12 Great Summer Dining Spots in the Hamptons

"If your idea of the perfect Hamptons meal involves seafood and a water view, this longtime favorite filled with locals should be on the list. Crowds gather to watch dazzling sunsets and down local oysters; goat cheese and fig salad; heaping bowls of steamers; fish tacos; steamed lobsters, and other items made with local catch fresh off the boat." - Beth Landman

Google
Bostwick's on the Harbor features a casual setting with a lovely view of the harbor, making it a great spot for a relaxed meal. The ambiance complements the delicious seafood offerings, creating an inviting atmosphere for diners to enjoy both the food and the scenery. They offer a delightful dining experience with some standout dishes. The steamed mussels, infused with a subtle Thai coconut curry flavor, are a highlight and incredibly satisfying. The main course of sesame-seared yellowfin tuna is excellent, showcasing a perfect balance of flavors and textures. However, the steakhouse swordfish, while tasty, suffers from a small portion size, leaving diners wanting a bit more. The service can be hit or miss. Our server was not around most of the time, however a very nice lady who served us before, helped us even we weren’t her section. Basically she made the experience much better. Overall, it's a great spot for seafood lovers looking for unique flavors and quality dishes.

My family & I went to Bostwick’s on the Harbor in East Hampton NY for the VERY FIRST TIME yesterday, and I have to say we were EXTREMELY IMPRESSED! 🥳❤️ I was so impressed that I took the time to make a youtube video that highlights our experience in further detail … feel free to copy and paste the following phrase on YouTube: “ #SeafoodReview of Bostwicks On The Harbor in East Hampton, New York🐟#thehamptons “ to get more details! The location is right on the water and in the heart of East Hamptons, with ample free parking which was awesome 😎 Right when we entered the establishment, the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The ambiance is very chill, and is a lovely place where you can have great convo with your family & friend, which is always a plus 🥰 The FOOD WAS AMAZING! We tried several dishes: from the rum punch which was nice and strong (and not too sweet exactly how I like it), to the crispy calamari which was literally THE BEST CALAMARI IVE HAD TO DATE! cooked to perfection, super crispy and tender and well seasoned WOW 🤩! [im a huge seafood lover & make fried calamari at home with my eyes closed, so for me to say i loved their calamari, i really LOVED it! we also tried the Mongolian bbq ribs, their truffle Parmesan fries, pistachio crusted swordfish && their seafood pasta (with scallops, shrimp, and lobster) and it was Amazing! I WILL 10000% be coming back here again and again this summer this is a place you definitely have to check out 🥰🤩

Google
This was an easy 5-star review all around! Stunning location, open only during the Hamptons season (roughly May through October) so get there while you can. You will be mesmerized by gorgeous sunsets and phenomenal views of the harbor. The food was excellent and very fresh. The wait is long and they do not take reservations, so come with the expectation that you will wait a while… BUT, the plus side is you can grab a cocktail and wait by the water as you hang out in this beautiful location. My favorite appetizer is the stuffed clams (a must-have) and for an entree you can’t go wrong with the seafood pastas or any fish entree!

Google
The noise level was the only problem. I thought the food was excellent. Drinks before were great. Service exceptionally good. The hostesses were warm and helpful. I can’t wait return. Earlier perhaps and maybe on a weeknight! Sunset was grand but we were two days late for aurora borealis I’m sorry to say. Thank you.

Google
Can’t beat a wedding anniversary dinner on the water! My husband and I love coming here — friendly staff, consistently great food and speedy service. We never feel rushed. Save room for the desserts!

Google
One of our favorite Easthampton restaurants… Everything is delicious and the service is tops. We loved our server, Christina. She’s terrific. Favorites are all the fish dishes, lobster roll and steamers.

Google
Great upscale “dive bar” and one of my favorite places to get a lobster roll. Come for the food and sunsets, stay for the people watching. I recommend coming early as parking and tables can be hard to get at times. But seriously, can’t go wrong with sunsets from this place, one of my favorite places to grab a drink and soak in the golden hour.

