Descendants of the Johnny Harris legacy pour that heritage into a noted batterless fried chicken alongside smoked meats. Covered by local press, it’s a smart pick when you want Savannah history on the plate with a modern edge.

Best Ribs I have ever had! Good service too! Our experience: I was craving ribs and this was nearby so my wife and I decided to try it out for our wedding anniversary. We are not local and wanted to try somewhere new anyway. Once our food arrived and I saw the ribs, it looks good but just like any other ribs from a barbecue place if you know what I mean. Not thinking much of it, I picked up the rib but it fell out of my hands because of how, "fall off the bone," it was! I then took the first bite and was blow away by the flavor blast. The Mac and cheese was spectacular and more unique than most. Everything was amazing, highly recommend! The staff in particular (at least on this particular day), we're really kind and awesome.

Google
I ordered the 3 peice ribs (wet) mac n cheese, baked beans and Texas toast. Everything was great but the mac and cheese noodles were a bit soggy and it's hard to say if I liked the brown sugar/cinnamon they added on top of it but it's was definitely different. The wait time for my food took longer than expected even during a slow time. Overall I enjoyed it and look forward to trying the rest of the menu.

Google
This was once a great place to eat. I hope the owners improve the food & service. My husbands shrimp and grits were literally the texture of water, the food seemed old and nothing was hot everything was served to my family luke warm. It was Easter Sunday every place had a wait but only 4 families was in the entire place. This is such a great location especially the outdoor space I hope they improve.

Google
Incredibly friendly staff and quick service. Our waitress was very attentive and sweet. The food however left a lot to be desired. Mainly the sauces were very disappointing. The ketchup and BBQ sauce must be made in house but they all had the flavor of acidic tomato paste. I couldn't tell you how the meat actually was because everything had sauce on it. I'd be willing to try it again without any of the sauces. Smoked BBQ rarely needs sauce anyway. Whomever is the saucier needs to really taste the recipes and rework them because they were not good.

Stopped by while in town. Completely empty at 12:30 on a Friday afternoon. That should have been a clue. Can’t recommend the bbq. Pork sandwich had no flavor and no smoke. The amount of pork covered half the bun. The Brunswick stew was very sweet, too sweet for my taste. Maybe their burgers and wings are ok but I definitely wouldn’t go here for que. Restaurant was clean and servers were friendly.

Google
The food was good. My brisket was a bit dry. I think they might be cutting the brisket without letting it rest because the waitress allowed us to taste a piece prior to ordering because my father has a problem when it is too smokey and the brisket was juicy and delicious. However, when my brisket arrived at the table, it had no juice in it at all. So I believe they may need to rest the meat longer. Other than that the food was very good.

Google
Had a wonderful lunch with family. We sat outside. I had the BT classic amazing Flavor. I'm not one who likes smoked meat but this had a hint of smoked flavor that was not overpowering. Daughter had the chicken strips. The batter on the chicken was so light I could just eat a bowl of the batter. The fries were perfectly seasoned. Highly recommend.

Greg Stewart

Google
This place was amazing. The beef brisket was so tender, it practically melted in my mouth. While the sauce was good, I honestly didn’t need it with the brisket because of the flavor of the meat. The slaw was also fresh and well done. The service was friendly, helpful with dietary restrictions and quick. The other patrons were local and personable.

Yelp
Brisket so tender it practically wrote me a love letter. And the ribs? Absolute smokey perfection. Whoever is running that smoker deserves a medal. You can smell that beautiful smokey bbq as soon as you arrive. Service was top-tier, friendly, fast and made us feel right at home. Already dreaming about another round (and maybe a nap after).

Lindy C.

Yelp
We brought family from out of town to BowTie. The food did not disappoint! The brisket was amazing, grilled shrimp, fantastic. Oh, and the brisket nachos were so good! All of their salads are delicious. Lexy was our server and was so attentive, kept our drinks refilled and constantly checked on us. I recommend you ask for Lexy any time you go to BowTie! Always great food and a great experience.

