The 15 Best Restaurants In Key West

"Our favorite kind of Key West restaurant is an open-air spot mostly made of wood that smells like fried fish. BO's Fish Wagon is the best example of this genre. The little shack serves our favorite seafood sandwiches on the island—cracked conch, fried shrimp, grouper, and more options that all come on soft Cuban bread. One of those and the excellent conch fritters are exactly what you should focus on here. We like this place for lunch since it’s quick and casual, but it’s also worth stopping by for some beers, snacks, and live music on Friday night. " - ryan pfeffer

14 Wonderful Spots to Dine in Key West

"Slightly off the beaten path, this spot resembles a shack built out of driftwood more than a wagon, but it offers great fish options. The hardest choice is grilled or fried and whether to have a platter, taco, or sandwich. Otherwise, the menu is straightforward and always tasty." - Amber Love Bond

Where to Eat in the Florida Keys

"Epitomizing the relaxed vibe of Key West, this colorful venue made from driftwood welcomes diners with a junk car swathed in bumper stickers. The menu is a straightforward array of fresh seafood caught from the docks a few blocks away, along with the prerequisite burger. The fried conch sandwich is a must, as is an order of gigantic onion rings." - Alona Martinez

Google
What do you know, another Key West spot with immaculate vibes. Such a chill little location. The guy who took our order was so nice, took the time to chat up every customer a little bit. The grouper sandwich is excellent. Picture doesn’t do it justify. It’s a very simple, no frills sandwich, they have a key lime mayo that I’d recommend getting on the side to dip your fries in also. This place rocks.

Fried conch plate was delicious! The breading wasn't thick and it was Seasoned very nice. Fish sandwich had a good portion of fish and was Seasoned well. Great food and good value for the area. The Atmosphere was one of the funnest spots in Key west with a great vibe and awesome customer service. I will go again just to hang with the owners!

Google
What a fun place to eat! We split the fish sandwich and fries. The fried fish was great but I would have loved a bigger piece. The fresh cut fries were yummy. Going to try the fish and chips next time.

Google
From the outside it doesn’t look like your typical restaurant. The decor kept my interest during my entire visit. Aside from that though the seafood was delicious! The sandwiches are a good size with lots of fish options. I gave the fried conch a try and it was amazing. I will definitely eat here again.

Google
My favorite place to get a delicious grouper sandwich or platter on Key West! Service is quick and the fish is fresh! The atmosphere is pretty much a shack which is unique and gives it a rustic feel!

Google
Five stars for this unique breakfast/lunch/experience. Rough as old boots, but great food at a great price. Order at the window, and take a (rickety) seat; they deliver your order to your table. Fish tacos recommended. A must-visit while in old town Key West.

Google
Fun little place with funky decor, but the perfect KW vibes!! Counter order, and they bring your food to the table. Very informal! We ordered the conch fritters and fries. Delicious treat and freshly made. It’s very laid back, and the floors are uneven, so just be aware. But wonderful otherwise!

Google
Fun eclectic funky ppace built around a food truck with fresh seafood and come as you are but know what you want attitude. Grouper was excellent as were the fish tacos. Owner was curmudgeonly but great.

Yelp
We were freshly dropped off the hotel shuttle and wanted to grab breakfast. They offer water for the dog and seating inside so it checked all the boxes. Breakfast was great. Atmosphere was certainly cool. Perfect way to start our day. Stop by!

Yelp
Heard many positive things about Bo's and would say mostly true. The fish sandwich was very good as the fish is cooked well and the bread used was soft and tasty! I found a bit pricy for what you got but glad I tried their food. Ambience is your typical keys seafood shack with license plates and other signage you'd find in hole in the wall type establishments. Service was ok. You order at a counter and they call your number. Nothing special.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to eat and I have been visiting this location for decades. I still feel this is the best place for a grouper sandwich and cracked conch. This is a come as you are dive location but the food is fantastic. Order at the counter and they bring out your food. As for ambience, I would say it has a rustic beach feel. Shirts and shoes optional.
google avatar

Sharon D.

