"Douglas Road station is about five blocks east of the Shops At Merrick Park, which is where you’ll find Brasserie Central—a French restaurant with a killer boeuf bourguignon and steak tartare. You can pretend you’ve taken the Paris Métro instead of the Miami one while you sip pastis at their bar. Then feel free to peruse the Louis Vuitton store in Neiman Marcus while you try not to burp on expensive purses. " - Virginia Otazo, Ryan Pfeffer

"Brasserie Central is French, and that’s it. That's why we love it—and what makes it so different from many of Miami's other French options—which range from conceptual post-modern food that looks like an art major’s thesis to Cuban fusion. But you’re coming to Brasserie Central to slice into a perfectly cooked entrecôte with a haystack of frites and a boat of glistening béarnaise. The interior of the Gables spot nails the brasserie aesthetic: a marble bar counter, charcuterie station, and narrow open kitchen. Specials and the rotating prix fixe menu are written on chalkboards, and nothing on the menu strays much from tradition either. This is where you go for huge portions of French favorites, like boeuf bourguignon or steak tartare—finely hand-chopped and seasoned with just enough of a kick. But even if you’re not in the mood for a bottle of wine and a three-hour multi-course lunch break because your boss is très Américain, there are other ways to have a great meal at Brasserie Central. Sit at the bar and order an apéritif, like la mauresque with Ricard, orgeat, Campari, and soda. If you need something to snack on with your drink, get the mousse de foie de volaille—the smoothest chicken liver mousse we’ve ever tasted—or an order of escargot in bright green parsley butter. Need something a little less heavy for a solo lunch? Order the salade lyonnaise, which has just the right proportion of lardons, poached egg, and vinaigrette. Or if you want to reward a young shopper for not throwing an absolute tantrum in the middle of Nordstrom, few things say “you’ve earned this” better than a plate of ice cream-filled profiteroles you get to drizzle with your own little dish of warm chocolate sauce. Miami needs a place like Brasserie Central. It’s a nearly flawless example of not only traditional French cooking but the whole brasserie experience. And if it weren't for the unmistakable cadence of a nearby Miami accent, Brasserie Central does a wonderful job of convincing you you're in Paris instead of an outdoor mall in Coral Gables. Food Rundown Soupe à l’Oignon Gratinée This is a standard but excellent French onion soup with enough melted gruyère to fill the Venetian Pool. It’s the perfect comfort food and so satisfying to run a spoon through. Mousse de Foie de Volaille This chicken liver mousse is unbelievably rich, smooth, and velvety. It’s served in a glass jar with a side of gherkins, pickled vegetables, and marinated beets. Just ask for more bread as soon as this dish arrives. You’re going to need it. Escargots de Bourgogne These are prepared in a classic Burgundy style: garlic, finely chopped parsley, and lots and lots of butter. The super tender snails soak up the flavors really well. Just make sure there’s a healthy pile of bread on the table for dipping. Salade Lyonnaise Brasserie Central does this classic salad better than anywhere else in Miami. It’s in the appetizer section but makes a great entrée too. The frisée is crisp and slightly bitter. The thick, salty lardons and perfectly runny poached egg add richness while a mildly tart vinaigrette brings everything together beautifully. It’s one of those rare salads that feels light and indulgent all at once. Entrecôte Frites Brasserie Central’s entrecôte (AKA steak frites) is perfectly cooked to order with a nice crust. The fries are so good you may accidentally finish them before you’re done with the steak. But the crowning glory in all of this is the béarnaise, which is a textbook version of this tarragon-infused sauce. Le Tartare Parisien We like to think of this as summertime steak because it’s light, cold, and gives us the French equivalent of what Miami loves about ceviche: raw meat with spicy, bold, and refreshing flavors. The beef is finely minced and the accompanying matchstick fries are simple but exactly what you want in an order of frites: thin, crispy, and hot. Boeuf Bourguignon Braisées We’re glad Brasserie Central stuck to tradition with this, because this classic dish of braised beef in a red wine sauce is already perfect on its own. Brasserie Central’s version has a very rich sauce that is full of beefy flavor with just the right amount of red wine. The one modification they make is they serve it with a side dish of buttered orecchiette, which works really well. BC Profiteroles Glacées There’s just something special about cream puffs stuffed with scoops of vanilla cream and served with a side of warm chocolate sauce for drizzling. It makes us feel like a kid finishing a meal with a sundae—but in a way that says “you’re a sophisticated adult now.”" - Carlos C Olaechea

I have been going to Brasserie Central on a regular basis for about 9 years. There are good reasons for that, including: - Excellent food: I’ve had almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. From steak to the daily lunch special, the food, coupled with the music and ambiance, takes you to Paris. -Attentive and friendly staff: The staff is amazing. Chef Alex, GM Victor, all the bartenders, servers, food runners, and hosts, all do their best to make your visit special. -Ambiance: the décor is charming and the air is filled with French music and the buzz of cooking and conversations. -Great Happy Hour In summary, I look forward to coming here every time and I always leave with a smile.

