That's not a cinnamon roll, that's a cinnamon pizza.
First time in this bakery, having found it online while looking for new places to check out. Normally wouldn't be able to check them out as they close at 3PM, but lots of end-of-the-year PTO leads to exploring my options.
Ended up going with 9 different choices, a PB cookie, Molasses cookie, Sprinkle cookie, Snickerdoodle cookie, Sugar cookie, Lemon Bar, Vanilla Cupcake, Gingerbread Man cookie, and a Cinnamon Bun. All in all, only a little under $38, not too shabby.
Straight away, the PB Cookie, was mind blowing. It was very richly peanut butter, but not aggressively mud mouth making. And the addition of PB Chips inside was something I wish more places did. The molasses was exactly as it should be, not super sweet and it had that distinct dark flavor. The sprinkle I expected to be a lot doughier, but it surprised me with how crispy it was and how well the sprinkles held up to the baking. The snickerdoodle I wished it had more cinnamon flavor, as it stands now it was only a little spicy and I much prefer snickerdoodles to bite back. The sugar cookie, aside from the fun design, also had a lovely shortbread flavor. The cupcake was very plain, it had a sweet smack to it but I think it could use a twist, maybe some vanilla bean to add more vanilla aroma. The gingerbread man was not as crunchy as I was expecting, nor did it have a super punchy ginger flavor, a bit like the snickerdoodle's cinnamon. And finally that cinnamon bun, just , wow! The frosting was rich and had a proper cream cheese flavor and consistency to it. The bread was well constructed, holding together very well, but not super dense or heavy. They did go light on the cinnamon tar, but that's ok, because they had enough cinnamon proper that it danced well with the massive frosting topping included. Loved this, far better than anything Cinnabon puts out anymore.
A shame they close as early as they do, as I could totally see myself rocking this place as a standard weekly visit.
