The Best Bakeries in Paris, According to a Local | Condé Nast Traveler

"Known fondly as the "Picasso of pastry," Pierre Hermé excels at almost everything he produces, but there are three key non-negotiables to pick up when visiting this particular location, one of two flagships: the Ispahan croissant, composed of rose, raspberry, and lychee; the Infiniment Vanille shortbread tarte, featuring a combination of vanillas (Mexico, Tahiti, and Madagascar); and rainbow-hued macarons in flavors like Iranian black lemon, Petrossian caviar, pistachio-raspberry, rose, and milk-chocolate passionfruit." - Lindsey Tramuta

The 14 Best Patisseries in Paris for Croissants, Cakes, and Eclairs - Eater

"Long considered the guardian of modern pastry-making, Pierre Hermé needs little introduction. While everything on offer at his Paris boutiques is seductive, there are three key reasons to visit: the Ispahan croissant, composed of rose, raspberry, and lychee; the Infiniment Vanille shortbread tarte, featuring a combination of Mexican, Tahitian, and Madagascar vanillas; and the exquisite macarons, which come in eclectic flavors like smoked tea, saffron, iris, carrot, and violet." - Dayna Evans, Lindsey Tramuta

"The Macaron King: Pierre Hermé The great macaron debate may forever wage on, but from the first time I tucked into a small box of Pierre Hermé's diminutive cookies, perfectly crisp on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth soft on the inside, I knew I'd remain loyal to his interpretation. Perhaps best known for his unique flavors—foie gras and chocolate, lemon and fennel, vanilla and basil, among many others—it's his Ispahan croissant, with rose almond paste and crushed raspberry flakes, that really keeps me going back."

Google
Single macaron € 2.9 I chose praline pistachio and the lovely staff recommended rose flavor one so I tried those two macarons. I usually don’t like desserts with flower scents but rose flavored macaron was so much better than I expected:) It didn’t smell like artificial things. I could see why she told me this one is their most famous one! And pistachio one was another level. If you like pistachio or other kinds of nuts, must try it! + the staff was extremely kind so even if I couldn’t speak French I’ve never gotten in trouble in making an ordering🥹❤️ Thank you so much!

Google
The macaroons were lovely. I recommend the apricot, which is a seasonal flavor and Jardon which is one of their famous flavors. I would give five stars but they closed earlier than the time listed online which was disappointing

Google
Finished my dinner and had a desire for macaroon. Although i was pretty fill up with food, the craving for just one macaroon got the better of me. Google and found this place. Bought chololcate and passion fruit as per recommendation ( i think it is called Mogador), and brought it back to the hotel to savour with some wine. It is good. I will buy again, in larger quantity, if timing permits.

This little shop is a great place to stop by to get the famous macarons of Pierre Herme. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and speaks excellent English. You can get your macarons in a pretty metal box which is a nice memory for a tourist, and I must say they really are delicious. I also liked it how the macarons come with a flyer listing all the variants the Pierre Herme shops have, so that you can easily check which macarons your collection happened to have. Probably you wouldn’t otherwise remember it, so save the flyer! Maybe the price of the macarons is somewhat higher than in an average bakery, but in fact I was surprised how the prices were actually not even nearly as high as expected. The 4-piece package cost between 14 and 15 euros, which is not super much higher than what the average macarons would cost.

Google
Got a 4 pack but only one tasted good 😮‍💨 there’s better macaroons out there…

Google
Exquisite desserts- the hazelnut mille feuille was outstanding. Macaroons are excellent, we had rose and bergamot and caramel butter. It is a must try if you’re in Paris. Beautifully presented as take aways and gifts.

Google
Without a doubt, this was one of the most perfect desserts I've ever had. It was perfectly balanced, and the vanilla flavor was outstanding. I could definitely eat another one. And I'd love to try something else, too! They have croissants, macarons, and there were even some jarred fruit spreads. Yum! This place is so divine. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in!