This place deserves a 5* I came here 2x for lunch and this time around I ordered the soup of the day ( butternut squash) it was delicious and the orange crepe was also delicious! Service excellent both times! Happy hour menu 4-7pm everyday food and drink options on here. The first time here I ordered the mussels it was okay not covered in sauce so it was more plain I wouldn’t order that again, and I also tried the flat bread that was the best I ever had!

Our next food adventure take us to Brasserie Central located in Coral Glades inside Merry park, we going last Saturday because I see the comercial video many times give me hungry to visit the place but our experience was not good. First if you are ready to spend 3 hours in one restaurant this the place, the waiter is alone for to many tables to attend she was so kind and professional but she is the only one inside. And the food was ok nothing special to say about my burger, but my wife and son food is amazing and delicious, I asking for a beer and the food is coming and almost I finish my food before my drink coming because they don't have no one to served I don't know what I say about recommend the place.

This restaurant was truly a phenomenal experience! The host that greeted me and my friends was immensely nice and helped us quickly get a table, and our waitress the entire time was properly attentive (coming around enough to check on us and refill the water, but not too little where we were neglected, and not too much where she'd be a nuisance, she was perfect!) The atmosphere of the restaurant is immaculate, it's clean, and looks like a nice little French brasserie, with great music playing through speakers at a good volume level, fully establishing an immersive environment. The food, wow, was delicious! I ordered the whole artichoke as an appetizer which came with a delightful vinaigrette over what might usually be a mayonnaise dip, and it was a far better alternative. The artichoke was cooked properly, and overall tasted great. My meal was the steak tartare with the frites which was beautiful. The frites were perfectly crunchy and a good size, with the tartare itself refreshingly good, a bit spicy, yet cool and light in the sense where I didn't feel overly full and gross after a few bites. For dessert I order the floating island and a cappuccino. Now the floating island was perfectly crafted, the creme anglaise was so delightful and the merengue with caramel on top was so light, fluffy, and the proper amount of sweet, creating this whole flavorful experience that I recommend everyone ought to try at least once. The cappuccino was a good way to end the meal, executed correctly, it was a great addition at the tail end of a delightfully delicious food parade. Overall I highly recommend this establishment to all, it's in a nice location, it looks stunning (it has an open kitchen where you can see the magic), the service was good, and the food is some truly amazing French food, I will most definitely be coming again!

Unfortunately, recommending this restaurant would be wrong of me. Do not let the name or the marketing fool you it is far from being Authentic French cuisine. I should have definitely read the reviews before dropping in. I ordered a Bibb Salad that was a complete joke. Nothing about this salad was elegant or classic. It was missing a few important ingredients, no minced shallots, chives, tarragon, parsley. There was no mustard vinaigrette as described in their own menu. I then also ordered their Poulet Rôti (Rotisserie Chicken) major disappointment. Boston Market serves better chicken. One taste of the potatoes disgusting probably was made from a box. The brown gravy they added to chicken tasted like powdered gravy mix can't even bother with making in-house gravy. Sad. 0

Delicious and wonderful service! New Year’s Eve was packed and they had the best party in the mall! I tried the pate and it was deliciously served with an iced cold Stella Artois... great music, great vibe, fast and kind service. Compliments to Gonzalo and all bartenders! Happy new year and cheers!!

Terrible experience which ruined a previously good experience! We came on a Monday and it was amazing. Great food, great service etc. Came in on a Wednesday... The service was terrible. We ordered the same drinks appetizers and entrees as we had on Monday, because we had been so pleased. This was an amazing disappointment! The drinks were poured half size, I'm guessing because it was happy hour, but it was happy hour on Monday as well and they were full size! The food was sub-par, and the sea bass, which was literally "melt in your mouth" on Monday, was raw in the middle...We had to return the fish, the waiter, Guillermo, was unapologetic and met our disappointment with a sneer. He proceeded to spend the next 45 MINUTES, ignoring us so we waited, with nothing but a slightly sour stomach and a bad night, while he repeatedly avoided eye contact with us. The waitress on Monday did an amazing job and provided great service. Such an awful contrast we won't be back! We live 2 blocks away sadly. I thought this would be one of our "go to" restaurants as a new transplant to Miami. My wife asked to speak to a manager before we left and 2 people said okay, then we were told there was no manager on duty. I call doody!

Always a good place to eat, with its tasty, French cuisine. The service gets a little hectic on the weekends. The staff is running all over the place and the patrons are not first of mind. But weekdays, much better service and always great food. Not enough help for outside and inside as is the case now-a-days.
