"Prato feito, or “plates,” is the specialty at this over-the-top Brazilian-themed A-frame restaurant. As in botecos and lanchonetes in Brazil, there are different plates for each day of the week. This menu is extensive with a picanha, shrimp with bacon, or the chicken milanesa plate. Everything comes with rice, fries, or batata palha (stick fries). Head to the Brazilian Plate House on Wednesday or Saturday for traditional feijoada." - Bill Esparza, Mona Holmes

Google
I was excited to try the 200 x-picanha sandwich. When I got my sandwich, i was really disappointed the meat was grounded and well-done. Why doesnt a brazilian restaurant serve picanha sliced like in the pictures??? It tasted like an oily cheese burger or patty melt. However, the salsa helped fight off the grease and made the meal somewhat alright. I don’t think the price is worth it for grounded up beef on a sandwich.

Food s good. Has a little bit of everything. Rice was very salty. Fries criapy. Fresh juice great as well.

Google
I ate the feijoada and the pastel de Frango com catupiry! The cheese inside the pastel is so lovely! We had a lovely time and the staff were so friendly and helpful! Great food great service!

The Best Feijoada in California! As a Brazilian now I can recommend a delicious and traditional Brazilian Food! The Staff are very friendly and kind!

Google
🇧🇷 BRAZIL (via Eat the World Los Angeles) A small tented area is great for sunny afternoons with cool Torrance breezes, but since all food is packed to go no matter where you eat it, it also makes sense as a pickup for beach days if you are taking advantage of the South Bay. The menu is large and can go meaty or leafy as desired, with everything in between.

Google
This is hands down one of the better Brazilian restaurants in the area. The food is authentically Brazilian with a wide range of Brazilian deserts and appetizers. It only doesn’t not receive full 5 stars due to the restaurant itself as it’s not very inviting and does not have a restroom at the location itself. Regardless the food itself outshines any deficiency. Would recommend for dinner take out or lunch dine in.

Always driving by the cute little place and finally tried. Food are authentic and tasty and grilled just right.

Google
So good! I was looking for something different and I like to try and support local small businesses so I gave it a try and was very pleasantly surprised! If you want to try something besides fast food, give this place a try. If you don't know what to order and you like beef, just start with the 300. I'm no lumberjack but I have a hardy appetite and the 300 fills me up every time. Very tasty food.

Yelp
Say "Welcome to Authentic Brazilian Food!" I was in Torrance, CA visiting a friend in the hospital and I found this delicious and delightful little Brazilian restaurant - Brazilian Plate House. The food was excellent and the entire staff was very friendly and welcoming. I speak a little Portuguese so talking with the owner and her staff was fun. They were very gracious and kind with my pronunciations. I ate here twice now and had the picanha and feijoda on Saturday (Brazilians always have feijoda on Saturdays). On Monday, I had the tilapia Fit plate with yuca, grilled zucchini, fried bananas, and a salad. My only complaint is that they do not have any inside seating and no propane gas heaters on the outside deck. After sunset the outside seating can be chilly in February. So dress warm or get your food to go. Enjoy! You will love it! Aproveitar! Você vai adorar!

Yelp
The food was quite good and plentiful. Remember, you're ordering steak so this isn't inexpensive , but it's cheaper than a fancy Brazilian steakhouse When we were there a whole bunch of Brazilians were ordering, so I'm guessing it's authentic We ordered the plates and a Brazilian soft drink. The steak was well cooked, the sides were good and it came with a Small container of salsa as well as a lovely pepper sauce Casual? Oh yes! It's Located in one of the old Weinerschnitelzel buildings with the eating area covered and "fenced " off from the car park , but you are adjacent to a busy road. This is not a romantic dining spot BUT they do bring the food out to you AND the folks who work there are super nice This is definitely worth trying if you've never been

Yelp
Service was awesome and the staff were very polite. Food was OUTSTANDING and worth every penny! Definitely coming back soon

Chino L.

Yelp
Excellent picanha- tender, tasty, and juicy, especially the fat! Fries were great too. It was well-seasoned and crispy. Fried yucca was much better than the boiled one. It was a tad too expensive ($24 with tax and tip) considering it was a 6oz steak albeit with many sides.

