"This new upscale Vietnamese in Greenwich Village right on Bleecker Street is great for people watching and the pho is substantial. It’s loaded with sliced raw ribeye and fatty oxtail, making the broth one of the richest in town. The garlic vinegar on the side is a welcome innovation." - Robert Sietsema

"Like a lot of West Village restaurants, Brasserie Vietnam feels like the kind of place where celebrities in baseball caps might attempt to blend in with the general population. Filled with palms and decorated with cityscapes, the restaurant falls somewhere between casual and upscale, while the kitchen takes classic Vietnamese and French dishes and zhuzhes them up—with mostly successful results. A few dishes stand out, thanks to unexpected touches like sambal and brown sugar on bone marrow, and pork floss in a filet mignon bánh mì. But a few dishes miss the mark, like a chewy duck à l’orange, and a ribeye and oxtail pho that lacks the   you’d expect for a $25 broth. While Brasserie Vietnam doesn't quite make the list of in the city, it's still a good addition to the neighborhood. " - Kenny Yang

Nestled in an enchantingly dimmed ambiance in Greenwich, Brasserie VietNam offers a serene dining experience that’s a delightful departure from the typical NYC culinary scene. The service here is prompt, and the staff is impressively knowledgeable, readily providing insightful answers to all our questions about the menu. This charming establishment marries French culinary finesse with a subtle Vietnamese twist, making each dish a discovery of flavors. The food presentation is nothing short of exquisite. A standout dish was the Fried Rice, impeccably cooked and elevated by two generous pieces of succulent bone marrow that melded beautifully with the flavors. We also ordered their Banh Mi and their seafood dish both providing a great insight into the excellent food quality and flavors the restaurant has to offer. I highly recommend Brasserie VietNam to anyone eager to explore an exceptional dining experience that combines excellent food, stellar service, and reasonable prices.

Dinner was delicious! Everything we ordered was amazing. This is a great spot for a date night. All the dishes can be easily shared between 2 people— except for the special fried rice. That was huge! My favorites were the bahn mi sliders, beef cheek, and steak and frite. My husband’s favorites were the special fried rice, clam pot, and the skate and scallop mango curry. Definitely come here for your next date night 😉

Google
The food is delicious! Very sophisticated eg: fish sauce jelly, beef cheeks, clam pot in a coconut with sake.. But the portions are designed for date nights instead of large crowds. The menu has been elevated to focus on a more French style. This is not a typical pho restaurant, if you are looking for a higher end Vietnamese French cuisine, definitely try it out.

Cocktails were well crafted and the ambience was good (nice vibes and easy to chat with friends). Unfortunately, the restaurant did not meet expectations in a few areas including very slow service, unavailable menu items and drinks, and food that was quite average. For the price it currently falls short of the competition. Best item: Bahn Mi Sliders Best Cocktails: Hot Lips Note: They have instituted a new menu as of April 2024 and many prior items on their website are no longer available.

I had the chance to grab dinner here during the week with a friend. We had made a reservation for a Wednesday evening around 6 and honestly, it doesn't seem as if this is needed since the restaurant opens at that time and there weren't many people waiting when they opened their doors. We were seated immediately when we arrived and given menus to look over before placing our orders. I decided to go with the pho bo noodle dish ($19) with oxtail. This dish is exactly what I needed on a cold February night and hit the spot in more ways than one. The staff was super efficient and attentive to our needs. The restaurant itself was spacious and had a really interesting mural of nighttime Hanoi which was really cool. This spot seems great to have some interesting Vietnamese dishes. Visit with friends for a guaranteed good meal!

We visited Vietnam Brasserie for the holiday feast due to its location and romantic ambience. We had their Nem Ran, Bahn Ni Sliders (S) and Braised Short Rib as appetizers. I personally loved the slider infused with black truffle. We had their Garlic Butter Shrimp, Baby Lamb Chops and Crabmeat Fried Rice which were not duplicated as our last visit. The lamb chops were grilled probably, soft and tender. My roommate loved their appetizing fried rice with little spice.

