Boulangerie Christophe is a charming little gem conveniently tucked just off Wisconsin Ave NW in Georgetown. This cozy French pastry shop consistently delivers some of the most delicious and authentic French pastries in the area. There can be a short wait at times, especially during peak hours, but the friendly and efficient staff keeps the line moving smoothly. Inside, the ambiance is warm and welcoming, and there’s also a cute little seating area out back—perfect for enjoying a croissant and coffee al fresco. Prices are reasonable, especially considering this is one of the few truly excellent French pastry spots around. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Georgetown and craving something sweet!

My favorite spot in Washington, DC! The food was absolutely impeccable, and the service was incredibly friendly. It’s such a cute place with a cozy atmosphere. My husband and I shared the Eggs Benedict with salmon and the Nutella crepe, both were amazing! We also grabbed a baguette, pain au chocolat, and a crème brûlée to go, and everything was delicious. The latte was smooth and flavorful too. Plus, the neighborhood is super charming. Definitely worth a visit!

Google
The apricot tart was exactly what I needed. The bread was soft and flaky with a creamy and smooth filling that balanced well with the tart fruit. There was a bit of a line but it moved fast. The ordering itself was a bit confusing since it was not straightforward whether the ordering was done at the register or before hand but maybe that was just me. The atmosphere was great as well. A cute are with plants in the back as well as a nice view out to georgetown in the front.

Google
Coffee is ok But the deserts are perfect - you come here for the pastries, croissants, tartes, and French bread. Coffee - no regrets, better than in most places, but not perfect.

Got in before closing time with the expectation that pastries would have passed their prime. How wrong we were. Apple tarts were delicious. Service was helpful and friendly. Enjoyed the experience very much.

This might just be my new favorite place for a grab and go pastry and coffee. I had the Chai Latte and it was perfect with a Vanilla Flan that was tasty. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Will be coming back!

Good bakery. Nice selection and filled with regulars. No complaints. We got a lemonade and a chocolate chip pain suisse

The pie is just the bomb! I think this is my first delicious pastry in America. Everything is great, except for the disposable tableware.

Yelp
An absolute classic. I came here right before closing on a Sunday evening and the line was jampacked with customers getting their beautifully wrapped baguettes to bring home for the week. I grabbed a mocha and a butter croissant for a little evening stroll and I was immediately transported to France when I took one bite. My family LOVES croissants and gets them regularly, but never have I ever had one in the DMV area as good as this one. The laquer, the flakiness, the air pockets, the butter...it was truly a religious experience. My mocha was also absolutely perfect. I am literally counting down the days I can go back, this was so, so, so good!

Yelp
The pistachio raspberry tart was phenomenal. The omelette was pretty good but not groundbreaking. Food unrelated but they actually gave me the wrong omelette and were a bit rude. I'd come back for the baked goods but not for breakfast.

Yelp
I cannot believe how bad a visit could be! This place and its branch in Potomac MD has been one of our go-to places for French pastries and food. The croque monsieur was dry and tasteless and seemed like it had been sitting around for hours. The two crepes ( salmon and egg with ham) were overly dry and "toasted/crispy?) Yes, it was buckwheat and we expected a tougher bite than traditional crepes but it was a chore to eat it. We didn't finish the crepes! I hope this experience is not going to be repeated but, truthfully, there are other nearby bakeries where you could get better items.

Yelp
This bakery was a good size! There were dine-in seating options and there was a large display case (I didn't get a picture, sorry!) full of sweets and savories, including baguette sandwiches, ratatouille, quiches, potato gratin, and more. The woman helping me was frankly amazing. I wanted a lot of items and wasn't confident in my pronunciation, but she was attentive and quick. She said the pain suisse was better than the apricot croissant so I got that instead. 1. Butter croissant 5/5 2. Pain suisse - croissant filled with chocolate chips and vanilla pastry cream 5/5 3. Millefeuille - puff pastry with vanilla pastry cream decorated with a layer of fondant 3/5 4. Praline Paris Brest - pate à choux with praline crème mousseline 4/5 5. Pistachio/raspberry - an entremet of pistachio mousse, raspberry gelée, pistachio cake 2/5 6. Sourdough 5/5 The croissants and sourdough were fabulous. My fiancé began a sourdough starter not long after finishing the loaf. He didn't give me a bite of his butter croissant (bummer), but he loved it. I put the pain suisse in the microwave for about 5-10 seconds and was in heaven. The chocolate melted and it wasn't too sweet. I wish I ordered 10 more. The pastry cream, crème mousseline, and mousse were very smooth and I appreciated that the mirror glaze on the entremet was very thin. Unfortunately the puff pastry was burnt and therefore the millefeuille was bitter. The pistachio/raspberry entremet didn't have very much flavor. The main flavor I tasted was the raspberry gelée, which had seeds in it. All of the patisserie is beautiful and it's clear the pâtissier has great technical skill. I definitely want to come back and try one of the sandwiches