Google
Very poor service to foreigners. We first came in and picked out a few macarons and chocolate for takeaway and the cashier lady re-confirmed :”That’s it?!” We were not happy but I have decided to try their pistachio panettone on my way out since we have traveled far to come here. The panettone cost $35 and it was so dense and tasted just like an ordinary orange blossom brioche. Apart from their macarons, I don’t recommend anything else.

Yelp
My brother and I stumbled upon this shop and walked in because the lady walking out with a single cookie looked like she was having the time of her life. At her recommendation I got an ispahan macaron, which was a delightful mix of rose, raspberry, and lychee. It was honestly the best macaron I've ever had in my whole life, which I suppose checks out since we're in Paris. The texture of the shells, the flavor of the filling... just perfect. My little brother got ice cream: glace arya (pistachio with orange blossom + pistachio slivers) and ispahan. Might be the best ice cream I've had in all of Europe (and that includes the pounds and pounds of gelato I inhaled in Italy).

Yelp
I dream about these desserts... I was recommended to try the macrons from here. I died and went to heaven when I stepped in the store. They had an incredible variety of macrons and each one was moist and perfect and a delicious flavor. I was in such a rush, but they gave me free chocolate, and treated me so well for being that obnoxious american trying to get macrons and catch their next train. The staff are super friendly (even to English speaking Minnesotans), and the place is immaculate and clean. The display cases make it like you're in a Wonka factory - just gorgeous colors and delicious smells.

Yelp
I got a couple of macarons and an almond raspberry rose lychee croissant - all were super delicious! I'm not a macaron person usually but enjoyed these nonetheless. The almond raspberry rose lychee croissant was the real star of the show. You HAVE to get one while in Paris. What an unbelievable combo of flavors and the pastry was nice and flaky. I bought a jar of the raspberry rose lychee jam, would recommend bringing it home to put on your almond croissants

Yelp
Pierre Hermé is a wonderful pastry shop in the heart of Paris (although I believe there are several locations around the city). The staff were very warm, welcoming us into the shop. They have a variety of desserts to chose from and each dessert is artfully decorated and so beautiful that I did not know what to order. I ended up ordering the macarons, which melted on my mouth. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I'm not a macaroon fan but my friend insisted that we have to try this bcoz he said it's very good. And to my surprise it was better than Laduree that I had tried the day before just because Paris is well known for their macaroons. I tried the lychee one and very impressed with it because lychee is an Asian fruit and has a particular smell and they execute it to the point. It's over priced but it's good
google avatar

Kyli W.

Yelp
They make some lovely macarons. They are slightly pricier than Laduree but not as good. We found them to be too dry and the fillings to not be as flavorful. They are still wonderful just not my favorite.
google avatar

Yelp
This location wasn't too busy when I went in the afternoon and still had ample of macarons to select from. I'm not really a fan of macarons but these guys have changed me. The mogador is phenomenal. It is so complex, the crushy shell to the gooey centre. It starts off chocolatey and then the end notes of the passion fruit just lingers. It is just such an experience in such a small bite. The ispahan was more subtle but enjoyable as well. Ambience of course was just perfectly high end and it wasn't crowded with tourists at all at this location in St Germaine.

Yelp
In comparison to the first Pierre Hermé I went to, this one is slightly smaller, but it still packs a punch. The flavors are downright divine. I had previously made the mistake of buying a nice fancy box for a French family and not having any. Then, well, this was on the way back to our hotel and the curiosity got to me. I bought four flavors and each one was better the next. It made me regret not buying more and now I find myself back in the United States craving these delectable morsels of heaven. Oh well; c'est la vie. I will just have to go back.
google avatar

Francine L.

Yelp
Another well-known bakery store that is famous for its macarons. If you are in France this is one of the best-tasting macarons that you will love and enjoy. I also bought a France tin which is a keepsake for me. I ate the macarons within a few minutes of getting them! They also have other pastry items but were too full to order them. They did look amazing though! Come to this place to try it out and you'll fall in love with desserts.
google avatar

Keila M.

