"Moulin Bouillon is a tribute to Laurent Vrignaud’s grandfather — the restaurant was intended to conjure memories of their weekly lunches at Paris’ Bouillon Chartier. Bouillon is the next evolution of Vrignaud’s Moulin bistros and patisseries. Concentrating on classic French dinner (think foundational dishes like boeuf bourguignon and coq au vin), Bouillon also serves brunch with pain perdu and freshly baked croissants on the weekends until 3 p.m. The restaurant is situated in the same outdoor shopping center as Vrignaud’s other restaurants, Moulin café Newport Beach, boulangerie, and maison; its dining room is decorated with French metal signs, red leatherette booths, and bistro chairs." - Jenn Tanaka

Loved our experience here! My son and I had the chicken breast and duck confit. Both were amazing. Chicken breast and duck were so tender. We will definitely be coming back here, there were other things on the menu that were really looking forward to trying. Our server was great too!

New favorite neighborhood gem ! Frisée salad Loved it. Steak Frites also excellent. Manager was awesome. Service was great. Can’t wait to try Music Mondays. Looking forward to our next visit…..French Onion soup and the Steak Tartare !

Google
Was looking to try some French cuisine after my daughter had a good experience in Paris. We got the cheese and cured meat sampler, escargot, peppercorn steak with fries and the Salmon ratatouille. The food was not the same as Paris. The bread and butter was actually the best part. Cheese and meat is as expected. The escargot was mostly flooded in butter and basil. Can't really taste it. Prefer to have it in a shell. The peppercorn steak was chewy at medium. The salmon ratatouille looked a bit dry. The service was nice but the food was not memorable for the price.

I was worried since I haven't been here since they first opened (just because it's a bit out of the way for me) and saw they had changed up some of their menu, including the apple tarte 😭 Took my dad here for Father's day and was really happy with the food. The bread and butter is no longer complimentary but still worth it. The mussels and smoked salmon were all delicious. The food is also still very reasonably priced considering its location and quality. Highly recommend for anyone looking for French food!

Google
This is traditional French dishes very home style. Big portions great taste very flavorful. The focus is on the taste and quality. The value is very high. We went in a big group and tried most of the appetizers and liked all that we got. Leave room for dessert. I had the apple tart my only complaint was I would have liked just a bit more ice cream on it. They did a good job of getting the food out for all of us pretty close to the same time which was a tall order since there were about 18 of us and no preset menu. Will be going back for sure.

Google
Staff were attentive and accommodating, tailoring dishes like the lobster risotto, from which they removed all vegetables for a friend. The plump mussels were delightful, although the white wine in the sauce could have been reduced more to lessen the strong alcohol taste. I’m open to returning and trying more of their dishes!

Google
Celebrated an anniversary lunch recently and had a delicious meal. Highly recommend the French onion soup, rib eye, profiteroles, and of course any of their coffees. Equally top notch was their service. Ask for Seda -- she was wonderfully charming, positive and such a delight! She really made the whole experience extra special.

This is my little oasis of Paris. I wouldn’t know what to do if Moulin and bouillon did not exist. The pastries are buttery flaky and everything is so authentic. The food is very French and so are all the wait staff. It is a must try for breakfast on the other side of the restaurant and share Moulin’s breezeway which closes in at 3:00 PM. Bouillon itself has all day service.

Yelp
This is one of the repeating restaurants to enjoy on the weekend. I have to admit, most of that is due to the escargot craving I get every so often. But it says enough that I often choose to go there!! Ambience is gorgeous, with lots of natural lighting and a clean look! Never too busy when I go, and nice enough that I was able to feel comfortable bringing a laptop and working there, even inside the restaurant. The food is good. Not mindblowingly exceptional, but good and provides you what you want. This burger in particular was one of those cases where I just said "yeah it's good" when asked, and then went back to working. And service has always been consistently nice. Get the escargot.

Yelp
Came on a Thursday night and it was pretty poppin/busy! Ordered the steamed mussels in white wine sauce, which comes with fries. Make sure to get the bread basket, put the butter on with the mussels and it was delicious! Very fragrant and delicious white wine sauce! This sauce would go great with some angel hair pasta and clams too! Also ordered the JIDORI chicken breast which came with broccolini and mashed potatoes. Usually chicken breast is pretty dry, this one was very juicy! The mashed potatoes was very good and buttery too! Overall, really enjoyed our meal!

