14 James Beard Award-Winning Restaurants in San Francisco | Eater SF

"Chef Nancy Oakes won Best Chef in 2001 for her prowess at glittering restaurant Boulevard, just a block from the water. Then the restaurant itself took home Outstanding Restaurant in 2012. In 2021 the restaurant got a lovely facelift, yet the food remains simple, powerful, and well worth the visit." - Paolo Bicchieri

The 17 Best Restaurants In Daly City - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"This family-friendly New American spot is the kind of place where you can roll in half-asleep on a Saturday morning and leave full, happy, and ready to function like a real human. The retro vibes are strong: Art Deco light fixtures, butter-yellow leather-backed barstools, and a counter where you can watch the kitchen staff flip pancakes and bacon on the flat top. Served during brunch, the Breakfast Club will make you wonder why perfectly runny fried eggs aren’t a standard ingredient on all club sandwiches, and the Swedish pancakes with lingonberry butter will become a new favorite. At lunch or dinner, go for the lamb burger or meatball sandwich, along with an icy watermelon-basil margarita—it’s basically summer in a glass." - gabi moskowitz, patrick wong

First time here, on a Sunday, wasn’t crowded at all. Dined in the lounge area to watch the football game, space is much more quieter than the main dining area. They alsohad a bar in the lounge which was lovely. Everything that we ordered listed below was beyond exceptional. I definitely will be coming back again. And all the staff there were all very nice and friendly. They do have a small parking lot but it does fill up fast.

Google
Well, if you like a Googie style eatery they got you covered. If you like frozen reheated food they got your standard Sysco chicken fried steak, pancake mix and ok coffee. It tastes like every other cheap diner using Sysco products. If you like a bathroom that smells like a festival portapoddy after a week in the sun, check. Very off putting! Parking lot is a disaster, food mediocre and catching a server's eye was hard. The "Lounge" looks like a temp bar set up at a wedding. Great view from the lobby, but not enough to bring me back again. Good for a family with kids, but not a serious breakfast enthusiast.

My wife and I were visiting family and friends on a Saturday night. My wife had a Blue Moon and I had a Maker's Mark with a Coke. Both drinks were delicious. My wife had a meatball sub sandwich and I had fish and chips served with house salad. Both meals were very delicious. For dessert my wife had a slice of cheesecake and I had apple pie a la mode. Both desserts were delicious and not too sweet. It was busy for a Saturday night. And our party had some of the food come out before our drinks. Nice family style atmosphere though.

The staff got our ridiculous to go order ready correctly and quickly . It’s a cute and clean place with lots of natural lighting . The parking isn’t great and I’m between some really busy streets . I feel like their menu has a lot of choices and they’re willing to accommodate any dietary restrictions . The chicken was moist and flavorful . My Sonoma salad was excellent . Great place for a second date or if u need to break up with someone in a safe well lit public venue .

Google
Our first time and everything was perfect. Fast seating, courteous service, larger than expected portions and of good quality. The coffee was surprisingly good, too. A special shout out to our waitress "Ma."

Google
My favorite go to place for special events, birthdays or holidays, any time I dare to try a new dish, it tastes so good, I keep coming back. My favorite is their virgin piña colada, a must try if you go here. The service is definitely one of my favorite parts, everyone is so nice, making the atmosphere elegant and classy.

Google
it was a surprise that the restaurant provided the special dish 鐵板牛肉. very good porch eggs with sourdough. The price is very good. The staffs are all very nice. recommend.

Google
Pick-up order was ready within 20 minutes, so that was nice. The place was much bigger than I had imagined, and was lively at 7:30pm on a November Saturday, and felt bright and warm, unlike the dimly lit and mildly cold exterior. The salmon was fairly good. As were the vegetables and the rice pilaf. I think I would prefer the rice pilaf to be slightly drier though. Anyway 4 ⭐ overall. Recommend.

Teresa C.

Yelp
The food was excellent: the petrale dish, the lamb chops and the salmon. Prince, our server, was friendly and took care of us very well. And the price is right.