Lexy D.

Yelp
The food is great! Everything you order always comes out super fresh and fast! I recommend the brisket and blueberry martinis!!

Yelp
Still a 10! I did a To-Go order. I ordered three different meals with similiar side options. Not once did they mess up my order. Y'all know to-go orders can be a hit or a miss. It was perfect! I had no idea they had a bar tucked away in the back where they have very reasonable drink prices and lots of selection. They have roll up doors that opens the patio area which is ideal for those cooler nights to watch a game or play a game because they offer trivia on Thursday nights. Football, bbq, whiskey, beer, or wine is right on time at BowTie. And sure, you can stroll up there in a pair of jeans and a tshirt. The bowtie is optional! I highly recommend BowTie Barbecue. They are local and they are awesome! A piece of Savannah is bowtied in the food.

Yelp
Went to lunch at Bow Tie with friends, and it was so fun! I ordered Smoked Brisket, we all shared fried Pickles for appetizer. Brisket was truly one of the finest I have ever tasted! Tender and beautiful smoke one the Edge. Our server, C.C. , she was so fun and knowledgeable!! Definitely great Lunch spot in Savannah!
google avatar

Jakob G.

Yelp
I have given this place so many chances. I want to like this place because I enjoy the trivia on Thursday night. However, this may be one of the worst restaurants in Savannah. Myself and friends have tried multiple dishes, all being lackluster. To charge the prices they charge, you would expect amazing food. The bbq is not even on par with dickies. Along with that, the service is not great unless you get Lexy. She is great. I wish this place was better, but it is just not good.
google avatar

Annie D.

Yelp
The chicken "sandwich" for $17 is a small handful of dry, unseasoned white chicken thrown across a plain bun with 3 small pickles. No sauce, no condiments, no nothing. If you want any flavor, you have to add raw sauce to the cooked chicken yourself. "The fries are so salty, I don't need ketchup!" -a child.

Christian M.

Yelp
Paige was excellent! Food was great, service was phenomenal. Great experience. The brisket was amazing. Ill be back!

Kristina P.

Yelp
Our experience started off with the host opening the door for us and getting us seated promptly. Our server, Eric, was great! Informative, patient and on top of everything! I would definitely recommend the pimento cheese appetizer, freaking delicious.

James N.

Yelp
Food was bland collard greens beans ribs. Side orders seems microwave. None of the food season right for me. For a big restaurant on a friday it was slow. Just not my style. This is good for others probably.

Nicole S.

Yelp
Staff was very knowledgeable. Dedicated gluten free fryer for French fries and chicken. All meats and sauces are gluten free. Gluten free buns available as well.

B W.

Yelp
Food is really good, beer list is great, whiskey/ bourbon list is amazing. Service has always been good in my 4-5 visits. The rooms are pretty well broken-up to give some nooks for tables, lots of booths for some privacy.

Kionna J.

Yelp
Great place to eat! Food was awesom! Our Server Eric was fantastic and the Host had great customer service! Great homey environment. Will definitely be back for sure

Jeffrey E.

Yelp
My husband and I are from Baxkley, GA. Our server was Jill. She was so kind and nice. I absolutely loved your food! I am a South Georgia person and I know BBQ, and yours was awesome! I am going to book a catering with you all in April! We will be back (to see Jill!!

Yelp
About a month ago, I gave BOW TIE only 1 Star as a result of the rude, inexperienced employee "working" that night. However...... I HAVE AN UPDATE: I went back this past Wednesday night only because my friend insisted I go with her to a music event. ..... and let me tell you.....what a huge difference one employee can make on one's experience!! This visit It was pretty busy and Rayanna was my server/bartender. She was the ONLY one waiting on the entire patio of 10-12 tables as well as a full bar! She was the definition of professional, friendly, and efficient!! I travel to Savannah once or twice a month for business and I sure hope to return soon to enjoy good music paired with Rayannas perfect Margaritas and winning service! (FYI: Cici is the person that waited on me my first visit. After to speaking to several people who frequently go to Bow tie, I've learned that she is known to be rather rude and unwelcoming as a regular occurrence. ****Maybe management should have her shadow Rayanna a few days to learn how it's supposed to be done?!? Idk - just a thought! Here is my take away: Avoid Monday and Tuesdays all together. For the best experience, go only on Wednesdays thru Sundays!!?!? Rayanna , Thank you for a great experience. My night was filled with good music, perfectly made cocktails, and phenomenal service!! Jenn

Susan S.

