I don't drink anyways) and it was also a safe environment for them....plus they had a great time learning more about skating, listening to bands, and even seeing a mosh pit.

Google
Good craft beers, good space and seating for families. Multi-family get-together with space for the little kids to run around safely without bothering anyone. Pool tables and ping pong table, a few arcade games on site. And the burgers and fries from Party Burgers on site were great.

Google
Best customer service around. Beertenders rule. Joel helped us out and was able to find a beer that fit what we liked. He was sick and we’ll definitely be back. Felt like home, come grab a pint or a pitcher and play some pool!

Not sure why it took me so long to swing by this place. Amazing brewery with plenty of space for a good time. Beers are on point, my fav is Sundown Stout. By far one of my favorite stouts in SD. Wish there was a food truck on the day I went, but that doesn’t take any stars away from this review. Definitely will be coming back!

Google
The beer options were awesome! I like IPAs and the few I tried were very good! The space is super chill with a pool table and table tennis, very welcoming! Definitely recommended!

Google
Love the vibe here. Large open space. Indoor outdoor. Highlight was the live music. There was a band playing outside on the stage. we Only tried 2 beers but will be back 🤓

Yelp
The best brewery in north county San Diego! Great beer and even better folks behind the bar! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I really like this brewery tucked away in a business park like many others in Vista. They have a really big space where they even have excellent burgers being sold onsite as well. The beers they are tapping are also really great. I really like the green eyed amber. I recommend this place.

Yelp
I appreciate places that have food, drink, live music and entertainment all in one place. This brewery does just that! They have lounge like seating, open floor concept, bar seats, merch, and pool tables available. Outside patio is equipped with an outside tap bar, currently Party Burgers for food, a stage, standing tables and picnic tables around and by the stage. The stage is a great feature for the Live Music scene!! There is ample room if you like to dance too. Staffers had an even keel temperament. Not overly friendly nor rude. Seemed they had a "we're there simply to do our job" kinda vibe. I can't speak on the burgers yet but the food trailer provided the area with a yummy aroma! I'd like to go back to try it. *note it can get loud when the bands are playing here so don't forget your ear plugs so you can hear the music better. *previously I liked when they had comfortable seating in the entrance area but it has been replaced with arcade machines. Good to know they are one of the ones that are still in operation for the locals to enjoy!

Yelp
Unfortunate that I have to write this, but my experience here was not good. The service was disappointing. Three bartenders, two females and one male, not one smile or acknowledge the line. No "I'll be right with you," no recommendations, nothing friendly. It felt like asking for a sample was a problem. This all well-being very mellow, In there. The line was short, maybe two people, but it still took forever it felt like. I had two beers, both times the vibe was the same, no smile, just "what do you want." I asked about food at 8:26 and was told the kitchen stops around 8:30 usually, but it's been kinda slow tonight. Not sure what that meant but nobody even checked. I ordered a Mexican lager, but no lime offered, had to go back up and ask for one. Overall, I didn't get to try the food, the beer wasn't great, and the service wasn't friendly or good. Two stars only because of the live bands playing, otherwise it would be one.

Yelp
Got there at 8 last night with my gal pal. First impression it takes a minute to get oriented, first interaction with staff, stuck up and outright rude female bar keeper . She was very snuggly with her male counterparts but with more eye contact and polite patronage she responded like a human. But otherwise very rude to my friend who bought drinks. I was tempted to say out loud this employee is being mean to you... but eh, seems the vibe. Sad because I rated their oside location as 5 stars. Truth be told, ageism and pick me attitude is obvious sweetheart. I liked your leopard jeans and how you were pissed off to serve. It's safe to say, if you are first time coming, there is adversarial push back. But if you are wearing cowboy boots and faded, you might get nicer treatment. 2 stars because they had a real stage.

Yelp
Went in for food and beer to go. Female blonde bartender looked annoyed that we even interrupted her conversation with a patron. Kind of just picked up the payment machine and shoved it to us with the screen facing us like she didn't even want to talk to us. Food was really good though, especially the chicken burger.
google avatar

Yelp
Still a cool place to hang. They have a pool table and a ping pong table. Big space for everyone to find a seat and even for kids to run around. I got their blueberry seltzer, it was good but had a weird smell to it, not sure if it was the glass, the drink or just my nose. My husband got 3 beers. He enjoyed it. My toddler enjoyed running around and playing with the ping pong ball. Good environment! They also have food outside and a good amount of seating.
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite Breweries in Vista! The beer is phenomenal, and the venue is laidback and inviting. Free ping pong, fooseball, and pool! (You never see that). Plus they have amazing live music a few times throughout the week. The music lineups are super diverse ranging from acoustic to hard metal. I have even seen WuTang play here live! Party Burger in the back is great, and they honestly have some of the best tallow fried wings you will ever find. Only $1 a wing on Wing Wednesday!!
google avatar

Tim O.