Yelp
I'm very appreciative that they are open on New Year's Day. I've been a customer for many years...and at the Lakeside Cafe on Ocean....and it has been my ritual to eat here on New Year's Day...for a long time...and obvious it's a ritual for many others. The food is always outstanding...I'm partial to the meatloaf, which my companions ate (but I ate a salad with prawns today...trying to be prudent with the calories...yet... we ordered a meatloaf to go) and I drank an outstanding berry drink...the house specialty. ...I had two. Desert descriptions would be repetitive ....everything is outstanding. Thank you to ERIC, our wonderful and personable "server"..is that the current term?...but the two other fellows were great too....I just didn't get their names. We sat at a table in the Bar area...Eric and those two guys were also preparing drinks......Great time.

Yelp
My husband and I ordered from Boulevard Cafe through Grubhub. He chose Mom's Meatloaf, and I went with the Lamb Burger. The meatloaf was just okay. It came with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes, and onion rings. Unfortunately, the onion rings were limp, and the meatloaf itself seemed to be a blend of meats rather than just beef, which wasn't to my husband's liking. He also felt it could have used more bread or filler to improve the texture. That said, he really enjoyed the mashed potatoes--they were the standout part of the dish. I ordered the lamb burger, which is described as made with ground lamb shoulder, red onion, feta cheese, and a cumin-lime aioli. In reality, it fell short of that description. The burger was noticeably dry and lacked flavor, aside from an occasional hit of feta. There wasn't nearly enough aioli or red onion and the patty itself tasted plain, almost like unseasoned ground meat. It really needed tzatziki or a more generous sauce. Overall, we expected more flavor from both dishes. The portions were generous--we ended up eating the leftovers over two days--but taste-wise, the meals didn't quite deliver.

Yelp
We've eaten here so many times I lost count years ago. I want to start by saying that not every single thing here is amazing but in my opinion, our go-to things that we order here are consistently delicious. That's the reason I'm leaving the five stars. That and because the service is almost always terrific. Sure, there's been a few hiccups, but when you come here as often as we do, that's to be expected. I mean, come on, everyone has a bad day sometimes. Even cooks and especially servers. Dealing with the public is hard work so be nice to the staff. We've eaten here so many times and have ordered so many different things so I will cut to the chase and tell you the things that we love. Boyfriend and I both love the wings (we order them extra crispy, but that's everywhere not just here), the mac & cheese, sometimes with bacon, but mainly just good old Mac, and the cheeseburger. The cheeseburger here is excellent and I love that they ask you how you want it cooked. I've eaten it here a dozen times, often with bacon, and it always comes cooked perfectly. Their french fries are also awesome. Not too skinny and not too thick. They have that double coating on them that makes them extra crispy and delicious. Boyfriend loves the chicken piccata and the Moose on the breakfast menu. I love the Souvlaki on the lunch menu and the salmon on the dinner menu. The salmon with the lemon butter sauce is amazing here. It's honestly my favorite Salmon that I've ever had at any restaurant. Including fine dining. I've worked in restaurants for well over 20 years. Many of them upscale. This restaurant does not ask you how you want your salmon cooked but honestly, it comes out perfect every time that I've never had to ask them. And no, it's not rare but it's never overdone. It's tender, succulent, and flaky every single time. It honestly doesn't even need the sauce. The sauce is terrific but this salmon can stand alone. That's how good it is and I hope they never change it. We also both appreciate how the vegetables are always fresh. They never taste mushy and there's always a nice variety. The dressings they serve with the salads here are also fantastic. I have to mention that because they genuinely taste homemade. I mean I could be wrong but I don't think I am. They are delicious. Particularly the thousand island and the Caesar. Another thing that's fantastic here are the cocktails. I don't know if they changed bartenders but in recent months the cocktails here seem next level. I mean they were always good, but lately they've been excellent. They have a decent wine list too. A few things I wish they'd improve on or offer are the hollandaise sauce, the Cobb salad (sometimes the chicken is really dry and offer it with Romain instead of soft greens or give people the choice. Such a hearty salad shouldn't go on soft greens), and offering a lamb souvlaki. Also, We have a toddler and I wish some of the hosts would stop trying to seat us in the bar. I understand you're trying to exile the noisy children, but they are little people that need to eat too and some parents don't want to sit in a small bar area. Please stop doing that. Also, if you're going to serve day old bread, it's totally understandable but at least take off the pieces that are super hard. Overall, you guys are doing a fantastic job and we're grateful that you're close to our neighborhood because there isn't a heck of a whole lot here. Thank you for all the wonderful meals and the fantastic service.

