"Point Reyes Station is the kind of hamlet with one main street, a charming bookstore that walked right out of You’ve Got Mail, and big pools of people eating and drinking the weekend away. Bovine Bakery is no sleeper hit — those in West Marin flock to the tiny shop like gulls to the sea — but city-slickers may be unaware. Head here for a sugary morning bun, scallion and cheese croissants, gluten-free and vegan apricot cookies, and far more. Then enjoy the trails around Tomales Bay, soaking it all in as Bovine enters the homestretch toward its 35th anniversary next year." - Paolo Bicchieri

"PERFECT FOR: NOT OYSTERS || If you’re ready for your first religious scone experience, stop at Bovine in the morning. One of their moist, incredible scones could feed three people, but you should order your own. The savory scones, like kalamata olive, green onion, and feta, are where it’s at. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

I stopped by to get a quick latte, and no wonder is always so packed in there! all their pastry selection looks amazing! the latte was delicious, by the way, and they also offer a variety of sizes in case you are not that hungry but need a shot of coffee to energize your day. Love it and would be visiting again 🥰

When I showed up in Point Reyes Station--which is very much worth a visit in its own right, as a town, I saw this enormous line outside Bovine Bakery. Despite that there were a number of other shops already open as well. So I walked around to every other shop, and was curious enough to poke my head in when the line was down. I bought a rosemary ciabatta sandwich--One of the top 3 sandwiches I've had in my life. My only regret is that I couldn't walk off with more baked goods. 20 out of 10. Amazing place. Amazing food. Worth any line. Just wear a good hat.

Google
Giving this average review because it was more or less an average bakery experience. The drip coffee is dark roast, so if that’s your thing no problems there but I like medium full bodied and was a bit disappointed. The savory scone was surprisingly bland. My 2yo would not share her sugar cookie so I’m assuming it was excellent according to her taste 🤣. The berry crumble/cobbler was delicious in terms of taste, though the crumble on top was a little too uniform and underbaked, as were some of the berries inside, so texture wasn’t quite ideal. Fine as a substitute when Brickmaiden bakery next door is closed. Sorry for the terribly messy photo, took the cobbler to go and it got a little smushed.

Double check your bag before you leave! I ordered a peanut butter cookie and a coconut oatmeal cookie. Got home over an hour away and saw two ginger cookies. I even pointed to the damn cookies I wanted. Can’t stand ginger cookies. Wasted money and so pissed! Was really looking forward to the peanut butter cookie and now I have no cookies.

Google
This is a cute little place that gets super busy! Expect a line out the door, but totally worth the wait! Pastries and breakfast options are delicious - we tried a morning bun and it was super yummy! My chai latte was delicious too! A great spot in Point Reyes Station to check out if you're in town.

Google
Bovine was great in the early days, but now it's just ok. The Bear Claws used to be large, fluffy, and most importantly filled completely with a tasty poppyseed paste. Now they are about half to at most 2/3rds the original size, and only a half to a third filled. Still tasty with the filling, but half the Bear Claw is now just meh bready pastry. If you're in town it's still worth a bite, but no longer a wow factor experience.

Google
A fun and lively stop for a quick breakfast or snack. Never disappointing...

Best bakery! Been coming here since I was a kid and still get the morning bun. Highly recommend this local, small business.

Yelp
Amazing, scrumptious, wonderful, delicious, fantastic, out of this world, PERFECTION!!!! Bovine Bakery's Morning Buns are famous for a reason! Oh my gosh!!!! I had to go back 3 times during my visit to get more. In fact, I had a dream about them last night. That's how good the morning buns are! As soon as I wake up, I think about the morning buns. Today, I bought some for family and an extra for myself tomorrow. Did the extra morning bun last until tomorrow? Of course not. I had two today. I also had a large iced mocha with oat milk, which is DIVINE! I had tried two other coffee spots in town and there was so much left to be desired I was disappointed. Turns out Bovine Bakery knows how to bake AND craft espresso drinks!!!!! Skip the other locations and head straight to Bovine Bakery if you want an unforgettable pastry & mocha experience!!!!

Yelp
So looking forward to eating luscious fruit pie- but taste was overwhelmed by cinnamon which always ruins a fresh fruit pie! Reserve that spice for criossanty armando buns, or cinammon twists! - Baker

Yelp
Visited this bakery three times during our weekend stay in Inverness. It is here that I fell in love with the Vegan whole wheat pear scone. We tried several items here and they were all amazing! On my next trip back to that area, I will definitely plan to visit the Bovine Bakery again!

