Bourbon Coffee Review - Porter Square - Boston - The Infatuation

"At first we thought this place spiked every cup of coffee with bourbon, then we disappointingly discovered “bourbon coffee” was just a type of bean. Regardless, this coffee shop - located inside one of Lesley University’s buildings - has a decent amount of seating and outlets, so it is a useful spot for getting work done when it’s not filled with college students. Perhaps the best part of working here is you can hop right in line at Yume Wo Katare (https://www.theinfatuation.com/boston/reviews/yume-wo-katare) when it opens." - Joel Ang

There are always two female Asian associates. One is very kind and accomodating pays attention to what the customer actually wants. And there's one that is Rude, doesn't listen and tells a paying customer what they can and cannot order. She will tell you what you can and cannot put on your plate that you're completely paying for full price. The owner of this establishment needs to teach this associate of his some manners. When anyone goes to this establishment one can easily spot and tell between the good associate that any customer would love to interact with and the one that's Rude and very ill mannered. Heads up to the Owner of this establishment. Your food is good but this bad and terrible associate of yours will surely drive customers away. I walked away and went to Tasty BBQ instead.

Tolerable in an emergency but not good Chinese food. Overly sweet sources. Basically sugar with small chunks of meat and rice or noodles.

The lady serving me was actually quite nice, so I feel a little bad rating it only 2 stars. But man, the foods just so mediocre. The bourbon chicken itself was fine, but the fried fish was utterly bland. The fried rice was not salted enough and also too greasy. And overall, everything was just too dry.

Google
The food is overpriced and the portions they serve are some of the smallest I've ever seen served from a Chinese restaurant. Do not waste your time and money here and go elsewhere.

After we had lunch here, I didn't feel well at first. My stomach was rumbling. In the evening, I developed symptoms of food poisoning, which lasted for two days. I would prefer to give it 0 stars.

Google
Save your money! I work within feet of this place. Every time I've grabbed lunch there, it has been terrible. I went back today, after 3 years of not going, and I thought they may have improved. Nope, they're still horrible. Shrimp still had partial peels on them, what should have been "sesame chicken" was really deep fried batter which was covered in glaze, and the fried rice had what felt like pebbles in it. There is NEVER a line at this place for good reason. Never again - lesson learned. Ugh. :/

Good Fast Food Chinese. It's always fresh and you large portions for the amount you pay. Service is friendly, quick, and polite.

The woman working here is really yhe worst person possible, she calls the sécurity about my Child and me just because i take the seat front her truck and she refuses to rince the bibs to my Child because i think she don t like my person very very undelicate person

Yelp
Came here twice in two days. That's how good it was. The bourbon chicken is cubed chicken thigh marinated in this amazing teriyaki sauce. The people working there were friendly, and I thought the prices were reasonable. This is five star mall food. I can't vouch for the other entrées, but I liked that unlike Sakura across the mall this place had flexibility to just order the meat without sides or rice or noodles. I will be back!

Yelp
The food here tastes more like Chinese food but it's good . I just wasn't expecting Chinese food . The staff is friendly , plenty of seating . It's located inside long wood food court . The working is difficult.

Yelp
This is typical food court asian food. For about $13 I got 3 items with noodles. The plate was huge, but the food looked better than it tastes. Its not horrible but its not that good either. Eating just for the sake of eating type of food. I had the general chicken, orange chicken, mushrooms and zuchinni over noodles. Portions were great but I wish the food tasted better and had more texture (kinda just mushy chicken).

Yelp
It is located in a food court so there is plenty of seating. Although it is Cajun, there is a strong Chinese influence. I had two meats which include chicken and broccoli, and beef. I had cole slaw instead of a side of carbohydrates. I was waited on right away. It was ok. If faced with a choice, I would try another option.

Yelp
What I liked most about this place was the variety of choices they had. The food quality is average grade cafeteria food. It's edible but I can't say that it's flavorful. The prices were reasonable. The service was adequate. Thankfully there are many other choices in the food court...

Yelp
Oh my lord I wish I read the reviews before I chose to eat here. This place is located in the Longwood Galleria food court on Longwood ave in Boston, Ma. DO NOT. I REPEAT DO NOT EAT HERE. This place should be shut down. I just spent the past 2 hrs praying to the toilet gods. You should have to sign a waiver to eat here "Eat At Own Risk". This place so far takes the prize for the worst food I have eaten. The Food here is like Dog Food. Bourbon Street Cafe should be the Poster child for "Pepto-Bismol" their ad says it all. If you get my meaning. I have eaten at similar Food spots. The "Cajun Cafe" comes to mind..Cajun Cafe this is not. I have no idea what this place is trying to be. Cajun, Chinese, Japanese, Soul Food. Such a mish-mash of food items on the menu. The Food here is insanely Bad, The Bourbon Chicken very flat in flavor, barely sauced, the Veg. Lo mien was like Spaghetti with soy sauce..Gross.. Pepper Steak was chewy and had a funny twang to it. Finally the Plantains where cold and flavorless. It's all Bad.. The prices are cheap. But who cares if your baby sitting a toilet half the night. Run away from this place. Oh and the staff where kinda rude. and could barely speak English. I should have eaten at Sakura Japan.!