Yelp
In SF visiting with family and met up at the Boulevard Cafe. Restaurant has a large dining area which allows to seat large groups. We were a party of 12 and I felt we were a pretty easy group. However, our waiter had so many eye rolls and sighs when we had questions. Not sure why he was in a bad mood but we noticed. If the gratuity wasnt included, his tip would have been very different. Now the food was good. Large portions and food came all at the same time. No complaints there. I've heard breakfast is pretty good so maybe I'll come back.

Yelp
I come here frequently and love how casual the environment is. I normally get the country fried steak and a beer or mimosa. Service is always good and friendly.

Yelp
I have always enjoyed the food and service here and today was no exception. Took a friend there for lunch by accident, sort of. I thought I was making a reservation @ Westlake Joe's as we go for their fish & chips because they are FAB and more than plentiful. But I made a reservation here and we went for the F&C's, and they were GREAT and 3 nice size pieces, cooked perfectly, not greasy and HOT. Killer fries and sad no coleslaw but a decent little salad w/decent bleu cheese dressing, $21. Service was great, very attentive, but not intrusive. Because the space is so large it can be rather loud and off putting, but it did quiet down after a bit. Our reservation was for 12:30, uh, lunch time on a Friday. But honestly, I will always return for the food, price, portions and service. The bar is much quieter, by the way.

Yelp
What an awesome restaurant to eat in. Underrated in my opinion. Located on John Daly Boulevard, Boulevard Cafe offers a clean well lit environment with an extensive menu. Prices are reasonable and fairly cheap for such great food. Waiters are super friendly and our drinks were always filled. They offer their signature fried chicken which was crispy and tender. Even the chicken breast was moist and juicy. Country fried steak was great tasting and not too salty like other restaurants. Parking lot can get pretty tight. Definitely coming back when I return to SF

Yelp
I have never thought going into this place. I have been seeing this place for decades without having the curiosity to pay this place a visit. I'd definitely say this restaurant is very underrated. My boss decided to take me and co-workers for a Christmas dinner. I had no idea what type of food they serve aside from American food. Looking at the menu, they have a variety of menu and they also have specials such as the t-bone steak. My boss ordered us some salads and appetizers. The chicken quesadillas was delicious. Moving on to the main courses, my co-workers had steaks while I ordered a spaghetti meatballs. Everything was fantastic. The desserts were also delicious. Most had the cheesecakes while I'm the only one who had the very delicious chocolate cake. One co-worker had a crème brûlée. I also ordered a chocolate milkshake and a couple of alcoholic drinks. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. The restaurant does not look big from the outside but they have plenty of tables inside. There is also a bar lounge. Lastly, the staff are pretty nice as well. Overall, it is a good family restaurant.

