I came here 3 years ago by myself and had an amazing dinner, however I recently brought my family and had a completely different experience. The food was just okay, and the service was TERRIBLE. My family and I did not feel welcomed at all during this past experience, our waiter had a horrible attitude and literally threw the menus on the table. He took forever to introduce himself, was not helpful when it came to questions we had, and would literally ignore us when we needed more water or drinks. There are nicer and better restaurants in the city to spend your money at.

Google
The burger was great served medium. The fries were delicious too. Perfect serving size. I wish the pickle was thinly sliced to easily add to the burger though. I love creme brûlée so I was very disappointed when mine came out very poorly. The consistency was all wrong. Other than that, the atmosphere was great.

We stopped for brunch on a nice Sunday morning. The ambience and feel in the restaurant transports you to Europe. Our server, Ben was amazing and helped us with good recommendations. The coffee was amazing. I had the eggs Norwegian which was rich and flavorful but didn’t leave me feeling heavy afterwards. My wife had “le croque madame” which was a very good sandwich as well. Definitely recommend considering this spot for a meal if you’re in the area. On my personal scale, it scores an 8/10.

Google
Boucherie was the first restaurant I experienced when visiting NYC in 2015, and from the moment I walked in, I was hooked. Fast forward 10 years… and it’s still that perfect NYC classy vibe. If you know, you know. Adam has been the absolute best barkeep with the most pleasant and welcoming spirit. The music, food, wine… my absolute go-to when visiting the city.

Google
I visited this restaurant for Mother’s Day, and it was a wonderful experience. My parents truly enjoyed the food—it was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent, attentive, and friendly. Everything exceeded our expectations, and I’m looking forward to coming back again. Thank you for making our celebration special!

Google
Had drinks and oysters at the bar! Bartender Adam was the best. Great conversationalist and super knowledgeable on oysters! Made us the best drinks with speedy service. Would 10000% recommend for anyone to come here for some drinks and apps!

Google
We came in for the first time and our server was Diego. He was one of the best waiters I've had in the city! He was animated, had a great sense of humor, knew the menu very well and made great recommendations. The food was also phenomenal! Definitely a must try if you are in gramercy.

Google
Boucherie has a great space and a fun vibe and the food lives up to it. There are three menu items that I want to be excellent at a French Bistro. The Salade Nicoise, The Burger, and the Fries. (We could add French onion soup and the Croque Madame but I didn’t get to try those yet). Add the fact that they have a great wine list with thoughtful selections at fair prices. This is my new “go to” bistro in NY!

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere & great service! The food always taste great, the octopus always hits the spot!!

Yelp
The steak frites was wonderful I recommend! For dessert we shared the crème brulee and matcha tart, yum!

Yelp
Really good drinks and food, nice music and overall atmosphere, and service was pleasant. Such a unique culinary experience!

Yelp
The peppered filet mignon and the foie gras mousse were both delicious, especially the foie gras mousse, which was the best foie gras mousse I've had in Manhattan!!!! Not one of them. My dessert was the puff pastry which was very sweet. Haha, but I can't have too many sweets or I'll gain weight! The service and ambiance is great too, I'll be back here if I'm free next time. Looking forward to trying other dishes on the menu.

Yelp
Dined for lunch on a weekday during work and had an excellent experience. Service was attentive and understood the pace of corporate lunches. Ordered the steak sandwich with fries and it was an excellent lunch meal, the sandwich was executed very well and had a lot of flavor. Fries were solid too. Overall this place was fun and very pleasant, amazing ambience and vibes, a lot of natural light, and everyone was happy to be there. Recommend.

Yelp
When you know, you know. I was walking over to the theater just a couple blocks from here for a show with no set plan. As I always do, I end up eating at whatever place catches my eye. The outside of this place caught my eye so I walked right in. Opted for a table instead of the bar even though I was alone as I wanted to be comfortable. I was ready to order by the time Diego came back around. I'm a creature of habit when I dine at a French restaurant by ordering steak frites. Always Paired it with their only cider then followed that with the tosé from Provence. Amazing meal. My steak was perfectly cooked. I love the way their fries were cooked. There were a few super crunchy pieces that was a nice surprise. Ended with the yuzu/matcha tart. I kilt that plate. Thanks to Diego for taking such great care of me.