Casidy C.

Yelp
Truly the best morning bun I've ever had!! Pro tip, request to get it warmed up- sooooo fluffy and delicious. The bun is quite large, but it's so good, I don't think you'll wanna share LOL Good mocha too, but the baked goods seem to be the star of the show. Was so tempted to get a slice of pie or pizza.... Line seems to be consistently long throughout the day, menu is inside so you can't quite see it until you get into the building. They're efficient though, we can't have waited more than 20 minutes at most!

Tiffany S.

Yelp
Great pastries and pie! Love their oatmeal raisin and coconut, and berry pie. Chai latte was a miss for me though, not enough flavor and it felt like most of it was milk foam despite ordering a large. Skip on the chai latte next time.

Maisie W.

Yelp
Didn't stop by here last time while I was here so stopped by to try chai latte for an early afternoon caffeine. Got chai latte w/ oat milk. Didn't disappoint or wowed me either way. Seems like one of the only place in town. They do have quite a few pastries including GF options. Had just ate so didn't get any this time. Fast, friendly service.

Em J.

Yelp
Delicious and convenient coffee. Service is fast and friendly. They also have a bakery. The interior is pretty small, so it is convenient that they have a walk up window, and cream and sugar located outside.

Sarah A.

Yelp
Stopped by here as I saw a line out the door while passing through Point Reyes, so figured it must be good. Boy, was I disappointed. The latte I got was subpar and the chocolate chip cookie was extremely disappointing. I can make both these items better myself. The cookie was large but tasted bland. The latte was very strong and I even added vanilla and didn't even taste any vanilla. I did sample a piece of the frittata and that was good, so perhaps that's what people come here for. I'd recommend going somewhere else, don't waste your time standing in a long line here. If the lines short and you really want to try it, sure. Otherwise, I wasn't impressed and wouldn't return.

Sarahbeth M.

Yelp
The place to be in this little cozy town. Baked goods that are also available as gluten free (thought not that many choices, but still). Coffee and teas. Also super busy on the weekends. Fast service.

C C.

Yelp
Always so good. If you are only getting one thing, get a morning bun... but why only get one thing :)

Asal B.

Yelp
We stopped by yesterday on our way to Point Reyes. Such a cute bakery with really nice staff. I got this plum (?) cake and it was amazing! Definitely happy we stopped and will return!

Yelp
Posting this to save someone else from the subpar espresso drinks I had here. We overlooked the following red flags: 1) The guy in line in front of us had his kids save their spot in line while he went around the corner to Brickmaiden Breads for coffee. His family only ordered pastries at Bovine Bakery. 2) We saw a woman appear to complain about her espresso drink, which prompted the employee running the espresso machine to lean out of the to-go window and pour additional regular milk into the woman's coffee cup. 3) They offer oat and almond milk, but the espresso employee only seemed to be making drinks with regular milk. (I do not recall seeing any oat or almond milk on the espresso machine counter, although there was constantly a jug of whole milk out or in use.) I ordered a latte with oat milk, which was watered down and I didn't taste any oat milk. My boyfriend ordered a chai latte, which just tasted like chai tea -- I tried it and could not taste any espresso in it. By then, we had no faith in the espresso employee's ability to make a good cup of coffee, so we just took the L and hit the road. We also ordered a morning bun, which was actually really good. However, I have a nut allergy, and when I asked the employees if there were any nuts in their morning buns, they said, "Um...I don't think so." I luckily don't have a serious allergy, so this wasn't a huge deal, but it wasn't reassuring. You've gotta have someone in the bakery who knows what's in the baked goods...

Yelp
The options for bakeries near Pt. Reyes are pretty limited and that's understandable considering it's a small coastal town. I read several reviews raving about Bovine and decided to give it a try. I saw a line out the door when I got there and took it as a good sign... After finally getting into the bakery, I was a bit let down by their lack of variety (there was also a fly in the display case). The selection was not incredibly exciting and to be honest, the pastries just didn't look very fresh despite it only being 12pm on a weekend. As expected, the banana bread I got was pretty stale and I would say it was mediocre at best. I took maybe two bites, called it quits and then opted to try the buffalo milk soft serve across the street at palace market, which did not disappoint. People continued coming in and out of Bovine so I'm not sure if maybe I chose the wrong thing to order or if this is just the best it gets here. I'd probably get a scone or pizza slice here next time. Those items seemed to be a bit more popular.