Yelp
Take your in-laws here. Boulevard Café has been a popular Daly City icon since it opened in 2005. It's the kind of place that gives a city character and Daly City would feel a little emptier without it. The goal here is a classic diner experience with some unique signature dishes. It's in a great location easily reached from Pacifica, the Sunset, and anywhere in between. Close to everything. Ambiance Feels more like a cafeteria than a café. Cavernous ceilings and hardwood floors make for a noisy space. The entryway has a nice retro touch, and the seating is cool. The whole vibe feels like it was built in the '60s or '70s -- probably the look they're going for. I found it endearing. Service We were seated quickly, drinks taken promptly, and our order followed shortly after. So far, so good. The service itself, however, was quite lacking. I don't need a whole song and dance, but do try to look like you're conscious. If Soviet-era Brutalist architecture could get a job as a waiter, this guy was it. He had all the charm of a Serbian loan shark growing impatient that we hadn't defaulted yet. Anyway, the food... I ordered the lamb burger, which sounded interesting, and my bestie ordered a light breakfast for lunch of toast, sausage, and fruit. She was disappointed that they didn't have margarine or any other dairy substitute for the toast, but oh well. The lamb burger came with feta and red onion with shredded carrot and lettuce on the side. Or maybe that was a salad with no dressing. (There was enough lettuce that it might have been.) I took a bite and it was dry. I asked the waiter for some mayo, which he dropped off and quickly moved on without comment. The mayo wasn't enough to save it. It was just bland. It really needed something more- like maybe lemon or tzatziki sauce. Also the bun was too soft and poor quality. It fell apart before I had finished, so I had to resort to knife and fork. The horror, I know. Bestie's brunch for lunch wasn't much better. The toast was cold and the sausage was room temperature. The fruit, however, was quite fruity. And that's what you really want in fruit. So high score there. The Service Again I hope this guy was just having a bad day. I asked for more iced tea with my glass set conspicuously next to my bestie's empty water glass. He brought another iced tea, but didn't even ask her if she wanted a water refill. That seems so weird. Is it just me? Bathrooms Bestie reported the ladies' room was clean and nicely decorated. Parking I went on a Wednesday and there was just enough parking. In my experience, it's always been packed on the weekend, so I am assuming parking might be tricky. Things to improve. * Add sun shade. My bestie was a dark silhouette as I was seated facing the window. * Keep water glasses full. It's easy. * Add some noise mitigation. Hero Shout Out! Busboy Juan Carlos was hustling, smiling, and just doing a great job. Turning tables fast and being a boss. Give that guy some Giants tickets or something. He deserves 'em! __________________________________________________________________ I'm a burger snob, as some of you know, but I don't expect a fine dining experience in a diner. I'm looking for that uniquely American diner experience. (See my review of Art's Café). I do expect good service and food that is comforting and delicious. Good examples would be Tommy's or Max's. Boulevard Café just didn't deliver like that this time. Any restaurant can have a bad day and miss the mark. I'll be back to try the banana foster French toast at some point. I'll let you know if I have a better experience. I hope I do because this place really does have some personality.

Yelp
Came here for dinner and was seated in the bar area for the first time. There are tvs playing in the background with the sports games of the evening. It had a good ambiance and service was friendly. The food was ordered in a timely manner and served promptly. Will return to try more of the menu and this is probably somewhere I'd go once in a while for a treat.

Yelp
I tried this breakfast place while passing through Daly City. The ambiance was a retro 60's feel, and the service was decent. I ordered the Blvd scramble and subbed in cheddar for feta cheese. The scramble was average but the hash browns were so burnt it was hard to chew. I like my hash browns crispy, but not burnt to a crisp. It was an average experience.

Yelp
It's been about a year since I was last here for a quick bite with a friend and this time grabbed a quick lunch by myself and decided to sit at the counter. Words cannot describe the condition of the counter seats that have seen better days and are in desperate need of replacement with the chairs looking like the character in Wolverine came through and shredded the material with razor sharp fingers. As is the norm, this place continues to do well with feeding the masses as their dining niche is different to Original Joe's down the street. I recognize familiar faces working the expo line as well as the female manager who has been with them since they opened years ago. Oh Billy- please get those seats reupholstered. My mushroom cheeseburger however was just as good as I remembered from when you were working at this location.
google avatar

Edna A.

Yelp
Food is fresh and has great flavor! The portion size of food is very filling. The service is good as well. The place is pretty big and always very busy. Parking is always a little bit of a challenge.
google avatar

Fiona T.

Yelp
Came here for an early Mother's Day. I love that they have a parking lot so you don't have to worry about parking. Service was standard. Everyone at the table loved the schezwan pork ribs; they were crispy on the outside but tender and easily came off the bone. The alfredo was also one of the best I've had in years. The sauce stuck nicely to the pasta. Wasn't too oily or soupy. The Mediterranean plate was also good. The pesto was okay. It was outshined by the alfredo. I'll have to come back for breakfast. I heard they do breakfast right
google avatar

Mike C.

Yelp
Love Boulevard Cafe and their family of restaurants. Food is very, very good, although certain dishes can be a bit too salty. Service this visit was amazing; a forgot her name, but our waitress was terrific. The wait time can be a bit long, but nothing too bad. Good location with a small parking lot and additional spaces up the street in the back, a bit dark inside and can use some updating with the decor. There were quite a few flies inside buzzing by during our meal, which as you'd imagine was quite annoying.