Yelp
I had high hopes for Brasserie Vietnam. When I walked in I was really excited. Having grown up in nyc, I got used to the shabby looking viet places of Chinatown. For once I can see elevated viet food. (Vibe felt different than madame vo or monsieur x) upon sitting down, it took the waitress ten minutes before bringing us a menu. Throughout dinner, I felt I had a hard time getting a server/ waitress. But it's an Asian place! Service is not most important but the food/drinks are most important. Drinks are too watered down. Best recommendation would be to not shake the sake/soju drink. It comes in a big glass and is cold but it just taste like super watered down sake with pandan/yuzu. Please just provide a glass with a block of ice, pour in the pandan flavor and sake. Simple and would have been delicious. We ordered bbh which was a mistake. Pork hock was barely chewable. Soup base was not what we expected. Since it was a French viet place, I figured ordering butter garlic shrimp as an appetizer would be safe. Whether it be more French or more viet, you can't mess up shrimp and mushroom..... and they did. Shrimp were overcooked, mushroom was super watery. It was a hot plate of mushroom shrimp soup. (Maybe offer bread so the soupiness isn't so weird) All in all, very sad that this place didn't work out. Maybe we ordered the wrong items. Maybe it was too late at night and the staff were too busy in the back. I still appreciate the viet smells while watching others sip on a glass of wine.

Yelp
what we ordered: Iced Vietnamese coffee $7 Vietnamese egg coffee $7 Braised short rib $19 Banh mi sliders $13 Bone marrow $18 Bun bo hue $21 Crab meat fried rice $28 Duck a l'orange $34 Crème brûlée $11 . Truly one of the best meals I've had in awhile and every dish kept surprising me. The banhmi is was tipsy, the beef short rib was tender, the bone marrow practically fell off the bone. The bun bo hue had great spices , while the fried rice was seasoned so well, and the duck was really soft + the skin was crispy. You definitely have to end the meal with desserts!! The creme brûlée was just so good

Yelp
Everything was perfect! The food was delicious, great service, and the ambiance is absolutely beautiful and cozy. Definitely recommend it!

Yelp
Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: 5/5 Value: 5/5 Wow! This was a nice surprise. Brasserie Viet-Nam is a cute Vietnamese restaurant with delicious Vietnamese classics with a twist. The eggplant starter is phenomenal. They use fatty ground pork and the texture of the eggplant is wonderfully tender and rich with flavor. The crispy tofu and papaya salad was also great, but probably the least favorite. The grilled red snapper (they were out of sea bass) was light and crispy with what seemed to be a tomatillo based sauce and some pink grapefruit. It was citrusy with a mild kick and perfectly cooked to be crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. Finally, the pho broth was lovely, with delicious spices and a very rich oxtail flavor. The flavor was mostly derived from the umami of the meat and bone mixed with spices and not overly salty. Really enjoyed this gem. Nice work from the team and would be interested in checking out their other Chinese restaurant nearby.

Yelp
We enjoyed this spot! Right now it shows that it isn't open on weekends for brunch but it is! We like the vibe of the space since the decor is nice. If you come in the summer, the ac is a nice break until you adjust and then it's chilly so perhaps bring layers We liked sharing all the items family style and service was really helpful in providing us with sharing plates bowls and utensils. We enjoyed all the dishes and my personal favorites were the papaya salad and pho though I like the variety!

Cathy L.

Yelp
Such a delicious meal! My friend and I caught up over a great dinner at Brasserie Vietnam. Not too busy and easy to get last minute reservations. Solid selection- we shared the crispy crab, bone marrow, squid, pho no (not pictured) and the crispy red snapper. The food came fast so be ready to start chowing down asap! The squid was the tastest, the sauce was so good and the squid cooked to perfection. For dessert we had the crème brûlée. The meal was decent but the flavors (snapper, bone marrow and pho) felt a bit lacking. Solid meal when you are in the West Village and don't have reservations though!

Tim O.

Yelp
Probably the most underrated restaurant on Bleecker. Creative menu items and nice drinks. Accessible enough to be a regular stop.

Diane T.