Yelp
Sat at the bar until a table was free. Bartender was great. Food was delicious and waitstaff was attentive. It was not crowded by the time we were seated. It was quiet enough for conversation. We weren't trying to park, but there was no street parking nearby.
google avatar

Yelp
Very festive and delicious drinks. Food was delicious. Can get a little busy but Jose at the bar was really attentive!
google avatar

Derek Z.

Yelp
Huge hall, huge burgers, huge back. The boucherie burger was dominated by the meat... I didn't even process the other ingredients so if meat is your thing, this is not a bad choice. The burger was so juicy it made the bread soggy pretty quickly though which was a weird issue to have. The service was also pretty disappointing and we were ignored for a while. It gave an old timey vibe and we were seated next to the piano which was an awful seating choice because it was kinda dusty.
google avatar

Pamela P.

Yelp
Beautiful location and great drinks served by Jose at the bar, we ordered the happy hour sliders hoping they would be as good as the rest of the food offered in their regular menu but they were overcooked, dry and flavorless. The ambiance is cozy and the decor beautiful. The entire place is decorated with festive Christmas ornaments providing a cheerful atmosphere however we were very dissatisfied with the food. I'm giving 4 stars because drinks were on point and Jose provided great service.

Yelp
Hooray it's my 700th review, FINALLY! I should have completed that number back in 2016 but life has a funny way of throwing curve balls at you... I wanted to dedicate this review to the restaurant I spent my birthday at this year. To celebrate with my New York friends, I really wanted to go somewhere that had traditional French food (since I barely had any when I was in the country last month, ironically) below 34th Street. Ultimately somewhere that had great food, chill Parisian vibes, and enough space that I could book a party of seven without issue. So many French places won't do tables over six!! Boucherie Union Square crossed off every single box and is also gorgeous to boot! One of my favorite things about this restaurant is just how giant the menu is. They had ALL of my favorites listed and in the true spirit of birthday girl domination, I took over ordering all the dishes and even the wine! Going with large groups makes it easier since we can order a multitude of dishes and share everything family style. All courses and dishes to follow... Appetizers: -SOUPE À L'OIGNON Traditional French onion soup, croutons and Gruyère -SALADE CÉSAR Romaine, anchovy, Parmesan, lemon -MOULES DIJONNAISE Garlic, shallots, thyme, light mustard cream -LES ESCARGOTS Snails, shallots, lemon, parsley and garlic butter -WAGYU CARPACCIO Truffle aioli, horseradish, caper berries My favorites of the apps were the onion soup (so HEAVENLY I scraped for every last fleck of cheese), the mussels, and the carpaccio. The salad didn't have enough dressing or whatever dressing there was, was not packing the flavor punch one would expect. For the escargots, I've reconfirmed to myself that snails are gross and I'll never get over the chewy texture nor the slimy mental image of them haha. Carpaccio was delicious and highly recommend. Main courses paired with a bottle of Chateau du Chatelard Beaujolais-Villages which was outstanding: -CÔTE DE BOEUF POUR DEUX 48 oz Tomahawk ribeye, herb roasted bone marrow, Bordelaise -BOEUF BOURGUIGNON Traditional French braised beef, carrots, mushrooms, bacon, pommes purée -COQ AU VIN Braised chicken, red wine reduction, bacon, carrots, mushrooms And of course, all the sides: -POMMES FRITES -POMMES PURÉE -CHAMPIGNONS -SMOKED GOUDA MACARONI GRATIN Highlights from the main course were the tomahawk and the bone marrow but honestly everything tasted great. I think I started getting the meat sweats halfway into this course as I wanted to rip my dress sleeves off at one point. Dessert was a lovely birthday creme brûlée complete with chocolate note and candle! Overall, my dinner here was nothing short of outstanding. The waiters took good care of us, and our food came out at a reasonable pace and beautifully prepared. One of my favorite events of the evening was the small gift that the restaurant gave me -- it was a book of Boucherie history and origins which also included recipes and on the inside page, there was a handwritten note to me saying happy birthday. Boucherie team, thank you for making my birthday experience so amazing!