Miguel J.

Yelp
Amazing food and service. I've been going for many years and I was always treated well.

Rick H.

Yelp
I wanted to really like this place, but the best word I can come up with is "adequate". Sort of. It's a fast food setup, order at the window, and you can eat in the small outdoor seating area. The service was immediate and friendly, no issues, very pleasant. I had an appetizer of Risole de Cameron, and the Picanha plate. The Risole de Cameron were light and tasty. As many others have mentioned, the Picanha is a very small portion, and it left me wanting. Very little spice, thin, a bit tough, too much fat and quite salty. The black beans were disappointing. Bland, no bits of meat, not particularly warm and underwhelming. They tasted canned. The fries were alright, fresh and hot. I substituted yucca for the rice, and that was the real star of the meal. The yucca was excellent. Not sure if I'll return, but if I did. it would be on Wednesday or Saturday to try the Feijoada.

Yelp
Brazilian Plate House has always been a very unassuming restaurant along Torrance Blvd, but alas I finally decided to give it a try with a few friends on a Saturday afternoon. You order and pay at the window facing the street, and there are plenty of covered outdoor seating adjacent to the restaurant. Prices are fairly steep for what you get, I definitely recommend you check their menu online before going in person. I ordered a carne louca sandwich and fresh guava juice. The Carne Louca sandwich includes shredded beef and onions on a sourdough baguette (kind of reminded me of a Philly cheesesteak without the cheese). It also comes with lettuce, tomatoes, mustard, mayo, and hot sauce on the sauce. The beef was very savory and cooked well, I could pretty much eat the sandwich without any toppings, but the veggies and sauces add a nice touch. Including some cheese would elevate the sandwich to another level. The fresh guava juice was really good and refreshing. It wasn't very sweet, which is what I prefer, and there was a strong guava flavor. It makes for a perfect pick-me-up on a hot day. Overall, I enjoyed the meal, though the prices would probably prevent me from eating here regularly. It's still worth a try if you're in the area!

Yelp
I was on my way to the pier via Torrance Blvd and just had to make a uturn and make a stop here to try out some traditional snacks like coxinha and pastel. The flavor was great and there were many other dishes I wanted to try, like feijoada...I've gotta come back.

F A.

Yelp
Best Brazilian food I've tried outside Brazil. It tastes just like an authentic homemade cuisine. We ordered 2 different plates, 3 appetizers, drinks, dessert. Everything was phenomenal! The service was fast and friendly. They made sure we had everything and were ok. I wish I lived closer. Would be there every week.

Livia M.

Yelp
Amo ir almoçar nesse restaurante, ambiente família, comida caseira, deliciosa!!! Tem coxinha, pastel super recheado, sucos naturais!!! Vale a pena conferir, super recomendo.

Licica B.

Yelp
Decepcionada hoje!

Helen Y.

Yelp
Amazing food! I was about to get Thai food next door, but saw this place and smelled the food outside and changed my mind. The steak is so good. Everything is delicious. I love the simple flavors they use. It's a large amount of food but because everything was so good, I kind of ate everything at one sitting. I like their outdoor seating area especially when you have a nice day outside.

Bryhan A.

Yelp
Amazing food Definitely one of my favorite spots in Torrance Easy to access and order, parking.

June C.

Yelp
The portions are generous and service is always friendly. This is a great spot for Brazilian food and I always enjoy the food I order from here.

Ed C.

Yelp
Great take out/road side dine in for families!! Do visit this place as we need to maintain family friendly and delicious meals at a reasonable price. With 2 hungry picky kids and a highly critical spouse (*sigh), this place fed us well in a highly satisfying manner.

Tony L.

Yelp
First time here and decided to order a picana plate. It was overpriced for how small the steak is and probably less than 3 ounces for $20 plus rice and fries. I will not come back since the food was very bland. Steak is not even seasoned.

Sean M.

Yelp
I decided to try this with some family. Had the special on Saturday. Food is very simple, but ask for hot sauce, and it hits the spot. Overall, very tasty and feels authentic. The drinks are great too and they have the famous Antarctica soft drink commonly in Brazil

Duke C.