Yelp
3.75 rounded up. We came for lunch on a Friday and it was busy but they sat us immediately. Cute French restaurant with nice indoor seating and a nice patio. It was LOUD. Our waitress was nice but had a few too many tables to check on us super frequently. Prices seem par for the course for French food, ~$15 for most apps and desserts and ~$30 for most entrees. We had the bread basket, French onion soup, steak and fries, and hachis parmentier. All were solid, the steak was a standout for a. actually being cooked rare (as requested) and b. having a delicious gravy. Both entrees came with a nice little side salad. We waited a LONG time for the check and boxes at the end of the meal, but otherwise no major issues with the service or the meal. Would come back if we were looking for this type of food again.

Alice L.

Yelp
My parents love this little French restaurant that is connected to Moulin. They go regularly and recommended the duck and the hachis permentier. I was not too hungry so didn't try any of the appetizers but they were enjoyed by the rest of the party. I ordered the duck and it was cooked perfectly with a crisp skin! The orange flavor also really came through and complemented the duck flavor. While I'd never had this classic French dish, I felt like it was done perfectly. My husband ordered the hachis parmentier which is a braised beef either mashed potatoes on top and baked with some breadcrumbs and cheese on top. He really enjoyed his meal - said it was really filling, the beef was tender, and the whole dish went well together! What a delightful dinner with the family. We went right when they opened since the place is not big and does get busy later on.

Emily J.

Yelp
The food was just okay. The baguette was yummy, and the butter too. The escargot wasn't really as flavorful as I thought it would be. The steak au poivre was just fine, but a couple of the slices looked more on the rare side than the medium I asked for. The fleshy portion still looked uncooked on two of the pieces. The freshness of the salad was my favorite part of the dish. My mom's canard a l'orange was pretty, and the duck was decent. The salmon ratatouille was fine. The food came out pretty quickly. The service was okay, but it felt like we looked down upon for not saying the menu items in french. We are in America, so don't really like the treatment there. This is giving the authentic french experience, so still water is not the same as tap water. Just so you know, you will be charged $8 per bottle of still water.

Yelp
BELOW PAR ! After our recent one week vacation in Paris where we dined out multiple times every day I can honestly say this place does not stack up with it's food quality, craft beer selections, service and ambience. My God they even charge $5 for half a baguette with your meal here...it's free with breakfast, lunch and dinner in Paris. The owner is taking everyone to the cleaners. Of course it pays for his family's airfares to see the Olympics in Paris. YOU WILL BE SORRY ! NOTE - Of course with 20 million views of my Yelp reviews and pics world wide in 2023 I can tell you what is great !

Yelp
We really liked this restaurant and returned twice while staying in the area for only one week! It's a casual restaurant serving French inspired cuisine. We tried the following dishes: Le Poulet Frites/Pommes Rustiques with Salade Half roasted organic chicken with french fries or roasted potatoes, mixed greens La Salade Niçoise Butter lettuce, tomato, olive, hard boiled egg, tuna, anchovies, green beans, radish, bell pepper, onion, potato, cucumber. Canard à L'Orange* GF 28 Duck confit, caramelized onions, fingerling potatoes, green vegetables Le Burger Français 21 Homemade sesame brioche bun Angus beef patty, raclette cheese, tomato, caramelized onions, lettuce and Dijon aioli And one of their specials which was a French take on Wiener schnitzel. I'd order any of these again though the Le Poulet Frites/Pommes Rustiques was my favorite. Very tender and tasty chicken. Overall, we found the food and wine were excellent, the service prompt and liked the laid back French vibe. This is a popular place and was packed one of the evenings we dined here. When in the area, we will return!

Yelp
First off, service was great! Everyone on staff was friendly and warm. Now onto the food. -Escargots was absolutely delicious! Drenched in butter and garlic. Can't go wrong! -Salmon Tartar was another tasty dish. Super fresh and unexpected. -Boeuf bourguignon was a bit on the dry side. -Loup de Mer was the best dish of the night for me. Seasoned and cooked perfectly. Would go back for this dish alone! Really enjoyed myself here. Will be back!

Lenny L.

Yelp
This is a wonderful French bistro. I walked in and was welcomed with warmth and a French accent. They feel casual and accommodating. I was given the menu and we chatted about the special of the day which is the rack of lamb with pistachio crust. Paired with a glass of pinot noir, every bite was delicious. For my dessert o ordered the floating meringue with a cup of Americano. This floating meringue is so light and heavenly. This is the only place I can get this dessert. Service, food and French worked harmoniously with my meal at Moulin.

Sherman L.

Yelp
Superb'! Classic French bistro with classic bistro food - simple but knocked it out of the park! Onion soup - check. Great flavor. Only complaint is it needed to be hotter Salad Frisesse- check. The sherry vinaigrette was perfect and the salad perfectly crop and dressed Dijon chicken - check. Excellent sauce Duck confit - triple check. The best I've ever had. Amazing. Chocolate soufflé - triple check. Perfect. I'd come back a million times.