Yelp
One of my favorite beer spots in North County SD. Great beers. Pool and ping pong are free to play! Party burger is also here and probably my favorite smash burger in SD. Great wings and fries too.
google avatar

Dani S.

Yelp
Fun place to hangout with a group. Large outdoor patio area. Lots of beer choices on tap. Also serves some food although menu is very limited. Ordered some food, portion size was very small and burgers are all a la carte and does not come with fries. It was also super greasy. Definitely no healthy choices. Parking lot is small, but plenty of street parking.
google avatar

Lillian W.

Yelp
Great beers! Gonzo Mania was my fav! I very rarely look at merch, but Booze Brothers had me picking through all their cool gear. While it's not my usual vibe, this spot has such a fun vibe. A little industrial with a splash of greenery everywhere. Music is in that punk rock family and everyone seems to really enjoy themselves and sing along. There's a pingpong table, some games, and a nice outdoor space. Picked up a 4 pack on my way out but I think I'll be back soon to grab more!
google avatar

Barb G.

Yelp
Awesome location. Loved the rustic interior. Service as quick and friendly. Had the Something about Berry seltzer and husband had Los Hermanos Mexican Lager. Solid choices. Party Burger was yummy too!!

June W.

Yelp
Been going to Booze Bros since they opened the beer is consistently solid and I love that they are always looking for ways to level themselves up with events and adding to the tap room to make it fun for everyone. We just did a brewery crawl and everyone said this was their favorite stop of the day.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a great place with a nice outdoor area. Most beers are gluten reduced and they usually have a seltzer for those that can't drink beer but their friends/family do.
google avatar

Alice L.

Yelp
Went a while ago but forgot to write a review. Friend and I met up for a work dinner. It's very spacious with the indoor and outdoor area. I really liked seeing all the live plants around. Service was super friendly and chill. We ordered at the bar and then some burgers at the truck outside. Bomb. I had two drinks and forgot the exact names but one was more sour and the other was IPA. I liked the IPA more cause it went well with my burger. Their fries are done well and thiccc.

Yelp
It was my first time here to see a show to see Los Paisanos which did an amazing job! What a beauty this spot is. You can genuinely tell love and creativity was put into every corner of this place. We had burgers from the food spot outside and they were so good! I think the pool table is a plus all breweries should have!
google avatar

Yelp
They've got good beer. Flavorful beer. If you know anything about the San Diego craft beer scene, you know it's crazy competitive. You have to be really good to succeed. I'm guessing these guys know what they're doing. It's a huge space, both inside and out. The outdoor patio is especially spacious. It's both kid-friendly and very dog-friendly. I love dogs but they were quite noisy and not well-behaved during my visit. The kids were far better behaved than the canines, no question. I know that observation will disturb the kid-haters. I give huge bonus points to any brewery with fresh food food on-site. They've got their own pizza business here. I didn't try any food but the pizza looked great. I went with a flight of four 4-ounce beers. The chocolate vanilla swirl was just as good as it sounds. The green-eyed amber was somewhat sweet and definitely delicious. I'm not an IPA guy but the 1-800 Tropics Hazy is a great example of the IPA style. I didn't love the blonde ale but it was fine and is apparently very popular. I was very impressed with this location and the quality of the beers. Next time, I'm trying that pizza. I could see these beers matching well with it. And for goodness sakes, control your doggies.

Yelp
I have long loved this spot for its vibes and amazing beers! Tonight for our weekly happy hour, my friend and I chose Booze Bros - a spot I love so much, I joined their Mug Club! What led me to writing a review was the amazing joy and guest experience Valerie provided. She was so fun! We were enjoying beers outside until a family came in and basically ditched their kid with us. We moved spots and discovered more unsupervised kiddos! I had a quick chat with Valerie about how "family friendly" does not equal "free babysitter". Luckily she only had to back me up when I asked the patron to look after their kiddos. What makes Valerie stand out to me was not just her compassion as a parent of little ones, but her compassion with people who did not go out for happy hour to supervise other people's little ones. Plus she's super fun and had a great playlist going. Just remember- lovely craft beer friends - "family friendly" doesn't mean free babysitting!!! We love enjoying our beers and our dogs in a nice environment, and don't mind sharing the space with you - but that doesn't equal us signing up to be your village - especially when 99% of the people who are walking thru the door are there to drink beer!