Yelp
We used to come often for breakfast many moons ago. We past by coming down from taking our dog to Fort Funston. My little one whose 18 now. Asked "what was that breakfast place we went to often, around here called?" We picked up my husband and came back to have dinner here. It was happy hour so we were seated in the bar area they have. The food was delicious and so were the drinks. Our waiter was great and he knows how to make a great Mojito!
google avatar

Yelp
Yesterday I'm afraid was the last straw. While the quality of food has been steady since it opened , despite increased prices, smaller portions and declining customer service as the years have passed, we have continued to patronize Boulevard Cafe. Mostly for the breakfast and the convenience. But yesterday the service was particularly bad. Our server whose initials are V. R. was rude and abrupt, slamming plates down and hovering while paying the bill (What are we going to do? Walk off with the device?). We never have a positive experience with him, dreading when we are put in his section. If he's not happy with his job, maybe he should find another. Other reviews have referenced him as well so we are not alone. Also the language of the newly posted dining "rules" sitting on the host's counter as you walk in is pretty off putting. Moving forward we will make the small trek to Jack's in San Bruno instead. Sort of the spin off of Boulevard Cafe, it has a very similar menu, bigger portions, and most importantly, always friendly staff. We never have a problem there.
google avatar

Jesse S.

Yelp
We have been going here from the start, celebrating family and friends. Had no problems for the most part, until Friday around 6:00. Came in asked for seats for 4, was more told not asked if the whole party was here. Seated on the East section. No problems seating and menu, ordered food. Service was lack luster, no one smiling or even talking. Asked for water to be filled, twice by two different bus boys. No water , I stood up to grab a pitcher of water and filled it myself. No one coming bye asking if everything was okay, usually they do this. Noticed that the hostess was just talking not helping staff. Was more interested in talking to her phone. I will be going to the sister restaurants, as for now this one is no longer on my places to go.
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty disappointed. Over priced items. Small portions. Lukewarm soup. The sign at the podium with all the rules is pretty rude and a turn off. Bathrooms were dirty as well. No reason to return.

Yelp
Came here with some coworkers last week and had a really nice dinner. What we ordered - Orzo Alexandra $20: I've never had this before and this was so good. Love the salmon and the white sauce. Each bite was packed with so much flavor!! The portion was huge and I got to bring it for lunch the next day haha - Schezwan Pork Ribs $16: This was a sweet & spicy Asian glaze ribs. I didn't think it was spicy which was good because I was worried it would be too spicy. Loved the side of salad! - Fried Calamari $19: This was such a great appetizer!!! It was such a bigggg portion too!!! - Fish and Chips $21: There was 3 huge pieces of fried fish and it just melts in your mouth. It's so good with the tartar sauce. I'd definitely get this again.

Yelp
My continued support of Boulevard Cafe, corner of John Daly Blvd & Poncetta is unwavering. With an elevated diner menu in a mid century modern setting that covers breakfast, lunch, dinner and a nice happy hour. Their generous portions of any of their PASTAS and SALADS are delicious and hits the spot. Any grilled proteins are spot on. Especially love starting with AVGOLEMENO SOUP or PRAWN AVOCADO SALAD, and any other mains favs like the GRILLED LAMB CHOPS OF NY STEAKS, FRIED CHICKEN, GRILLED SALMON, FRESH PETRALE SOLE, CHICKEN PICATA, and more. If I have room for dessert I'll go with their warm, comfort treat, BREAD PUDDING! Staff are nice, cordial and welcoming. Easy place for a nice meal any time of the week!
google avatar

Don W.

Yelp
Service is great, Prince is especially responsive and enthused about pleasing his customers. The menu includes a broad range of foods; soups and salads, pastas, sandwiches and many entrees.. something for everybody. All of the foods are prepared nicely. Parking is sometimes limited during j times.

Yelp
I have been here about three times. I think their breakfast food is mid. I went for lunch and dinner and the food was much better. Their grilled chicken with mashed potatoes is really good. The tiramisu was okay, but I have tried better ones. The interior is nice and generally feels like a diverse space. The service is good as well, very attentive servers. I think it's a great place to bring friends and family and I would love to try more of their dishes. It does get pretty loud though, at least the times I have been there, so it can be a bit over stimulating.

Cielita C.

Yelp
First time at this restaurant. Really good option for breakfast/brunch with friends & family. Basic american food menu. The servers were very nice and attentive. The ambiance inside is also very homey.
google avatar

Kim T.