Yelp
Returned one year later for the third time to try other things, but still the same reservations. The Eclair au Chocolat was ganache filled instead of custard (crème pâtissière), which made it harder and too chocolaty. The pistachio mousse was alright. Not bad, just not typical French. Not enough A/C in the dining room, unpleasant in this heat. We are not returning.

Yelp
With a line, and then reached almost out the door at 10 o'clock on Friday morning, you could tell that people really love this bakery! I was very impressed with the almond croissant I got. It had loads of natural almond flavor, without the overly sweet taste of marzipan. The lamination in the dough was excellent! Next time, I would love to eat in their airy but shady back patio space. Definitely plan to come back!

Yelp
Popular, busy patisserie in heart of Georgetown that is worth trying but not a consistent go-to bakery. All the pastries are aesthetic, and the interior and display are very nice. There is plenty of seating available. Croissants look better than they taste. Well baked on the outside but a little dry on the inside, and the chocolate and almond croissants had very minimal filling.

Yelp
I was in the Georgetown area for the annual French Market, and we decided to continue with the theme of the day and stop by this bakery! There was a line but it moved pretty quickly. The staff seemed a little overwhelmed and rushed us, but we were able to order quickly. It's fairly spacious in the back with a large patio so we were able to secure a table quickly as well. We decided to just get some treats. They were out of their chocolate croissants already which was a bummer, but we ended up getting the eclair, creme brulee, and a millfeuille. The eclair was good, though a little doughy, but I loved the creme inside. The creme brulee tasted good, but the texture was off, tasting like it had sat there for a while or had congealed a little. The millefeuille was my absolute favorite though. Although it was definitely messy to eat, it was delicious and not too overpowering!! Cute spot, would definitely come back to try some other treats.

Yelp
We came during the French market and there was a line out the door to try this place. Unfortunately, we felt the location was slightly over hyped and the pastries, though they looked gorgeous, were just okay flavor wise. We ordered an apricot croissant, tropzienne slice, and baba au rhum. The apricot croissant was very tart but good. The slice was delicious but lacking sweetness and didn't really have much flavor. The baba au rhum we had to throw away due to it being drenched in alcohol, we felt like we were taking a shot of liquor, it really overpowered the pastry. The pastries ranged from $5-7. The inside is beautiful with outdoor seating. Overall, the pastries were okay, but the taste wasn't anything that would have me coming back for more.

Cyndy K.

Yelp
Cyndy's Bottom Line: Yummy croissants *Walk ins welcomed *On street parking if you are lucky or park in the neighborhood *No table service. Be ready to place your order. Find a table in the back or a seat at the counter or tables outside in front. *Wide selection of French pastries This is what I ate: +Mushroom omelette - I expected a proper classic French omelette with mushrooms instead I was disappointed to receive an over cooked omelette with brown burnt edges not rolled, dry not creamy in texture with tasteless mushrooms. +Mini chocolate croissant- yummy delicious croissant so flakey and buttery. A must order. *Be ready and quick to place your order because the line forms and there are crowds of people waiting for their coffee. *Recommend the croissants and carry out.

Yelp
This restaurant is very crowded but that's to be expected in dc. The food is mid but the prices are decent so I guess it's okay. The bread was really hard and difficult to chew. Also the coffee wasn't filled up all the way which is annoying. This restaurant is nothing fancy I only ate here cause everywhere else had a long wait and I was hungry but if you can eat somewhere else I highly recommend it because there's so many amazing restaurants in dc.

Yelp
Best croissants of my life! What a treat. I really enjoyed my pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant) and coffee. It made my morning. They have a sign in the shop that says they import their butter and flour from France and have won several awards for their breads and pastries. For best selection and least crowds come early and on a weekday. It is much less peaceful on the weekends where it is standing room only. This place is the #1 best French bakery in DC, even better than Je ne se quoi in DuPont, which is a formidable second place contender.