Yelp
This place was recommended by a friend and I'm so happy we went! The macarons were some of the best we had!! So many options too.
google avatar

Johnny N.

Yelp
Yummy macarons plus some additional delicious pastries to boot. Love that there are so many unique flavors. In my opinion, I prefer Pierre Herme macarons more than Laduree macarons. Laduree is a tad sweeter than Pierre Herme. Decided to purchase some more to bring back to the states for family.
google avatar

Matea P.

Yelp
I initially went into another Pierre Herme location for macarons, but then I remembered that Phil Rosenthal visited this location to try the cakes. Man oh man, I'm so happy I came in. I ordered the Tarte Infiniment Vanille, then walked across the street to sit down and give it a try. I'm pretty sure my soul left my body, so I decided to come back again to try the Ispahan Pastry. I just couldn't fathom how flawless these cakes were in its taste.
google avatar

Diane N.

Yelp
I loved their macaroons and would always make a point to buy boxes of them fresh from their patisserie before returning to the states. Usually fresh and the best macaroons, I find this last experience disappointing. First their store hours and locations are not updated. I was struggling to get there before my flight back and they were not open the time they said was opened. The macaroons that I brought back were hard, not moist and gooey like I remembered. Now I will buy Laduree here instead.
google avatar

Olga H.

Yelp
Excellent macarons with VERY unique flavors that are often layered. It is pricey. They offer boxes of 8, 18 (i think), and 24. You can pick and choose what you want. The isaphan is truly is as good as people say it is. I usually find passion fruit to be overpowering, but not here. The boxes are gorgeous for gifting and they also have some other desserts and assorted chocolates, depending on the location you visit. This one is pretty small and is devoted mainly to macarons.
google avatar

Leah S.

Yelp
Best macarons I have ever had in my life. Soft and delicate cookie with yummy flavored fillings. Even my husband, who isn't a fan of macarons, liked these! It is in a great spot outside the Jardin Tuleries. Service was great and offered help in choosing yummy flavors. It's a must add to your list!

Yelp
We stopped by Pierre Hermé three times while in Paris - once just for macrons, once for macrons and tea, and another time for pistachio croissants and tea. All of our visits (each at a different location) were tasty! We tried the pistachio and creme brûlée macron flavors and really enjoyed them, but weren't as big of fans of their signature flavors which were chocolate/passion fruit and rose/raspberry. The rose/raspberry unfortunately tasted a bit soapy as some floral-flavored things do at times. The chai lattes were solid both times we had them and the pistachio croissant was WONDERFUL! I had never had a pistachio croissant before, only almond croissants, and this was similar but even better because it also had chocolate inside - YUM. It was so good that I finished it very quickly and wished I had another.

Yelp
World renowned and utterly delicious, Pierre Herme's kaleidoscope of sweet baked goodies will transform the way you think about how a croissant and macaroon should be enjoyed! Each involved countless hours and days dedicated to creating the perfect culinary creation for the world to enjoy. If you love chocolate..I mean who doesn't?!?, try their hot chocolate. It's literally real thick chocolate sauce (the consistency pours similar to a thicker Maple syrup but all chocolate) and "some milk". It's flavor is pure heaven without what one would expect from a sugar filled drink.