Yelp
My family and I have come here for years. It's always been a solid place for breakfast and brunch. This time, we came on Thanksgiving. We came early enough where there wasn't a line. Our server, Emily, was very attentive and checked in on us frequently. The swedish pancakes and brioche french toast are our favorite go to breakfast dishes if you want something sweet. It's big enough to share too. My parents loved the corn beef hash and country fried steak. We have yet to come here for dinner but I always see that it's busy when I drive by. Glad to have this spot in the Westlake area :)
google avatar

Jason S.

Yelp
Service was really disappointing. Had to ask for coffee multiple times and then when my food finally came, it came out wrong even though I pointed at the item on the menu. When I informed that the order was incorrect they were trying to say I ordered the said item so I got upset and just cancelled it in its entirety. Also, people in my party ordered prime rib and asked for medium and they came out well done and dry. Calamari was good, but my experience overrode the one good thing I liked.
google avatar

Christal M.

Yelp
As far as diners go, this is one of the nicer ones that I have been to. There's plenty of parking but the lot was pretty full on a Saturday around noon. The inside is very spacious and more modern than your average diner. It's a great place for a large group. There is so much on their menu that there's sure to be something for everyone. They have all the usual breakfast staples as well as things like burgers, pastas, sandwiches and salads. I was hesitant about getting seafood but I tried their Scampi Prawns ($24) at the suggestion of our waitress and it was really good. The spaghetti was cooked just right and the garlic cream sauce wasn't too heavy. Everyone else in my group ordered breakfast and enjoyed their dishes too. This was the perfect choice for a casual meal for our group of 9. I would recommend it to anyone wanting good ole American comfort food.
google avatar

Diane G.

Yelp
We have gone to both The Boulevard and Jack's in San Bruno, they are identical and I love it! The Mediterranean platter is my favorite! My husband enjoys the chef's salad and the chili is killer. The pastas, appetizers, Mac and cheese varieties are all wonderful. I still remember a special they had of sand dabs. They were amazing! The service has always been very good. Some servers are more attentive than others but overall it's good. The only down side is the noise level. We have family that are a bit hard of hearing and the restaurant is a bit challenging. We handled that by going at less busy times off the day.
google avatar

Tatiana N.

Yelp
I've been here countless times and always enjoy the food but think I can classify the service as "spotty". For instance, I went recently with a friend and we were instantly asked multiple times in under ten minutes what we wanted to drink and what entrees we wanted even though our menus were still open. On the second visit from our server, we did order a drink. Then the cocktails came after the entree! We were not offered dessert either which was a bummer. It was more than 30 minutes before closing by the time we finished our meals so I'm not sure why we were rushed so much.

Yelp
Went here as a kid with the family and just recently visited. To sum it up, a solid spot that's on the pricier side. Standard complementary bread & butter. Fresh and served warm! Szechuan-Style Pork Ribs - 4/5 - sticky, flavorful, crunchy tips, and tender throughout. I wish there were more meat on dem bones but it was just an appetizer. Cole slaw also surprisingly hit with a nice mint/ginger refreshing taste! Cobb Salad - 5/5 - Made perfectly with the right ratio of ingredients including crispy bacon, egg, blue cheese, tomato, and dressing. +1 for the server splitting up the salad in two for me and my mom. Can't go wrong. Angel Hair Pomodoro with Chicken - 3.5/5 - It overall had a distinct Italian tomato/garlic flavor. If you get this, I highly recommend getting it with protein. It did feel overly watery (prob the tomatoes), which made the angel hair pasta feel super limp/soft and almost nonexistent with each bite. Not bad at all. Kids Mac-n-cheese - 4/5 - a small portion of decadent adult-like mac n cheese! I enjoyed it, my nephew although didn't vibe with it as he's used to just kraft (lol) Service - Friendly and food came SUPER fast. They were busy on a Wednesday evening, so it did take awhile for the server to take our order, and bring us the bill. Ambiance - gives off a clean homey diner feel with a 2000s vibe. My mom said to check out the lounge area next time, as it has a more chill and laid back setting

Yelp
Solid spot. Went in for a late lunch and got a booth easily. Service was great, my chicken club was delicious!

