The Best Restaurants to Try in Carmel Valley | Eater San Diego

"This Carmel Valley outpost from Rise and Shine Hospitality Group serves up sunniness with its eggs and French toast. The breakfast blend coffee, fondly called Cocky Coffee, comes from a gargantuan coffee contraption tethered to a column in the room. The DOC prosecco that fuels the fizzy drinks comes directly from an Italian vineyard partnered with the restaurant group. Customer favorites include Mr. Presley, a peanut-butter-stuffed French toast with bananas foster and bacon." - Helen I. Hwang

Breakfast Republic Opens Brunch Restaurant in Scripps Ranch | Eater San Diego

"There's no stopping the swift rise of Breakfast Republic: its 13th Southern California location opens in Scripps Ranch on March 1, replacing the chicken-sandwich spot My Chick in the Trader Joe’s shopping center. The new 2,101-square-foot restaurant includes a 500-square-foot patio, and after a pandemic slowdown founder Johan Engman is poised to roll out a handful of new restaurants quickly — including a paired Breakfast Republic/Eggies spot in downtown La Jolla in mid-April, future openings in Culver City and Long Beach later this summer and fall, and multiple Mission Valley outlets (including the Camino de la Reina branch) that will give him three daytime-oriented restaurants in that area. Engman says he has several more locations currently in the works." - Candice Woo

San Diego Brunch Restaurant Breakfast Republic Opening in Scripps Ranch While Breakfast Company Heads to Mission Valley | Eater San Diego

"I note a 2,100-square-foot Breakfast Republic with a patio is coming to the Scripps Ranch Shopping Center early next year as part of Rise & Shine Hospitality Group’s push to dominate San Diego’s daytime brunch scene; the opening will further expand owner Johan Engman’s Breakfast Republic chain toward 14 Southern California outposts." - Candice Woo

We were driving through San Diego and were looking for a good spot to have a quick breakfast. We did a Google search and found Breakfast Republic amongst other breakfast spots. We decided to stop by and try it. From the moment we were greeted till the end service was great. Our waitress, Ashley, was great, she made us feel welcome, and also offered other food suggestions for the picked eaters. We loved the peanut butter stuffed French toast,a must try. Definitely will recommend to fiends and family and we will stop by next time we are driving through. Thank you

First time stopping in! For a Thursday morning, it was still pretty busy!! But we were sat quickly....I understand Sundays it's jam packed, and parking is difficult. Our server, Ashley, was friendly..attentive...and bubbly! 😊 Food came fairly fast, and portions were hearty! The food was pretty good, and plated beautifully. The coffee cup gave me a good laugh!😆

My food was good here.. nothing was bad. However, everything was just *different*. The ketchup wasn't bad, it was just *different*. The jam that came for the bread was also *different*. I suspect that some of you will like the differences, and some of you will not. So it's hard to say who will and who won't like this place. I will say the quality of everything seemed to be top notch, and the service was excellent as well. My Bloody Mary was VERY good. and my BIL did say it was the best eggs benedict he's ever had. They've got some outside seating, so if weather permits, the patio is a great option.

My absolute favorite breakfast spot in San Diego! Incredible food, friendly and helpful staff, great environment and hilarious marketing! Very friendly for Plant-Based eaters and non. If you are in this area, this will be your new favorite breakfast spot!

I had a wonderful breakfast at Breakfast Republic in Mira Mesa and my server, Monserrat, was absolutely terrific! Everything was delicious, every single staff member seemed super happy to be there, and I would absolutely come back.

Before heading out to catch our plane back home, we decided on breakfast at Breakfast Republic in the Scripps Ranch (Mira Mesa) area of San Diego. They actually have quite a few other locations in California. We decided on Breakfast Republic because they had quite a few vegan options, which we always appreciate ... and they all sounded rather interesting. Honestly, I don't think there could possibly have been a bad choice, so it was a matter of making the best choice .. for us. Sandi opted for the Tres Leches Pancakes because well, she's a pancakes kinda gal :). I was torn between their Vegan Breakfast Burrito with beef strips, plant based eggs, fakon, vegan cheddar, cashew cream and more .... or the Veggie Pesto Frittata, an open face omelet with various veggies and greens, plant based eggs, sweet'n'sour tomato jam and more ... and ultimately opted for the former. In addition, Sandi pointed out they had vegan Bloody Mary options available 🤗 woot woot, that's my favorite adult beverage! I opted for the tequila version instead of the vodka version, if only because every version I've had previously was with vodka so I preferred to try something different. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious, the vegan sweet buttercream really helping to elevate the dish! The Vegan Burrito was a monster!! Thank goodness Sandi was able to help me with this because there's zero chance I was finishing this on my own and I preferred not to carry food with me into the airport if I could help it. The burrito itself is huge, cut into two separate equal halves, on top of which you also have the black beans, mexican rice and, salsa - wow, just wow!! Their Bloody Mary was no less impressive, delicious with just the right amount of kick, a huge piece of celery, a gherkin pickle, and olives. If you're lucky enough to be visiting California and have a Breakfast Republic near you, they're definitely worth the visit. Be sure to bring a full appetite and a friend to help as well :)

When we first got there, we added our name to the wait-list because they don't accept reservations. Then watched multiple parties the same size as ours arrive after us and get seated at tables that were open when we arrived. After 25 minutes of waiting, we were seated and ordered drinks. The lattes are apparently equal parts whipped cream and latte, despite the menu not mentioning the whipped cream. It was okay, but not worth the high price. Then we ordered food. I ordered the steak and eggs with my steak medium rare and my eggs over easy. I had to go to the host stand to get silverware and napkins, because they were never brought to us at any point. The steak (which had never seen any seasoning before) was mostly well done, with a small section of gristle that was rare. Seems like their griddle has some hot and cold spots. Two of the three eggs were properly cooked, but when I cut into the third one, completely raw, clear egg white poured out. Overall, it was not a pleasant breakfast. They did play good music though. Also, my wife's water glass smelled like rotten egg and had a film floating on top of the water, so seems like they need to do a better job cleaning dishes.