Yelp
I remember walking into a Pierre Herme the first day I got to Paris and thinking to myself "great, a tacky macaron shop - I wonder how many of these I'll be seeing in France" ... I would first like to reprimand my ignorant self from three weeks ago, and apologize to Pierre Herme for ever thinking that it was just "another macaron shop" The prices, I will not lie, are pricey. I spent a little over 5 euros on two macarons. I felt my wallet cry in despair while my heart and stomach jumped with joy. The worker was a very friendly Japanese woman who told me all about their special macarons, as well as their best sellers. I got one of her recommendations, the Isaphan (rose, lychee, raspberry) and the seasonal pu-erh tea flavor. They were both so amazing. The texture was slightly chewy and very soft, and the filling had its own kind of texture which I really loved. The Isaphan was floral and sweet at the same time, and you could taste all three flavors, with none overpowering the other. The other most popular flavor aside from the Isaphan is the Mogador, which is a milk chocolate and passion fruit macaron. They also had another seasonal flavor (which had sold out before I got there) called the Jardin D'Oryza, which was a Japanese sake flavor.
google avatar

Mina G.

Yelp
Pretty good macrons. They try to be more creative than other stores which sometimes work sometimes it doesn't. Pricier than other places for about 2.5 euros per macaroni. Still would recommend to try.
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
Stars are because I love the Pierre Hermé line of macarons and sweets! At the same time I ventured to this particular location to try the isaphan croissant and must say it was just ok and overly sweet. I still love the isaphan flavor but I wish the croissant was a little more fluffy and flaky crunchy Otherwise the drinking chocolate is yummy!!! Love the macarons. Pierre Hermé also has multiple locations for macarons and pastries Bonjour!

Yelp
This is the second year in a row I came here and the quality and the taste of the pastries are amazing. I gained a few pounds because of them:)

Yelp
If you want to find one of the world's best macarons, look no further. Tucked inside a small shop are rows and rows of lovely bites of macarons and other beautiful desserts.

Yelp
The macaroons were simple decadent . I would recommend 100 percent . The flavors were on point .

Yelp
Food: So the macarons lived up to the hype. Pretty damn good. Going to go back if I can.
google avatar

Mansi R.

Yelp
The best macaroons I've ever had! They were so soft even the large macaroons they had. Loved the blended flavors they have along with the souvenir box they come in. Infinitiment Rose: Rose and Rose Petals: light floral taste without being too sweet Mogador: milk chocolate and passion fruit: a lot of the times you can't taste the passion fruit but you could in this. Celeste: passion fruit, rhubarb, and strawberry: nice summer flavor Chocolate: rich and sweet Large Salted Caramel: perfect for sharing on our picnic we had. While Laduree is more famous, I found PH macaroons to taste better and I liked their flavors more.

Yelp
We visited Pierre Herme during our trip to Paris over New Years. I have a massive sweet tooth, but I have NEVER enjoyed macarons. Macarons are my niece's favorite, so we were getting as a gift for her to bring back from Paris. The store is absolutely beautiful, and we couldn't resist getting a sample for ourselves. Very glad we did! Highly recommend getting an assortment.
google avatar

Yelp
Almost any list you read, almost any pastry chef you talk to, you will head of Pierre Herme's desserts. Chef Pierre has been even awarded the World's best pastry chef honor in 2016. So, how does one go into such a "celebrity pastry chef" status with only 29 years in operations? The answer is, unbelievably delicious desserts. The creativity of macaroons is unparalleled. Olive and Vanilla? Why not. Chocolate and Ginger? Sure. Peach and Saffron? Let's do it. They constructed perfectly and have a level of creativity and wonderful flavor combinations that is unparalleled in the industry. The texture is soft, airy and melts in your mouth. The flavor profile transitions from one to another within the 15 seconds after the first bite, it is just unreal. My visit was unfortunately rather brief here and I would love to return to try more. I do wish that there was a place to sit down and have the macaroons with perhaps some tea. If you are a person that craves dessert on a daily basis, has an affection for macaroons or simply wants to start tasting desserts from the very best, a visit here is an absolute must.

