Boskerris Hotel, St Ives (St Ives, Cornwall) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"A patch of Cornish coastline on St. Ives Bay is the setting for the Boskerris Hotel, a Thirties seaside charmer whose most recent renovation has left it looking bright and breezy, both in its pastel-hued rooms and suites and in its cozy yet chic public spaces. It’s intimate in scale, but its restaurant keeps the atmosphere lively; the town of St. Ives proper is a short drive (and an even shorter train ride) away." - Tablet Hotels

Boskerris Hotel, Carbis Bay, near St Ives, Cornwall - Explore & Book

"If you want a masterclass on how to run a boutique hotel, this is the place to go. Once tired and neglected, this 1930s hotel perched on a hillside has been lovingly redesigned and rejuvenated, and the result is a cossetting haven with a breezy, by-the-sea feel and a supremely warm welcome. An adults-only retreat with Carbis Bay’s white-sand beach just below and the buzz of Cornwall's creative hub just around the headland, you couldn't be better placed for a relaxing seaside escape. The ground-floor salon is a wonderful place to linger, with soothing grey walls, floral textiles, deep enveloping chairs, and stacks of books; come evening, candles flicker in hurricane jars and gentle music lulls you into a lazy holiday mood. Above and below, the 15 bedrooms blend soft pastels with eye-catching prints, and beds are positioned to make the most of the ocean views. Best of all, the wide, decked terrace is dotted with cushion-piled sofas where you can sit back and gaze across the bay – and the whole place is infused with the famous Cornish light that has inspired generations of artists. Highs Stunning vistas towards St Ives Harbour in one direction and Godrevy Lighthouse in the otherWatching the sun go down from the terrace with a glass of fizzTasty breakfasts, cream teas and dinners made from local produce, plus plenty of restaurants nearbyA tranquil, relaxing atmosphere (no kids under 16 allowed) – and service with a genuine smileA free car park (a godsend in bustling St Ives)Carbis Bay station (which links the London-Penzance line with St Ives) is just 5 minutes’ walk – so you could leave the car at home Lows If you're expecting St Ives proper, the location may prove a little suburbanDitto if you like low beams and creaking oak doors: this place might feel a little too 20th-centuryNot all the rooms have sea views, though in summer you’ll spend most of your time hanging out on the terrace (open to guests only)The hotel is justly popular – you'll need to book far in advance for high season" - Lesley Gillilan

Boskerris Hotel, St Ives | Best places to stay in Cornwall

"This 1930s-built, chic, boutique hotel outside St Ives is a stunner, with glittering ocean views from most of the rooms, public areas and glass-fronted decking that make the heart soar. Inside, pleasantly gentle seaside hues in the living room and bar, contrast with more vibrant Designers Guild wallpapers and fabrics in the individually decorated bedrooms. It’s family-owned and run by Catherine, who is known for her attention for detail. There’s a mouthwateringly good breakfast and a supper menu, both of which champion local, seasonal produce. It takes time to get there, but it’s a great base for exploring St Ives and the Penwith peninsula. " - Matthew Roach

What a wonderful hotel. Great location with fabulous sea views and a lovely terrace with comfortable seating to admire the view. Just a few hundred yards walk down the hill to the station to catch a train to St Ives, a further walk down the hill to the fantastic Carbis Bay beach. Really spacious room with comfortable bed, lots of storage space, table with 2 armchairs and well equipped bathroom. High quality public areas with a comfortable lounge, bar and dining area. Superb food and drink and lovely friendly staff, they were happy to do anything to help. They go out of their way to show you all areas of the hotel on arrival.

What a delightful hotel! The atmosphere is wonderful--fantastic views, great local art, and comfortable rooms. The staff, especially Ann, are lovely. Everyone was so charming and accommodating. And not to mention the food. Some of the best meals we had on our 2 week stay in England, from the tastiest fish dishes to the scrumptious breakfasts to the ever-so appreciated homemade cookies in our room!||I cannot recommend this hotel enough!