Yelp
Although I've been here several times, this was my first time trying their coffee! The other visits were always full of sweet treats and baguettes/breads. I ordered a regular iced latte, I noticed they use Illy coffee. I was pleasantly surprised with the coffee taste, because it was very well balanced and smooth tasting, with no acidity and it wasn't too milky or watered down either. Will definitely be getting an iced latte every time I'm visiting from now on. The interior is quite quaint, cozy, and cheery, with vibrant pops of hues coming from all of the baked goods! They also have outdoor seating through the back door. Aside from their coffee, their pastries and desserts are always phenomenal, always consistent in quality. Their baguette is simply delectable, truly the epitome of an artisanal baguette. My only complaint with this bakery is that the staff is not always the friendliest. I've been here multiple times, and on each occasion, they have been quite curt, but today was the worst experience I have had thus far. We were clearly waiting our turn in line, and kept getting skipped. One of the employees looked straight at me and made eye contact, and asked "next person", so I started stating my order. While I was talking, she just looked away and yelled "next person", which took me by surprise because I was quite literally in the middle of ordering and she cut me off. She also rung up two other customers before us. When she finally got to us, she kept looking away and talking to another employee while I was giving the order. She couldn't understand that I also wanted a croissant, and was giving me attitude. I am not sure how clearer I could have been, but definitely did not appreciate her attitude and rudeness. Aside from the customer service, everything else is great and always enjoy popping in whenever I'm in Georgetown.

Yelp
Georgetown has a lot of nice coffee shops, but Boulangerie Christophe particularly stood out. They have a large selection of pastries, croissants, pains au chocolat, as well as sandwiches and a few dishes. Everything is reasonably priced too. I ordered a cold brew and a Spanish tortilla. The coffee was surprisingly smooth. I was happy to find a good gluten free option for food. The tortilla was tasteful, I just wish it was heated in an actual oven rather than micro wave. Overall the food was good, my friend got a pain au chocolat and said it tasted authentic. We sat outside in the back, they have a lot of tables. It was a bit crowded for a Monday morning, but we did not wait much for our order and it was easy to find a table

Yelp
A little about my credentials: I recently spent two weeks eating through the South of France. I lived for two years in a francophone country with fresh pastries available daily in the capital. I have eaten my fair share of French pastries in my life. This was, without a doubt, the BEST pain au chocolate I have ever had. I can't believe it! This charming boulangerie has delicious sandwiches, breakfasts, sides, and pastries that are just to die for. The palais royale was wonderful, and the cauliflower gratin was heaven. I will be thinking about this pain au chocolate for the rest of my days.
google avatar

Yelp
Have gone here twice while staying in Georgetown. Delicious pastries, and great European style sandwiches. Also love the back patio area. A really nice spot to enjoy coffee and a visit!
google avatar

Kerry B.

Yelp
The VERY BEST baguette. Not since the once Georgetown French Market closed in 1995 have I found a perfect until now. Crisp & full of air pockets with great flavor! The only bread for which I will go off my protein diet and test my diabetes! It's worth trying to park in Georgetown to have one.
google avatar

Richard L.

Yelp
Swung by Boulangerie Christophe after an afternoon of strolling through Georgetown. We hadn't planned on coming in but after passing by the storefront we couldn't help but stop in. The scent of fresh bread mixed with the sweetness of pastry draws you right in. We grabbed an ice coffee and ordered a lemon tart to share by the big windows that invite you in. The coffee was pleasant and the lemon tart was exactly what we needed after a hot day outside. It was pretty (as pictured) and was perfectly tart for a summer afternoon bite. Will definitely be by again to try out other things!
google avatar

Stacy K.

Yelp
There's a large dog friendly patio in the back. The French toast and crepes were good.
google avatar

Alexis B.

Yelp
Simply the best! I'm French, and I traveled from NC just to eat there because it's that good. Everything they have is delicious so you can't go wrong. Great service done by fellow French people Items we ordered and loved: salmon sandwich (the baguette is to die for), macaron framboise (must try), pain Suisse, délice chocolat, opéra and my personal favorite Paris Brest (best I've ever had).
google avatar

Parisa A.

Yelp
I was really hoping this would be good but it was just too much crème and overpriced. I would probably come again and try something else.
google avatar

Chelsea G.