Yelp
Delicious fish tacos at this quaint little dive. We got the grilled mahi mahi with fries and sat at the counter bar overlooking the street. It was later in the evening, so they were out of the yellowtail snapper, but these were so good, I can't complain. It would have been nice to mix and match, but that isn't an option. No matter, we enjoyed every bite!
google avatar

Candid A.

Yelp
Looks are deceiving, but the food is fantastic! The conch fritters are one of the best! Don't be afraid of the long lines, as they move fast. All of the fried food is my favorite.

Ruth M.

Yelp
Really tiny piece of fish for $17. Don't bother. Way better options, fresher fish for less money elsewhere. Would not recommend bathroom either.
google avatar

Tim G.

Yelp
Food was great. Had the grilled mahi-mahi with the side black bean rice dish. Great portions, and excellent taste. The establishment lacked some cleaning tho - thus the 4 star rating.

Yelp
When ever in keywest this is a must see place. They have one of the best grouper sandwiches anywhere. I love how its put on cuban bread. Yes its very hot in the summer without AC but its worth sropping in for a delicious sandwich. T

Rebecca K.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Don't let the ambiance fool you! I had the best grouper sandwich I have ever had here. The service was great and friendly. I highly recommend eating here!
google avatar

Alicia M.

Yelp
The food was okay. It wasn't bad, we just didn't feel there was anything special to it and very basic. The staff were so friendly and kind. This is a cute little spot where they have outside seating and lots of beach vibe decor everywhere. Price was very reasonable. Seems like a good spot if you have kids in your party.

Yelp
Fresh and delicious We will miss ll this place the most. The food and atmosphere. Accommodating service Byob

Yelp
What can I say Bo's Fish Wagon is a hole in the wall with great food. Not only did some friends rave about Bo's, but Bo's came highly recommended by our cab driver, needless to say we were sold on checking it out! Literally we placed an order at the counter and had it within 10 minutes. Everything was fresh and delicious, just what you expect and want from a funky Key West fish restaurant.
google avatar

Natalia W.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food. Hot and fresh fish cleaned on site. The salad was also fresh and delicious. Great customer service. Thank you!
google avatar

Jenny C.

Yelp
We had a quick and easy meal here - not fancy but large portions, fresh, and tasty. An economical decision with friendly staff - especially after being treated less than appreciated at the larger nearby seafood Support the nice people!
google avatar

Yelp
2 meals one day. Thats how good Bo's is. Seriously, lunch was so good that we came back for dinner the same day. The conch sandwich (had it for lunch and dinner) has large pieces of conch unlike anywhere else weve seen in the Keys. Fried to perfection - not too chewy and seasoned just right. We also had the grilled mahi sandwich (lunch) and the grilled shrimp sandwich (dinner). Both were excellent. Not only is all the fish done right, but the bread. Oh the bread. Normally I don't think much about the bread, but the Cuban-style rolls they use are off the hook. It's super casual atmosphere. Found items meets beach vibe. And the staff is friendly, and they won't give away their secret to the great eats. Seating is an out door/indoor thing. Covered from sun and rain but open so no AC. Bottomline, do not walk, jump on scooter and get yourself to Bo's any and every yime you come to the Keys.

Frank V.

Yelp
If in key west ya have to try to stop by . Great little joint. Slaw dog is my go to . Haven't been in a few years. Going back in January and counting the days. Lots of chicks and cocks running around

Yelp
One good thing about Bo is their grilled shrimp sandwich. Definitely do not miss shrimp sandwich. They have good size Florida pink shrimp. The pink shrimp is sweet and big especially the local shrimp. It is grilled on flat grill plate and top with some type of all bay sauce. The other items we have try include the grouper sandwich. Which I am disappointed. Tiny pieces and expensive. We also have local white fish with rice. We feel the gem of the restaurant is still the pink shrimp. The restaurant is just like a shack on the parking lot. But they did attract a lot of customers. The restaurant is open air. Function-able. Price is in the medium range.