Yelp
Having heard great things about Boucherie, and seeing numerous pictures of its gorgeous interior, I had excitedly booked a reservation for 4 for my birthday lunch! However, I left underwhelmed and disappointed. For starters, we were seated at these high top tables. As one of our party members had mobility issues, I asked our waitress if we could be moved to one of the lower tables or booths, to which she refused, despite the restaurant being half full at best. Food wise, we ordered the seared scallops, steak frites, moules dijonnaise, and escargot. Seared Scallops: (4/5) The scallops themselves were large, delicious and perfectly cooked! The squash puree underneath paired nicely as well; however, I found that there wasn't enough of it. Overall, it felt like a $44 appetizer rather than a main course. Moules Dijonnaise: (2/5) As a mussel lover, I was really looking forward to this; however, they arrived extremely cold, and tasted as if they were someone's leftovers. Even when refired, the mussels were still lukewarm at best, not to mention, sandy. The steak frites and escargot were tasty, but not enough to compel me to return. Overall, I will likely not be returning to Boucherie.

Yelp
I came here for a bday brunch with a friend! I ordered the jambon and Gruyère omelette and my friend ordered the eggs benedict. If anything I think the omelette could've used a little more salt but luckily we had some nice flakey salt with the free bread and butter (delicious!) it wasn't completely booked up and the staff were all friendly, albeit a little inattentive when it got busier. The atmosphere and interior was a 10/10 and I received some of the best ice cream with a little candle! Even when the ice cream melted it looked high quality. I'd definitely come back for a celebration!

Yelp
Was highly disappointed in this meal. The best part of this meal was the kind and amazing service. We were seated right away and was helped by the server many times. I was there for brunch. The steak aux oeufs was fine, it was underseasoned and was super tough to chew through. It was also expensive for what it was. The oeufs meurette was better but was still disappointing. The flavor was bland and was a pretty small portion. The fries were crispy but super oily but I probably enjoyed this the most. We also ordered the salmon and the tartare, they were both fine but under seasoned. Overall, I don't know if I'd go back for the food but the bar and the seating is very nice.

Yelp
I always rate on a relative scale when rating restaurants in mid-town. Most of these spots are meant to be people-pleasers and I don't expect an earth-shattering experience. I made a 7:45 PM reservation. I got there about 10 minutes early. Greeted warmly by the hostess and was sat immediately. I was not greeted until 8 PM and I could tell the servers were busy. I don't blame them for this. There were either too many diners or not enough servers or both. My server was trying his best, but 15 minutes is a long time to wait for a greeting when you're trying to make a show in the next hour. Then it took a while to get my first (and only, since time was running so short at this point) cocktail. The food is good. Maybe not the very best steak I've ever had, but the filet mignon, served crusted in peppercorns was tender, cooked perfectly, and enjoyable. I had a side of mac n cheese as well, which was gooey and hot. The mashed potatoes were forgettable. While there are salads and other entrees, this restaurant is steak-focused. The cocktail I had was the Le Diable, made with Del Maguey puebla, mathilde cassis, grapfruit, and el tequileno reposado. It was tart, light, refreshing, and had a pleasant taste. The cocktail menu here has a lot of great looking drinks. I wish I had had time to try more. Again, my server was doing his best. And on a night I didn't have an event coming up, a leisurely dinner would have been fine. But I wouldn't recommend coming here with any less than an hour or hour and a half, at least on a Saturday, and your venue had better be close (mine was just a block down). Overall I would try this place again, with more time on my hands . . . but it would also be nice if they would help their servers out a little more.

