"This neighborhood brunch bar channels the diversity and spirit evident in Houston’s dining landscape. R&B hits, soulful classics and regular live music are comforting soundtracks for those indulging in brunch staples like chicken and waffles, and frozen, generously boozy mimosas. Find global influences by way of tandoori chicken, birria de res, and chicken shawarma wraps, and dig into the waffle taco for a model demonstration of the true meaning of “brunch.”" - Eater Staff

"Houston may not be much of a patio city during certain times of the year (yeah, we’re talking to you, August), but the First Ward spot Spring Street Bar & Social Garden’s aims to erase those summer, and sometimes winter, woes. Grab a refreshing cocktail, play some cornhole, relax on a porch swing on the massive patio, or dig into a couple quesadillas from Clutch City Tacos. No matter where you sit, you’ll be surrounded by plants, color, and a lot of fake flower installations. Bring a couple friends, or even a couple different dates, to Spring Street Bar & Beer Garden, especially if you need to get some fresh air with your drink." - Chelsea Thomas

This review is not to tear down the business but to share a real review of my experience. Upon arrival, I thought yo myself, this is a nice spot. I couldn’t wait to eat. The hostess and waitress were very nice. We had a party of five, two being kids. Our reservation was for 1:30pm. While ordering, we were immediately told what they did not have on the menu. I ordered the fried cauliflower but later learned they didn’t have that either. The food came out and the order was incorrect. We ordered egg whites and over easy eggs were brought to the table. We had to send them back. Then we were told that they were out of egg whites but they had eggs. The reason why they couldn’t separate is because it would slow the kitchen down. I finally requested to speak to the manager. He did agree to accommodate one order of egg whites but the other two were not. I expected a better presentation overall. I had a mocktail and the flavor was good. The waffle was somewhat gummy. The bacon was sour. The shrimp and grits was served on a very flat plate instead of a bowl. The veggies in the breakfast potatoes weren’t completely sautéed but the flavor was good. The biscuits could have been warmer. My friend sent his chicken and french toast back. The plates were cracked. We ended up having to move outside because the live music was just too loud. I must say the manager handled our complaints well and offered us a discount for the inconvenience. The restaurant has potential but the menu and presentation needs to be addressed. I will say that the kids enjoyed the shrimp basket and breakfast combo kids meal.

Caught up with the bride to be be while I was in town. I picked this place solely on what I saw on their Instagram account. Boy was I disappointed. We couldn't order any food til 2 because apparently they food is prepared in a food truck. The mimosa tower(drinks) stick pretzels and potatoes are the best things about this place (based off what we ordered). I got the jerk shrimp and grits. She got the catfish and shrimp with a side if potatoes. The grits was like water and the shrimp was not jerk very plain. She said the same about the catfish. Nice waitress and music was bumping. Won't be back. Do Not Get The Grits AND NOTHING.

Google
The only reason I gave a two stars is because our server was good & so were the drinks. After paying $10 for parking, we walk in and we were told they only take reservations, so we’d need to wait at least 45 minutes w no guarantee. I promise you, the place was 15-20% occupied, more empty seats than occupied, by far. This was on a recent Sunday at around 1PM. The drinks were good, service was slow and the food was horrible. I ordered chicken sausage gravy & biscuits… There wasn’t even one piece of sausage, the biscuits were basically swimming in barely seasoned milk. I tried one of my friend’s wings from her chicken & French toast. Horrible. I’m sorry, but this was not a good experience for me.

Google
This was a nice quaint brunch spot. There was live music, inside and outside eating. It's a bit small on the inside, but outside seating is plentiful. The food was good, but I didn't care for the sausage patty I had. That's the only reason for the 4-star.

Google
The atmosphere and the ladies/men here are a 10/10. I ordered the catfish and grits. I added some hot sauce and pork bacon to it. The grits were salty. And a got a waffle on the side. The waffle was a little doughy but it was a 3.5/5 on taste. Would I come back …maybe not but it’s so good!

Google
6pm on Saturday. The bar was only seating two tables, yet there was little to no service. Ordered the $17 chicken and waffle. The waffle came thin, raw, and sour. The chicken was small, dry, overcooked, and caked in seasoning. The only good thing was the music they were playing.