Yelp
Nice place for a group, lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Lovely aesthetic, wood/industrial feel. They have a few bar games such as ping pong and pool. There is a permanent "food truck" that serves burgers/fries. I didn't try this but they looked tasty! Only person working behind the bar and she seemed to not be super enthused to be there. (maybe overwhelmed, so I can understand). When I go to a brewery, I appreciate staff who are happy to share information about their beer selections...so I was a little disappointed. However, the 2 beers I had were great and I like that you can choose from 3 different sizes. Plenty of parking in the lot or on the street, dog friendly. I will be back and will try the burger/fries next time! And I will remember to take photos!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a great spot for a group. They have games such as ping pong and pool and a nice outdoor space. There is a party burger that offers food. Would definitely go again.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice place. Patio is big. Inside has lots of room too. Very friendly staff. Good place to have a group of friends to hang out with anytime

Yelp
Amazing spot, awesome outside seating, and neat inside games/decor, plus live music. However, the live music is insanely loud. If they took away the speakers and played at a normal sound level this place would be my go-to spot. But it's just wayyy too loud once the live band starts.

Kathryn G.

Yelp
Wow!!! Where to start. The place is amazing! From the time you walk in to sit down..place is just so so cool. Decor, plants etc. captures your attention. The beer is delicious!!! People behind bar are so friendly. Then their food..can order from the bar from your phone.Best pizza ever! One of our favorite spots. Have taking friends and family it's now their favorite spot.

Yelp
We really loved our visit to Booze Brothers Brewing. It is one of the best breweries we have been to in some time. We got two different flights of beers and every beer just tasted good. We ended up getting some of the Watermelon beer to go it was so tasty! They have a big place, but not a ton of seating. We enjoyed being able to sit outside and enjoy a beautiful Saturday in SoCal! The service was very good and answered all our questions. The atmosphere was good, but there were several screaming kids while we were there. It was a little loud for us. You also have to try the pizza that is on property, it is some of the best pizza I have ever had! We got the BBQ pizza and The Don (so good!!)
google avatar

McKenna C.

Yelp
Came here at around 1:30pm on a Monday so it wasn't crowded. They allow dogs to be both inside and outside. The bartender was very nice and the beer was inexpensive. Would go here again.
google avatar

Briley D.

Yelp
they love me here. literally I am a celebrity. There is always a crowd waiting for me and pizza nibbles to look forward to as my humans can never come here and not get their amazing pizzas!!! the yummy sausage!!! and my humans love all the hanging ferns and ambiance of the place! This visit though was special as my cousin and aunt were with me and ended up adopting a puppy who was looking for a forever home right here! how amazing is this? I now have another playmate to look forward to run around with!
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
Great beer & pizza in a cool outdoor venue to see some good music by @kelpbeds Only bummer was the staff cleared our pizza (1/2 of a pie) while we were dancing and no one fessed up to it!
google avatar

Cliff M.

Yelp
Super fun place. Cool atmosphere. Great Beer. Awesome service and the Smash Burgers are incredible.
google avatar

Amy K.

Yelp
Liked all their beers. Especially. Ruby grapefruit, mixed berry jam limited edition, amber ale and mango hazy IPA. Try it out! I only came during Covid a few weeks ago for pick up. I can tell the interior is very cool hang out spot when things open up again (like now).
google avatar

Gavin P.

Yelp
The place is a great atmosphere. Everyone is so nice here. Great service. The food was good. "The don" is my favorite pizza there. And the ranch is amazing
google avatar

Joe L.

Yelp
One of my favorite breweries. I'm not in the area much, but when I am, Booze Brothers is a must. The vibe is very cool, plus the food from Pizza Brothers is really good (and nicely priced). The Japanese-style lager was excellent! I don't like gose-style beers much, but theirs were excellent! kicked
google avatar

Vincent C.

Yelp
I've always heard good things about Booze Bros so I finally had the opportunity to check them out. I'm pretty open to drinking any kind of beer but not the biggest fan of sours. I came in and had a few of their beers but my favorite was the 1-800-Tropics!!!!!! If you're ever in the area check them out!!
google avatar

Jenn C.