Yelp
This is a great place by the marina. We came here after our excursion snorkeling and dolphin sighting. There were a good amount of people in the restaurant. The cashier was nice and you can see them preparing the food behind the cashier. It was really casual and the person the serves the food was super friendly. My friend ordered a fried fish, but they gave her grilled fish, but the person said it is actually better than the fried fish which will also take longer to cook. My friend was ok with it because she really doesn't eat fried foods so that might actually be a blessing in disguise. I ordered a soft shell crab plate. It was good, I only had soft shell crab in sushi, so this was a good experience.
google avatar

Anthony R.

Yelp
Soft Blue Crab is not an item I would recommend here at this establishment. I had better in Phoenix, Arizona, than Key West, Florida. Wouldn't you think closer to the ocean would be better? And, it is more expensive here in Key West. The Crabs were small. I felt like my two thumps put together will be bigger than one of those grabs. It is cheaper to get the cold slaw, crab, and fries separate. Go somewhere else for Soft Shell Crabs.
google avatar

Lauren G.

Yelp
A small, simple menu that gets it right: you'll have a choice of a couple different fresh catch, grilled or fried, on a plate or a sandwich. I had one of my favorites the day I went, which was yellowtail for $14.95. I usually don't opt for fried, but on a hot day, a fried sandwich sounded right. They put it on Cuban bread with key lime remoulade, LTO, and with a dash of hot sauce, it was really great. Simple, humble Keys food like that is the best!
google avatar

Meexah M.

Yelp
Horrible, horrible experience. Don't eat here if you want your Key West experience not to be tainted with bad behavior from the employee. With so many options in Key West, why take a chance. I really regret eating here based off the reviews on yelp as it Just ruined my day.

Yelp
How can BO's Fish Wagon, a place I've been to for over 30 years still be a secret? BO's might not look like much but it is the perfect place for lunch or dinner when in town. I've enjoyed this open air little piece of Key West heaven for so long that it is one of the few must-go's anytime me or my family is in town. Do not judge a book by its cover - BO's is as legitimate an option as the Pepe's diner down the street, or Mason de Pepe on Mallory's Square - both of which I do recommend, after BO's. Unfortunately sometime in recent years they lost their alcohol license but I have to say it is super cool that they suggest you just BYOB to go along with your dinner. Their fried conch is killer. Their various grilled fish plates, also yes. Yes to everything BO's does. Do yourself a favor and go have one of the most delicious yet uniquely old school Key West experiences you can have and head down to BO's Fish Wagon. They tend to have super friendly staff as well, who tend to find you to bring your food out to your table and ask whatever else they can do for you at that time. I'm 45 and since I was 12 I don't remember anything except good meals, and good times at BO's. I hope this place lasts forever.

Yelp
If you're looking for an authentic Key West experience, look no further. It's a ramshackle collection of table next to a food truck. The women who work there are nice and quick to help. The food is excellent. And there are chickens running around. Cash only. No booze. But there is a bar across the street with beer to go.
google avatar

Chris F.

Yelp
Burger was huge and the famous fish platter was awesome!!! Service was good. Food came out fast.
google avatar

Barrett B.

Yelp
A must have when we go to Key West. Fried fish sandwich is my go to. Parking isn't the best but that's par for the course in KW.
google avatar

Steve B.

Yelp
You can see the boat from whence came the shrimp. It tasted like they were cooked on board that ship by Gordon Ramsay. Make it a point to get here when in KW
google avatar

K R.

Yelp
Cool little place with large portions. Fresh ingredients. Really amazing breakfast. Hidden on the corner.

Lois M.

Yelp
Mahi-Mahi tacos are amazing! They are only open until 9 pm, for your information. Food, service and ambiance are great!.
google avatar

Joe J.