Yelp
This is one of those places that popped up on my Instagram because my damn evil phone is always listening to me. I am still looking for some great French food in Los Angeles. Some places I used to go are long closed. Some places that are okay are too pricey for their quality. I thought the pictures looked pretty sensational both on IG and here on Yelp, so I bookmarked it. The prices aren't bad at all, so we decided to finally try it when we were down in Long Beach recently (which is closer than from where we live). They seem to have a few places in the OC. Most are just bakeries, and by the quality of the bread we were served (which is NOT complimentary and costs $5 for a quarter of a baguette), I can say I'd probably buy their bread (as long as it's not $20 a loaf). Located in a large outside mall, parking is easy. There was no wait at dinner time on a weekend. Staff was friendly enough and attentive. The problem was the food. As I said, it is actually rather affordable or maybe cheap would be a better word. Because, in relation to the food, the price seems more accurate than you'd like. The onion soup has an okay flavor - it seems to oddly have the taste of something cooked awhile but the onions are somehow not caramelized. It made me wonder how the parts are put together. It also was strangely gelatinous in texture, which was not pleasant. Like frozen soup not finished being microwaved defrosted. Les Moules Marinières were an okay amount of mussels, but we've had this dish a million times all over the country. The white wine lemon sauce really lacked the punch it should have. This is a common dish, so I was surprised it wasn't successfully pulled off and was so strikingly bland. The Boeuf Bourguignon was also quite bland. Maybe it's because the general age of dinners here was 70. I don't know. Also, there were literally 3 chunks of beef under the sauce. Not much of a meal. It was gone in seconds. And, still, it proved to be too much, as it caused the person who ate it in my party to become quite ill on the drive home. The steak frites was maybe the most successful. The sauce was okay but not great. The steak was cooked the way I requested. It was okay. Nothing to write home about. Basically, my search for great French food continues. Hopefully a place with rabbit on the menu. I'm open to suggestions. I doubt I'd be coming back here and can't really recommend it. Though, as I said at the beginning, if you pass by stop by the bakeries if they're open and grab some nice bread and maybe some good pastries (baking might be their speciality over cooking).

Yelp
I definitely love this place, the onion soup and scargots absolutely recommended! I have been there more than 6 times and my opinion remains the same, I love the place!

Yelp
First of all, I've been wanting to dine here for months, and yesterday, I finally had the opportunity to. Everything about this restaurant reminds me of Paris- the decor, the staff, and the atmosphere. The service is also impeccable- our server, Francis, was so kind, knowledgeable, and an absolute dear. Also big thank you to Laurent for taking care of our reservation in such short notice (an hour before we came in for dinner). Anyhow, We started with the kir royale, which was absolutely fantastic, and our main courses were delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken course, and look forward to coming back for the bœuf bourguignon. If you love French food, dine here. You won't regret it. Thank you again to Laurent and the moulin team for creating such a lovely dining experience. I'll certainly be back. A bientôt !

Yelp
The excellent food here made up for the extremely slow service. Bread & butter - I don't usually mention this, but they were superb. If the bakery was open, I would go buy butter to take back to Vegas with me. Mussels - white wine sauce is always my favorite and the mussels here are huge and plump French onion soup - above average Hachi's parmentier - the French version of a sheppard's pie Hanger steak - had to add a little salt, but was perfectly cooked and the sauce complemented it pretty well (if the sauce was a little thicker, it would have been perfect) Tarte tatin - decent, but I'm not sure I would order this again. Just get the ice cream on its own -the food took forever to come out (a little over 35 minutes before the French onion soup appetizer arrived). I think they forgot our order because a few tables that came after us received their food way before us -our waitress was really nice, but she was too swamped

Yelp
My husband was out of town for the weekend so I had some free time on my hands. I made plans with a friend from work. My friend and I decided on Bouillon Moulin for drinks and dinner. Moulin opened their dinner concept taking over the location where Juliette used to be in Newport Beach. We met up at out front without a reservation and we walked inside to ask for a table for 2. We were seated by the front door. I guess they put people here who don't have a reservation or something because the cold air would blow in every time someone opened the door. I kept my jacket on the entire time. Once seated, our server brought out a water carafe. He asked if we wanted bread to start and we nodded. We ordered two glasses of red wine. I went with the Bordeaux while my friend asked for the Merlot blend. The bread was pleasantly warm and it was served with salted French butter. I ordered the Canard a L'Orange while my friend ordered the Chevre salad and Hachis Parmentier (kind of like a French shepherd's pie). The meal was delicious. The duck confit was tender even on the bone. The potatoes were sitting under zucchini noodles which I thought was a strange choice. It was good though. I tried some of the salad and was delighted with the warm goat cheese. The casserole was also nice with the braised shredded beef. We had a great time conversing and ordered Profiteroles for dessert. The profiteroles were stuffed with vanilla ice cream and topped with melted chocolate and almonds. We had a great time. Our server was okay and it took some time getting his attention. It was a busy Friday night for them. We paid and continued to chit chat until we left. We weren't rushed in anyway which was nice. If you're looking for authentic French fare, check out Moulin day or night.