Yelp
If you want to find one of the world's best macarons, look no further. This is where it is at. I have never liked macarons and swore them off after tirelessly trying so many places here in major cities in California. Found them overwhelmingly sweet, hard, and weak in flavor and lacking flavor varieties. The ones here are soft and almost melts in your mouth bursting full of flavor with the just the right amount of sweetness. I love the fact that Pierre Hermé eschews traditional flavor and opts to explore new and unique combinations. So the flavors can be a bit out there for some but I love it! They also change with seasons. So check their website for the current ones. While his most famous one is the Isaphan, a blend of raspberry, rose and litchi, the other flavors do not disappoint at all. I adored all the flavors in my box. Talking about this, makes me miss this and sad that no place I have found here can compare. And with this pandemic, it will be awhile before I can fly back but I look forward to the day when I do!
google avatar

Kevin W.

Yelp
Pierre Herme is like the wacky younger brother to Laduree. Laduree has the classical macaron combinations while Pierre Herme has unique combos. They also have pastries and chocolates but I only came to try the macaron. Not as crowded as Laduree was, but you should still expect a line. Arabesque - 2.10 euro - Apricot with crunchy pistachio. Might seem like a werid combo, but it worked and tasted great. The cookie was crispy on top but pillowy underneath.
google avatar

Harry M.

Yelp
This place was awesome! We were told by a friend who's from France that this place has the best macarons in Paris. They were right! So soft and delicious. So much flavor. We ordered a box of 18 to share. I think my fat butt could have finish that box alone, and eat more! Only downside if there was any...it's a little pricier than other places that sell macaron. But the quality is so much better than other places, so it makes up for it.
google avatar

Anna P.

Yelp
I always love Pierre Hermé. What is overlooked are the other desserts. Everyone comes for the best macarons in Paris but I recommend the unique flavors of croissant and pain au chocolat they have. Their signature Ispahan of course, but their seasonal ones too. The marrons glacés poire is delicious! I love their infiniment caramel macarons but not so much the marron & blé noir for which I had high expectations. I found the flavors a bit bland. The infiniement vanilla is very rich and creamy and delicious. Their chocolates are also very good. So are their galettes des rois during the épiphanie (early January) season, although quite expensive. The staff is always lovely.
google avatar

Tommy C.

Yelp
This place is really decorated with the pastries all beautifully displayed. There were just so many macarons to choose from. I chose the orange and hazelnut macrons, and they tasted really amazing. The infinite vanilla taste was just out of this world. The wonderful luscious vanilla flavour paired with the vanilla cremeux and mousse on a buttery tart as the base was just heavenly. Unfortunately, the server messed up some of our orders, and some of us didn't get the correct beverages. In addition, we were given two incorrect macaron flavours. The server mentioned that the wrong ones would be on the house, but he ended up charging it on our bill. I found this type of customer service to be totally unacceptable. I guess next time I would just buy macarons to enjoy instead of dining in the cafe.
google avatar

Tania L.

Yelp
Although Pierre Herme is renowned for their pastries (and particularly their macarons), I found it to be just all right. When compared to the ones from Laduree, Pierre Herme's lacks a certain crisp. They are more cake-like and dense in texture, and it feels as if I'm eating a brownie rather than a macaron. We ordered two flavours - the hazelnut, and the pistachio. The hazelnut flavour tasted exactly like a Ferrero Rocher. It was extremely nutty, and had chunks of hazelnut bits inside. The pistachio paled in comparison to Le Notre, though the taste and flavour was slightly better than Laduree. You could taste more of the nutty flavour, but it still was nowhere as rich when compared to Le Notre. Decent macarons, but I didn't find it worth the hype nor price!
google avatar

Justin L.