Yelp
Overpriced, overcooked. 17USD for a plain piece of what looked like grocery store fish from the frozen section. Food was dry and underwhelming. I wasn't expecting too much but I was expecting more in the quality dept. Quantity was fine but none of us will be back. Service was ok. With only outside seating. It was hotter than a stolen tamale. No breeze, no fans, just misery. Good reviews are longer. :(
google avatar

Marcos Antonio E.

Yelp
Well BO you did it!!! The BEST HOLE ON THE WALL IN KEY WEST HANDS DOWN!!! The place looks like a scene from the movie Mad Max. I love that movie by the way. A very Key West open traditional environment amazing to me. Chickens and roosters everywhere I love the touch that BO add it by placing a ketchup bottle a plastic restaurant like ketchup bottle fill with water to spray the chickens away as they get closer to your table love it. and let me start with the food grill shrimp tacos oh man to die for conch fritters with his own personal tartar like sauce. The taste combination was amazing and explosion flavors came and visited this location with a group from work not one person was unatisfy in fact they are coming back tomorrow BO you did it you rock and I recommended every day 100%

Yelp
The restaurant is in the corner of a parking lot that many park in to go parasailing, scuba diving or jet sking. A perfect place to grab a sandwich after an exciting morning. It's a Key West style order at the window type of place which is great when everyone is in a bathing suit and really hungry. The Conch Sandwich was huge and incredible. The picture doesn't give it justice to the size and how delicious it was. I've lived in Florida half my life and fished for Grouper many of those years and this might be the best fried Grouper sandwich I've ever eaten. My son enjoyed the Conch Fritters and his twin brother inhaled the mahi mahi sandwich. The land lover of the group finished his burger before everyone else was even close to being done. Another great local restaurant to eat one of the best of not the best sandwiches in Key West. Support the local family owned business especially while recovering from this time in our lives. You'll be happy you did after eating here.
google avatar

Martin P.

Yelp
The meals were fresh and tasty. A nice local find. Don't judge by outside appearance. Would have liked to try others items which had "sold out" by the time we ate. Very friendly staff and a must try for casual dining if in area.
google avatar

Nicole W.

Yelp
Yummy food!! This place was close to where our tour bus dropped us off and had found it on Yelp before our trip so it was definitely going to be our lunch spot. We ordered and took a seat - fish sandwich, shrimp tacos, fish tacos, and burger for my son. I enjoyed my food. They have several tables for seating... not a big place but enough.

Pat B.

Yelp
BO's is a must eat every time we come to Key West. Ordered some food to go tonight, grouper sandwich and shrimp tacos with one side. Guy asked what the second side was and I told him tacos only come with one side. As a reward, I left with no side. Food is still great but check your bag to confirm you have what you ordered.
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
Stopped at BOs for some fish tacos on a beautiful Key West day. The fish tacos were good, but the 5 star review here is really for the FRIES. Listen, get your tacos, but make sure MAKE SURE you get fries as your side. I am a French fry rater by trade (that's something I just made up) and these were a 9.76/10. Amazing. Also, the vibes of this place is great. No nonsense, just tacos and French fries done right.

Jordan B.

Yelp
Bo's fish wagon was amazing ! The shrimp tacos and fries are to die for. It was so good we came back for breakfast which was also great. The breakfast sandwich on Cuban bread is tasty and the French toast bites are delicious!! Staff was super friendly and remembered us!
google avatar

Vicki E.

Yelp
Great food and service! Hilarious ambience! One of our must do stops while in Key West!

Nancy R.

Yelp
We had the best fish tacos there yesterday. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They made us feel so welcomed. I was told the owner had a major medical emergency so they were very worried about him but were still able to put a smile on their faces. Prayers for a speedy recovery. We will definitely be back!

Landon G.

Yelp
Found a cockroach in my food. It was fried in the oil. Wouldn't be surprised if there were more in there. If you want extra protein go for it. THEY DID NOT SEEM CONCERNED!! The people work just shrugged their shoulders.
google avatar

Randall S.

Yelp
Excellent fresh fish. The cole slaw was one of the best I've ever had. I come back every year. Never disappointed!

Michael F.