Google
Positive: The live music during Sunday Brunch was beautifully done and soulful. Friend stated grits were good and Jerk shrimp flavored well. Cons: Our reservation in the "Living room" was not honored and we were on time. Table given away/taken by customers that chose to move. We settled for a table outside (the heat was a beast today). My food was subpar. Waffle good flavor but greasy, wings not cooked properly it seemed the grease may have been too hot.

Google
We had our monthly brunch here food was good, service was good, establishment was nice. We sat outside and the two negatives would be the flies and the heat. We had to constantly fan flies away while eating. Flies flew into our mimosa glasses. We had to pour out alcohol. SMH It's hot in Houston so we were expecting some heat but it was unbearable on yesterday. Not the restaurant fault but maybe they can invest in some portable air

Yelp
Wow. Black owned bar off spring street! Love the drinks and vibes in here This use to be "Spring Street Bar," and it was a vibe. Still dog friendly, and the drinks are delicious. I had the French Lemonade and it did not disappoint. Will be returning to this newly revived and renovated space

Larisa M.

Yelp
Worst place ever They charge $10 for parking but they give you plastic forks ‍ They brought our coffee when we were almost done with our breakfast... just such bad service. At least provide real silverware.

Brittany C.

Yelp
Where do I begin?? I'll start with the positives. Super cute spot with much potential and a good French Lemonade cocktail. The rest of the experience was awful. The service was terrible and the food was worse. Their grits are instant grits-the yellow grits that come in the little envelope you tear open and add milk or water too-yeah those. They have sweet tea and lemonade on the non-alcoholic beverage menu but they didn't have any to serve. One of the ladies in our party was pregnant and just had to have water because they don't serve sweet tea although it's on the menu. I believe these issues could be fixed with good management which this establishment clearly lacks. I hope they get it together. I want to support but it was not good. I won't be back anytime soon. Save your time and money. Sunday Funday was almost ruined here but ended up going to a second place that was great and it ended up being a great day. Oh and I failed to mention we waited about 2 hours for our food and they only have plastic dishes and utensils. Never again!

Mallory W.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast after an early flight. It was me and literally one other person in. I ordered the French toast and cheese grits. Food was very very mid. On use plastic wear and plastic utensils. I don't know for the amount of money you pay plastic plates just don't do it for me. Service was decent and the drink was stiff but I don't ever have to come back.

Yelp
Dang, I want to try this place but the amount of negative remarks is hindering me from visiting. I think I'll pass by. Thanks to everyone who posted positive honest feedback. Yelp
This is my fourth time here since this place is open and it never disappoints. The food is always warm filled with flavor and the service is wonderful. Gia was our server today and she was immaculate. Just a sweetheart, kind, thorough and professional. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of this establishment and he was a very nice person with a wonderful vision for this restaurant. The games the music the vibe is just all around and awesome place to hang out with great food. If you are questioning yourself please support the breakfast bar of htx. You won't regret it.

Yelp
A few of my girls and I came for Sunday brunch and enjoyed ourselves. We met the owner which a son and father duo and they were very friendly and accommodating. At first, I couldn't find the location because another sign is listed out front but eventually I figured it out. I opted for parking on the street but there was a small parking lot attached to the establishment. At the time of arrival, parking was free but as we were leaving there was a sign indicating that there was a fee for parking. The establishment is a cute place for ladies brunch, couples brunch or solo. There was a live singer there and we opted to sit outside. I must say that I love how the owners made the space work for them. The waiter was attentive, the drinks were really good and the food was good as well. I would definitely return. The owner did state that they are still working on building out the establishment as their hopes are to add a full kitchen (right now food is cooked in a food truck), replace the sign out front and more!

Kathryn B.

Yelp
Wow! The chicken was so flavorful and cooked perfectly! I hate dry wings and these didn't disappoint! Waffle tasted great and good came out relatively quickly! Service was so kind and nice and easy going! There was live music and the patio has so much seating to accommodate all size groups. They have morning and evening happy hours! I recommend for soul food!

Alexandria B.