Google
This was a great place to go for dinner even with a big group/kids. They don't take reservations so we got there right around 5pm and luckily we were seated right away (2 families with 9 people) on the outdoor balcony with views of the water. It was during the week and right when they opened so not as busy. The seafood menu had a good variety and the service was great.. Note: it's different than Bostwicks Chowder House menu which is much more casual. We will definitely return on our next trip!

Yelp
While the appetizer mussels, the main Yellowfin Tuna and service were great, it's disappointing when portion sizes don't match expectations--especially for something like swordfish $39(4-bite size). A bit more on the plate would have made it perfect!

Yelp
We came here on a day trip to the Hamptons and had a wonderful dinner! The restaurant is right on the harbor (as the name would suggest lol) and it felt so luxurious to be eating next to a stunning view of the sunset over the dock and sailboats. The food itself was excellent - for apps, we shared the fish tacos and the baked clams (both super yummy!). I wasn't super hungry so got the fig salad for my main entree and it didn't disappoint. Service was attentive. A truly memorable meal!

Yelp
This place is a reminder of life. It has its ups and downs. When the food comes out right, it is great. But when it comes out wrong, it sucks. The food when it came out right was AMAZING... BUT.... we had to send it back once before they got it ri The Shishito peppers were amazing. The scallops (when cooked properly) were very good. Our server was great. The ambiance is very casual. Overall I would rate this spot a 3.5

Yelp
My 4 stars is a very good not just good!!!!! I sat at the bar, and the bar tender, she was great. Friendly, happy and more than welcoming. We decided together I should order the fluke. Mostly because it is a local fish and as fresh as can be, and it was everything I had hoped it would be and even more. The flavorful rice it sat on top of was a great carb along with perfectly cooked asparagus. I started with New England clam chowder, and it was tasty but a tad too thick. Crowded for an mid-June Monday but I found a seat at the bar at around 715 PM. maybe the restaurant with the best view in the Hamptons, particularly for sunset. As is the case in all of the East End restaurants, you will not find a deal. All are expensive. Bostwick's is a bit too as well. But if you are going to pay a premium, you may was well eat good, well-prepared food and that's exactly what you can expect here.

Yelp
Best dinner in East Hampton! Service was wonderful! They don't take reservations, but the wait was well worth it.

Yelp
Love, love, love this place! The view! The food! I had the fig salad and the steamers and my husband had a rib special and swordfish on our most recent visit. But it is always consistently good. Great cocktail menu too.

Yelp
1 star for the view, that's it. Had one of the worst dining experiences as a group of 4 last month. When we checked in, we were told the waitlist was 45 mins. After a 90 mins wait, and seeing a lot of groups who came after us were seated, our group was finally seated. (Mind you there is no reservations for this place and you get in line when you get there). Then the real drama happened during our meal. There was all bunch of service issues with getting waiter attention, ordering drinks and actually receiving them - which all took forever. We actually tried to order our food as we were ordering our drinks and the waiter ran away without doing it. I ordered one of the seafood specials and my friend ordered a surf & turf, waiter asked about how she wanted it cooked etc. She has tree nut allergies and told the waiter about it, and the waiter wrote it down, provided recommendations and we told all was good. Then, when the food arrived, they brought something completely different to her (AND WITH TREE NUTS IN IT) and tried to convince her that this was what she ordered. On my side, I got my order but even before touching my food, I saw a hair on it. I asked about it, the waiter took back my plate, and brought it back in 2 mins. I asked her if she just took the hair out and brought it back to me as is and she said yes!!!! At that moment, I told them I don't want to eat it and I returned it. Seeing my friend going through her stuff, which was quite serious, I didn't want to order anything else. In the end, they brought what my friend ordered and they didn't charge me for the food I returned. They covered our drinks at the end, which was nice, but not enough to forget the awful experience. I was really excited about this place, but won't be going back ever again.