Yelp
Food was terrible except for the collard greens. No ambience, too smoky smell; not enjoyable at all. Service was good however!
google avatar

Yelp
Had a bowl of Brunswick stew 2 nites ago. All the vegetables were crunchy, not cooked. Potatoes, Lima beans, corn and onions. Big disappointment!! Boy have things changed since the days of Jonny Harris. Truly pathetic. But on a positive note, we discovered Wiley's. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
Visiting Savannah for a race. This was where packet pickup was located. I had The Butterfly pork sandwich. The pork was lacking a smoky flavor but the sauce was good. Slaw and house pickles were very good. The service was good but a bit slow considering there were so few customers. We sat out back on the covered patio which was nice. Loved the tall fence around it so you were not looking at the parking lot. Overall a nice lunch.

Yelp
I am adjusting my review from 2 stars to 4. I haven't been able to come back to the area to revisit this restaurant. While I felt at the tome that 2 stars was justified, looking at the recent pictures of their food, it seems like they are getting it right. Also, the fact that the restaurant manager reached and offered to comp a meal to give them another try means a lot to me. Tells me that this business cares about their quality. Even though i never took them up on their offer, it feels like it's the roght thing to do to revise my review. Hope to be back soon

S. A. J.

Yelp
Tastes just ok... side item portions way too skimpy for what they charge. Rice was crunchy Greens nothing but stems Zucchini unflavored Cornbread... BOMB! It really saved the day!

vivien p.

Yelp
Really delicious barbecue and we had fab service from Cecilia. Brought our dog and sat in the patio area: lots of fans! A great lunch! Thank you BowTie barbecue
google avatar

Taylor T.

Yelp
Pros: the fries are good, the sauce is good, the service is good. Cons: half the plate they sold me was just fat. Feels like a total rip off and very poor business model. It was super expensive, too.
google avatar

Jailyn G.

Yelp
The service was excellent Jill was awesome the food was very bland the nachos were okay they were a little cold the Jack Frost cocktail was delicious the brisket had to much fat and not enough meat but over all would I try it again no
google avatar

Raye C.

Yelp
The food was excellent but I almost froze to death. At least I was getting a cold dish like salad.n

Yelp
This review is based on an experience solely with the food truck. Bowtie BBQ's food truck (BB) was present for a market organized by Anderson Mercantile in Richmond Hill on Mother's Day weekend. I've heard so much about BB so I was excited to check it out! - TLC - It was a one man show and the guy was super courteous and easy going. Since he was alone, it was a bit of a wait as he was taking orders, cashing out customers and preparing the food one by one. He did great! - Noms - A few items on their menu caught my eye. I was happy to see ribs and pooooooutiiiiine! Being Canadian (also) and having grown up in the province of Québec where poutine was created, I am always curious to see how poutine is interpreted in other areas, now that the rest of the world has caught on to this delicious dish! Unfortunately for me, my friend ordered before me and got the last batch of ribs! Noooooooooooooooo....it's ok though. Good thing I love her LOL. I ended up ordering the Smoked Wings and Poutine (without ranch/blue cheese). Wings - FYI, these are whole wings, tips and all! Perfectly smoked and these were good size wings! There were 4-5 in the order so that's about 8-10 if you compare how other places count their wings (drum and flat). Poutine - BB's version of a poutine is fries, BBQ pork, choice of ranch or blue cheese (I opted out of this entirely) and their BBQ drizzle. They've alllllmost got a winner here! How can they leave out the most important part of the poutine which is the cheese?! The major components of a poutine are fries, sauce and cheese (actually cheese curds)! Add the cheese, any cheese and it would be complete! It ain't easy being cheesy, but it's gotta be done! Besides that though, I LOVED the big chunky fries which were fried to order and the BBQ pork was flavorful and plentiful and the BBQ drizzle was great! I took this to go and drove about 15 minutes back home and everything held up well. The parts of the fries not topped with sauce and pork were still pretty crispy , considering it was continuing to steam in the styrofoam to-go box. Overall, a good experience with great service and generous portions, but just cheese please! Stay safe, Friends!