Yelp
During a recent visit to my doctor's office, I was extra hungry due to lab work and fasting. To be honest I didn't not even consult with YELP since I was in a food court area. Not a fan of food court food as its pretty, but my hunger got the best of my judgment. This place was above par for fast Chinese food. The old lady (owner) over the counter was so nice and over eager to give me a taste, which is what made me go with her. She told me about her Covid struggles and how she is on the verge of closing. I would recommend you support this small business. Again if you are looking for a gourmet cuisine then obviously not the place. But it is a quick and satisfying place to eat some quick asian food

Yelp
The food was decent. It's run of mill American-Chinese food. They won't let you add more than 3 sides though which was confusing lol.

Briana G.

Yelp
Pretty good for mall food. It's not like best but it's pretty decent!! However, i don't why it's called cajun food when it's honestly just americanized chinese food

Yelp
Went up to the counter and asked the ... person a question and she couldn't pick her head up to answer me. I proceeded to the next eating establishment. Never will they have the opportunity to spend my hard earned $$$$$$$$

Yelp
This place is interesting - mainly because its almost identical to Dragon Bowl, the Chinese place next door. Instead of fried rice, they call it Cajun Rice, but its pretty much the same. They always have several chicken dishes, a spicy one, a sweet one, and usually a bbq pork dish which I am particularly fond of. The staff is always friendly and willing to offer a sample. Give it a try if you're looking for an alternative to the Dragon Bowl. Located in the Longwood Galleria.

Yelp
This is exactly what you expect of these food court, Styrofoam container places. I have absolutely no idea why they try to have a cajun image - it's just like the "chinese" food place next to it, which tends to be just like the japanese style places. Think - chicken cooked en masse on a grill, plopped into a container. Maybe you'll get some veggies with it. Choose a starch and you're good to go for under 10 bucks with a drink. Sometimes this is exactly what you're looking for.

Yelp
1. It's not Cajun food in any way so if you want it you'd be better of taking the bus to get Louisiana Fast--Fried Chicken near Fenway Park. 2. A lot of it looks good, but looks can be deceiving. I've tried to like it, but oftentimes the chicken or meat in the food is stringy or just plain mushy. 3. The rice and sides in general are better next door at Dragon Bowl, so I'd just recommend going there.

Yelp
My god, I cant believe the other reviews, perhaps my timing was right...but everything of my plate was delicious. Meat tender with crispy layer and sweet sauces. Rice flavorful, green beans with a perfect bite to them...and to top it off, you get a huge filled package if you take the 3 choice combo...im definitely coming back...Easy worth the 3$ extra you pay conpared to the junkfood/mcdonalds next to them!

Yelp
Please see review of the Dragon Bowl which shares it kitchen with this place. The only difference between the 2 is the sauces & the fact you don't get a fortune cookie here.

Yelp
Its not Cajun food....Its GREAT food Passed by this gem from my youth on way back from AM rounds. Excellent stuff. Had the 2 meat combo for $9. The honey chicken was excellent, superb candied caramel crust, perfect crunch and not too sweet, I'm sure its greasy, but the crust hides it well with a hint of almost sherry aroma. The Bourbon chicken was great as well, very well marinated. Reminds me of chinatown roast chicken, with an extra boozy whiskey nose. I had the white rice, came straight from the rice cooker. Inhaled the food once I got home. Probably not the best place to get lunch if you have to go back to work later as you will probably get food coma afterwards. FYI, its not cajun food, the Chinese people serving the food should probably tip you off to that. I think this is a chain of some sort, tried it once in Washington DC back in 1998, and it was also very memorable as well.

Yelp
Decent food at a decent price but it really isn't cajun food...

Yelp
This stuff sits under a heat lamp on the steam table until it is tough and dry. They just keep stirring it so you can't tell. Once you eat it, oh you can tell!!! There's a reason their other location closed. Avoid.

Yelp
The staff is sometime on their cell phone,. the reason why I am complaining now is because they serve overnight food the next day. I work at a near by hospital and decided to try them for another time and it was the same thing. tough left over honey chicken that you cannot not even chew. Despicable!!