Pickles F.

Yelp
Revisited here and got the saumon ratatouille! It was very flavorful and clean! We also got several desserts. The berry sorbet was sweet and tart. The ile flottante was the most interesting (but very sweet) and the soufflé was super light with a good chocolate flavor that wasn't too decadent

Sidney W.

Yelp
Fantastic food, and fantastic service. We love this amazing French restaurant right in our backyard. Highly recommended!

Yelp
So so so good. We come here every year on our annual trip to Newport. This last time, we ordered: + French Onion Soup 5/5 + Hachis 3/5 + Trout 4/5 + Beef Bourguignon 5/5 + Mussels (not pictured) 5/5 + Escargot 4/5 I order the Beef Bourguignon every time. I feel like the portions have gotten a littttle smaller but it's still delicious. My dad orders the mussels every time. He loves it so much, he dips the complimentary bread into the leftover sauce. We came on the Friday after Thanksgiving at 6:30 and didn't have to wait. There's also bar seating if it's too busy.

Yelp
REPLY TO LAURENT (see pic) Very professional reply Laurent to a customer who is giving an honest personal assessment of their experience. Perhaps you should spend less time on social media and more time in the kitchen improving your dishes. I meant what I said. Your food is incredulously overrated and this is coming from someone who has traveled to France since childhood eating at Le Bristol Hotel, Le Comptoir and the likes. Maybe a little bit of humility in your response can serve your business better and I might it it another try. But your pompous French attitude certainly won't get me back in the door. Good luck.

Andrea M.

Yelp
One of my favorite date night spots. We've been here a handful of times and I can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet. This restaurant really does its best to make you feel like you're in Paris. The menu offers all the french classics and decent selection of wine. Start with the french onion soup. Highly recommend getting your own bowl because they are small and honestly, it's so good you won't want to share. My favorite entree is the boeuf bourguignon. The beef is extremely tender, noodles cooked to perfection and the stew itself is rich and creamy. My husband loves the coq au vin. The chicken was so tender is fell apart with just a fork. I always look forward to coming back. While the restaurant gets busy, I've never had to wait to be seated, which is really nice. The service is hit and miss, but the food is so good we choose to look past it. Tonight we had to ask our server for bread four times before he finally brought it out to us. On a separate occasion our server forgot about us and went on lunch so we had to request our check at the bar.

Yelp
My husband and I haven't had escargot since our cruise trip years ago. We decided to check this place out since they have escargot as an option for an appetizer. As soon as we stepped into those front doors, the vibes reminded me of being back in Paris. Lots of pops of red colors. We ordered the French Onion Soup and the Escargots as our appetizers to share. Both were very delicious! For our entrees, my husband was stuck between the Beef Bourguignon and Le Steak Au Poivre. We ordered both. I wanted the Daurade Pomme Vapeur. We preferred the Le Steak Au Poivre over the Beef Bourguinon. The peppercorn sauce was delicious, and the steak was cooked perfectly. We both really enjoyed my Sea Bream. It was cooked perfectly. The sauce was tasty, as well. We finished off our dinner with a Souffle au Chocolat. It was the perfect ending to our meal. Our service was wonderful. We were assisted by Jasmine and Jeremy. They have indoor and outdoor seating available. There's free parking in the plaza.