Yelp
French bistro, featuring pastries, renowned baguettes, sandwiches and espresso. Things you should know: I. PARKING Street parking is your best bet II. SERVICE Efficient and kind III. QUALITY We purchased their salmon sandwich and the baguette encasing the inner ingredients was *chefs kiss* perfection. I see why they have a reputation for their bread. IV. CAPACITY The indoor seating is slim. They do, however, have an outdoor courtyard with more chairs. I've seen families here, people camping out and sipping on coffee, and a lot of to-go orders. Boulangerie Christophe seems good for any occasion ~ whether that includes business, personal, or family.
google avatar

Crystal C.

Yelp
Pros: I really liked my pan raison. I haven't had one in years. I liked my orange juice. It really was fresh squeezed. Cons: there's not really a lot of seats inside. There is a patio. But they didn't have the heaters turned on everyone back there was freezing. Horrible unfriendly employees. Long lines.
google avatar

Jennie A.

Yelp
My first experience here was subpar. I found the croissant pastries to be underwhelming and dry, so avoid those if you go. They have a wide arrange of sandwiches, tarts, and desserts so try those instead. I went Sunday morning and the place was packed with lines out the door. It took a while for my coffee to come out and it was also the wrong order. Lots of patrons and servers spoke french which seemed legit. Overall vibe is a little chaotic but I would give Christophe another chance to try their other baked goods since it's a renown spot.
google avatar

Krissy L.

Yelp
2 stars because what I bought was disgusting. It was soft like mush. It was a nest looking cake item for Easter. The hazelnut flavor was off-putting and I LOVE hazelnut so that's very telling. The service was good though. That's the only positive thing I can say. They told me it was going to be really good and it has buttercream icing. That's not icing. It reminded me of a mousse topping which I don't fancy.
google avatar

Susana H.

Yelp
Had the mushroom quiche. They warmed it up but it was still cold and congealed. The pear almond tart had mostly bread, only one pear. Stopped eating it once I got through the pear. Ambiance is good though.
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
I had two desserts that had raspberries in them. Upon arriving home to enjoy my treats, I realized both had mold on the raspberries and they had no business serving them. Huge letdown.

Nicole B.

Yelp
Great place to grab a quick but quality bite reasonably priced. Outdoor seating in the back and front. We had the omelette with ham, apricot pastry, ham and cheese sandwich and Italian sandwich (mozzarella, prosciutto and tomato. The omelette came out quickly but the staff behind the counter were/seemed completely overwhelmed and it was 15 minutes and a reminder that I was still waiting on a coffee. The outside seating in the back was pleasant.
google avatar

Bella M.

Yelp
Really unfortunate crepes. While the Nutella/strawberry crepe was alright, and only because of the filling- it was hard to cut through and served cold. My mom and I each had a salmon crepe and both looked at each other in disbelief. The batter was some of the grainiest most awful batter, the crepes were hard to cut, they tasted premade and were cold as well. My other kiddo really liked the almond chocolate croissant. The mushroom omelette was not great, and rather small. So unfortunate the crepes were horrendous, take them off the menu if they're going to be served cold and tough to cut. Not sure what's going on with the batter, if they were a few days old it wouldn't surprise me. Would have opted for other items if we knew the crepes were so disappointing.
google avatar

Camille D.

Yelp
Great quality croissants feels like I'm back in Paris again. Their mille feuille was divine. This will be my go to boulangerie
google avatar

Bhavna A.

Yelp
I hate to do this but I had the Paris Brest here thinking of the amazing one I had in Un Je Ne Sais Quoi and it was quite disgusting. The hazelnut cream tasted very stale and had a kind of toothpaste taste and texture. The cream was very dense and heavy and overly sweet and stale. It basically tasted like toothpaste and had no subtlety in the flavor whatsoever. It actually made me sick to my stomach. Yuck. The lady at the counter was not that friendly, had a snootiness about her. But I didn't mind it so much because I thought the Paris Brest would make up for that. But no, it was disgusting. Avoid.
google avatar

Amy T. H.

Yelp
I came by this place to grab a quick lunch. Their baked goods and desserts are very tempting to look at. I would order everything if i could. I got lemon tarte, raspberry macaron, salmon salad, and salmon sandwich. The savory food is alright, they are seasoned well and the bread was delicious. Their sweet treats have a right amount of sweetness. The ambiance is quite nice and relaxing. Could be quite busy during peak lunch hours but it didn't feel too loud or too stuffy. This is a definitely a lovely little spot
google avatar

Julee W.