Yelp
Ordered the Coxinha 4 unidades, Pao de Queijo, and the Super Combo with plantains upgrade to go via their website, which was very convenient. Even came with a free Guarana soda! We liked the coxinha although the shredded chicken was a bit dry. The pao de queijo (cheese bread ball) was a disappointment. As for the super combo, the picanha was extremely tough, but the other proteins were great. They forgot the plantains but refunded me after I emailed them. Probably will give it another shot next time and hopefully they were just off their game due to the pandemic!

Yelp
I'm not Brazilian (my great, great grandfather was) but, this is my go to place for Brazilian food. I always go for Combo Paulista. For dessert it's either the Quindim, Pudim de Leite, Mousse de Maracujá or the Caixa Brigadeiros. Granted this place is small but they do have an area where you can eat. There are Brazilian restaurants in the area to chose from but, I prefer coming here. Plus, they have always been so friendly and have great customer service.

Jenn G.

Yelp
After watching a show on Netflix about Brazilian food; I remembered how I've been wanting to check this place out. I chose to get one order of their Super Combo and one order of their Pincanha Combo. The Super Combo comes with Picanha, Brazilian-Tuscan sausage, and grilled chicken breast, rice, black beans, rice, seasoned yuca flour crumbs, and a drink. For the drink I chose the Antactica Guarana drink; a classic Brazilian soda. Super Combo was $27.25 and overall came out to $29.25 because I added extra $2 for substituting the salad for the French Fries. The Picanha combo was $14.95. Overall a little bit on the pricey side as other reviews have stated. Foodwise; flavor was good. The meat and beans were well seasoned and I did like the touch of the yuca flour. From the meats; I enjoyed the Brazilian-Tuscan sausage the best. The steak was good but there were bits of fat that I wish were trimmed off. Certain pieces were tough too (despite me requesting medium rare). The grilled chicken breast was a bit on the dry side. The Super Combo was a good way to try their different meats. The Antactica Guarana reminded me a lot of apple juice. It was refreshing and a good match with the food. I really want to try some of their appetizers such as their Emapanadas, Pao de Queijo and Bolinho de Carne. For a future visit I may skip the combos and try some of these starters.

Yelp
If you want authentic Brazilian food then go no further. This place is big on taste and bigger on customer service. I had the tilapia plate and it was so good, I plan on going back next week. The beans and rice are a game changer. I need to see if they sell it as a side meal. Southbay has a real jewel. Don't miss it.

Mark K.

Yelp
In my previous review my only gripe was that it was a little pricey for the amount of food you got. I've since gone back a couple of times, and I think it's not so bad. So I'm increasing my review by a star. Prices have gone up everywhere due to inflation, but it seems that the prices here haven't gone up as much as some other places. The food is still great and the service is still very good.

Jonathan H.

Yelp
I've always loved Brazilian food, especially after I visited the country, but it's not easy to find a Brazilian restaurant. I just had a doctor's appointment nearby and happened to stumble upon Brazilian Plate House. Every Wednesday and Saturday they sell a traditional Brazilian dish called feijoada, so that's what I ordered. It's the Brazilian equivalent of comfort food and after my doctor's appointment comfort food is what I badly needed. It's a stew of black beans with pork and beef served with rice and salad. It really hit the spot! Hearty and delicious! The portion was huge (it was my lunch and dinner today!) and was perfectly prepared based on my experience with trying it in Brazil. The people at the restaurant are very friendly. The chef came outside to ask me how I enjoyed the dish and she described it as mom's home cooking. The restaurant is a simple place: you order at the take out window and eat at the adjoining outdoor patio. Parking is easy. If you want Brazilian food --- the real thing --- this is the place to go to, especially on Wednesdays and Saturdays when they sell feijoada.

Toshi I.