Yelp
We often visit Boullion when we visit family and friends in the OC. However, last night's dinner was quite disappointing for our party of six. We ordered wine, but our waitress seemed unfamiliar with the proper way to open and serve it. Thankfully, our nephew kindly stepped in to assist her in opening the bottles. To start, we ordered two servings of mussels, which were tasty. Unfortunately, the French fries (pomme frites) were a complete letdown and definitely not worth the calories. They arrived at room temperature and were disappointingly soggy. We requested some bread (French baguette) to accompany the mussel broth, but it was also served at room temperature, rather than the warm bread we've enjoyed in the past. The mussel white wine lacked its usual flavor, so we didn't miss having warm French baguette to soak up the broth. Additionally, we ordered two servings of steak tartare, which were good, but, once again, the French fries were served at room temperature and were soggy. I mentioned this to the waitress, and she mentioned that she would inform the chef. We also ordered a bowl of French onion soup along with our other appetizers. However, it wasn't served until after we had finished the other appetizers. It was tasty, although not the best we've had. For our main courses, we ordered the daily special, which was the beef stroganoff, and it was absolutely delicious. The Canard à L'Orange (duck) was good, but a bit on the salty side. The Le Steak au Poivre came with French fries, but due to our previous experiences, we inquired about substituting the French fries for mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, we were informed that absolutely no substitutions were allowed. We then asked if we could order a side of mashed potatoes and were willing to pay extra for them, but we were still not allowed to pass on the French fries. However, the steak itself lacked flavor and was rather tough, although it was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was delicious. The Le Burger Francis was tasty. However, the tomato slice was extremely thin, almost see-through. I had to lift the bun to ensure the lettuce was there because it was so small. Due to the slow service, we asked if we could take home two Tarte Tatins to celebrate my birthday. Unfortunately, we were informed that it wasn't possible because it came with ice cream. We suggested omitting the ice cream and we would buy some from a nearby store, but we were politely told that it wasn't an option. We settled for the crème caramel, which was delicious. At the end of our meal, we tried to pay with three credit cards, but were told only two could be used. We split the bill between two cards and attempted to pay cash for the third person, but again were told it wasn't allowed. The restaurant strictly allows only two forms of payment. We paid with two cards and divided the cash among ourselves. The restaurant has a charming French atmosphere. However, the management should reconsider their rigid policies and be more flexible with their customers. Our group of six may need to reconsider returning to Bouillon due to these many challenges.

Yelp
This place I got nothing else to say but go there and try it, it will change your life. The service was amazing and the food oh my god or Buddha this place deserve more than 5 star tbh.

Yelp
First time here, will definitely be back again! No wait time on a Tuesday at lunch. Our server, Seda, was excellent from start to finish! She was patient with us with a friendly attitude, even when figuring out just what kind of coffee to get. She also was always looking out and tending well to many tables. We always felt taken care of. I can't remember the last time a server provided such care in their work. Much appreciated! We got just what we wanted for food. So generous with the mussels in a tasty broth, and we couldn't stop eating the crispy fries that came with it. Great escargot. Really good bread and butter too. We enjoyed how spacious the space was and all the details (little piece of chocolate came with coffee, French furniture and decor, reminded me of actual restaurants in Paris). Looking forward to our next visit soon! :)

Yelp
It pains me to update my review. So much has changed recently, and for the worse. The menu was revamped and not for the better - the prices increased, the portions diminished, and the bread is no longer complimentary, it now costs $5. Worse, even if you order items which "should always be served with bread" (a direct quote from the owner, who observed my ordering the French onion soup once), such as soup or escargot, you'll receive maybe three slices and no butter. I understand not offering complimentary bread but this seems a bit too far. My favorite salad was made into an appetizer which for $11 was honestly insulting; the full size salad was double the volume and $16. While I do understand the food costs have increased this seems to be excessive in my opinion. The new salad they've offered is $20+! If I wanted to pay this I would go to Pelican Hill for their Caesar salad and enjoy an overpriced meal with a view at least. There is now a combination selection on the menu, which is nice, but you won't save any money - all the items offered for this add up to the total you would pay regardless. Overall, I was so discouraged to see these changes (and I gave it a fair shot) that I've stopped coming to what was previously my regular haunt for lunch/dinner. Again, I understand that with rising food costs there will be price increases from time to time, but this was too much and too soon; and I'll admit that I am a bit irked by the downgrading of my usual salad to an appetizer that is not worth the price. Perhaps that was the final straw for me. I really mulled over whether or not I should write this review, but I feel like it needs to be said and as I know Laurent personally reads and responds to these, perhaps he will consider this not a moment of "oh well, you can't please everyone" but rather an honest expression of dissatisfaction from a once loyal regular customer. Au revoir, Moulin. I'll have to look for a new spot to dine, and will no longer recommend you to everyone in town because many of the things I once loved about you are gone --excluding the lovely staff, of course.

Yelp
A nice spot to grab some French food in OC. The interior was cute and felt like I was back in Paris at a cafe/bakery. The food was pretty solid. We ordered the steak tartare and the French onion soup. They have a nice selection of wine but nothing too amazing on that front. The service was great though, they were very attentive and friendly! I really enjoyed bouillon MOULIN because of the ambiance and atmosphere. It's a solid place to get breakfast or lunch and we'll definitely be coming back for that!