Yelp
Excellent food and ambiance Came at around 1pm on a Tuesday, no line Picked up a ham and Brie premade on a baguette It was really fresh and the bread was perfect Lacked a little flavor, could have used some dressing. Also got the Tarte Tropézienne, my new favorite cake. Super light brioche with a crisp top, filled with a vanilla custard. Would be incredible with some fresh strawberries or cherries. This is going to be my next birthday cake request. It was spectacular. We ate outback where they had various shaded options of tables and chairs. Super great experience

Yelp
USA's Best Bread Bakers Unwrapped - Winner of the Traditional Baguette, Boulangerie Christophe (Georgetown, Washington DC) Now I'm not a bread groupie by any means, I have more than enough great French bakeries in my New York City to visit. I'm traveling to DC and planned to stop by Boulangerie Christophe. I'd like to see what the hub bub is all about. Walking in, I get that Ooh La la feeling. There on display are various French pastries and some amazing looking breads. The decor is simple yet very French, just warm and inviting. I asked for a cappuccino to start as well as a pain au chocolat. I see a sign, no cash? I had to go back to my car and get my debt card. Once inside, my coffee is ready and my croissant is bagged up to go. I noticed a little courtyard outside so I grabbed a chair and sat to enjoy my breakfast. The croissant was layer upon layer of love and when I bit into the center to the chocolate? That's where the afternoon delight is. Yelps Mr Dessert himself explained the "shatter concept", where a good croissant is the measure of flaky shatter that comes off on your first bite. I look for the texture of a croissant and Boulangerie Christophe has a very authentic product. There was no one in the courtyard, just me and my wonderful French croissant enjoying a warm February morning. After I finished, Now I want to try everything! An Almond croissant the next day would be mushy, any Baguette I'd bring back to New York would surely be hard as a rock. Tomorrow, at dawn, at the hour when the countryside whitens, I will depart. You see, I know you wait for me. I will go through the forest and over the mountains. I cannot stay far from you any longer. Boulangerie Christophe, I shall return. Bill S

Yelp
1. Pear/apple tart: 5/5 if you like that. I personally thought 3/5. 2. Mille-Feuille: 5/5. I wish I didn't have to share. 3. (A rum and almond tart): 0/5. The girl gave us a doo-doo old piece so she didn't have to cut into the one that was edible. This went into the trash. Hence 2 stars for being a weasel shitte. Just treat the customers the way you want to be treated; not duped and made to feel scammed. Next time I drive 60 minutes to get a decent pastry I'll stick with maman.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
I bought baguettes and an almond croissant. I was disappointed with the croissant. it used to be flakier. The baguettes were good.
google avatar

Mackenzie P.

Yelp
Really disappointed with our experience. The woman taking our order did not speak enough English to understand our order and was quite rude. She got 3 out of our 5 drink orders wrong. And once we received our drinks they were all very bad. The espresso was thin and watery and made for very bad lattes, we threw them away. The only good drink was the cold brew from the tap. The pastries are good but did not make up for the bad coffee and bad service.
google avatar

Yousi F.

Yelp
All you need to know is that this is where the French embassy staff comes to get their French pastry fix. if that isnt enough to bring you in, come for the crossiants, if you are lucky to be there before 2:3pm the french toast is amazing. there is a low key back patio that is pleasant in good weather, and for a busy place, the staff is friendly and keeps things moving.
google avatar

Marie Y.

Yelp
Wonderful and delicious French croissants, pastries, bread, sandwiches, cakes, crepes with amazing warm welcome in English and in French for the perfect ambiance! Thank you & Merci Team Christophe: bravo!

Jennifer W.

Yelp
The smoked salmon sandwich is just . It was the first time I ever enjoyed smoked salmon in my entire life. The bread was perfectly texture and all of the other ingredients meshed together well too. The tomato was fresh and juicy. I also got a napoleon and I never had a real one prior to this only the grocery store madness. It was worth every penny and I couldn't recommend this place more.
google avatar

Yaz A.

Yelp
I was craving authentic french pastries and this came up as a suggestion. We got chocolate crosissants and a chocolate cake type pastry which were great, paired with freshly squeeze orange juice. We were told the orange juice came from an outside location and tasted like any other orange juice, so not sure exactly how freshly squeezed it was. Although, it tasted fine enough with the croissants. The girls at the counter were kind and helpful. The pastries were expensive, but it's Georgetown so you're paying for the location. I enjoyed the ambiance there as well.
google avatar

June K.

Yelp
I love this place. Their charlotte is my favorite, absolutely beautiful, and their mille feuille was better than expected. I wasn't a fan of their fruit tart since it was a bit sweeter than other pastries. Inside is very nice and the workers are helpful.