Yelp
My friend and I came here on a Friday evening excited to experience what French + Vietnam fusion cuisine could taste like. We ordered some shochu cocktails, the Concubine one was delicious. Then bone marrow and a small portion of banh mi Sliders. I'm not generally a bone marrow fan but this one was more palatable than normal, so hey, good job with that. The bread it came with was on the sweeter side which I didn't hate...but also didn't love. The banh mi Sliders I ordered were very much on the smaller side. Probably about the quarter of a portion of a full sized banh mi sandwich for the same price. Now, to be fair, it came with a black truffle paste which was nice but honestly didn't elevate it enough from a taste perspective to justify the cost. It was missing...something creamy/acidic? I can't quite put my finger on it. Then came the pho where I added a portion of oxtail. It was fine. I was ready to have my face punched by flavor and my mind boggled by the french/viet intrigue. My was was not lunch. My mind was not boggled. It was a basic pho with sliced ribeye and oxtail. Cest la vie. All in all, the food was pretty good but I was definitely a bit underwhelmed.

Yelp
Upscale deliciousness Vietnamese food, TOP NOTCH SERVICE, great for occasions That bone marrow is delectable

Yelp
Went here for a friend's birthday and loved the food, atmosphere, and service. This is a great spot for a special occasion -- highly recommend ordering a number of items and splitting everything. Bone Marrow - Absolutely delicious, but entirely too small of a dish. There isn't even enough actual substance for the few pieces of bread provided. For $18, I expected more. That said, I could eat this all day -- so good. It's so savory and smooth. My first experience with bone marrow was very positive. Shrimp Lollipop - I wasn't very excited about these when we ordered them, but I was blown away. Excellent crunch and flavor. Duck A L'orange - Extremely tender, perfectly cooked, juicy, and elegant. As entrees go, this one is a little small (try adding a more substantial side), but other than that, it's absolutely delicious. Beef Stew - Another delicious one. Take all of the positive adjectives from Duck A L'orange and apply them here. This one is a bit more substantive than the duck, but the same comment on size follows. It would be a better dish overall with a side. Pro tip: Order all of these (just enough for 2 people) and try everything. Value: 3/5 Quality: 5/5 Quantity: 2/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5

Yelp
Brasserie Viet-Nam is a new Vietnamese-French fusion restaurant on Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village. The food is terrific, simply flavor bombs. The service is friendly and attentive. The restaurant is casual and well done. We like it a lot and will certainly be back.

Alex R.

Yelp
Our group of 3 made last minute reservations at the Brassiere, which is on the same block as some well known places like John's Pizza and Bleecker St pizza . The space is very much brasserie style, subway tiles floor etc. the waitress was steering us towards sharing a bunch of appetizers but we wanted a broader selection. Bone marrow was brûléed which was interesting and I kind of wanted more. The pho as excellent and was probably my favorite. It was deeply satisfying and done with a lot of love. The oxtail was falling off the bone. The duck was ok but was chewy and fat wasn't rendered well. Orange flavor lacked intensity. We also liked bahn mi with filet mignon.

Norman H.

Yelp
This was our first time here. I really and truly wanted to give five stars, because the servers, bartenders, bussers, are all superb. The bartender in particular was super generous with prosecco, with suggestions, and just being an all around nice guy. Maybe we weren't too hungry, but we felt like we overordered. Soft shell crab and papaya salad (a few points off here, because the fried tofu and the crab tasted like they had been cooked together. Also, not enough sauce/dressing for the dishes), and then green noodles and fried red snapper. The latter two dishes were HUGE and I think we left half of each, at least. Same problem as with the appetizers: not enough sauce to go with the dishes. They were well cooked (there wasn't a bit of greasy taste on the fish),though, which counts for a lot. Minor issues that may be just me: I hate the uniforms. They look like some kind of butcher's overalls, and I didn't see how they fit into the Viet/French theme. I also didn't "get" why the menus are printed on distressed paper: it makes it very hard to read the items. Biggest peeve though: they do a GOOD thing by marking menus to let you know what they have and don't have - but they only do it on some of the menus, not all, and they don't keep up. There was one dish marked off on my menu as not available, but according to the menu my husband got, they had it. Also, there were two items that they didn't have, but we didn't know that until we tried to order one of them. Design is a matter of choice, of course, but clearer menus would be a really good idea.