Yelp
My companion and I were looking for a fun dinner in New York and wanted French food. Of course Boucherie fit the bill. We have eaten at the Boucherie in Chicago and this one was the same. The French onion soup is very luscious and rich with a wonderful onion taste. Of course we had, and some of their house specialties. The service was efficient and friendly, and the waiter answered all of our questions. The tables are not too close together, and the restaurant is well lit and lively. We finished the meal with a very wonderful trio of desserts. If you are looking for a nice meal in New York with a touch of Paris, I highly recommend this bistro

Yelp
Food: 5 stars Service: 5 stars Decor: 5 stars I felt like I was being served at a steakhouse...the servers didn't stop coming by to fill my water, provide fresh utensils, clean my table after each meal. The attention to detail is phenomenal! There is a reason this restaurant and location is rated so highly. Immediately you enter pre war Paris vibes with tilework design and a warm cozy decor but very large inside so great for large or small groups. The bar has a beautiful setup...aesthetically beautiful cafe restaurant vibes. Brett was an amazing manager he made sure we were having the specials on the menu and the chef did not disappoint! From the pictures you can see me and my guests tried almost everything special on the menu. The croissants were flakes and silky to the mouth. The coffee strong. Light salad with crunch from the sweet walnuts and light and airy cheese. Everything tasted superb. I'll definitely be back more often...just a non pretentious high quality restaurant where you can dress up or come in sneakers...no judgement...you still feel like a million bucks upon entering. Thanks to the server Diego also!

Yelp
Quick service and the food was filling. Energetic atmosphere. Great place to stop in if you are in the area

Yelp
A beautiful restaurant indeed but service and food was a hard 3/5. I feel like you can get the same dishes at half the price (& maybe a little tastier) somewhere else in the city. Might I add tho... we came here for Valentine's Day and had some high expectations bc of their high ratings. Highly disappointed with our experience. I don't think I'd come back unfortunately :-(

Yelp
Stopped by for dinner and ordered the steak tartare and niçoise salad. The tartar was excellent. It was spicy, briny and succulent. The salad was subpar. Not sure what kind of left over tuna meat they provided but it was far from fresh and reminded me of rubber (see photo). The service was great and the ambiance was trendy. 3 stars I suppose.

Yelp
A gorgeous establishment that's worth every penny. You're sure to have a wonderful experience at Boucherie Union Square! Setting: Absolutely gorgeous decorated interior with flowers and plants. Large gold accents add to the beautiful ambiance. Service: We had a wonderful waitress who was accommodating and kind! In a busy restaurant like this it's always a nice touch and we were sure to tip extra! Food: Delicious and on-point. I highly recommend the Pastéque et Feta (watermelon salad) and the La Vie en Rose (lychee cocktail).

Yelp
I had a great time at boucherie! The escargot was AMAZING!!! Perfectly seasoned! Fries were also perfect crunch and steak was amazing. Crème brûlée was perfect I would go back for it. Overall service was fast, space was open, they had coat check as well which is a plus, beautiful room and well decorated and in a great location. This is my second time here and I will definitely be back

Nuri O.

Yelp
What a wonderful place to have your brunch/dinner! Family friendly! Service is above and beyond! Very classy venue! The interior is like a touch of history! During Xmas time it's just perfect! Decor, music, food.. you will feel that "NYC Xmas Vibe" for sure! We loved it! They have regular tables, booths and high tables. Also very nice bar seats area! Their Xmas tree is very nice/ conservative chic decorated. We did not regret it!

Yelp
Early dinner on the day before the 4th holiday. I've never gotten the burger here before and since we were both craving pomme frites, it seemed perfect. Both the wagyu and the Bouchie burger were delicious! Fries were a bit oversalted but they did the job. The glass of California cab really hit the spot after a long short week. We sat at a round table near the front of the restaurant so that we could people watch - well-placed seat! Service was quick and attentive.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by a quick drink. Sat by the bar. Great location. Very friendly service. Fries extra krispy so good. Everything looks good. Love the high ceilings. Will have combine back n try the other items in the menu.