Yelp
Just amazing! Everyone has heard of Ladurée, they are renown worldwide. But not everyone has heard about Pierre Hermé, their closest competitor. I tried both, and I do have to say that it's hard to say for certain which store I liked better, because Ladurée makes mostly conventional, classic macaron flavors and Pierre Hermé makes unusual, creative ones. I will say that PH's infiniment chocolat paineiras was my all time favorite, but both macaron makers make delicious treats. This location is pretty small, and quite crowded. I came around ten minutes before closing, and there were still people inside trying to order. They have a variety of chocolates, macarons, cakes, and pastries. The prices are high, definitely higher than many other shops. However, the quality of their baked goods is outstanding, and the chocolate is delicious. If you're planning to bring some macarons or chocolate home, I would recommend buying from here! Ladurée is good as well, but they have so many locations around the world. To me, PH is a little more on the special side.
google avatar

Nga N.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing. It was my favorite dessert place in Paris because they have the best macarons and croissants. I'm sure everything else is just as good as they look. I wanted to go here everyday but I didn't have time. My absolute favorite was the raspberry macaroon with actual raspberry, whipped cream, and lychee. Omg so good you have to get it. You have to visit this place if you're in Paris.
google avatar

Clara Y.

Yelp
MY FAVOURITE MACARONS IN PARIS! PSA please try the rosewater lychee flavour - you will NOT be disappointed. I've tried a few other places during my time in Paris but nothing compares to the flavours at Pierre Hermé. Yes, they're pricey and can add up but its such a good splurge and treat for yourself. I just wish we had these back home!
google avatar

Becca D.

Yelp
OMG these macarons are insanely good. I had heard of Laduree but kept seeing this store during my trip and had to find it. They store isn't that big but there is plenty of room if you want to eat in. A box of 7 is going to run you over $20 but my goodness is it worth it. I got a box for my family the first day and my family and I split them during a lovely afternoon break in a park. The next day I went a second time and got another box but sadly my sister left it under the table at a restaurant never to be enjoyed. For some reason they try to push you to get their "bestsellers" which I found were fruiter flavors like Passion fruit or Rose. I really didn't care for these as much as the classic flavors like vanilla, caramel and chocolate. This place is a must.

Yelp
The Little Red Box!!! My brother and his wife came home from Paris, and I had a little red box waiting for me...macarons??? !!! *Giddy with Delight* At first, I thought it came from Laduree, but no, I saw the brand Pierre Herme, and thought, alright, I'll take that! Pastry Chef Herme is a 4th generation chocolatier, and famously known for his macarons, yass! Instead, it was a box of assorted bonbons.... I was bummed at first, however, after taking a bite of the Chocolat Au Lait (carmelized milk chocolate) bonbon, it was c'est si bon! The milk chocolate itself was creamy and decadent, while the caramel was smooth, luscious and didn't stick to my teeth. I've also tasted the Infiniment Praline Noisette (Hazelnut Praline) - another c'est si bon bonbon, hehe! The rich, dark chocolate tasted divine, and the smoky crunch of the hazelnut praline tasted almost like a yummy toffee-like texture, je t'aime, oui, oui!!! The rest of the chocolate bonbons smelled so rich and indulgent (can't stop smelling it!), but I gotta save those for another time. Each one has their own fillings (see pics for filling descriptions). As instructed on their website: to be savored slowly, in a quiet environment, yes! As I will do, along with a cup of Earl Grey next time, hehe! Afterwards, I texted my brother and thanked him for chocolates. He told me he wasn't able to get me the macarons because they wouldn't last long during his trip (he wasn't sure if they were gonna make it back here on time), and so the employees recommended chocolate bonbons as the next best thing, and they were right! So yes, my brother redeemed himself. Should I ever get to go to Paris, I'm definitely gonna be stopping by here too! Oui, oui, hehee!

Yelp
One of the best macaroons that I tried in Paris. Though few flavors tasted weird, it was in the right texture. Mogador was the best seller but it was not good. Ispahan was recommended and it was really good. Also loved their pistachio macaroon, hot chocolate and croissant. It's an expensive place and if you want to dine-in then it's an extra cost. Take away was cheaper and the place was crowded.
google avatar