Jade H.

Yelp
Food was so delicious. We had dinner here tonight after seeing only 2 reviews. We came here to find out they've only been open for one week. We were lucky we arrived at 7 PM no reservation no issue. That won't be the case for long...it was amazing We had the bun mi slider which was a hit. The bone marrow is full of flavor. Highly suggest the crispy spring rolls. We had the duck l'orange and the crab rice for the win. We'll be coming back!

Norvel H.

Yelp
3 out of 4 dishes came out Luke warm. Can't they tell when they're holding the plate? We sat in back and AC was absolutely frigid- maybe that's why the food was cold? And every time a server went to the basement, a glaring fluorescent or LED bulb shined in. Very annoying. All in all, I'll be going back to Bayard street for a less pretentious. Sorry because the servers were all very pleasant. Thanks to owner Roy for responding so promptly- clearly you are a professional and I wish you the best and success - we will be back !

Kyle M.

Yelp
Sliders were pretty good with good quality meat. Dumplings and pho were forgettable. Service is prompt and friendly. The place looks much fancier that I expected with modern decor.

Ryan H.

Yelp
The food was delicious, service was on par ambiance was ehh. The cocktails sounded good but were 15-20 bucks and I didn't recognize the alcohol so I didn't try. Started with the papaya salad which was incredible. Sweet and savory at the same time with the occasional spice, great flavor. Next was the bahn mi sliders which I wasn't blown away with, but the bread was light and crispy and the meat was tender and cooked perfectly. I think the daikon could have used a bit of extra flavor but I was satisfied with the dish. Spring rolls were authentic and served with a lettuce wrap and chili sauce. The chili sauce was a bit neutral but I loved the spring rolls purely for the satisfying crunch. Main course was the short rib pho. There was a healthy portion of short rib even after separating the meat from connective tissue and bone. It was so tender and flavorful, well done! The pho broth I prefer to have a bit more flavor but the broth wasn't too oily which I appreciate. Overall this was some of the better Vietnamese I've had in the city.

Suki H.

Yelp
I like the shrimp zucchini and their pho is so good! Great service! Great atmosphere!

Anna L.

Yelp
Amazing service and great cocktails! Make sure to try the 'off menu' ones :) Definitely coming back to try the brunch!

Lisa X.

Yelp
Great new place on Bleecker. Beautiful decor and great food. We got the shrimp vermicelli and banging beef and both were delicious. Only complaint is the price point is a tad high but overall great experience and would go back

Ma S.

Yelp
Food is pretty good. I like the scallop a lot. The decoration and service are also very nice.

Johnson L.

Yelp
Ehhhhh a bit disappointed in the bun bo hue and pho that my brother and I both tried. Great ambiance and friendly staff but the broth for both dishes were so bland and at that price point not really acceptable. Maybe they had an off day and I'll give it another whirl - the duck looks good but we'll see.

P S.

Yelp
Really bad experience, food is tasteless, service was bad. Place was empty and we waited twenty min to get drinks. Server knew nothing about the food. Do not waste your money!

Ashley R.

Yelp
This place was OK. The staff were friendly and sweet. The ambience was great. My cocktail was nice. Appetizers/portions are quite small for the price but decent. The mini banh mi were disappointing with tough meat. But overall giving a 4-star since I would go back for a cocktail, the spring rolls, and moneybag dumplings.

Henry Y.