Yelp
Beautiful views, terrific food and great service. Our little guy loved looking at all the boats. Seafood was very fresh and delicious.

Yelp
Well, four years later and my review is about the same?! Food par excellence. Service sub par. When one spends $48 & $39 per entree, service should be commensurate with the price tag and food quality. I think one would expect: 1. to be asked if they want a beverage before one gets ones food 2. to be asked how their food is sometime during the consumption process 3. and for a table for two know who gets what food; after all this isn't just a place swinging burgers! 4. to be asked if they would like desert. But, nooooooo......!
google avatar

Shawn H.

Yelp
This was excellent. We started with the baked clams and burrata, then got two specials -- a crab-stuffed flounder and a blackened halibut. Every dish was great, although the real star of the meal was the key lime pie we got for dessert. (We also got a brownie sundae, which we also liked.) The fish and chips on the kids menu was also excellent. Definitely a good candidate for a return trip -- I think I preferred this to most other similar seafood places in the Hamptons.

Yelp
Bostwick's is the perfect place to watch the sunset. The food is excellent! The only downside is they don't take reservations. A typical wait time for us has been 30 min to an hour and a half. You can wait in the bar area an have a drink while you wait, and if you are lucky enough to grab a couple of bar stools you can enjoy an appetizer. Highly recommend Bostwick's on the Harbor!

Yelp
Incredible service. Delicious food every time and the view is unbelievable. Thanks Kevin for always being a gracious host.

Yelp
Such a pretty view Three Mile Harbor and some of the best seafood in town Damien serves up magical taste delights for us A must visit in season Lovely local wait staff

Yelp
Eat here. Ima keep this review short and to the point. The view of the setting sun plus the expertly prepared food plus the good company and spirits and good service to boot made this one of the most enjoyable dining experiences in recent history. When I visit the area again, I will eat here again. Do not order the peppers from the appetizer menu. They are some sort of fried sweet peppers. That's all. Maybe it's a local thing I don't understand, but it was a no for the entire table. You will thank me later.

Yelp
We returned last night to Gann Rd, home again to a Bostwicks. Bostwicks on the Harbor is home to consistently excellent food, solid drinks, and phenomenal sunsets, and last night we got a little of each. It's important to note that they don't take reservations, but you can stop by after four pm and leave your name, so we send someone to put our name in at 5:45 to get a table at 7. otherwise you can just go, drink and wait. The waiter fired off the specials, there were 2 appetizer specials but at 7pm they were already out of their striped bass entree special. Our friends ordered the artichoke salad special, and the tuna tostada, i ordered steamers and a lobster roll, my go to at beach bars, and my wife ordered the duck, which they were also out of, so she settled for the fluke, not her favorite. The steamers were large and tasty, and my lobster roll was tops, and accompanied by fruit slices and killer French fries. The tuna tostadas were excellent, pretty much everything we ordered was great, although my wife's fluke was just ok. The waiter came over to give us the dessert options: a molten chocolate Cake with chocolate ice cream. Wait, chocolate ice cream? Can we get vanilla? No, they were out of vanilla ice cream. How do you run out of vanilla ice cream? We were told it was a supply chain issue, which would be rectified the next day. Other options included key lime pie, our choice, and almond cake, also served with chocolate ice cream. The pie was fine. Key lime is always good, so no complaints. The sunset developed beautifully while we were there, and we had a sunset side table, but the restaurant was remarkably loud for an open air place. So much so we could barely hear each other across the table. In all the experience rated a four, and if they had all the options, and we could have ordered the duck, it probably would have been closer to A five. Highly recommend.

Nancy B.

Yelp
Go for the view not the food. Had chicken Milanese the chicken was pounded so thin that it was basically breadcrumbs dried out. The truffle fries had zero truffle taste and were cold. The menu not great. Vegan option was terrible. Next time maybe just go for a drink.

Peter L.