Yelp
When you decide to disrupt the macaron ideal, the end result is going to be a turkey burger: perfectly delicious in its own right, but can you really call it a burger? The passion fruit/milk chocolate offering (€2.40 each!) is an enlightened diversion from your classic flavors, while keeping true to the texture curiosity made famous by the cookie. The Mogador, which to my understanding is a signature flavor that initially shook the macaron universe, was the better of the two I tried. The combination of an seemingly incompatible fruit and fat, the passion fruit and milk chocolate was as pleasant a surprise as my first fry dipped in a Frosty. The Montebello, not as much. Pistachio and raspberry do not work together on this palate, and the marriage actually muted out the nuances of two powerful flavors. I felt robbed. Reader, beware: I only sampled the macarons, and I only tried two. The sliver of a shoppe has more treats, running the gamut of bon bons that'll sing the body electric. Definitely worth an adventurer's exploration; the gold goes to the another purveyor.

Yelp
I ate the most delicious thing I have ever eaten in my life--the Isaphan macaron. It was a large raspberry macaron with a rose and lychee filling with fresh lychees and fresh raspberries. I could not believe I was eating something so delicious. The combination of flavors was simply genius. I would go back just for this. I liked the intricate flavors and combinations of macarons. My favorites were chocolate and passion fruit, lychee and rose, dark chocolate, and rose and strawberry. These treats are a luxury for many of us but like my husband said, "you don't get to eat these treats in Utah so just enjoy them", and we did.
google avatar

Diana N.

Yelp
4* just for the isaphan croissant (rose, raspberry, lychee) 2.4€. Macaroons not really worth the price, but the isaphan croissant surprised us both. The sweetness and flakiness of the croissant were so good! Definitely didn't expect to be wowed. Way better bang for your buck.

Yelp
The best macarons I've ever had! I was torn between visiting Lauderee or Pierre Hermes, but since they have a Laudedee in LA, I opted for this place instead. I'm so glad I did! Since France is the home of macaron, it's no surprise that the macarons in the states do not compare. The texture of the shell is the perfect amount of crunchy on the outside, but super fluffy and airy on the inside. If you've ever tried to make macarons yourself, it's not easy to get the perfect shell. What I like about their macarons is that you can get some that have different flavors on each side. My favorite flavors were the mogador which is milk chocolate and passion fruit and the jardin jandalou which is olive oil with mandarin orange and red berries. These little boxes of happiness do cost quite the penny, but its worth every cent! I highly recommend coming here if you are in Paris because their macarons are a must try!

Yelp
I'm a slight macaron snob, just kidding! But I've been eating macarons for 10+ years since I discovered it in high school. I couldn't wait to try Laduree in paris, but when I tried Pierre Herme, I had found my new favorite macaron place. For Pierre Herme, my favorite part was the delicate blend of intricate and different flavors. I like how they had something beyond the generic salted caramel, pistachio, etc. They have a bunch of unique flavors like Isaphan which has rose and lychee (so unique!) and they make it blend together and taste amazing! Another favorite was the Mogador which had chocolate, pineapple and something else (i forget now) but it was also sooooo amazing. A little tart, a little chocolatey, a little sweet, but none were too overpowering. Not only are the flavors super fun and delicious, the macarons themselves were delicious. The outer shell is not as crispy as others, but its still light and airy, which pairs well with the dense and flavorful center. We ended up getting 7 macarons and ate them all in 2 days! Then we came back for more. No shame. Definitely would choose this over Lauderee!