Yelp
First came here years ago, before I had a kid. Beers were good then, and continue to be good now, though as a parent I now have a special appreciation for all the wide, open, hangout space. Kids and dogs welcome. Came here a couple of days ago and enjoyed the 1-800 tropical hazy as well as the funky peach. 1-800 was a solid hazy IPA. Funky peach is not my typical type of beer, as it's a bit tart and fruity, but I enjoyed trying something new. It's a nice beer for warm weather (which we are still having in San Diego even though it's late October). Another interesting one on the menu was the Mai Tai beer, but this one I really could not get behind. Less like a beer and more like a wine cooler, though I guess I should have expected this from the name. Overall, solid, fun brewery.
google avatar

Andrew R.

Yelp
I've been here several times and while the beer selection is pretty great, the staff is hit or miss. One time I came they were playing old DC punk rock like Fugazi, Minor Threat, and the Kennedys as it was most "guy" crowd. The ping pong and pool tables are also great. However, recently they let patrons keep dogs OFF LEASH. It's a legal and safety issue. This is a craft brewery, not a sanctioned dog park. When I came in with my dogs ON LEASH I had to leave.
google avatar

Alden C.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the beers from this brewery! For Booze Brothers I had four of their beers, all of which I really liked! I had a couple different lagers. One was the Slightly Amused Lager which was a slightly fruited lager. Sometimes I am concerned with how heavy a fruited beer can get but this lager was light and very easy to drink! The other lager was the Warish Lager which was a Czech premium lager. This one definitely had a different taste than the fruited one but I really liked the crisp, clean flavor features that this beer had. Aside from the two lagers I had the Good Guy. This was a grapefruit pale ale which was very refreshing. I always am on the lookout for grapefruit style beers. They are usually light in texture and I love the bitter citrus flavor. This one meets that quite well! The final beer I had was the Chocolate Vanilla Swirl, a brown ale. Like it's namesake it does indeed taste like chocolate and vanilla swirled ice cream. Very unique which is another characteristic I am always looking for. The swag with this brewery is a lot of fun too and I bought about four or five shirts over time. Definitely a good brewery experience!

Yelp
Im literally sitting here at Booze Brothers as I type. They close at 10. They started cleaning and they turned off the projection off that displays the beers, at 9. Since when was 9 the new 10pm? I saw a group walk in and the beer tender said you can only have one drink. They all walked out, said no thank you. What kind of service is that?! Why are you turning down business??! That really irks me. I like supporting all breweries around town, but that's cool.

Erik J.

Yelp
Went in a Friday. The brewery itself is great. Cool venue with indoor/outdoor space and live music some nights. The inside has some benches, tables, a pool table, small arcade, etc. The outside has a great patio area with heaters. This would have been a 5-star review except their food service is so bad, it's laughable. If you're going to offer food at a brewery, have it be a decent experience (the bar is so low for food because people are drinking).... They have this burger place outside on the property called "Party Burgers". It's anything but a party. It's laughable, frustrating, and so unbelievably disorganized I don't know how they even offer food with a straight face. It's literally 3 young guys (I love the hustle) who are probably late teens or early 20's trying to sling burgers and fries. You wait in line and order and then it's chaos. They don't take your name, don't provide you a number, nothing to distinguish what you have ordered whatsoever. So they end up taking a ton of orders and have no idea who ordered what. Then when a burger comes out they walk around the property literally asking people if you ordered a burger, did you have cheese on yours, did you have a chicken sandwich, Did you have french fries as a side? They have no idea who ordered what. It took almost 50 minutes to get our burger which was a joke. I will say when we got it, the burger was absolutely delicious. The delicious burger was over-shadowed by the process. All you want after drinking is some food and you want it quick. A really good burger should take more than 20 minutes. If you go over and ask them for an update on when your Burger is going to be ready, they have no idea because again they have no idea what you ordered . Just get slightly organized and hand people a ticket. Or a number. Or take their name down so you can call their name. Such a simple fix would make this experience much better.

Yelp
I didn't really know what to expect. I have a long list of new breweries / tap rooms I'm working through. On the night I went, I had a cousin from out of state that was in town and wanted to meet up. Told him to meet me at this spot and we'd check it out together. Overall pleasantly surprised. The outside patio is clean, and given the pandemic, appropriately distanced. The pourer (bartender?) was super nice. Had answers if we had questions for any of the beers, made suggestions. Pricing was super reasonable. Overall a pleasant and cost efficient way to kill a few hours. My only small gripe is that they close a little early. Would have liked to stay a bit longer and grab a few more drinks.
google avatar

Phillip L.

Yelp
Great beer! I stopped by to try this place out with a flight. Nice IPA's and dark beers but I really liked the blueberry sour the best.
google avatar

Marisela S.