Yelp
Ok now let me just start off by saying this is a BAR with food as opposed to a restaurant. If you go with that in mind, you'll be hella pleased. But if you go in there expecting a five star restaurant experience, you may be left with some questions or complaints. Let me explain... I don't believe the building has a kitchen. Food is cooked in a trailer/ food truck looking thing outside and brought indoors to patrons. I was shocked to see that food was served on disposable plates with no type of garnishes or anything. The food is good so if you're drinking and hanging with friends, you probably won't care about what dish your food is served on. I just want to make sure you know what to expect. I ordered catfish and grits but the man next to me ordered wings and they looked AMAZING! I would totally come back and order those. Food took a little longer to come out than I expected but they were playing great music and the vibe was nice so waiting wasn't really a huge deal. I saw on the menu that they have bottle service so that's pretty interesting. Idk if I'd be willing to pay hundreds on a bottle here but I got a feeling that once the sun comes out for spring/summer people might be turning up here for sure. The bartenders who were on shift when I visited were pretty ladies with great personalities so if you're dining alone like I was, go sit at the bar and enjoy a drink and a meal. You're not likely to be disappointed.

Jasmine K.

Yelp
I love this spot! The food is amazing! Our server was polite and quick. She kept us up to date with the status of our order without us asking. The vibe in the place was super relaxing. I saw people playing uno & jenga on the patio. Not to mention it's kid friendly.

Reginald T.

Yelp
Wonderful brunch spot with great music and service. Everyone should do brunch here. The scenery is amazing and food is great.

Ellen H.

Yelp
First off service is terrible and they barely have customers so why is it taking so long to receive your order. Then when your food comes out it's served on funeral plates. I honestly could've made this food at home and better. Will not be returning.

Jenni T.

Yelp
Went here for the first time for brunch and had the worst experience. Not only does the picture on Google didn't match the inside of this place, we were served with plastic plates and togo plastic fork and knives in a bag. And then there is auto gratuity for 30% three people? ? Please explain the audacity lol I should have eaten at home

Jacqueline W.

Yelp
Yes I would recommend this place 100%. It was a great vibe. Good food and atmosphere. Great service. Loved the music.

Darnita S.

Yelp
The food was amazing but the service lacked to say the least. We visited here on a Sunday after the majority of the brunch crowd was already gone. It took some time for the waitress to acknowledge us and when she did we made drinks and food orders. Our drinks came within about 10-15 minutes however it took over an hour to get our food. We were told MULTIPLE times that our food was coming shortly only to wait even longer for no food. Rinse, wash and repeat. Our food finally came and we were told that our food was mistakenly given to someone else and thus created our ridiculous wait. The manager comped our meal but we won't be back.

Nicole D.

Yelp
Loved this spot. It's a fun environment and the food is fantastic! Our group enjoyed a variety of breakfast plates and dishes, they got quiet so ya know everything was good. LoL We had French toast, chicken and waffles, gumbo, and the deep fried lobster...everything was fantastic with good seasoning and huge portions! Music. Ambiance. Vibes. The service was great and everyone was very friendly . We'll def be back.

Regan A.

Yelp
I attended a women's brunch event on a Saturday afternoon. The food was pretty good. The service was also decent. What I did notice is they kept running out of items for drinks and taking a long time to get orders in abd forgetting things. The servers were nice, but it wasn't efficient. I can also probably understand why. This restaurant isn't a fully functional restaurant. There's a building with a bar and patio seating. The "kitchen" is a food truck. I think it's a cool idea but I'm sure that's a lot of work trying to get food out to a lot of people with a food truck. We did have to wait a bit for everything. We were among good company and they had a live band on the patio so that alone was cool. I will probably come back and give them another shot.

Kairo J.

Yelp
We made reservations and weren't seated for over an hour and a half. We were continuously pushed back which was was strange as people came in after us but were still seated before us. After finally being seated many different items were out of stock which was unfortunate. We couldn't even order mimosas because they ran out of a champagne. Again a brunch spot ran out of champagne. Anyway the manager did give us all 25% off our final tab which did help. Food was good and might return as it might have just been a bad day. Restaurant was very clean overall though.

Theresa M.

Yelp
Absolutely unimpressed. Food took over an hour for scrambled eggs and a sausage patty. They were out of the hash because "they just didn't prep." Food comes on disposable plates and with plastic cutlery. Service was slow and didn't bother to ask us if we'd like another drink... given the time we were waiting, we would've loved one. The one positive is that people dress to impress here.

Steve N.

