I visited Boteco within the first few months of it launching, curious to experiment at one of the Bangalore’s only Brazilian haunts.
The first time around we sampled the beetroot ravioli with goats cheese and saffron sauce, traditional pao de quiejo with jalapeños and crab croquettes. The ravioli - a surprising well balanced dish. The croquettes? pure indulgence, but the pao’s lacked the fluffy richness we expected from them.
For the mains - Arroz de Frutos do mar and a tantalising apricot and balsamic risotto. While the risotto ate beautifully, the arroz didn’t quite have the crunchy layer of almost burnt rice that is classic of a paella-category dish, still seafood was generous and flavourful in every spoon.
Off their tapas menu, which has some great offers on sangria and sides, we got the melanzana parmigiana sliders - 10/10!
Suffice to say, no room for dessert remained, not even in the second tummy reserved for all things sweet! A great initiative and a must-visit.
Edit: Visited for a second time in August 2025, and another perfect feast was had! The beetroot carpaccio with saffron, walnuts, orange segments, capers was so fresh and a perfect palate cleanser to start off lunch. The paos were great this time around and the sweet potato crostini layered with hummus, jackfruit and pesto was a surprising flavour bomb. I also tried the black potato and seafood gnocchi, which was interesting, but the gnocchi was over cooked and was more of a pudding by the time we were done.
Boteco’s ambience lends possibility to a slow easy luncheon with quiet music and chill vibes - so win win win!