Yelp
A small cute little shop in downtown Point Reyes. I stopped by for a quick snack and found this little shop in downtown. Walk in and decided to get sth savory so I got their savory bites - feel like a quiche with eggs, potatoes, ham, bacon, onions. The service was very nice and asked if I would like to warm it up, waiting for 10m for a warm hot bites but then disappointed that it came out still cold inside which made me think it's was frozen or store in the fridge - not fresh. My friend got a piece of pizza and he said that the pizza was hard that he could even use it to kill the flies lol 1 STAR for friendly service and 1 STAR to encourage as it seems to be the only bakery in the area Notes: order inside and pickup at the window.

Sophia N.

Yelp
Rating is 3.5. Line was out the door. We ordered the scone with meat, chocolate chip cookie, and the quiche with meat. Quiche was great! They do heat it up for you but it took awhile to get it. My partner liked the chocolate chip cookie. I would not recommend the scone with eat. I came with a group of friends and we had all ordered this. It was extremely dry and lacking in flavor.

Dexter D.

Yelp
We saw the line. We had to try. Service was great. As items sold out, they were removed from the signboard so you didn't know what you missed. Man playing his guitar and singing with his dog going to each customer to see what might be offered. Cool vibes. The scone was delicious. Not dried out like so many that we've had before. Green light, GO!

Cindy C.

Yelp
We passed by this bakery during a late lunch hour so I was seeking savory items. Unfortunately, the savory scone was sold out so I didn't get to try that. Instead, I opted for the frittata with meat and the roast beef sandwich. The frittata was unfortunately too salty for me. I likely will not return for that. However, the roast beef sandwich was very delicious. I was surprised since in the shop, the sandwich looked a bit plain. It seemed like it had a nice amount of roast beef and some veggie but no sauce. But once I took a bite, I realized I was wrong about the no sauce. There was a sauce that included nice amount of caramelized onions that was distributed evenly as one of the layers. It was a nice sweet and savory jam that paired incredibly well with the sandwich. I had split the sandwich with a friend but after finishing my half, I really wished I bought a whole sandwich instead of the frittata. My friend also agreed this was an incredibly done sandwich too. He went back for a savory galette and I got to try a bit of that too. It was also quite tasty with the nicely done caramelized onions. In the future, I'd like to return to this bakery, most likely to get another sandwich and try a full galette.

Yelp
Definetly worth a a stop to pickup some pastries before a hike Fast friendly service with a great selection of baked good at a affordable price ! The morning warm was my favorite ! The americano was also enjoyed

Jack N.

Yelp
I am so unhappy to report the recent demise of the food at Bovine bakery. I had a slice of pizza that was awful, resembling an old slice of Papa John's on wonder bread. The morning bun wasn't quite as bad, but nothing like it used to be. I wonder if the bakery has changed hands or management and maybe I'll give it one more try as I live to visit Point Reyes Station. But I won't be ordered pizza for sure!

Jonathan S.

Yelp
I've been visiting Pt Reyes Station for just 3 years now. I usually frequent both The Bovine Bakery and Toby's Coffee Bar a couple times each trip. Bovine Bakery has a few items for under $5. I got a piece of cake for $4, and a peppermint bar for $3.50 (a layer of peppermint-flavored crème with a chocolate-flavored crust and topping - delicious). I think Bovine Bakery has a greater selection than they had in the past, and their prices have the competitive edge over Toby's (I didn't see anything under $5 on my visit) The service at both is friendly. Bovine Bakery accepts credit cards, while Toby's is cash only. I prefer the ambiance at Bovine Bakery because of the store itself available seating nearby.

Nick C.

Yelp
It's a cute bakery! There's a large variety of interesting items, and it caters well to all sorts of dietary preferences. Unfortunately, the oat bran, date, and almond sugar-free muffin that I ate was very dry. The flavour was good, but it very much needed more moisture.

Norma P.

Yelp
Amazing pastries! Super friendly staff! Walked in and we were warming greeted. 9/26/23 12:30pm. Orders a couple of day old pastries. I had a pastry with pear and raspberry. It was light and not overly sweet. Nice bits of pear. It was so good I went back 30 minutes later and purchased another one. I can't imagine it being much better fresh. The day old chocolate croissant was good but pear/raspberry was the winner!! Ate it so fast no pics.

Ms J.

Yelp
I thought it would be great based on all the great reviews. Chocolate croissant was just okay. Blueberry scone looked amazing but was dry tasted like soda bread.

Mike V.