Yelp
Excellent service but terrible food. It's definitely a vibe-y fun place in NY, but given the mediocre food, I would pass and try somewhere else. We ordered the steak tartare and french onion soup for appetizers. The steak tartare was severely under-seasoned. While I know it's raw beef, I feel like the lack of seasoning made me even more cognizant of that fact and I could not stomach this dish. It was so bad and I did not want to finish it. The french onion soup, on the other hand, was just way too salty. It had no flavor but salt. (If only I could have removed the salt from my soup and placed it into my tartare.) For the entree, we got the steak frites. It was so normal and average - it felt like I just went to a grocery store, grabbed a discount piece of steak, and just cooked it as fast as possible so I could eat. I wouldn't be complaining if this dish was $30. Unfortunately, it was $55 and nowhere nearly worth that. I enjoyed it at the moment, but that was only because the appetizers were so terrible that I just wanted to eat anything. Finally, for dessert, we got the profiteroles and creme brulee. Profiteroles was alright. Creme brulee was disappointing. It tasted too much like store bought whipped creme. Our waiter was extremely kind and fun! But unfortunately, he was not enough to justify the sub par food we had.

Yelp
Had reservation at 1PM and arrived a tad early. Hostess was great and friendly. Waited a little bit before we were greeted (to the point where we were ready to order everything drinks included at the same time) They definitely were understaffed for the amount of tables because they had a manager taking tables around us. (He could use a little service training, he spilled a drink and food on this unfortunately patron next to us.) For such a small table, all of our food came out at the same time which was no good. We had to entrap our bread basket under the tower. We had a seafood tower, French onion soup, steak tartar, couple of drinks. The lobster on our seafood tower was absolutely tasteless, almost wet paper towel taste, was not very good. Cocktail shrimp were fine, oysters and clams were great tho! Beautifully shucked, not a shell or sandy piece in sight! French Onion Soup was fine, big, but thought it could be more flavorful. Steak tartar was very good! Never enough crostinis but that's just personal preference. Enjoyed the decor, was a great day out so doors were open, plenty of light. Overall, was a bit let down for a place that is a well known restaurant that's been around for years. With so many places to eat in NYC...Probably wouldn't go back. Was good for a one and done visit.

Yelp
The ambiance and the food were amazing! So festive inside the restaurant. Love that they had grass-fed steak and it was cooked perfectly. Will definitely come back.
google avatar

Sierra R.

Yelp
Great oysters and bar service, clean restaurant and the food came fast. Our bartender was really nice and ensured we had a great experience.

Carol M.

Yelp
Boucherie has a beautiful interior. Right now, it is very festive with a Christmas tree and garlands adoring the brass railings. As with the last time we were at Boucherie, the food is mediocre. The French onion soup tastes strange and is unlike the classic French onion soup. The beef sandwich had chunks of gristle in it and was flavorless. The French fries were hot but not crispy. I had to ask three times to get a glass of sparkling rose. The wait staff, however, is pleasant and the maître de was immediately helpful in correcting a wobbly table. We did enjoy the Creme Brule. There is currently a special 50% off on full bottles of wine. A late afternoon glass of wine or cup of coffee might be the best option.
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
Amazing food, atmosphere, and service! Scallops were cooked to perfection, and the drinks were amazing. Appreciated the barrel aged Manhattan.
google avatar

Dorothy B.

Yelp
Very festive decorations for Christmas! The huge tree at the check in was beautiful although woefully placed in the walking path of resturant goers. Service was excellent- everything was accurate and everyone was very attentive. Food was delish but limited to the brunch menu- we ate at 1:30 on a Saturday and no exceptions were made for items in the lunch menu.
google avatar

Robert H.

Yelp
Perfect place for lunch on a pleasant afternoon! The restaurant is a large space with high ceilings, with an open front so that if you sit nearby you can take advantage of the nice weather without actually sitting outside. There were lots of good menu choices but we opted to share some oysters and escargot, then each had the salad Nicoise with Ahi tuna. Everything was perfectly done and it was the perfect amount of food for two. Service was well-paced and excellent. We stayed a long time but never felt rushed. Sound level was low so we could have a good conversation. I would definitely return!
google avatar

Mandisa N.