Yelp
The battle of Paris' best macarons consistently puts Pierre Herme right up there with Laduree. Rightfully so, since Pierre Herme used to work for Laduree before he decided to build his own empire. This bakery in the Saint-Germain district is the very first of the Pierre Herme locations scattered in Paris and around the world. This bakery boasts a cleaner, sleeker design compared to Laduree's very elegant, feminine look. I know you'll try your hardest to ignore (just don't) the row of gateux behind the long glass partition, these cakes are simply exquisite: decorated with chocolate shavings, rose petals or fresh fruit like raspberries, they are really too pretty to eat. I spotted a traditional mille feuille with Hazelnut filling but the 8 euro price tag for a skinny slice made me bail towards the macarons instead. Pierre Herme has unique macaron flavors whereas Laduree tends to stick more to the classic ones. I bought a variety for sampling and with flavors like olive oil and vanilla, rose, pistachio (with real chopped nuts in them!), cafe, caramel, chocolate and reglisse and violates, I did NOT have a hard time eating them all in one sitting. * fatty alert! * These delicate, airy macarons are as good as the ones Laduree offer. I also purchased Chocolate covered caramel-ginger pretzels and Fleur de Sel chocolate bar as gifts for friends and I KNOW that they liked their presents! Make sure to visit this patisserie, your Parisian vacation wouldn't be complete without it.

Yelp
1010 (ten ten) review goes to the lovely and scrumptious Pierre Herme macarons! Their macarons are constantly being compared to the classic Laduree! They are both different in a way that Pierre Herme is more on the contemporary side of macaron designs and Laduree exemplifies the classic form of macarons! I like Pierre Herme macarons because of their delightful filling! It is much more flavorful and the shop offers more selections, such as macaron chocolates! I bought a couple of chocolate boxes because it wouldn't be rotten by the time I returned home to San Francisco. A very fine idea! Their packaging style is modern and chic! I can't get enough of Pierre when in Pareeee!

Yelp
A solid 4.5/5 stars. Only deducting 0.5 because I personally prefer Laduree's macaroon over this brand. Much debate of the best macaroons in Paris between these two. Definately worth a try. Packaging makes great gifts to take back.

Yelp
Omg.....these were the best macarons I've ever eaten (and I have eaten a lot)! The flavors were so intense and so amazing; they literally melted in my mouth as I bit into each of them. They have amazing flavors....chestnut, white truffle, crème brulee, chocolate passion fruit, cafe, caramel, chocolate, even foie gras! The first day I bought a box of 12 (around 25 euros) and between my husband and I, we finished them all in one sitting! They are really that good. I was so surprised that my husband ate them as he's not a big fan of macarons (and was secretly hoping I wouldn't have to share). We even tried a couple of patisseries here and they were all so phenomenal...so delicate, so intense in flavor and it really made me hate the fact that they will not be available when I'm back in LA. They can be a bit pricey (around 7-8 euros for a pastry) but seriously are the prettiest desserts I've ever seen that taste just as good as they look. I didn't encounter any lines when I went here but I have seen lines out the door when I've passed the store on other occasions. They were a bit iffy about taking pictures, so be discrete while you are taking them. They let me take plenty of pics of the patisseries but when I asked if I could take pics of the macarons, they said no (weird!) Overall, a must when you are in Paris...amazing macarons and patisseries!

Yelp
I first fell in love with macarons when Laduree came to NYC's UES. I went to Paris a couple weeks ago and was totally blown away by Perre Herme's macarons. I hate to say it, but they are seriously way better then Laduree's =X. The outside of the store looks like some super cute designer shop; e.g. Chanel or Dior, and when you walk in you get the same feeling. It was as if I was in a jewelry store, except the display cases had macarons, croissants, chocolates, and other baked goods. Loved it in there. I purchased a few macarons, a macaron ice cream sandwich, and two containers of macaron ice cream. The macarons, as I said before were incredible; seriously incredible. I tried their larger sized ones as well and they packed the same great flavor in every single bite as the smaller ones, which is harder to do, in my opinion. I had the pistachio ice cream sandwich which was also incredible -- I mean, it literally brought a smile to my face. I bought a large tub of coffee macaron ice cream and small container of the salted caramel macaron ice cream. Both were absolutely delicious and had bits of macaron cookies throughout ... you can only imagine what state of bliss I was in while eating these. I had a box of macarons to eat during the plane ride back to nyc, and now they're all finished. I am seriously craving these macarons, mainly the ice cream due to this nyc summer. My next trip back can't come soon enough ...