Yelp
This use to be a great place with nice portions. Now they lost their beer and wine license and the fish is "ok" nothing like a few years back.

Lisa K.

Yelp
The food here was wonderful. Maybe the best fish sandwich I ever had. I had the grouper sandwich and cannot say enough great things about it. Service was wonderful also. Fries were good and we really liked the black beans and rice. It's BYOB if you want to drink though.
google avatar

Nat F.

Yelp
Needed something quick and light before joining Fantasy Fest that night. Everything on Duval was too crowded, so I left that area. I had to try the fried conch, being in Key West and never had it before. They have no beer, but that's OK. I had plenty of time for drinking, on Duval, later that night. The order took a long time to prepare, although I was the only customer there. But I just chilled and enjoyed the eccentric decorations all around me.
google avatar

Victor D.

Yelp
Came here for one thing, the cracked conch sandwich. It was the first time I really had conch, and I really enjoyed it. It kind of tasted like squid in how chewy it was, and because many places batter and fry it, I presume eating it "naked" is a bit of a challenge. The sandwich here was about 15 bucks, which wasn't cheap. However, it was decently sized and after a long day of walking in key west, it was delicious. Nothing seemed to be too fancy about it, just conch, bread, some lettuce, and that's it. Nothing too special, gets the job done here I guess

Yelp
I've been coming to Key West since 1984 and today was my first visit to BO's Fish Wagon. The place looks like a true dive from the outside, but it is clean and tidy in a very island sort of way. There are picnic tables and a self ordering counter. Your food is delivered by kitchen staff. The menu is on a chalk board and currently only soft drinks are served. There is some issue with the city and the liquor license to be worked out. You order your food at the counter. Sandwiches, platters and sides. Nothing fancy. The currently in season soft shell crabs were on the menu at a bit higher price. BO's is not an inexpensive lunch. The platters for example consisted of 2 average sized pieces of fried fish and coleslaw priced $24.95. The 2 small soft shelled crab platter $26.95 and included beans and rice. The black beans and rice had an interesting mixture of onions, green olives and capers. Our party of 5 all enjoyed our meals. One in our party had the Cole slaw dog. It was a big bun with a large hot dog smothered in Cole slaw. Another enjoyed the conch platter and said it was excellent. Also shared were the tempura onion rings which were crispy and large. Our meals were quite tasty. The total for our lunch of 2 platters one soft drink and one tea came to $60 + tip. My reason for a three star rating does not reflect on the quality of food but on the high price for lunch in a dive cafe. Paid parking is available, but often the street and lot are often full.

Yelp
Sadly I had not been back in years and I finally returned recently.... They place still has shock value from the outside since it still looks like junk stacked up for the trash truck to pick up but that's only at first glance. once you get close it starts to make sense and has a totally key west vibe; laid back and come as you are. In the middle of the "organized trash" there is a food truck/trailer in the middle and the guys are still welcoming as they have always been. Not overly excited but laid back just like the restaurant. Last review of this place I said I would not share again, I lied. I wanted to try different things so my hubby and I ordered our favorite things we used to get and shared it all. The Fish sandwich was awesome. The Soft Shell Crab sandwich was even better. And the Conch Fritters were still the exact same as they have been for years. EVERYTHING was YUMMY.

Brittanie M.

Yelp
The food was fantastic. Service was great for how busy the area is. Love the outdoor seating. Great atmosphere.

Jeff S.

Yelp
We were walking around looking For a quick coffee and breakfast sandwich and while wandering around the wharf area we stumbled upon this funky place. It's sort of a shack on the corner that looks a little beat up. We took a chance and ordered a cafe con leche and an iced coffee. Plus a bacon/egg/cheese on Cuban bread. All were terrific! The nice ladies at the counter were friendly and provided us with an awesome meal! Very funky decor complete with baby chicks walking through the place. Fun! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Wanted to give this place another try & although the fish sandwiches were good the prices are not worth it. I had the Mahi sandwich & my wife had grouper + fries, no drinks and tip came to almost $50... not worth it.