Yelp
Somehow after all these years i haven't reviewed. Probably the lack of reception in town. So just the tips: 1. Arrive early on weekends. 2. Breakfast pizza is a must. 3. Any scone during pear season should/will sell out. 4. Coffee may be limited so grab coffee at Tobys (usually open at 630a) before lining up at Bovine. Especially in the winter, or the fall, or the spring, or the "summer". LBH, It's Pt Reyes.

Frank M.

Yelp
In April 2024, I decided to give this place a try again. As for the food quality, the vegan scone I ordered was probably the best scone I have ever eaten. Not sure if that was a 1-time exception... let's see what happens the next time I visit. The coffee was also properly made this time. And I didn't see anyone touch either of my pastries with their dirty hands... a big improvement from how this bakery operated in 2023. In May 2024, I visited a second time for 2024. The vegan scone was good, but not as great as in April. I know that they constantly change what type of vegan scones they make, and so that was expected. However, I drink my coffee black with nothing added, and unfortunately the coffee did not taste right. Not sure why it is so difficult to consistently create a cup of black coffee. From now on, I'll get my coffee from Toby's Coffee Bar and I'll give Bovine Bakery's vegan scones additional tries provided they are consistently good or great.

Jennifer T.

Yelp
My group stopped here for coffee and baked snacks after hiking. It didn't disappoint! They have a big selection of freshly baked cupcakes, morning buns, savory scones, and other things in a glass case as well as various pizzas. We went around 2p and many things had sold out so just like any other bakery, I'd recommend getting here early for the best selection. In addition to a morning bun,I got an in order black coffee. Both were delicious and a perfect reward for hiking. The morning bun is a must get if you're a fan of cinnamon rolls. The layers were flaky and sugar crusted crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Eat it asap, don't save for the next day like I tried to. Service was great and parking is street but not an issue on a weekday when we went. This is a grab and go type place. I'll definitely be back.

Roni S.

Yelp
Delicious scone, fruit pie, and morning bun. There's a line but it's pretty fast, great service. Worth visiting for sure.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Stopped by after a night of camping at Point Reyes. We had a great savory scone and a decent nectarine fruit slipper, although the coffee wasn't anything to write home about. This place is perfect for a quick pit stop but there is nowhere to sit inside, so we just got our food and ate it standing around outside. I would stop by again if I were in the area (given the limited options), but I won't be missing it while I'm gone.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
10 years ago or so I stumbled upon Bovine Bakery while heading to Point Reyes on a date. I had a sour cream and blueberry scone and a chocolate croissant. The fact that I can recall what I ate there speaks volumes for how good it was. I decided to head back to the Point Reyes area this last weekend and of course Bovine Bakery was on the top of the to-do list. When I pulled up there was a line out the door and the smell of the baked goods was a good sign that they were just as good as I remembered. I got there a little late so sadly they were sold out of the blueberry scones, however I was able to nab a chocolate croissant, as well as a few cookies and a chocolate strawberry scone. It all was amazing! The croissants were soft and amazing. The scone was unique.. but in a great way! The chocolate chip cookies were some of the best I've had too. The peanut butter cookie wasn't my favorite because it was a bit dry, but it wasn't terrible by any means. If you are in the Point Reyes area, definitely stop by and check them out!

Anne G.

Yelp
We had pizza and the crust was really hard and the flavor pretty bland. I was expecting more. The chocolate chip cookie was so so.

Elyse C.

Yelp
GET THE MORNING BUN. THAT IS ALL. THATS THE POST. ($3.75) worker was really nice. Basically immediately got my order. Parking was a bit crowded for a Friday.

Chaco M.

Yelp
What happened? 30 years of quality and what happened to the smiles with service?? Quality good but still looking for what the Bovine has been known for... smiles.

Allyson U.

Yelp
We were passing through town and saw this bakery. With the small gathering of folks, we were intrigued. The menu looked awesome so we joined the line. About 10 min later we walked up to the cashier and ordered a #2 'za, almond croissant, chocolate dipper coconut macaroon, savory scone, and a coffee. Everyone enjoyed everything they ate and I cannot wait to go back to try more. If I had to say anything the almond croissant was maybe my least favorite--granted, I still ate the whole thing. The bread wasn't as flakey and more reminiscent of a non-laminated dough. There were also not too many almonds on-top; however, the filling had a fair amount from ground to chopped. The filling was a bit grittier than I like, but I could definitely tell they made it in-house, which is special. Compared to other bakeries in the Bay Area, this one is reasonably priced and the quality was excellent. The storefront is very cute and appreciate the cow theme. I look forward to visiting again on my next day trip to Pt. Reyes!

Linda P.