Dawne W.

Yelp
Pistachio raspberry mousse tart was delicious!!!! The courtyard is nice but traps the heat in the summer.
google avatar

Rene H.

Yelp
The whole experience of visiting this bakery is very french. They have an impressive selection of desserts, pastries and coffees/teas. I normally order a tea or latte and absolutely LOVE the creme brûlée here. The patio area in the back is a lot larger than you'd expect and is a pleasant treat if you can grab a table.
google avatar

Christine Y.

Yelp
Authentic French boulangerie that are serving up some rich and buttery pastries, quiches, crepes, and more! If you are in town and in need to satiate a craving for pastries, I would hit this spot up. One thing is make sure to go earlier, because the line gets LONG (outside the door long!) Some girlfriends and I stopped by Boulangerie Christophe for brunch. I ordered a quiche and a palmier (as my dessert) with a caffe lattee. The quiche was very rich, could taste loads of cream and goat cheese. Although the size of the quice was was only about the size of my hand, because of the richness, it was very filling. The palmier was perfectly layered and buttery and sweet. I would definitely get it again. One thing I do want to note is that they don't have the most expansive selection of fresh-cooked brunch food. It is a boulangerie, so quick grab, eat, and go type of place. Most of the food offerings are pre-made and they are going to heat it up in a microwave. Highly recommend the place for all the pastry offerings!

Yelp
One of the few places open on Christmas Day (Dec 25), Boulangerie Christophe did not disappoint (except a little wee bit and it was our own fault). We arrived at this fabulous bakery about 20 minutes before closing to discover long lines and quickly depleting inventory for specialty items (bouche de Noel were all spoken for). The biggest tragedy was we didn't have time to make the tough decisions to try EVERYTHING. Of course, everything we did try was fabulous so no worries just missed opportunities. Sadly, the coffee maker had been shut down for the day by the time we made it to the front of the line so we had to choose espresso based coffee drinks (first world problems). Vanilla flan was exceptional. Croissants and pain aux raisins were selected by my friends. We were a bit rushed and the employees were struggling to close. Next time I will relax with my caffe and check out the garden courtyard out back. Yes, I will be back.
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
Solid pastries. croissant was light/fluffy with nice layers. Madeleine was good. Canelé wasn't set inside. Line moves pretty quickly
google avatar

Marryam K.

Yelp
Waited forever in line, only for them to give us some of the wrong items... Tried 3 different types of croissant(average) and the chocolate cake. I can make way better chocolate cake than that lol, my 3yr old was not into it either. Kind disappointed overall.

Yelp
We have visited Boulangerie Christophe many times. We usually enjoy a sandwich and wonderful cup of coffee and sit in the back, outside. We were in Georgetown today and stopped in for lunch. Both my wife and I decided to have a crepe lunch, with an egg on top. The food in this small shop is so incredibly wonderful. The pastries are the best, the sandwiches are great, their breads are superb (the baguette is an international award winner), and the coffee and Chai tea are among the most flavorful you'll find. Just standing at the counter and looking at the various choices is amazing eye candy. The staff who work here are busy; but they're friendly and helpful. Seating inside is a bit sparce for winter, the outside seating is plentiful but chilly on a cold day. When I walk into Christophe and enjoy one of their creations I truly feel I'm home. This place is a true gem.

Yelp
French bakeries are difficult to come by in most of the U.S., and good ones even more rare. Boulangerie Christophe fills this gap, churning out a taste of France from a two-story cafe in Georgetown. As you walk by, you can't help to pop in as the smell of freshly baked goods waft out on the sidewalk. If you're there early enough, you may be rewarded with a still-warm pastry. While I have not yet had anything aside from what's in the bakery case (i.e the soup, crepes, etc.), the treats I have sampled have been delicious. The croissants are basically an anatomical reference of the perfect croissant -- deep golden brown and flaky exterior, puffy and crunchy, revealing delicate thin layers on the inside in a honeycomb pattern, with a buttery taste. Personally, the almond croissants are my favorite. Aside from the baked items, they also serve a great cup of coffee! The only downside is the ambience -- it can feel a bit frantic at times with the foot traffic from other customers as you wait in line to order. That said, the staff are very kind and will not rush you. The space is small on the lower level, so I recommend finding a table outdoors or looking upstairs. Overall, 10/10 recommend and will visit every time I'm in Georgetown!