Yelp
Bouillon Moulin (B ) in Irvine : a cute French bistro, good but not yet great. Long haul flight to Asia soon, so my daughter said "let's not do Asian tonight." Found a cute French bistro close to us and so, away we went, especially after scrolling through some pics of the escargot. The restaurant is cute, very reminiscent of a French bistro with the wall decorations. Even some flies on the sofa for the real, summer in Paris effect Bread (B ) - Hot, crunchy, & moist, as good baguette should be. Best part, all you can eat so we were happy campers. Salad (B ) - Refreshingly acidic, light, and veggies served at the perfect temperature. Pine nuts added pop. A good salad but needed more flavor to reach the next level. Escargot (B+ ) : Snails, such tasty creatures! Nice, large, garlicky & buttery escargots, with that meaty, bouncy texture. Could have eaten more than two, but we had other dishes to try. We happily soaked up all the herby butter with the 2nd basket of baguette - very enjoyable. Coq au vin (B- ) : Is this how a coq au vin should be? I expected it to be a quarter chicken leg, slight crunch on the skin, swimming in a pungent wine sauce. What we got was a separated drumstick & thigh, with the skin never having kissed a frying pan before braising, and instead of being served swimming in a beautifully reduced sauce with chunky carrots and peas, the chicken was served on a bed of carrot puree. And a touch more salt would have helped elevate the sweetness. In the end, a so-so chicken dish that was "not bad" but nowhere near great. Les moules marinieres (B+ ) - It's been so long since I've had fresh tasting mussels. Garlicky, buttery, & savory soup to go with the sweet, tender mussels with absolutely no hint of fishiness. Maybe missing a little salt but still very tasty. Tarte tartine (B- ) : Uninspiring, and not really a tarte tartine. Totally missing the burnt, caramelized smoky texture & taste on the apples, and the pastry got soggy from the apples. The ice cream ball was portioned for a Chihuahua on diet. Nonetheless, cooked apples, pastry & ice cream, so I begrudgingly give it a B-. Overall, it was still a pretty good experience. Compared to San Diego restaurants, a pretty decent value. Adding to the SoCal revisit worthy list.

Yelp
Moulin is has been my go-to french cafe for years! I always enjoy their smoked salmon eggs benedict, which is available on weekends until 3 PM. They also have a lot of other entrees and desserts that I would love to try one day, but so far their eggs benedict is just so hard to beat that I stick to that! I also really enjoyed their mocha. In addition, they have a smaller store next door with baked goods and other french goodies.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. Escargot and beef stroganoff and with cream brûlée. Excellent bread and butter

Yelp
I thought this place was just ok. The Bourguignon was tough, the duck had orange syrup that was overpowering, and the 8 dollar side of fries was meager. Compared to real French brasseries, this is double the price for half the food experience. If I found this place in Paris I'd consider it a tourist trap, and I guess that's what it is here too. But it's easier than a 10 hour flight.

Yelp
Sat at the bar on a Sunday afternoon and was in heaven! A glass of champagne, escargot and charcuterie board were all pure perfection. The service was great (although one server was a bit less friendly) and the menu offers an extensive selection of items. I can't wait to go back. Parking lot can be a bit congested, so you have to search a bit for a spot. Overall, a top notch pick for lunch.

Yelp
I love this place!! It's open air light & bright with French vibes. The food is really good with lots of classic dishes I love like Coq au vin, Beef Bourgeon and pate. The service is great and they're very friendly and helpful. Corkage is $30 but wine prices are very reasonable.

Yelp
The desserts are to die for! They are so tasty and not to sugary! The service was quick and helpful! The ladies behind the counter answered all of our questions! Lastly the feel of the place is like a 1970's French shop! Very festive and in that era! Come here for the pastries! I had one of everything and it was worth the high price tag.