Yelp
This was the absolute worst dining experience I have had. We waited an hour and 40 minutes before canceling our food and leaving to go somewhere that actually served food. When we arrived, we were told that they were out of literally half the menu. So the only thing they had was catfish and grits. Apparently they must have left to go to Louisiana to get some catfish because an hour and 40 minutes we still hadn't received our food. It took a person in our party 30 minutes to get a coke. The coffee was served without cream or a stirrer and the coffee was full of coffee grounds. Not only did they charge us for the coffee but then added gratuity. At least that person got their drink another person in our party never even received their drink. This place is an absolute disgrace. Do NOT I repeat do NOT waste your time here. I'll be happy to see this place close and hopefully another more competent place open up in it's place as the location and atmosphere could potentially be enjoyable. Stay away from this DUMP!!!!

Talicia R.

Yelp
So I'm from Los Angeles, home of Roscoe's and Dulans, Southern Girl Desserts and Johnnie's Pastrami's so you KNOW I likes good eatin'... I recently visited family in Houston and we decided on a whim on Sunday LATE morning that we wanted to brunch. I know... fools we were... cause in Houston, brunching in a bloodsport. If you not up and ready to go at 7am, prepare to wait 2 hours in line, passing out from hunger before you even get a seat. So what's a hungry out of town family to do??? That's when I turned to the A.I. wizard on Yelp to do its thing. And BOY did yelp deliver!!!!!! Enter THE BREAKFAST BAR!! Only a few reviews since they just opened. But the reviews were epic, so we took a chance. Boy were we glad we did!!! OMG! First of all, this is the CUTEST place!!! It's a cool hang spot if you're a young and sexy and want to be seen. (We old farts so we didn't really care). But they have an inside, outside benches with tvs for the football games. Plus REAL games. Like life size Jenga and card and board games. It is actually a bar that serves breakfast. And the breakfast was FIRE... Now, it's not easy to compete with Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles so I had the Lobster and Waffles. Let me tell you, one bite and I thought the savior had come to call me home. After I came down from floating up to the ceiling, I tried the jerk shrimp and grits. I swear, I could hear Angels singing my name. They had delicious cocktails like the Purple Rain, and MIMOSA TOWERS! Since we were with children, we didn't fully partake, but next time we go to Houston, we are definitely leaving the kids back at the hotel and coming back. Now, for the "not so great"... we waited a long time for our food. Which we would not have minded if we didn't have hungry impatient out of control children. But our waitress was lovely. She kept coming back to entertain the kids and give us updates. Turned out, they had an operation problem in their kitchen that needed fixing. Once that was done, the food came out quickly. Now why would I give them 5 stars considering that? BECAUSE THATS HOW GOOD THE FOOD WAS!!! I was literally eating the fry batter off the lobster shell, it was THAT GOOD. Anyhoo, they are new, so there might be that issue. But if you go with the intention of hanging out, you'll enjoy their delicious drinks and the wait won't matter. And kudos to the owner for apologizing and being truthful about the delay. A young good looking brotha!! TL:DR Food is fire. Ambiance is great. And employees are great. Go see them, cause this is a great spot with folks you'll love to support.

Kiya H.

Yelp
My friend and I walked in on a Saturday afternoon and sat at the bar unsure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised at how much fun we had! The food was phenomenal. Fish and grits was the bomb! Good vibes. Good service from Penny. The live music was great. We will definitely back!

Caroline S.

Yelp
Celebrated my birthday over brunch with friends. I had a reservation so there was no wait at all. Once we were seated, our server named Ari gave a nice welcome and immediately took our drink orders. I ordered a Purple Rain cocktail, and it was good. Perfect balance amount of vodka, for my liking. For main entree, I ordered fried catfish and grits. It was Delicious!! We had a little delay with one of our friend's food order but aside from that, it was a good experience overall. BTW, Parking was a little confusing. They have a small parking lot beside the restaurant but it was already full so we had to park around the corner on the street. No valet service.

Kitta N.

Yelp
The breakfast bar was good . Our server was amazing! The ambiance was great!! I would've given 5 stars but it takes about 1 to 2 hours to get your food once you place your order. Which is insane. I would say it's worth the wait but nothing is worth a wait like that. That is my only complaint which I feel would stop me from revisiting. Please do what you can to improve the turnaround time for orders. Again, the live music was everything!!!

Scott W.

Yelp
Servers/hostesses were very slow and the owner is having to do their job for them (servers aren't really friendly either). Food was good but it took me 20 minutes to pick up a to go order that I placed on the phone (I arrived to pick it up at the time the person on the phone told me to). They also charged me an automatic gratuity on a to go order for only two people. Ambiance was good but I ended up paying $40 for a to go breakfast for two people with no drinks.