Yelp
Supporting local biz during the quarantine. Review based on takeout. I've been here a few times and found the food very tasty. Authentic Brazilian but a little on the expensive side though. This was formerly a Wienerschniztel many years ago so it's a standalone tiny building in the parking lot among a few other places to dine at, some fast food and some sit down restaurants. You order and pick up at the window so it's very casual. I had the Steak Picanha Plate combo which initially at first glance, looked really small but it came with rice, beans and French fries. You get a lot of French fries which is a good value but it's excessive and they're the skinny, cripier kind as these appear to be double fried. I think the sandwiches are exceptional. Tried a bit of the Tri-tip with Fried Egg. Very delicious. Would come back here and dine in the glass enclosed patio.

Wally S.

Yelp
They have the best feijoada in Los Angeles, tried in so many different places but Brazilian Plate House is the only one who makes just like the ones from Brazil. The coxinha and brigadeiro are delicious.

Georgia B.

Yelp
Amazing food and drinks I got the super plate. The service was great and ambiance was nice, but over all the food and experience was amazing would recommend.

Mark B.

Yelp
delicious the food the coxinhas all very tasty. very well prepared . totally gourmet. the wonderful service. eating this food reminds me of brazil. I consider it one of the best restaurants in Los Angeles congratulations

rr M.

Yelp
Their dishes are very well seasoned and tasty. You can tell it's prepared in a very healthy way because of the vegetables not being over cooked. The portions are generous and is enough for two meals. I have tried the vegetable dishes as well as our sandwiches. They were delicious. The quality of the food is very good and I recommend that you give them a visit

Cameron E.

Yelp
I've had good experiences here, until my last visit. I ordered a picanacha plate which has always came at least before my most recent visit with Steak, Beans & Rice ... Except i didn't get any beans. Not sure how that happened but i was in a rush don't have time to ask why my beans are missing from my $25 plate... It's already pricy for what it is and w/out the side not worth. Bums me out because the beans are probably the best part.

Chris K.

Yelp
It was my first time ordering from this place and not only did they send me the wrong thing--it also had a really long hair deep fried into it. I'm extremely disgusted and won't ever be back. Shame because I would have easily been a regular.

P G.

Yelp
Went there today to celebrate an anniversary and the people were so very nice and welcoming. Food was authentic and delicious! Highly recommended if you're a fan of Brazilian food.

Vanko B.

Yelp
The Brazilian pastel is way to small for 7.95$. Unfortunately another restaurant that I tried but over priced for small portion.

Mark B.

Yelp
Ordered takeout. The picanha /steak combo plates were good - regular and healthy. The French fries were good on the non healthy plate. We got two desserts that included coconut - a pudding and chocolate cake. Both were good but the pudding was best. The only real downside for us was that it is a bit pricey.

Marcelino D.

Yelp
Absolutely the WORST place to go for a steak, ever! Before I begin, let me preface this review by saying that I hardly ever write reviews. In fact, I hate looking at Yelp reviews as a rule in general. However, this restaurant so enraged me that I felt a deep sense of obligation to document my horrible experience there. First crappy thing they did: it took them almost 45 minutes to get my order ready. Generally, I'm pretty patient and understanding, but 45 minutes standing around on the streets waiting for my food was not reasonable to me. My order was not complex, I didn't ask for anything special, nor did I try to get anything extra. Just the (Steak) "Picanha Fit Plate", RARE. 'Easy enough,' I thought...but was I WRONG, DEAD WRONG. 45 minutes later, after serving food to at least 3 customers who ordered after me, and after waiting in the sun on the streets, my food is finally ready. They have no awareness of time, or how tardy my food is, not a single apology, of course. While I was driving home trying to calm myself from a murderous hungry anger, a single hopeful thought entered my mind: "well, at least you've got your rare steak at last, which you will enjoy." All hope was dashed as soon as I cut into the steak, and all I could see on the inside was overcooked brown shoe leather where meat should've been. What a complete tragedy this "steak" was, whoever cooked it should be whipped in public for destroying perfectly good beef. I said "rare" damnit, I even pointed to the god damn steak chart picture they have posted near the menu FFS! This is officially the worst Brazilian restaurant I've ever been to, bar none. They take forever, they don't know how to cook, or how to tell "rare" from brown shoe leather. I thought because they don't seem like a big company chain, that I'd give the little guy a chance, and spend a little bit more on quality food to keep them in business. +$20 for this plate alone. (including tip, which in hindsight, they did not deserve a single penny!) Little did I know, I would've been better off going to NORMS, where I have a better chance of getting an actual rare steak for only $6 bucks, plus eggs and bacon! Seriously: go anywhere else, but here. They're the absolute worst!