Yelp
After a nice hike at nearby Bear Valley, the roast vegetable pizza from Bovine Bakery was amazing. The crust is soft, with a slightly crunchy golden exterior, vegetables & onions are nicely caramelized & there was a bit of goat cheese throughout. This was a real treat & approx $5...can you do better than that???

Old Man W.

Yelp
Fast service, great selection, delicious. Also offers beverages and breakfast treats.

Martin M.

Yelp
Worked in Point Reyes for months a couple years back and food was always good and staff always sent me on my way with a smile. Don't know if it's new management or ownership but three times back now and the girl working the counter is so very rude. First two times they were busy so I thought that was the reason but there was no other customers this time. Rude as can be. Don't understand it. I'm not sure if I can go back. Kind of messed up my morning. But food and coffee are still good.

Dre V.

Yelp
I walked in wanting something filling but also not on the sweet side and fell in love with their savory scone. It was light and cheddary. It had mushrooms, green onions, and tomatoes with plenty cheddar cheese.

Alexander C.

Yelp
Very large, fresh muffin and not too sweet which was really nice. Iced latte was decent. A little watered down but overall pretty good. Stop by for a quick pick me up when you're in the area!

Kathleen J.

Yelp
The best morning bun I've ever had anywhere. Like a combination of cinnamon roll/sticky bun with the perfect caramelized bottom. The pastry itself is fresh, soft and buttery.

Nola C.

Yelp
Soo glad this was the only place open on a Sunday here at the Point Reyes station. Here's what we got and loved every bite: Ham & Cheese(white) Croissant- DIVINE!! Veggie & Goat Cheese Croissant- very good! Chocolate Croissant- delish! Butternut Squash Soup- delish! The only thing we are sorry about is that we've drove through this town a dozen times and never stopped. We won't make that mistake again! DON'T FORGET YOUR MASK IT'S REQUIRED

Julie B.

Yelp
Their pastries are great! the coffee is basic and the service could use a bit more speed, but overall I keep going back because the food is tasty for the price. It's a casual hole in the wall place, no sitting, but usually people get the stuff to go. Watch the birds trying to rip off the goods :p

Katie G.

Yelp
Really disappointed with this bakery; Of the 4 items tried, one was worth finishing. I opted to eat a Clif Bar I had with me and tossed my brownie in the garbage.

Elvie S.

Yelp
Best Breakfast Bun I have ever tasted! Quaint little bakery. I am hooked will definitely visit again! 5 Stars

Isabel P.

Yelp
Went to Point Reyes for a 4-day trip and found myself at Bovine Bakery every morning. All of their pastries are great, but the scones are the best I've had in my life. If you're in the area you must stop by and get the sweet scone of the day. The coffee is pretty good as well.

Lynne M.

Yelp
Back again, Covid measures taken seriously with cute cow spot of social distancing of the line. They are serving out of walk up windows for everyone's safety. Got our usual 2 peanut butter cookies, 1 chocolate chip, a new one the gluten free chocolate cherry almond cookie, and coffee. Everything was so good. The chocolate cherry almond GF cookie was a stand out. The cherries sweet, tart chewy yet soft. The almonds toasted really being out their flavor and everything double wrapped up n chocolate. Chocolate cookie dough and chocolate chips. So decadent I ate it over a 2 hour car trip. WHAT A TREAT!!

Z S.

Yelp
Enjoyed an Americano with a delicious Morning bun which was a glorified version of a cinnamon roll. There really is no ambiance and the service was ok.

Odin B.

Yelp
This place is great. Very wholesome. I absolutely love the chocolate chip cookies. Delicious pizza slices. I swear some of the things these people complain about on here they are so entitled! They expect the world to fall before their feet in deference.

Alicia C.

Yelp
When I took my partner to Point Reyes, I knew I had to stop here so he could try all the delicious goods! We grabbed two croissants, one plain and one chocolate, and a cherry chocolate cookie for the road. Wow. I have never had a croissant from Bovine, however it was the best one I have ever had. Buttery, warm, perfectly flaky. I would have gotten another one had this one not filled me up. I always knew this place was great, but wow I want to drive back just for a croissant! We also loved the covid precautions! Thank you for being safe.

Sammy Ruth K.

Yelp
I can't believe I only read one review that raved about the bear claws. These are the BEST BEAR CLAWS I have ever tasted since I was a kid (about 65 years ago). Whenever we come to Point Reyes, we make a special stop to enjoy these extraordinary, tasty, rare treats. And I appreciate the fact that they use organic and local ingredients to make their lovely pastries. VERY highly recommended!!!