Delaney L.

Yelp
Food and service was amazing!!! Definitely recommend the pork, ribs, and the Mac and cheese!!!

Yelp
Excellent attentive service, the whole way thru the meal. This is my second time here, and both times things have been great. The burgers were juicy, great quality meat. Clean facility and portions are large. We all had food to take back home.
google avatar

Mack F.

Yelp
I come here occasionally and it's always a nice time. The BBQ is very nice. They got rid of the Hickory sauce, but they still have their signature original which is good, and their Roasty one that is coffee-infused. That is my favorite! The meat is cooked to perfection! I always get extra to take home! The service is typical and the ambiance is what you would expect. I think the focus is on the food, which A-ok in my book!
google avatar

Amber C.

Yelp
BowTie Barbecue is a great lunch spot! Their barbecue is great, but I go for their salads which are so good! The BT salad is definitely my favorite!

Sue C.

Yelp
Good is very good & always hot! I've tried several dishes and they are all very good try the banana pudding for sure
google avatar

Kate S.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is great. The naked fried chicken is incredible. The salads are fresh and delicious. I haven't had a bad meal here.

Marc W.

Yelp
I sat with Cece tonight at the bar for the first time in a while, and I remember why I love coming here. Cece is personable, funny and makes the experience a great one. Can't wait to return next week.

Yelp
Very southern aesthetics. You have option for outdoor seating, at the bar or booth inside. Our server came right away and offered us beverages. It was a Thursday evening, not too busy. We ordered pork shoulder with coleslaw, onion rings and habanero bbq sauce and Burger town burger with fries. The BBQ sauce was amazing. Not too spicy. Just enough for the kick. The burger was alright but fries was amazing. Service was quick about 10 min or less. Would visit again!
google avatar

Yelp
Went there for lunch and had the beef rib. Overall everything was good. Good service and great tasting food. I would recommend this place. Only BBQ place that offers BEEF ribs.

Yelp
This place was interesting. A nice mix of ambiance, great service and BBQ. Inside was nice and clean, full of character down to the tin ceiling look. Service is outstanding. Greeted promptly, seated and a super nice gal took my drink and food order. Where did we lose some stars? This was a tough one, as I can understand differentiating yourself from the all the other BBQ places. From what I can tell, the sauces and ketchup are not your standard commercial stuff. The ketchup was tangy and I believe was vinegar/tomato based which was excellent if you venture away from the traditional Heinz. The biggest ding was the sauce. Not sure what the direction was. It wasn't tangy, spicy, sweet or ??? Just very tomato paste tasting. I initially didn't like it from the first bite but decided to keep going, perhaps it will grow on me. By the time I was halfway through my 2nd rib I was dreading licking my fingers of the sauce. In all the years of frequenting Rib and BBQ cook offs, I have never not wanted to lick the sauce off my fingers. Yes, I am an uncultured swine but saves me napkins. Saving grace was the service, who was observant enough to notice that I didn't finish a 3 rib platter. They did bring me some dry ribs to try, which was much better but still lacked depth, flavor and "direction" if ya know what I mean. 5/10 may be back to try the brisket, pulled pork or chicken. Note: not a chef, influencer, critic or any of that other nonsense - just a fat guy that likes BBQ.

Karen B.

Yelp
Bowtie is fine. Nothing special. Food kinda bland. Service friendly & nice, but nothing outstanding. Cute inside for what it is. There is just nothing to make you want to come back, considering all the great places in town. There's nothing to really complain about, but certainly nothing to rave about either.
google avatar

Bess B.