Erica W.

Yelp
This was my first visit. I understand and love the concept. Patio brunch in Houston during the summer is a vibe! I personally probably won't be back though. We were there during the live music hours and the band was just way too loud. The band was excellent but it would be great if they could turn down the volume. Don't choose the deck if you think the loud band will bother you. The flies were terrible! The staff was very friendly & helpful. Very lowkey ambiance. I had the appetizer chicken wings & waffle. The food was good and fresh.

Erika N.

Yelp
The food was mediocre. The service was okay. It was raining outside and only a few customers were there at the time. However, it took over an hour for us to be served. We ordered the jerk shrimp and grits with side eggs, Lobster n French toast, chicken and French toast. The shrimp had a good taste. However the grits and eggs were not that good. My son had the chicken and said it was okay but there was still some pink inside a few of his wings. The ambience is nice. The staff is friendly.

Miguel P.

Yelp
Awesome vibe & atmosphere, loved how they welcomed me with my pup before I even knew it was a food spot. Kitchen was closed when I'm with but def will check them out it smelled good for the most part

David H.

Yelp
Overall the place is "mid" at best. Catfish and waffle by themselves were the best items. Grits taste like dressed up instant grits. Atmosphere and location are good, which leads you to believe it is a good pick. Service and other food is minimum effort. Eggs were cold, pork sausage bland, breakfast potatoes taste like good frozen potatoes. The place has young employees that are not customer focused. One employee was even at the bar talking about how she basically blew off a customer that asked for a manager. Automatic 20% tip added without giving you a detailed receipt unless asked. They just give you the total on their device for you to input your card. No way of knowing if they charged you correctly. They then add an additional tip option on the screen which is misleading if you don't realize there was already a 20% tip added (which they didn't deserve). I likely won't return. The owners should realize they have heavy competition. This place has potential, but not likely to last more than 2 years if they don't tighten up some things.

Ashley B.

Yelp
Unfortunately, I was very upset initially. We had a reservation and were seated upon arrival. After being seated was told our waitress would be with us. The place wasn't packed at all for a Sunday, so we didn't understand why no one stopped to even bring water to our table for 30 minutes. After being patient someone finally came to attend to us. We ordered our food mind you it was only 3 of us. It took an hour for our food to come out. We then found out the food was being prepared on a food truck. The kitchen will always be backed up bc it's not big enough to meet the demand of customers! I gave 3 stars bc the food itself was pretty good, and the live music was nice as well!

David S.

Yelp
Where to start? First off, we showed up around noon on a Sunday and were told we'd have to sit at the bar since we didn't have a reservation and they "had so many reservations." The place was pretty much empty, both inside and out. Second thing. What kind of breakfast place doesn't have the ingredients to make a Bloody Mary? It's brunch, and Bloody Mary's has been the go to brunch drink long before mimosas made the scene. Since they didn't seem to even know what a Bloody Mary is, I asked for a cup of coffee instead. Now I could see two large coffee pump carafes and the big coffee maker on the counter, but somehow a simple cup of coffee flummoxed everyone behind the bar and it took three people (no exaggeration) to figure out how to use the espresso machine and make me an americano instead of just pouring me a cup of coffee. At this point it seemed like none of the staff had worked there more than a week and had received no training whatsoever. The food arrived promptly. My daughter had the chicken and waffles and I had the biscuits and gravy. I'll start with the good. The wings on the waffle looked tasty and well seasoned. The scrambled eggs I ordered with my biscuits and gravy were cooked to a perfect soft scramble. Now the not so good. First, the food was served on cheap plastic plates. Second, we were never given any silverware or a napkin of there than the cocktail napkins with our drinks. After a minute of waiting while the 5 people behind the bar ignored us, I finally had to ask for some silverware and for some syrup for the waffle which should have come out with it. We got the little condiment squeeze bottle of syrup and two packs of cheap to-go silverware which was a good thing since there was no salt or pepper on the bar so I used the ten year old packet of Sysco pepper for my eggs. The biscuits were good, except that the bottom half the biscuit was a little hard from over cooking, and I couldn't cut it with the CHEAPASS plastic fork and knife. Also, I think had I had a real fork and knife , I would have accidentally broken the equally cheap plate. The gravy was awful. I don't know what kind of hot take on souther gravy this was supposed to be, but they seemed to make up for the lack of sausage with a heap of salt. It yeasts like it was seasoned with a chicken ramen seasoning pack. There didn't appear to be any butter on the waffle. After this horrible food and laughable service, they have the BALLS to add 20% gratuity onto the bill. I understand when restaurants do that for large parties, but this was just two of us. Normally, even with the subpar food and service, I'd still tip, but adding 20% right off the top is shady AF, and nothing about that experience warrants more than 20%. I hope the staff actually gets that and it's not going in the owner's pocket. The decor, music and ambiance were nice and even though it took three clearly confused employees who seriously need training on operating that espresso machine before they hurt someone, that americano they made was good. I may be wrong, but the place has the same vibe and lack of professionalism as Taste Bar & Kitchen. I don't know if this was a soft opening or something, but the entire establishment has a lot to learn if they want to keep the doors open and get repeat customers.