Yelp
I was especially craving steak frites and after searching high and low, I found Boucherie to be one of the more affordable yet classy options in the city. I made a reservation beforehand for a table of two. I would recommend doing so as the place was quite busy. Service was alright. I do think they could've come by a little more often. The tables were tiny so I do wish they'd either space the tables out more and/or give people more space to dine. The food was really good. It perfectly satisfied my craving. The steak was cooked perfectly to my desired medium temperature and the fries were crispy. I really enjoyed my drink as well. Despite a few hiccups and possible areas of improvement, I was happy with my experience at Boucherie and look forward to returning in the future!
google avatar

Mariana D.

Yelp
We came here on Christmas Eve. Not much great to say overall. I booked a month in advance and they were no able to accommodate my party of 4 at a booth. The place is gorgeous and very nice and festive ambiance for sure but c'mon with the loud Christmas music!! Good was okay, but not amazing. Appetizers and deserts better than entrees. Probably not coming back. Also, the server was distractingly over pleasing and clownish. Do your job well. We don't need to be besties. I mean that with respect. This was underwhelming for a fine dining experience. I'm disappointed.

Yelp
Food was amazing and service was excellent. Austin made us feel so welcome and guided us through the menu. Will be back again soon.

Yelp
Food, ambience and service was A+. The vibe was perfect. Beautiful food and staff: fun people watching and effortlessly cool. Classic New York/Paris night out. Love!

Yelp
Elena was an incredible server - attentive, kind, and helpful! Food servings were generous and ambiance was festive!

Yelp
One of multiple locations in NY, Boucherie is always a reliable spot. Our server Sarra was delightful and attentive, there were a lot of staff keeping this spot up and running! Ambiance is French garden party vibes, great for groups of any size. My favorite here is the steak tartare which is a true standout, honestly it's good enough that I've stopped by just to order a plate of it before. Minus one star because I do think some of the menu items are a overpriced compared to restaurants of a similar quality,

Erin S.

Yelp
Decorated beautifully for Christmas! Had the mussels and French fries, would 10/10 recommend for French vibes and food in the heart of the city!

Mike S.

Yelp
Very Disappointing . Worst steak ever. Drink was poor, watered down .. The place was busy. Service was ok. Took a while to get the order in. And when the food was served we didn't have utensils, so we had to wait for that too. When we got the utensils, the medium steak was so tough to cut through it was almost like cutting through plastic. I only had few bites. The fries were good. Over all it was a great disappointment for such an establishment. I Won't recommend it to anyone. Especially not the steak .
google avatar

Aziza S.

Yelp
The most amazing dinner , Michael was so accommodating to all of our wishes . Every single dish he recommended was spectacular

Yelp
This was a very enjoyable spot for a Mother's Day brunch The French menu did not disappoint and I would say that the highlight for me was the bread and croissants We had both the almond and chocolate croissants and would go back for morning coffee and that at the bar ( we stayed at the W a few feet away
google avatar

Kayla J.

Yelp
The duck confit was incredible. I would like to see a larger selection of wines by the glass and better glassware for the wine. However the duck truly was incredible and I would gladly come back here for that alone. We had a lovely time sitting outside and they did a great job accommodating our party of 7. The desserts were also very good.
google avatar

Evelyne W.

Yelp
Great happy hour and service! Michael and Adam took wonderful care of our group and made sure we had everything we needed at all times.
google avatar

Karen C.

Yelp
A staple steak frite spot in the city. One of our group of 4 is such a fan of this place that the hostess greeted her by name. We shared the steak tartare, escargot, and each got a steak frite, 2 bernaise, 1 peppercorn, 1 red wine sauce.
google avatar

Ken W.

Yelp
Escargot was amazing and service was impeccable for a friend's birthday brunch. My croque madame was perfect and ample in size.

Yelp
Love this place! Burger is my go to. A great place to pop into after work with friends for a good cocktail and meal.

Yelp
I love Boucherie and it was my first time at the Union Sq location and everything was great! We had dinner waiting at home so we stopped in to cool off, have a drink and relax before walking home and staying in for the evening. One drink led to another which led to ordering more food and next think you know, we're committed and don't have a single regret. All the food is great so you can't go wrong with anything but don't sleep on the fries! I'm a big fan of the charcuterie and prefer the warm table bread to the crispy bread that comes with the charcuterie. It's lovely in there, the walls are beautifully decorated with flowers and wall art.