Yelp
If you are looking for a great place to watch the sunset with excellent consistently good food this is the place. The view of the marina and the sun setting is very very nice. They have picnic tables down below if you have young children which makes it a breeze. The wait staff are really good when they see you have babies. We enjoy their happy hour when we don't have our children with us. This is a fun airy place with good food and a pleasant helpful staff. The cocktails are really good too.

Yelp
Love this place- been coming here since the 90s amazing views great food and awesome Sunsets - try the lobster

Yelp
I go here once a year as a treat. It's beautiful and has the best sunsets. Service is iffy. Long wait time. Food is very good!

Yelp
Lovely atmosphere, fantastic food. The sunset, the ease of a beautiful September evening.

Yelp
Loved this place!!! Came here with some friends and their parents for a nice meal on a Saturday night. We were told we had to wait ~45 minutes for our table but were actually seated within 25. We went over to the bar area to wait for our table and got our drinks really quickly! I loved the blood orange margarita. We started with some oysters for the table that were just delicious and succulent. I didn't even need any of the side sauces to add to the flavor. The steamed mussels were also amazing. They were steamed in a Thai coconut curry sauce that I could have literally drank. I ordered the herb-panko crusted local fluke, and it was quite literally one of the best fish dishes I've had. The fish was flaky and tender. The crust added a great bite, and I loved the lemon sauce that they added on top of the seasoned rice. Overall, a great place with a wonderful atmosphere and view. I will definitely return when back in the Hamptons.

Barbara S.

Yelp
Average food. Overpriced. Loud, unrelaxing dining experience. Unhappy wait staff. Horribly long wait. One of the most awful dining experiences in the Hamptons. The single star is for the view. So sad. This was one of my favorites. I have been coming here for 18 years.

Rohin H.

Yelp
I've always loved this original location of Bostwick's and so nice to see they've reopened it again. You have beautiful west facing views of the water, with California sunsets. Easy parking (own lot right by the marina) The food is the same tasty, consistently good Seafood that Bostwick's is known for. Nothing too over the top or experimental - just good American seafood. We had a very friendly and helpful waitress who just made the whole experience so nice.
google avatar

Jeannine M.

Yelp
Food and cocktails were good but this place is about the killer view. The ambiance and the chill out effect.
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Good food and drink, lotsa fun, beautiful waterfront setting. Go there! Stick with the seafood. Bostwick's is a natural.
google avatar

Slater F.

Yelp
Come for the ambience. Beautiful location and it's a local favorite (I'm not a local of course). My advice: stick to their classics (lobster rolls) and skip any asian-themed/inspired dishes and side dishes (rice and bok choy prep was laughable)--it's not their strong suit and overpriced (it's in the Hamptons!). Otherwise, highly recommended for the Hampton local experirence.

Darren G.

Yelp
Too expensive for just okay food and quite a scene, always packed. Service okay. View is great, it's a lovely location. Just meh.. pretty much wraps up the whole Hamptons "thing"
google avatar

Mary A.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere & pretty view, but long wait. Food is good & good quality, but not breathtaking. We had the burrata (very nice and refreshing!), fluke (good, but missing some flavor tbh), and crab cakes.

Citee C.

Yelp
If you were a loyal customer because the food and service were exemplary, beware! There has been a recent change in the food preparation. One example is the duck. On a recent visit the skin was soggy and seemed to have been reheated several times. The sauce was clearly different and tasted overly sweet, as though it was pre-made and taken from a jar. Another person in my party ordered the seafood pasta. Another favorite standby. Again, the sauce was clearly different and the pasta was dry. It appears that the chef has changed. Very disappointing!

Maggie G.

Yelp
Have been dining at Bostwicks for years. Just stopped in on the way home from the beach. They never disappoint. Lobster rolls are "solid". Steamers and lobster fritters were delicious. Cold Coronas and a perfect way to end the day. Always on point at Bostwicks. Thanks.
google avatar

Camila P.