Jenna P.

Yelp
We ordered the savory grits, a breakfast platter with a side of gravy for the biscuits. Every single item had so much flavor. Cute ambiance with a relaxing-chill vibe. There was a band that was about to start as we were leaving from our Sunday brunch. Definitely check it out. Hope to be back soon!

Anthony K.

Yelp
Service and food was great. Tried the chicken & French toast along with the fish & grits.

Shaadiya B.

Yelp
I love this bar! It's hot and new for a reason! The vibes and food are amazing! Friendly staff and great atmosphere. During brunch they had a saxophonist and once night fell they switched gears and brought in a dj and it was LIT and it was up from there lol! This will definitely be my new spot. If you haven't been yet GO because you won't regret it!

Yelp
Short version: I ordered french toast and catfish. I got my french toast at 1:30pm and did not get my catfish until we were checking out at 2:30pm. I asked for a refund on something because of the atrocious wait time for my items (that should have arrived together) and they instead took my food (from my to-go box, after I'd clearly stated I wanted it) and threw it away and told me "we took care of it." Full version: I had the absolute WORST experience here. My party of 4 visited on a Sunday afternoon and chose patio seating. The first red flag was ordering drinks and realizing 1 of the 3 was made differently and another came in a completely different glass. The second red flag was watching the staff bring food (completely uncovered and exposed) from a food truck sectioned off to the side of the building. 2 people in my party ordered right away and 2 people asked for more time. The waitress didn't return for nearly 30 minutes to take the final 2 orders. So, of course, the 2 who ordered first got their food (after a 60 minute wait). The presentation was laughable. 1 person ordered a breakfast sandwich that looked like something they could make at home in 10 minutes and at a much higher quality. It started to rain and the waitress mentioned bringing us an umbrella for the table or finding our party a new seat--neither of which happened. We were left to get rained on and were completely disregarded the entire time. Thankfully, our table neighbors were nice enough to let us sit a bit closer to them to get under the patio covering (that doesn't cover the full patio, mind you, so we were still getting rained on). My french toast arrives (after another 40-60 minute wait) and my friends grits arrive as well. We both had additional food items that were nowhere to be found despite being ordered together as ONE meal. While we're patiently waiting on the other part of our meals, another friend orders a hookah--which takes 30 minutes to arrive. Then, they bring the hookah as it's raining (and we're clearly not in an covered area, so, does that make any logical sense to you???) My friend tells them we're no longer interested because -- hello -- it's raining. Finally, we're beginning to check out (because we don't want to sit around and get rained on) and I STILL don't have the catfish I ordered WITH my french toast. Why they would bring my french toast out an hour before my catfish is unbeknownst to me. As I'm paying my bill at 230pm, my catfish arrives. I ask for them to refund SOMETHING from my ticket seeing as I didn't get to eat my food together (or at all bc I did not touch the french toast) AND my items arrived an hour apart from one another. A random waitress takes my food, although I tell her I WANT MY FOOD, and says she'll have it remade within the next 10 minutes or get me a refund. Now, we're inside, waiting for a resolution and the "manager" Debra, (who has walked past my party multiple times with no acknowledgment of what's going on) finally comes up to me and says, "I took care of it." So, I ask where my food is (because I never told them I didn't want it, I told them I wanted to be accommodated for my two items arriving almost an hour apart when they were ordered together) and she says she THREW IT AWAY. So, not only did I starve for almost 2 and half hours, you also threw my food away instead of COMMUNICATING and simply taking accountability for your slow, trash service. So, at this point, I ask for a receipt showing the food has been removed from my ticket and after another 20 minutes of waiting, she brings a receipt saying she's only charging for gratuity. It's truly the audacity for me. NONE OF YOU DESERVE GRATUITY! I will never be back and will be sure to discourage anyone I know from visiting this place as well. None of my party was satisfied with their meals, the food and food presentation was mediocre (according to my friends who got to eat) and it was overpriced.