Yelp
I wanted to treat myself to a nice meal, and I ended up at Bouillon by Moulin. I have been wanting to come here for some time now so I was very excited for my meal. It felt like a rough start with service since I was seated right at the door and the cold gust blew at me every time the door opened. Also I had a long amount of time to review the menu and decided what I wanted, as I looked up and no one came by. The restaurant was pretty empty so I asked the hostess to relocate and also if someone can be sent to take my order. Once I was assigned someone to take my order. This person seemed really nice and sweet, but probably just a tad lacking training. I won't say their name but I'll just provide feedback for process improvement opportunities. Hot Tea ($5.00) - They did not seem to remember the tea selection too well. I asked for honey and it came on the side, but I did not get a spoon to stir it in. The base on the cup between the cup and the plate had spilled tea... so every time I picked up my cup I would get tea drippings everywhere. I had to clean it so tea could stop dripping on me. To their credit I really love the Palais Des Thes brand Paris For Her blend, a Rose Green Tea with notes of lychee and raspberry. I actually love it so much I looked into buying some for personal use at home. I was offered some hot water while my tea was still full, but not any as it was empty at the end and there was no staff around to ask for more hot water or I would have because I really loved this tea. Complimentary Bread and Butter - Fresh bread, much appreciated but I didn't want to eat too much anticipating a glorious meal to come. Soupe a L'oignon ($10.00) - Traditional French onion soup. Delicious but a bit difficult to eat. The cheese and the bread was hard to dig into with the spoon so I feel like I could not get even bits of French onion soup with the breaded and cheese pieces. Escargots ($12.00) - Comes in a portion of 6 snails cooked with butter, garlic and herbs. It looks like the serving dish it came out of was specifically made for this dish. These snails have already been removed from their shells and cooked to be super soft. The texture was impressively tender and not chewy at all. I love garlic and I love butter but I wasn't a fan of the herbs. My kind waiter mentioned I can take bread and dunk it into the excess. Had I liked it, I would have gladly. Canard a L'orange ($28.00) - This lovely duck dish is a French classic. I love the reduction on the bottom and there was a nice layer of fingerling potatoes that the duck rested on and 2 asparagus. The duck had a nice crispy skin, but it was bone-in making it difficult to eat. I feel like I should have been given a decent knife to eat this meal. I used the same knife I spread butter onto my bread and it did not do the duck justice. I just ate enough of it there, and brought the rest home to eat in the comfort of my own home. The orange sauce was heavenly with the orange flavor enough to be present but not overwhelming or too sweet. I would have just preferred a de-boned duck. Enjoyed the taste of my meal for the most part but there is room for improvement on the service and the function of the meal. For those reasons I feel like this is a good place for eating casually or alone, but not so much on a date or a business meal.

Yelp
Great French food and also French Gourmet to go shop next door! Also has hard to find items you usually don't find all in one place.

Yelp
I got home with the lady finger cookies I purchased for my grandma to try and realized they expired in April! I don't know the return/exchange policy so pretty sure I lost $7. Deli and coffee is amazing here, but double check any pre packaged items before purchasing. This was a minor, but avoidable inconvenience.

Yelp
We went on a Friday 7pm and had to wait for 40mins for a table. The owner was also dining in the cafe and saw us waiting for quite some time so he came out and mingled to try to kill time. Service was slow, so slow the waiter felt bad and gave us our second glass of wine on the house. As the waiter was telling us they had a big party so the kitchen was a bit busy. Food quality was very good though, can't complain about that. Typical French cafe menu and food was cooked with care. Serving plates were all hot for entree which was a much appreciated special touch. Tarte Tatin were sold out by the time we ordered desserts so we settled with three desserts instead of four (to share among the three of us ! Lol) It's not usual there's Lle Flottante on the menu (meringue floating over creme anglaise) so we took the opportunity and ordered. It was sublime and a must try ! The whole dessert was light and very delicate (but certainly not the calorie count - worth it though). We would return for another casual dinner when I don't feel like cooking !

Yelp
The best food and pastry in the world. I feel I am dining in France, their French onion soup is one of the Best I have ever tasted. It had complete with full flavors. I have basically eaten through their menus. The staffs are all hardworking and so professional, thank you...

Yelp
Wry nice ambiance casual France restaurant. The food are excellent, all the people who work there are friendly. We ordered: Coq Au Vin, Duck Confit, Pappardelle , all very delicious

Yelp
Outstanding food and service at this classic french bistro. It has a casual vibe but i can tell they hold a high standard in terms of design, decoration of the restaurant to ingredients and taste. We enjoyed every single dish from appetizer to dessert and coffee. I do recommend the escargot as appetizer. The sauce with garlic and butter is so tasty with bread. The bread here is excellent- crunchy crust and soft inside. The entrée portion looks small at first glance but it is actually just the right size along with appetizers, desserts, drinks etc as a full meal. A bitter chocolate square was served with coffee. It taste great together. The atmosphere here is lively and fun. Just phenomenal. They have a sister cafe in the same plaza couple stores down. The cafe serves brunch and pastry. Will for sure come back to moulin - both the cafe and bouillon. One thing to note is that they do not take reservations. We came early on a Saturday evening around 5:40 to get the round table for party of 6.