Yelp
This place had an incredible view! We were seated right on the balcony off the water. The food was also great although it was pretty overpriced but that's pretty in line with most restaurants in the area. My boyfriend and I split the sesame tuna with wild rice and the salmon with Thai noodles both of which were both amazing. We did have to go in to put down our name and waited about 2 hours for a table of 8 so I recommend getting there early and expect a wait. Others got the fish and chips and said it was disappointing but everything we ordered was great! The service was friendly and quick
google avatar

Jeannie W.

Yelp
My friends and I ran the Hampton's half and stayed in East Hampton. The weather was overcast so we did not see the sunset but the location, food and service at Bostwick's was great! We loved the truffle fries and lobster roll and crabcakes. Not pictured is the salmon which my friends also loved. I gave 4 stars because they are short staffed like everyone else and it was a long time between being seated, taking our orders and getting any water. Water at the table was the problem. They did a great job making a cherry coke from the bar for my friend's 16y old daughter. As a suggestion when the servers take away a carafe of water they should bring one back. We are happy to fill our own water glasses. It was a busy Saturday night so I'm sure the issue was short staffing. Our waitress was very kind, polite and helpful. We would go back if we were in the area. Food prices are what you would expect. We did not wait the hour quoted us only about 20 min.

Cami O.

Yelp
The star is for the location....not the service or the fact that they completely disregarded my daughter's food allergies. Do not go here if you have celiac or a dairy allergy. We ordered the steak plain; the waiter told us the fries were not gluten free due to cross contamination , so we ordered steamed asparagus. Plate shows up with fries doused in cheese, and a steak with a bunch of onions on top. Nope. My son's mussels smelled funny and were full of sand. My husband ordered his tuna rare and it came gray inside. We asked for the manager (which I have NEVER done). When she came over, she proceeded to be condescending and she said "ok ok--how we can move forward." So they brought a "new" steak out (I think they scraped the old one off) and new fries, but my 8 year old daughter was too nervous to eat. The waiter refused to look us in the eye when we asked for the check. $300 later, our dog had a really nice steak dinner. Honestly, I've waited tables before. It's not about the mistake. We've all been there. It's the way it was handled. We asked the waiter at the start to confirm whether or not the food was safe, and he did not. It just arrived at the table. When we asked for the manager, she was condescending and not appreciating the severity of what would have happened had my daughter eaten what they originally brought. Her tone was off--and yes--I know that everything gets crazy in restaurants and that it's stressful, but this was unacceptable. Her curtness, condescension, and inability to understand the seriousness of food allergies all add up to us never going back. We've already contacted friends who have frequented this establishment to warn them. As an aside--I have NEVER written a review on yelp--good, bad, or ugly....but this situation seemed like the right time. DO NOT eat here if you are concerned about food allergies, or if you want to be treated respectfully. Period.

Yelp
Been here in 2019 a few times and loved it. Came back to East Hampton and so happy they were open post COVID. Felt super safe being there with the protocols they put in place. Food never disappoints! Clam chowder, calamari, stuffed clams, shosito peppers, scallops. Desert was to die for: key lime pie, chocolate ice cream, brownie sundae. Views are great, staff great... all around great.
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
We had dinner at Bostwick's tonight and I have to say it was awesome! We arrived around 5:15 and we had an awesome server, Maria. The food was very good, the burrata, the house salad and the chicken Milanese and fish and chips along with some rosè ! Looking forward to being back! The view does not disappoint!

Linda R.

Yelp
I came here as I have been coming out here for many years. Always had great food. Tonight was a different story. Service was very nice but spotty; lots of wait staff running around aimlessly. The main issue is the salt they put on the food. Do not come here with high blood pressure! My beautiful piece of fresh wild fluke was destroyed by a salt shaker. I was so disappointed, as without that salt problem, the meal would have been delicious. Will not head back soon. I have no idea what the chef or sous chefs are thinking. Do they not taste their food? I mentioned this to my waitress who stated they were getting lots of complaints about the salt issue??
google avatar

Mary B.