Yelp
This was a hidden gem our friend took us to while we were in town and it did not disappoint. We came on a popular night, there were food trucks, there was some type of video premier. The beers were good, the selection was wide and plenty to choose from depending what type of beer you are into. the space was super cute outside, very outdoorsy, very intimate. We stayed here for quite a while and the service was great too. I have no complaints, and would totally come back.
google avatar

Kevin H.

Yelp
Met up with some friends for a happy hour. We ordered a few pints and were able to try a few of their beers. I tried the Spanish Caravan, Penny Blonde, and Courage Lager. All were good, the Penny Blonde was my favorite! They also had pizza to eat which was very good. I'm not sure if the pizza is always there or if it was a food truck as the pizza was not (I think?) affiliated with Booze Brothers. The ambiance was pretty cool as well. We sat outside which was nice with the warm SD summer weather. We'll be back again!
google avatar

Yadi E.

Yelp
Awesome brewery! The decorations, seating, and staff were very cool! And most importantly the beer was really good too. I ordered the peachy monkey and it was perfect for my palette. We also tried the good guy pale ale that was also tasty. Really cool open seating, there are benches, bar stools, and an entire outside area with seating too. There was a food truck and there is live alternative music on the weekends.
google avatar

Marinee A.

Yelp
Great venue, great beer, great service. Will definitely be back. Pizza was really good too!
google avatar

Vishal D.

Yelp
Given the number of breweries I visited during this evening, this definitely stood out. The staff was friendly, there was a lot of options for following social distancing, and the service was great in catering and offering choices for your taste. The options for drinks was a mile long. Enjoyed the ambiance and enjoyed the music. Would highly recommend.
google avatar

Sally S.

Yelp
Bar staff is very chill, man do they really provide an all around good time. I don't drink so I usually just sit at the bar with a cheesy bros and Diet Coke. Clientele is very..... interesting. A bit triggering seeing parents bring their kids to run around the bar and not pay attention to them... as I myself was raised by neglectful alcoholics but the playlists they've got going here usually make up for it. Love the psych rock vibes every Friday too , cheers!

Peyton S.

Yelp
Booze Brothers has more than earned their 5 star rating. Shortly after I sat down with my leaned dog on the patio, an unleashed dog came running up to him. My dog is friendly but reactive so he was quite nervous and I had to pick him up while he was barking and freaking out over this unknown dog coming toward him. One of the bartenders saw what happened and she not only told the other customer to go get their dog (since they were being totally oblivious) but also gave me a free beer and a shot to make up for the inconvenience that wasn't her fault at all. Absolutely amazing customer service. Plus, the beers are tasty, and there's a great pizza place onsite with fantastic lunch deals. I'll definitely be returning. Highly recommend the Huckleberry Sour and the 1-800 Tropics hazy IPA!

Yelp
Went last Wednesday when they opened to get beer togo! There was a lovely bartender. She was great! Their Japanese rice lager is so good!! Oh also my husband and I got married here 6 years ago! Loved it then and love it now!

Yelp
This review is long overdue, and this is a must try brewery in the North County San Diego area! The beers are delicious, well crafted, thoughtful, and diverse styles, and if Booze Brothers beers weren't enough for ya, they went ahead and created what I believe is a "sister", or rather "brother" brand in Owl Farm fermentations! To top off the great beer and fermentations, they now have pizza (Pizza Bros), and who doesn't want a little nosh with their suds? The space is beautifully done and is not just your run of the mill warehouse tasting room. Parking isn't bad, if there's no room In the lot just go to the street and take a little stroll back, you'll be thankful you did after shamelessly indulging in the delights that await you. There's living plants hanging and sitting throughout, hard at work mind you, cleaning the space's air, and a mix of thrifted, hand-crafted, and upcycled furniture and fixtures - rumor has it that the original benches outside were made from pieces of the old Oceanside pier! They also host art shows and live music to showcase other local talent. The owners of this business are in fact brothers, as the name states, and two damn good guys at that. It's quite impressive to see what they've created over the years, as the business continues to grow, and at this point it seems safe to say that the sky is the limit for these guys! Started with the one spot and moderate space, then slowly but surely it just kept expanding, I expect not only to meet the demand of their business, but also their goals and aspirations. To sum it up the best I can, this place is truly special, and was honestly built by a collaboration of really awesome, passionate, and talented people's blood, sweat, and probably some tears. It's a true gem. Note: They've expanded with locations in downtown Oceanside and Fallbrook now!