Yelp
We live not far from the Boulevard Cafe and have enjoyed many meals there since they opened. It's always been a reliable standard for our family. So it's very disheartening and frustrating to experience such poor customer service from Boulevard Cafe staff on this occasion when it's always been great. Normally we don't go out for Thanksgiving. But we have multiple older family members who have difficulty getting up and down stairs. So going out to have a Thanksgiving lunch seemed like the easiest way for everyone to gather together. My mother called on Friday 11/21/25 to find out if they were open that day and what times were available to reserve a table for ten people. After conferring with our family, my mother called back an hour later and booked a reservation for 12pm. On 11/23, she called back to ask a question and confirm that the reservation was still on.The staff member on the phone informed her that there was no reservation and asked if we were given a confirmation number. My mother told this person that she wasn't given one and asked what could be done to resolve this situation. The staff member said there was nothing to be done. They didn't attempt to offer another day and time or provide any other resolution to try to fix the problem. This person just kept reiterating that it wasn't their fault.Holidays are always hard to book for at restaurants. But this restaurant has been around for many years and it's equally hard to believe that the Boulevard doesn't have a good reservation system and policy in place, especially for busy times of the year like the holiday season. If this staff member had shown an ounce of empathy and attempted to fix the problem by trying to find an alternative day/time or tried to help correct this issue, this review wouldn't exist. But it is apparent that the Boulevard takes its customers for granted and doesn't think that having front of house staff that can actually provide customer service matters. Do better.

Yelp
Best dessert in town! You don't even look at the dessert menu. Just order the flan! You will not regret it.

Yelp
Mac n cheese was cheesy. The servers were very nice. The hamburger was pretty good. The tables were well aligned for my big party. The lights are too bright. The ice in the Shirley temple was a lot so there wasn't a lot of the drink. The fries were to crunchy. They had paper straws which ended up soggy.

Yelp
Do not order off UberEats. I've ordered from here several times, but most recently there have been multiple occasions where items were missing from my order. I've ordered brunch from here and usually get the mimosa combo, but the sparkling wine is always missing. Additionally, the food quality has been horrible. The dishes are over-salted and just overall disgusting. I couldn't even finish the Godfather Scramble. Seeing the negative reviews they've received, my experience with this establishment makes sense now. I won't be ordering from here anymore. There are much better places where you can order brunch and mimosas and know the quality will be good and that you'll receive all your items.

Yelp
This is my new favorite spot for American food, the service and food is great! I came here on a Sunday night after passing this place so many times, I got the calamari, potato leak soup, carbonara, and rib eye and everything was amazing! I can't wait to come back here regularly.

Yelp
I came here with my boyfriend and his family for dinner yesterday. The restaurant is spacious and has a nice, casual atmosphere. I ordered the Orzo Alexandra. It was delicious - creamy and flavorful. The salmon was soft and tender, and there was a generous amount of it. On the first bite, I could really taste the white wine, but after that, I couldn't taste it anymore. I got to try some of the other dishes that everyone else ordered, and everything was yummy. We had flan for dessert, and it was really good. The flan had a texture and flavor reminiscent of cheesecake and creme brulee. It was rich and creamy, with light caramel. I would recommend trying it, especially if you love flan. The menu is quite extensive, and I would definitely love to come back to try some of the other dishes. Oh, I also have to mention that their portion sizes are really good. I feel like you get a lot for what you pay for. The staff was nice and attentive.

Yelp
We came as a family of four and didn't have to wait long for a table. The food was exactly what you'd expect from a classic diner! The service was friendly, and the entrance and cozy diner booths added a nice touch. We had the chicken tenders, country fried steak, and huevos rancheros -- all tasty and satisfying!

Yelp
My friends decided to have brunch here. It was my first time. Pros: Parking lot Spacious inside the restaurant Food was good (ordered: tuna melts and salads) Friendly staff Seated right away Cons: Nothing I plan to come back to try their other options on the menu.

Yelp
We got there and ordered a latte and some apps. When the server came to take our order the second time she said there's a $30 min on food. We were shocked because this wasn't mentioned anywhere on the menu and definitely seems like a made up policy. Unsure if they saw POC and decided to make this policy in the moment but pretty sure it's not legal and this place won't be getting my business anymore.