Yelp
If I could give the food zero stars I would. The only reason we didn't send the food back and leave is because I wanted to support a local black business but the pictures on social media is not close to what we received. We had the breakfast sandwich and chicken and French toast and they were underwhelming. The chicken had a strange seasoning and the sandwich looked like something my 14 year old son would make at home. The French toast was also a bit elementaryI was hungry and needed to eat so I ate it. Our waitress was really nice but won't be going back.

Yelp
The live music was nice . The service and the food was absolutely horrible . my food was under Cooked , the rest of my friends complained of their food also. The service was the worst . They never came back to refill our water , our water waitress had an attitude and we had to call on her several times to finish out our tab. Never again !!!!!! I've never even written a review in my life , but I had to this time

Yelp
This place was a disappointment. I got there around 1:15pm with a group reservation. I was able to get free street parking. Valet was available for $10. So glad I didn't pay for parking. Upon arrival I had to urgently use the ladies room. There were 2 unisex, single restrooms. The one available to me was gross and NO toilet paper or paper towel!!! Once we were seated OUTSIDE (not by choice) the zydeco band played loudly making it difficult to fellowship. Our server (Nina) was nice enough and the 1 drink that me and the flies consumed was a 8/10 but the heat and the FLIES!!! Especially THE FLIES were enough for me to pay for my 1 drink and opt out of waiting any longer for shrimp and grits. We were waiting approx two hours for food by the time I opted out of our group brunch and decide to go home to Pearland and cook. I was charged 20% on my drink. I was too irritated to fight about it. Do not get dressed up whether you sit inside or outside. It was not a vibe unfortunately.

Yelp
As a black owned establishment I came to this establishment I came here expecting a great experience with friends for a birthday brunch. We waited over an hour for our food to come out just for them to say they didn't have the fish that was supposed to come with the waffles. I am very displeased with this experience here highly do not recommend. Waffles were under cooked and chicken wasn't good. The music and drinks were the only good part about this experience.

Yelp
Went here yesterday evening with my cousins from out of town. We truly enjoyed the atmosphere, the food, the service and the music. I will be going back...

Yelp
This is a new place that just opened yesterday and I am here to say it is by far one of my favorite spots now in Houston Texas. The food is amazing, the service is great and when you enter it feels like everyone belongs. Very clean also. The staff makes one feel like you are the only person in the bar meaning; they take special time to get to know you and they don't forget what you drink. The '"greens" were a personal favorite of mine; however, hands down those wings have me craving for more. I haven't tried everything on the menu, but I intend to. Some of the best food in Houston! This place is a must ! You won't be disappointed with your experience!

Yelp
Our brunch order took 1 hour and 47 minutes to receive, after placing the order. We had a group of 3. One of us ordered catfish strips (qty 3, 6 inch strips) and grits, one ordered chicken and waffles with a side of breakfast potatoes, and the other ordered chicken and French toast with a side of breakfast potatoes. At one point, we considered leaving, but the server kept telling us our food was on the way. There were 7 tables, total, with guests, in the entire restaurant...in other words, it wasn't busy at all. When the food finally arrived, the waffle was baked so hard, you could not even cut it with a knife and it was cold. The server brought a new waffle, after complaining. The server then said, the waffles are often burned and she has complained. The chicken wings were so small that we would've ordered an additional side, had we known. They were 1/2 the size of a normal wing. The wings were also burned. The catfish was partially fried, with no seasoning. Our food was served on plastic/disposable plates with plastic utensils that had a gritty/sand paper texture on them. Our tickets included 20% gratuity...for what? I'm still trying to figure that out. On the scale of 1-10, this restaurant gets a -5. I was incredibly disappointed.

Yelp
Good food, quick service, and our server "Naitoh" took care of all of our needs. Worth checking out and I hope the business thrives.