Jocelyn P.

Yelp
We were craving Churrascaria but what with the baby and the current COVID situation, we opted to get takeout. We got 2 picanha plates, a kid's meal, 3 cheese balls, and 2 guaranas. The strange thing was that my picanha plate was soo well seasoned and yummy. My husband's picanha plate, on the other hand, was super bland. He only ate like half, and it wasn't huge or anything. So I tried his, and was very surprised. His tasted like a totally unseasoned slab of steak. I would give this place 5 stars but their meat has to be consistent in flavor. No one wants to play that game of did they remember to salt it or not when you're eating out!

Kaycee K.

Yelp
We went here a few years back and we remembered the picanha was really tasty, so we wanted to go back for the hubby's birthday. My dad ordered from them, but it was more of a "catered" style, so everything came in big trays. *Note to self-- don't order catering. All the meats were disappointing and dry. Here is the breakdown by item. 1) Picanha- 2/5. So dry and disappointing. They should have grilled it and either left it in big pieces for us to cut ourselves OR they should have grilled it and then sliced it into thin slices. Unfortunately, it seemed like they chopped it into small pieces and stir fried them on the grill. They were so tough and dry. 2) Chicken- 2/5. Also very dry. The flavor was nice, but I couldn't get over how dry it was. They should have left it whole and let us cut it. 3) Sausage- 3/5. Again, they chopped it into small pieces and seemed like they just pan fried it-- again, they should have left it whole and let us cut it. The flavor was okay. 4) Black beans- 4/5. Very tasty! 5) Rice 5/5- very tasty and salty. Not mushy at all! 6) Bacon covered shrimp- 3/5. Good flavor, but it was overcooked and dry. 7) Pao de queijo- 5/5. I didn't try it myself, but my entire family enjoyed it! 8) Ground seasoned yuca- 3/5. Had a nice flavor, but I think I'm just not used to it and it just made eating it with dry meats even drier. 7) Portions- 4/5- big portions of rice and beans! It was nice we had our choice of soda, so we all got La Croix. Overall, it was disappointing this time around, especially since we were looking forward to the picanha. Maybe we just need to go back to ordering the individual plates.

Tiffany K.

Yelp
surprisingly pretty good! I've always driven by this place and always wondered how it tasted. The two businesses that were here previously went out of business pretty quickly so I was surprised to see how long brazilian plate house has been able to stay. We got the pichana sandwich combo and a soda which came out to $14. it is a little pricey but it was pretty good. my bf does jiu jitsu down the street and the guys at his school rave about this place and we totally understood why they liked it. parking- free small lot in front of the karate place. the plaza usually isn't busy so it won't be hard to find parking. seating- outdoor seating only. theres about 6 tables so it can fill up quickly on a nice day out.

Alphonse B.

Yelp
Best picahna in LA Terrific service, really neat location. One of my favorite spots in LA overall

Marina C.

Yelp
Authentic Brazilian food! Great price!!! Nice staff and yummy appetizers. I would go back again especially for the beans

Diana I.

Yelp
I got takeout from this place for dinner recently and I was pleasantly surprised! I had low expectations going in because I didn't think the photos looked that appetizing...But it was actually really good! - Coxinha: raindrop shaped dough filled with shredded chicken and creamy cheese. I liked that it was moist and not too dry. - Pao de Queijo: who doesn't love these soft and chewy brazilian cheese bread balls?! I always order these at every Brazilian restaurant I go to. I thought one order would come with maybe 4 small ones but it was literally one cheese ball. Wish I had more! - Picanha Combo: Comes with a 6 oz. prime beef steak, white rice, black beans, french fries, seasoned yuca flour crumbs and choice of drink. I loved the pico de gallo and spicy/tangy sauces they gave on the side that really enhanced the flavor of the meal. The picanha was juicy and flavorful. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the yuca flour crumbs... I didn't really need them and I thought it was unnecessary. They have a few tables outside but it's mostly a takeout-type place. I don't think there's any indoor seating. Parking: free in plaza lot

Natalia R.