Yelp
I've been going here since I was little.   It's been a while since I've been here.   The place was pretty busy as usual.  Upon entering,  it looks like the place recently had a remodel.  The inside dining looks a lot bigger, and the lighting is way brighter.  The decor was simple and modern, but very inviting.     We were greeted and seated right away. Once seated,  we were immediately offered drinks and were given a few minutes prior to ordering.       We ordered: 1.  Country fried steak and eggs -  The country fried steak was well battered and crispy.   Hashbrowns were crispy and soft in the middle. 2.  John Daly with no tomatoes -  The scramble was hearty and flavorful.  3.  Joe's special - Perfect balance of parmesan cheese, groud beef,  spinach, and mushroom in every bite.   It was pretty huge that I had food for later 4.  2x2x2 - Ham with scrambled eggs and pancakes.  This came with a huge piece of ham.  My only disappointment is that I wish it had been with hash browns. 5.  Swedish pancakes - I loved the crunchy edges and the lingonberry butter.   Honestly, this was more than enough.  I ordered a side of bacon, which I ended up sharing with the family      The food here has always been good, whether it's breakfast, lunch,  or dinner.  The only downside is that the parking lot is small and gets full fast. I highly recommend this place and haven't had anything here that I didn't like.

Yelp
All I can say is.. come here if you're in the area! Not crazy expensive, quick, friendly, & delicious! My family of 3 came on a Sunday afternoon, in which was pretty packed. Although packed, we were seated & attended to quickly! We got our drinks & order taken real quick & the food came quick, too! The waitress was also great! My wife had ordered a Cheeseburger & Mac n' cheese, my daughter had the grilled chicken & mashed potatoes, & I had the Carbonara. I had tried everything except the burger. The Mac n' cheese was good! Nothing super fancy, just Mac n cheese, but done right! The grilled chicken was also not dry & was flavorful with a hint of possibly lime, which was a good touch that I wasn't expecting! The mashed potatoes were good as well; smooth consistency & packed with flavor. My carbonara was great! Flavorful! The only flaw was that the noodles could have been cooked maybe 2-3 minutes longer & it would have been perfect! Overall a great experience!

Yelp
I came here with my roommate and my sister in the middle of my roommate and my move back to our formerly fire-destroyed and now rebuilt flat. We had already spent a great deal of time packing up the U-Haul with my brother, and he had a meeting he had to take, so he drove the U-Haul to his office, and I drove my roommate and my sister to Boulevard Cafe. I had seen it while trying to find the parking lot for the nearby Safeway about a month earlier, and I had wanted to check it out. Strangely, I hadn't read any of its Yelp reviews, so when the question of lunch came up, I just headed vaguely in the direction of Daly City with visions of Boulevard Cafe in my mind (but not knowing its name), and my fuzzy geographical approximations ended up being right on target--as usual. It looks and feels like a big production, but don't let that fool you. Boulevard Cafe is just one of those '50s-era large diners that is trying really really really hard to stay current. With its ambiance and decor, yes, but also with its faux-chic menu. Most people and places that try too hard are bad, but there's a funny thing about diners like this--they're usually much better than they themselves even understand, and if they were just themselves, people would probably like them better. The service was pretty good. My vegetarian sandwich was good. My sister ordered the first lamb burger she had ever had. She raved about it, and is still talking about it a month later. It's not a cheap place, but it doesn't feel overpriced. The seating arrangements are zany. There may be booths along the walls, but then those might just be regular tables with chairs. We were sitting in a line of booths between the wall seating and the counter seats. But strangely, our booths were open on both sides, so it would be technically possible for four people to approach the booths from four different places and still get in without having to wait for one another. I eventually got used to it, but at first, having a booth open on both ends on both sides made me feel like I was going to fall out into the aisle. They have a parking lot, which is one of the main reasons I chose this place. After all that packing and moving stuff to the truck, I was in no mood to parallel park somewhere and then walk five blocks to wherever we were going. Plus the GPS led us on a crazy, zig-zaggy way from Daly City back to our old (now new) flat. Thanks for the dining (and driving) experience, Boulevard Cafe. But you're really a diner.

Yelp
I come to this place often with family today I came in and we were greeted very nicely by JJ our waiter. We started off with drinks and and a flat bread pizza we wanted to try something new, but we ended up not finding it to our liking due to the cheese. We ended up getting our food soon after. We got the New York steak and a pasta Alfredo. It wasn't busy so the attentiveness was a 10/10.