Yelp
Moulin was a cute French Bistro. It was decorated perfectly and transported you right to a restaurant in France. It wasn't too crowded on a Friday night, but it was definitely lively in the dining room. Our server was wonderful, very personable and attentive and sweet. We ordered a bread basket for $5 and although the baguette and butter itself were delicious, I would have appreciated better presentation as it came in a plastic red basket. For an appetizer, we got the French Onion Soup, by far the best thing we ordered! It was delicious, super rich and flavorful. Not too salty and came out piping hot, just how it should be enjoyed. The cheese on top was not overwhelming, just perfect. Our entrees included Steak Frites and the Pan Fried Sea Bream. The Sea Bream was pan fried skin on and had a nice crisp to it with a creamy caper sauce. The sides were underwhelming. They included creamed spinach and boiled potatoes. The spinach was too creamy and hard to enjoy. The steak frites were yummy but I wish my meat was a little bit less tough. I asked for medium rare but it came out a little more rare than expected. The peppercorn sauce that came with the dish was super flavorful and I dipped every bite in it! I wished the fries were skinnier but they came out piping hot and seasoned well. The side frisée salad was delicious and complimented the meat nicely. Overall, it was an enjoyable dinner and we would go back but probably order a bit differently! 3.9/5

Yelp
We're in town for work and had a craving for some bistro classics. After some Google/Yelp searches, we came across Bouillon Moulin not too far from where we're staying and decided to give it a go. We decided to grab a few items off the smaller plates to share. The steak tartare came out first and it was pretty tasty, though far from the best steak tartare we've had (if you're in SF, you must try the one at Monsieur Benjamin). It's priced as an entree and there's an upcharge to get the egg yolk added so it ended up being nearly $30 (with tax), which is a bit pricey. We also tried the terrine, which was served simply with some mustard, cornichons, and pickled onions. It was okay - not our favorite terrine by a mile, so we'd likely not order again. The onion soup on the other hand was actually quite - piping hot with the melted cheese. The broth had a robust beef flavor accented by the sweetness of the caramelized onions - really good, though give it a few minutes before you dig in to avoid burning your tongue :) Lastly, we also tried the escargots, which were perfectly tender and drawing in persillade, which had a nice herb flavor. We had originally intended to order an entree to share, but we were completely stuffed. They have a short wine list that isn't published online and the corkage is $30 with a maximum of 2 750ml bottles per table.

Yelp
Went to Moulin for a breakfast and decided to come back to the area next day for Bouillon!! Excellent French foods and phenomenal ambience, it made me feel like I'm dining in France. Prices are reasonable, we can eat well without breaking the bank. Tried different dishes here and they were all delicious! Coq Au Vin - yummy, fall off the bone chicken Mushroom Risotto - weekly special, just ok Steaks & Frite - everyone's favorite, espies the frites and their homemade mayo I believe. Would totally prefer the French mayo over the American one. Sea bream - well cooked, fish was moist. French Onion Soup - solid, authentic Escagrots - yess! So good with the garlic butter sauce. Service was friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend Bouilon for authentic French foods! If you come for lunch, you can stop by Moulin for some desserts and pastries.

Yelp
Best caesar salad Ive ever had, absolutely perfect! Salmon was fresh and moist. Bread is fresh and delish. Place is adorable and cozy.

Yelp
Mediocre spot for dinner. Heard great things about the escargots, but wasn't anything spectacular. Besides tasting butter and oil, not much other flavor. The Le Steak Au Poivre was good, but the amount of steak for $28 was a bit ridiculous. Very little meat and they rely on you to eat a bunch of carbs to feel full (fries and their complimentary bread). Service was okay. Our server kept forgetting what we needed and basically never checked our table unless we flagged him down. Overall, place is okay to try something new, but wouldn't be somewhere I'd recommend a second time.

Yelp
I took two friends here for a business lunch on a Friday at noon. It was our first time at this "Bistro" and I immediately felt comfortable walking into the bright airy space. I decided to show up a bit early to make sure we were going to get a table. Fortunately, arriving early wasn't necessary as the restaurant is rather large and has plenty of seating. I was able to peruse the menu before my friends arrived and asked a few questions that were answered by our lovely and knowledgeable server, Seda. One friend and I went for the classic, Boeuf Bourguignon ($26.00), served in a large bowl with mushrooms, carrots, and a nice serving of pappardelle tossed is a light sauce. It was super tasty. I heard my friend actually groan with approval after devouring his first bite of the fall apart tender meat buried in a luxurious sauce that only a Frenchman could make. I could have eaten twice the amount they served me. My other friend had the Le Steak au Poivre ($28.00), Hanger Steak (medium rare please), crispy killer frites, that came with a green salad and the peppercorn sauce on the side. The steak was perfectly prepared and I can vouch that the fries tasted great. My friend said it was delicious. We also had an order of the escargot ($12.00). This unfortunately was the weakest part of the meal. It wasn't bad but it didn't knock my socks off as much as I was hoping for. I just hope the next time I order it, there is a bunch more garlic in the garlic butter. We finished with 3 Americanos ($5.00/each). They give you a little square of bitter chocolate alongside the coffee and it sure tastes great together. I loved bouillon MOULIN and my guests did too. One said he is looking forward to taking his wife there soon and so am I. The owner sure has a knack for the restaurant business and is a great owner operator. 5-Stars!