Yelp
We were so happy to be back to Bostwick's where it was years ago, many happy memories of good food and family. Glad to say still terrific! Very good service and the duck succulent and tasty. Seafood pasta divine. Not to mention the lovely view. MJB

Brandon G.

Yelp
Beautiful View!! Best Sunset in East Hampton!! The Food is amazing!! Especially the Tuna and the Baked Clams!! The service was very nice!! Would definitely recommend!!
google avatar

Patty T.

Yelp
I've been going to Bostwicks way back when they were on the Harbor the first time. And I continued visiting Bostwicks chowder house where the food was just as good, but the location was not on the water. I was so excited to have my 2 lb lobster at the Harbor view restaurant! What a disappointment!!! And my husband's steak was welll done when he ordered medium rare. He returned it which he never does. We spoke to the manager, and he was befuddled. Didn't know how to respond to our complaints. We were telling him more for his own benefit, but it fell on deaf ears. Really sad that they don't have the same quality of product at the Harbor view restaurant and not the same quality of management. So sad!! I will probably go back for clams on the half shell, but not anything else.

Jen P.

Yelp
So.. I'm hesitant to write this because I may want this to remain a hidden gem but.. the food is amazing, the drinks are strong, the view is amazing.. get here before 6:30 pm on the weekdays for happy hour... there's a reason this place stays busy. We'll be back, hi steve the bartender!!
google avatar

Dan S.

Yelp
Good addition to the area. Slightly upscale version of the bostwicks near cross island..

David B.

Yelp
Hidden Gem. Great, fresh seafood food. Overlooking the water. Gets very loud when crowded. Not open year round.

Jeanette K.

Yelp
Bostwick's on the Harbor is an absolute gem nestled on the bay side in Springs! The sunsets are not to be missed as you enjoy their many delicious dishes and a Montauk beer or cocktail! The calamari app is one of the best I have ever eaten with their "fire cracker" sauce. The crab cakes and fluke were perfectly seasoned and all dishes came out of the kitchen hot. To finish off the night the almond cake is a must have! The staff are professional and courteous. I highly recommend this restaurant and all it has to offer when visiting the Hamptons! Bon appetite!!!

Susan H.

Yelp
All of the food is consistently delicious and the atmosphere/views cannot be beat. Ownership/Management is most experienced, discerning, and you will not find better! This is truly my favorite Restaurant on the South Fork!
google avatar

Eva Z.

Yelp
My family and I decided to come to this newly opened location because we had such wonderful experiences In years past . We waited about 45 minutes for a table but were drinking by the bar and served appetizers . The flash fried calamari was great, it was crispy and cooked just right . The portion was enough for 3 hungry people ! Our drinks were strong . I recommend the Bostwick breeze or pampaloma. As an entree my mother and I ordered the scallops . They were tender and cooked to perfection but the sides were underwhelming . We were given corn and tomatoes that were drowned in a butter wine sauce . I was not a fan of the sides so I ordered asparagus on the side . In years past I remember getting mashed potatoes or rice with a seasonal veggie . My father had the Long Island duck. His portion was pretty hefty and it tasted great . My only complaint was that it could have used more sauce with the duck . The views are outstanding. Yet , I'm not so sure I'll be back.

John N.

Yelp
Most beautiful setting. Excellent food as well. Can't beat it. Great service, well trained staff, and top quality kitchen.
google avatar

Ann C.

Yelp
Nice view, cool vibe, nice interior decor, menu was disappointing , food even more , totally different than the original location needless to say we will have to make the drive to amagansett and endure the crowds but it's totally worth it
google avatar

Ari R.

Yelp
The vibe at the Bostwick's on a Saturday evening was closer to a retirement home than that of a newly opened Hamptons hot spot. The cocktails were mediocre at best. We didn't stay for dinner because the place was packed with elderly people. The premises smelled of cabbage.
google avatar

Cristina F.

Yelp
Every time I am in the area I always come here for dinner, it's hard to get a reservation but we always manage to get a table for two. Great location right on the water, super delicious food, and the friendliest staff.
