Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina

I recently had dinner at Bourbon Steak in the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach, and it was excellent. The food was cooked to perfection, with every dish hitting the mark. Whether you're into steak or something else, the menu has great options, and everything I tried was spot on. The service was top-notch, with staff who were friendly and really knew their stuff. Plus, the wine list is fantastic—there’s something for everyone and plenty of great pairings. If you’re in the area or staying at the hotel, I highly recommend Bourbon Steak. It’s definitely worth a visit for a great meal and a great experience.

Bourbon Steak at the Monarch Beach Hotel offers an exceptional dining experience that beautifully combines stunning views with outstanding cuisine. The food is nothing short of delicious, with a menu that highlights perfectly cooked steaks and creative sides. This is my third Bourbon location experience after DC and Miami. I think this was the best one by far. What makes it particularly good, surprisingly, were the desserts! They were exceptional!! Tip: try to get there as the sun is going down, or else you get direct sunlight in the dining room and it can get both bright and hot.

My husband and I had a wonderful time at Bourbon Steak Orange County. The atmosphere is classy and the restaurant itself is beautiful. There is a lot of attention to detail here and I certainly appreciate it. I had not been exposed to really good steak before, so we ordered the sample plate, and it was really fun trying all the different types of steak. I will say that my husband and I have decided that we aren't refined enough to appreciate a really expensive steak over a cheaper one, but it was still a great experience. Our favorite dish that we ordered was the truffle mac and cheese. It was THE BEST macaroni and cheese we have ever had. We also ordered some fabulous cocktails. They have a traditional cocktail menu and a less traditional one which is fun. During our dinner the waiter came out with a few small dishes that the chef was trying out and we really enjoyed that! I don't think we have had a similar experience anywhere else. Bourbon Steak's food is absolutely delicious, and the experience is absolutely worth the price! If you are staying at the Waldorf Astoria, or just in the area, definitely get a reservation at Bourbon Steak Orange County.

A special evening for dinner at a lovely hotel, in a stunning restaurant! A modern steakhouse, with options. Delicious amuse-bouche’ were delivered and enjoyed! My husband had a petite filet, and I enjoyed Chilean Sea Bass in a miso broth. A wonderful Birthday celebration (I turn 59)🎉

When dining in at Bourbon Steak Orange County, you are in for a real treat. The restaurant is located just to the left when entering the hotel lobby of Waldorf Astoria Monarch - Dana Point. We had an 8 pm reservation, being sat at a table that wasn't our favorite, not much of an ocean view unless you were on the outside balcony. We have an amazing dining experience from start to finish. The service and staff were amazing! Melissa, our waitress, is extremely professional and knowledgeable! If I could give more than 5 stars to her, I would. The food presentation and flavor were great. Wagyu beef is highly recommended. This is a place to go any time you want a great steak paired with excellent service. Not cheap but worth it.

We had a terrible experience at Bourbon Steak last night. I was in Dana point for the week for work and looked forward to a final meal at the restaurant. It held special memories since I had been a member of the Monarch Resort for years, having moved away in 2021. There were four of us. We were seated outside, which was not an issue but had asked to have the heater moved closer to our table. After asking again 25 minutes later, someone finally acknowledged us and accommodated. We placed our order at 7:45 pm for a tomahawk steak. The food did not arrive until 9:10 pm. When I confronted the waitress about the delay, she dismissed me saying the steak takes ‘30-40 min’ to prepare and because we asked for medium, it ‘took longer.’ It was insulting and bewildering since not only did she lie to us about the length it takes to prepare a tomahawk (I’ve made many at home and ordered it from BS many times), but even worse she did not make any attempt to apologize or accommodate us - no offer for drinks, etc. Nothing. The whole evening felt like we were in a bubble where no one cared about serving us or making up for mistakes. This was all made worse because I have been so many times and looked forward to another special meal. Instead we paid $1000 for cold food and a dismissive staff. Maybe a bad night. Maybe a bad waitress? Who knows? Not sure I’m going back at this point. There are plenty of other choices in DP.

Wait staff was excellent! Couldn’t have asked for more. Steaks incredible! Ahhh what a wonderful night out.
