"We were certainly sad to see the original Santa Monica location bite the dust, but the downtown Border Grill is still going strong, and it’s time to take advantage. The large, Financial District location definitely gives off a corporate vibe, but the food holds up. Everything from their ceviche to their carnitas tacos to their skirt steak is worth ordering, and the vibe inside is always very relaxed. And at $30 for unlimited tapas and $8 bottomless mimosas, their brunch situation is very serious." - Brant Cox

Had brunch here and I was not disappointed. Had a wide selection of things to choose from. Staff was helpful and in a great mood.

Not an authentic experience of Mexican food, but a really good version of it. Rice was good, and that is saying a lot when ti comes to Mexican restaurants. Rice is important and normally is overlooked and dismissed as just filler. Their salsa is delicious, and it is very none spice liking accessible. Nice setting, friendly staff.

Dinner for two at a Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles should not cost $120.Guacamole ($10), Two margaritas each ($12-$15 a piece) that weren't very good and got Skirt Steak ($26) and Chicken Enchiladas ($23). The Steak was good, the Enchiladas were horrible. Honestly, just go to Del Taco, buy a $30 bottle of Tequila and you'll have better tasting Mexican and a much better buzz.

I had a good experience with this place. The only downside is the meals are a little on the pricier side for a Mexican place, especially for something that is a few blocks in from Ocean. However, service and atmosphere was excellent. Food quality was good as well and there were a few unique options for vegetarians.

We made the mistake of going the day most of the staff was down the street at Festival Supreme. Oddly they crammed most people along the wall even though there was plenty of space. It took so long for anyone to come over we decided against all you can eat brunch. Good thing we did because service was quite scarce once food came. At the end of the meal the hostess came by and took our plates along with the chips, which we were actively eating. I don't think she actually asked us if we were done. I usually like this place but they need to rethink their staffing during events.

Nothing groundbreaking. You can get authentic Mexican dishes at more reasonable prices at mom and pop restaurants. Pomegranate lemonade was unsweetened and only tasted like lemon juice and water. Chips and salsa were good.

This was a stop for the Six Taste food tour and we had a lot of fun here! (Wasn't a fan of the high chairs though) We had: Plantain Empanada- Enjoyed this a lot! It was a nice combination of sweet and savory. Plus I love plantains. Peruvian White Fish Ceviche- LOVED this dish. The white fish texture bit back which I adore. Not too soft, not too firm. Perfect for ceviche! I'd totally get this again. Potato Taco- I didn't want to get too full so I only had a nibble of this. The taco shell was heavy duty, and inside were potato cubes. I wouldn't get this again, but I did enjoy the salsa and fresh guacamole on top. Chips & 3 Salsas - The chips tasted really fresh, and I fell in love with the cilantro tomatillo sauce. I'd drink it as shots! They were accommodating, and gave us a free cookie along with a free dessert coupon for our next visit. Oh yea, and some of tour participants got their Jalapeno Cucumber Margarita, which is their specialty drink. It sounded like it had a major kick, and someone from the group described it as "spicy Mexican candy" ? If that's your thing, order it! :) Thanks for being a part of Six Taste!

My wife and family had dinner at the Border Grill last Saturday and it was a great experience. The food has great favor. I would recommend the $30 appetizer, meal and desert combo. Excellent!