While some aspects of the hotel could use updating, our overall experience was good. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant quality doesn’t quite live up to expectations but I could see others liking it more than we did. We found better value in St Ives. The views of the seaside are stunning. The WiFi barely works and mobile service in the area is not great - but that shouldn’t weigh heavily for anyone looking for the solitude and relaxation one can find here.

We stayed here as a special Golden Wedding treat and what a treat we had!! The hotel is so relaxed with very friendly but professional staff everyone was so friendly and always smiling. We had booked the Celebration room which was amazing with a great view over the bay of St Ives so very comfortable with a comfy bed, coffee making machine, delicious short bread biscuits and fresh bottled water. The food in the dining room was delicious. Breakfast was cooked fresh with a great choice. Evening meals were tasty and always served hot. Nothing was too much trouble and we had four wonderful days, thank you to everyone at Boskerris Hotel for making our special anniversary one that we will never forget.

My daughter and I stayed here for three nights and loved it. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with genuine interest and pleasure. Our room was small but well appointed. The view of the garden and sea was wonderful. The shortbread and bathroom soaps were brilliant. We ate dinner at the restaurant on the first night and it was delicious and actually turned out to be the best meal of our three nights. Other meals in St.Ives were good but this meal was perfect. The breakfasts were a treat too.|We had three wonderful days exploring and loved all the advice given. Thank you!

We’ve just come to the end of a wonderful four night stay at Boskerris. It is a small family run hotel located five minutes’ walk up the hill from Carbis Bay, with magnificent views and terrific wide sandy beaches a few minutes away. Our superior sea view room, whilst not being huge, was very well appointed and had all the features I value in a hotel room - comfortable king size bed with luxury bedding, large and well appointed bathroom, robes and slippers, plenty of storage and hanging space, sockets at counter height, tea and coffee making facilities etc. it was kept immaculately clean and every day freshly cooked biscuits were left for us. The breakfasts were superb and nothing seemed too much trouble for the chef. Which brings me on to the staff in general who, without exception, were all so completely charming and helpful. Finally, there is a little coastal train at the bottom of the hill that runs every half an hour into St Ives until fairly late in the evening and only takes three minutes. . Given that parking in St Ives is a nightmare we were so pleased to be staying at Carbis Bay with easy access to St Ives by train or walking, but away from the melée. I can’t recommend the hotel highly enough.

Yelp
The Boskerris is the epitome of fine service and sets the standard very high for other hotels in this category. The experience starts when you walk in and are greeted by the exceedingly fabulous staff (all of them from the check in crew to bartender, wait staff, cleaning staff etc. are ridiculously good) who start taking care of you the moment you step foot through the doors to when you leave. Case in point : we got there sooner than the check in time so had to wait for the room to be readied. We were seated in the guest area which by the way is just the perfect decor to complement the fabulous view of Carbis Bay and offered tea. In the conversation we happened to mention that the spousal unit was vegan...and magically all the hotel staff, even people we had not seen seemed to know about it and importantly remember it when we ordered any food or snacks and made attempts to make sure she had something vegan to consume. The room was spare yet well appointed and lacking for nothing and had a great view of the garden. Morning breakfast is sumptuous with fresh fruit, a killer home made granola, hot breakfast made to order, juices, coffee and tea. Impeccable service is the motto and when your day starts like this, how can it even dare to get bad? The classic English breakfast takes the interpretation of perfectly poached eggs, beautiful toast, charred baby tomatoes on the vine, a grilled portobello, a bit of grilled goat cheese. Of course with the crazy good service, someone had bothered to go and get vegan sausage for my wife which had her swooning. Dinner one night had them making Moroccan veggies for the wife and I had a carpaccio appetizer with a fish for dinner. Everything was perfectly cooked, served and consumed! The entire stay in these altogether pleasant surroundings, with friendly and attentive service capped a perfect holiday. If we win the lotto...we are taking up semi permanent residence there!