Yelp
Food is nicely seasoned, there is plenty of parking which is always a plus, but service could improve. Edit(8/12/19): I don't know what they did to my food but I couldn't eat the rest of the day and for most part on Sunday. Service definitely needs improvement; the "chef" greeted two tables and pretended not to see me. Later as the other patrons left, I saw her peeking from the door to the kitchen, which was quite bizarre. Did she think I was going to steal the salt shaker?! I decided to leave as soon as I finished eating rather than lounge for a bit. The cashier was complaining about the English speaking customer to a coworker, saying "and when I was just about to go to the restroom" and had an attitude when I spoke to her. I don't recommend this place just for the service. No one should pay to eat and feel like they must leave immediately, especially when the place is EMPTY.

Cynthia M.

Yelp
I will keep returning to eat here!! Great customer service!! From all the staff! Food prepped As ordered ! So good!!

Wendi K.

Yelp
The place is a little hut on the side of the street where you go up to the window and order. It's outdoor seating and they bring the food up to you. Honestly, it was a little expensive for what it was and the kind of location it was. They were out of a couple things they didn't have (like Yuca). Food: Tri tip sandwich (X-Tudo Tri Tip) for about $8. Pretty solid brazilian sandwich, nothing to write home about. It came with a side of grilled zucchini for an extra charge (I think of about $1, which was actually the best part of the meal, in my opinion) Chicken pie (Empadinha de Frago) for $3.50. It was a small chicken pastry that came in a foil tin, possibly pre-frozen and kept in a heat tray? Acai Bowl/sorbet for $6 (oops, $5!). This was what surprised me the most. $5 for a pre packaged little acai bowl I could have gotten at the supermarket, hmm. Service was very nice, I might go back again and try different things.

Melissa D.

Yelp
Cool drop in spot for a quick lunch. I got the steak with rice and beans. It was really good. It's all outdoor seating so keep that in mind but the area is really nice. Staff was great and took great care of me and my coworkers.

Yelena T.

Yelp
We took a chance at this place as we were driving around for a quick bite for dinner and I'm so happy we found this spot! I ordered the Super Combo which included the Picanha, chicken, sausage and yucca crumbs. It came with a side of rice, fries and black beans. Daannnngg! It was delicious! We topped it off with a side a fried bananas and it was oh-so-scrumptious! Unfortunately, I don't live around this area but we will definitely be back! The staff was super nice and provided suggestions on this yummy Brazilian cuisine! Deeelish!

Melody M.

Yelp
OBRIGADO, BRAZILIAN PLATE HOUSE! When I missed my nephews wedding in Brazil I was so disappointed at having to miss out on the fantastic Brazilian feast. No more! Brazilian Plate House makes phenomenal and authentic recipes that may be the next best thing to international travel. I highly recommend the coxinha com catupiry and the carne pastel. Owned and operated by a lovely Brazilian woman who personally prepares the food. Deeeelish!

Janelle J.

Yelp
You get what you pay for! Location. I was ecstatic at receiving delicious food so close to my home or job. I tried super combo, pao de quiejo and a guanabana juice. Next time I'll skip those breadcrumbs it was overkill and didn't enhance my meal. No less stars for that though. Service was fast and accurate with to go cutlery and condiments. I'm too upset I didn't stop here sooner. Do yourself a favor and stop to order here.

Brian D.

Yelp
VERY tasty. The beef was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The cod fish balls, DELISH! No indoor seating. There are about 6 tables outside, under cover.

Grace P.

Yelp
Food was good! We over oder as you can see .We ordered two drinks to go a guava & acai fresh drink to go....

Kapri T.

Yelp
The food is so delicious! the X-pichana sandwich was very good, also the cheese bread was one of my favorites. The Acai fresh juice was refreshing. The service is really good too.