Yelp
Wonderful lunch spot with friendly service, many options and great portion sizes! We loved the salad options especially. Highly recommend!

Teresa M.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch. Our server was pleasant, answered questions and even offered us drinks to go but didn't ask if we wanted dessert afterwards (she did ask the family next to us though). Ordered the Judge Doom's Dip with fries, which had more horseradish cream than prime rib. The cream had a great flavor but overpowered what little meat was on it. Fries were the best part. Also had the Gates of Modor, with coleslaw. The chicken was moist and had some flavor, didn't taste the onion ring at all. The coleslaw was average as were the portions for the price.

Olivia H.

Yelp
this place is amazing! my family & I go to a lot of bbq restaurants, but this one has absolutely taken the cake! the brisket melts in your mouth, the margaritas are perfect, and the loaded fries (even smothered in sauce) are still crisp. we loved it enough to come up here twice in 2 days. if you're on the fence, take my words for it. 10/10 P.s.- only our second visit and our server had memorized our order
google avatar

Azsha H.

Yelp
Disgusting and a disgrace! Came in on my lunch break and sat with a coworker we ordered the SAME appetizer, and my co worker ordered a sandwich as well. Less than 10 minutes and the waiter brings out one of the appetizer orders, hands it directly to my coworker. 20 minutes after my coworker has completed his meal, my order comes out along with my co workers sandwich. Terrible customer service and I decided to just leave. The place had less than 6 patrons and wasn't busy at all. I'll never come to this place ever again. If I could have given it zero stars I would have.
google avatar

Anastasia W.

Yelp
Such a great restaurant!!! The atmosphere was so great! You can definitely tell it was designed wry well ! The food was really good too! I ended up have a sour beer which was key lime flavored and it was amazing! My friend and I had fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. For the main course I had the ballroom burger can I just say the fries were the best I have ever had!! Definitely recommend if you like BBQ!!

Peter H.

Yelp
Great food, and awesome service! I happened to have some time to kill and decided to check this place out. We'll worth the visit.

Dale K.

Yelp
Best Brisket in USA. Be sure to have the "Bag of Hammers " brisket sandwich. The 1924 Salad is better than I remember from the old Johnny Harris Restaurant.
google avatar

James C.

Yelp
Never had a bad meal here. Everything is prepared well and smells amazing even before walking in. I mean, I've eaten at nearby places and come out to smell this place it I wanted some even though I was no longer hungry in the least. Brisket is mouth watering here. I'm not much of a red meat eater, so the pork is always a nice meal. I haven't tried chicken here yet. Next time! Never had bad service--everyone smiles. Looks like they enjoy working there. That seems to be a very important factor in a great experience.

Mark W.

Yelp
Enjoyed the meal Too pricey but will be eating from the food truck tomorrow. Look forward to lunch.
google avatar

Jessica T.

Yelp
My husband enjoyed the #hashbrown sandwich which was surprisingly delicious. I would order this one again next time! I ordered the 1924 salad and it was simple and enjoyable. The Mac n cheese was honestly one of the best we've had. Staff was friendly and clean. It's a good spot for families with young kids.

Screen P.

Yelp
Came for lunch. Clean building, nice atmosphere, however our waitress Cecelia L only stopped by our table three times, a greeting, drop off drinks and next for our payment. Ordered two of the same sandwiches, one large and one small. Only difference was one came on a bun, the other on toast. Not worth the price difference in my opinion. Barbecue sauce and special ketchup sauce was gross but needed something to dip fries and sandwich in so we ate it. $3.50 for a glass of tea is a little pricy. We will not be back.

Keith L.

Yelp
The wings are out of this world and the brisket is magnificent! The service at the bar is polite and efficient as well.

Ava S.

Yelp
I ate here for lunch. I got the butterfly and it was AMAZING! The service was wonder and the place was so cute. Will definitely be back !!