Yelp
Honestly one of the most disappointing meals I've had this year. Ambiance: fine. Service: fine, although food came out incredibly late. We waited 40+ minutes before the apps came out cold & room-temperature. Process management and efficiency are clearly not strong suits. But that's fine as they appear to be a relatively newly opened restaurant so I'm sure they've got kinks to work out. That said, the food was just uniformly mediocore to bad: - Bone marrow. Bread was some cheap $1 store "baguette" that had no chew and was just stale. The bone marrow, while...fine, was just overly sweet. Way too sweet. So you've bought bone marrow, which costs very little to begin with and paired it with underwhelming bread, and this concoction somehow took 40 minutes to make. - Papaya salad. ...I mean I don't even know how you get this wrong. Thinking about this dish just makes me sad. It was soggy. I've never even had soggy papaya salad. Ever. The shrimp was a disconcerting room temperature and somehow also had a rubbery chew to it. - Shaking beef. I'm no expert on this dish but this was also just bad. The cubed beef is wayyyyy too tough and way too large. It's also barely cooked. I'm fine with rare to medium-rare though, as long as the beef meat itself is tender and breaks easily. These did not. - Pho. This was fine. Definitely not great but probably the most acceptable out of all four dishes that we ordered. But even then, the oxtail was way too fatty, the noodles way too few. The four aforementioned dishes were ones we were eyeing from the beginning but also ones recommended by the waiter. If these are truly the most popular dishes, then the high ratings for this restaurant are really perplexing. Would not recommend this place to anyway and certainly wouldn't come back.

Steve G.

Yelp
The three of us were their first customers and we had their tasting menu. The service was very kind and professional and the food was the best Vietnamese cuisine we've ever tasted in NYC. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and I've never had as tasty bone marrow. The restaurant offers a wonderful, calm ambience. While they do not yet have any Vietnamese beer, that's a very small issue. So try this West Village gem

YJ L.

Yelp
The chef wasn't even there when we arrived. Maybe consider canceling the reservation and closing the place if there is no one cooking in the kitchen. Also, there's a review on Google Maps about the presence of WHITE WORMS in their Bahn Mis. It's disgusting. Do not believe these 5-star reviews...

Sioux C.

Yelp
Never heard of this place until I saw a "commercial" on Instagram that made the restaurant look inviting. I went and it was. Food delicious with lots of choices. Picked two small plates that were enough for a meal. Loved the clams in a superb broth with breadsticks to sop up the goodness and a really good bohn mi. Service was very attentive. Highly recommend. So glad I saw the Instagram "commercial". It delivered what was promised

Mark G.

Yelp
Ate here as soon as it opened and it was fantastic! We all enjoyed out meals from the a la carte menu, the standouts were definitely the short rib (out of this world!) and the Bahn Mi sliders which were the best I've ever had. Highly reccommend

Hunter A.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere. Friendly service. Food is below average which is disappointing because no good Vietnamese in the nearby area

Ali D.

Yelp
they've been really rude to me. i can't accept and forgive this kind of behavior. i do not suggest this business to anyone

Ken E.

Yelp
Food was just ok; tasted a bit water down. The papaya salad was watery, the raw scallops were served on a warm plate, and the orange duck tasted average. The restaurant has potential but needs to up its game.

Shikun L.

Yelp
This is my second time here. The Food is amazing as last time. We ordered the Duck a la Orange, Banh Mi sliders, Bone Marrow, Clam pot and Crab Fried Rice. Love the Bone Marrow especially, you can't taste it anywhere else. The duck is tender and moist with balanced Orange sauce. Our server was so welcome and sweet. Thanks Esther. I will definitely bring more friends to visit!

María A.

Yelp
This place has the right location and look. It stops there. Bland food, stale papaya salad, bland duck, such a waste. This wasn't even on par with cheap Tai delivery. Ours server was nice though. Thanks Sebastián.

Lara S.

Yelp
Delicious Vietnamese food! Everything that we ordered was really good: the pho, the banh mi sliders, summer rolls, papaya salad, and dumplings. Very good service too! Love this new restaurant addition to the neighborhood

Caroline S.

Yelp
I had the most delightful experience at Brasserie Viet-Nam - from the service to the decor to the food. One dish was better than the next.. we ordered the summer rolls, papaya salad, crab fried rice, and vermicelli and it was all absolutely delicious. Our server was a gem, she was so kind and attentive. The food was also reasonably priced especially given it's in the heart of West Village. I'll definitely be back!

Inson W.

Yelp
Amazing variety of food. The staff is fast courteous and kind. Environment was simple yet sophisticated - a good spot when u need a quality meal with no fuss.
