Nestled in a cozy Florida house, this lively dive bar blends boozy fun with live music and a vibrant patio, making it a South Miami staple for good times.
"Don’t call it Bougainvillea’s. It’s Bougie’s—and the place to party on Wednesdays for ladies' nights. All well vodka, rum, whiskey, and Bud Lights are free for ladies from 10pm to 2am. Free. You don’t hear that word in Miami much." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo
"This South Miami haunt has been around for decades, and that’s part of its charm. The bar inside is small and loud, as any good dive bar should be, but there is relief on the patio benches. The drinks are strong and poured until the wee hours on most days." - Olee Fowler
"You never go to Bougie’s for classy cocktails. But it has the best deals and is always a beautiful Miami sh*tshow on weekends. Bougainvillea's is a dark South Miami dive bar built inside an old cottage surrounded by, you guessed it, bougainvilleas. Everyone calls it Bougie’s. The tiny stage inside hosts live bands and the place smells like old beer (hang out on the back patio if you don't enjoy the smell). Wednesdays are ladies' nights, and things tend to get absolutely bonkers. That’s when all well vodka, rum, whiskey, and Bud Lights are free for ladies from 10pm to 2am. Yeah—free. You don’t hear that word in Miami much." - Virginia Otazo
"This South Miami haunt has been around for many first dates and will be for many more to come. The bar inside is small and loud, so it’s recommended to take the date outside to the back or to one of the cozy garden benches — unless dancing to the live band is the kind of date on the agenda. The cocktail menu is titled “House Prescriptions” and it might be just what the doctor ordered when it comes to a first date." - Amber Love Bond
"SOUTH MIAMI — Could this be the end of an era for local watering hole Bougainvillea’s Old Florida Tavern (7221 SW 58th Avenue)? The bar is claiming that it is being kicked out of its current space by its landlord on November 30 after negotiations with its landlord failed. The bar even took to Instagram to publish its letter to its landlord where it claims it has spent more than $100,000 in renovations over the past year in the space, and while it got hit hard by closures due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and was attempting to get current on its rent but the landlord just wanted them to vacate “without any explanation.” The owners of the bar are hoping to sign a new lease for the space. Request for comment from the landlord have yet to be returned." - Olee Fowler