Google
Our first time in Breakfast Republic. We enjoyed it. Most especially because of the friendly, prompt and professional service of our waiter Alberto aka Beto. I think that every restaurant should have people like that to serving them as they would have an exceptional dining experience!!! Yogurt bowl was fresh. Omelette is as ok. Could have had more cheese and not so dry. Potatoes were top notch. Coffee. A-1!

Yelp
We had a late breakfast here and Albert served us who is an amazing old soul young man. If I owned a small biz I would hire this guy so fast and promote him. Hoping his bosses and owners know what a great asset they have in him. He made our visit quite delightful. Very helpful but not over bearing. I love this "kid". Said from an old lady. Cheers and thank you!

Yelp
This place, for me, always has 5 stars regardless of which location I go to. They are consistent in flavor profile and plating. The service is always kind and friendly. Always clean and with upbeat music. Absolutely one of the top 5 breakfast spots in San Diego. I can't leave this review without giving a shoutout to the people who make it an amazing experience. Andre served me from the bar. Great guy and great coffee maker! My latte was delicious. I wanna give a special shoutout to Isabela. She was the first person I met as the hostess and she definitely made an impression on ne with it being my first time at this location. She stopped what she was doing to find me a seat at the bar..a lot of hosts won't do that. She put the customer first. I also saw her actively helping wherever else she was needed as the restaurant was busy. She was always happy and smiling. The general manager Gilda even stopped to tell me she appreciated my business and kind words. This place doesn't just have good food it also has amazing energy!

Yelp
I arrived at 7:30am, knowing my cousin would arrive by 8am. After sitting in the vehicle for an hour, working on some things in the parking lot- it was time to utilize the restroom and grab a table. I approached staff behind the counter after entering& asked if I needed to be seated first, on a weekday morning. After using the restroom, I picked my table inside- even though it was a gorgeous autumn morning- and could've snagged a table at the covered patio. I explained to our server the birthday girl would arrive in 30 minutes and if it was okay til then, to sit and enjoy my cup of coffee. During that 30 minute wait, I worked on more things at the table, and never felt bothered by staff. An occasional checking in on my coffee cup. Thank you for giving my space. :) Cousin arrived and our server, (wish I knew her name) was bubbly, Latina, and I complimented on her beautiful accent. All three of us would chat away, placing our order, laughing about life. I typically gravitate towards shrimp & grits if I see it on the menu, and noticed jambalaya. But, the Power Bowl sounded good too! Didn't seem too heavy early in the morning . When asked how I'd like my skirt steak, medium well- I realized it was well done. The steak is pre cut and served atop golden tumeric cauliflower rice w/ toasted almonds; three eggs any style (over medium); avocado & pickled onions. I was fasting for 16 hours and was just hungry. The skirt steak, not being cooked how I preferred- was tough. I decided not to finish every piece of that tough skirt steak & took the rest home for my bulldog to enjoy. I mean, why let it go to waste? I need to get into the habit of just notifying staff, at that specific moment about a discrepancy in my order. (Still working on being this way). My birthday girl ordered the Pineapple Upside Down pancakes, which sounded delicious. But, when the plate arrived, we were both bummed about the pineapple chunks on top of the pancake stack. When you read/ hear pineapple UPSIDE down cake, you'd automatically think it'd be served as expected. Which would've been cute to see in pancake form! The pineapple ring in the middle of the pancake batter! Our server surprised my cousin w/ coffee cake for her birthday! How cute was that?! Her coffee cake had a side of whipped cream and caramel drizzle! We both thanked her for her unexpected gesture.

Yelp
Wanted to take the family to breakfast Sunday morning. We have a lot of options nearby, but chose breakfast Republic because we haven't been in a while. We got our seat and looked at the menu. It was 8:25 hey I'm on a Sunday morning so there were people, but it had not got crowded yet. We were all ready to order. We then waited eight long minutes... No one stopped and took our drink order. No one stopped by and said I'll be with you in a minute. We are paying more for the food... Which means we're paying more for the tip... And I'm not going to pay 15 to 18% to somebody who can't even do their basic job. A few minutes is fine... When that happens, we usually say we're all ready to order. But eight minutes without even coming up and taking a drink or eight minutes without saying I'll be with you in a minute... Unacceptable especially when we're paying close to $10 for tip

Yelp
I stopped by this Breakfast Republic location for brunch on Sunday. My mistake was underestimating how crowded that parking lot would be at peak hours. Parking was an intense task since this place shares parking with Trader Joe's, so be prepared for a few laps around the lot. I would suggest carpooling with your party to save some time and space. There are no reservations at this place, only walk-ins. It's first-come come first-served, depending on the availability of seating. My friend and I struck gold and were seated pretty much immediately during my most recent visit. FOOD: Whenever I am at a breakfast/brunch place, best believe I will be ordering an eggs benedict. Portions here were generous, and I walked away with leftovers. Mushroom 'n' Pesto Benedict (3.75/5) - I love mushrooms, and I love eggs benedicts, so of course I decided to order this. The menu claimed that it would contain both button and oyster mushrooms, but I only had button mushrooms on mine. I followed the recommendation to add the asiago chicken fennel sausage for an extra fee, but I hindsight, I thought that was unnecessary. Eggs were nicely poached, but the spinach, mushroom, and red pepper medley was a tad bland. Potatoes were crispy and a little dry, but nothing a bit of ketchup and hot sauce can't fix. Jurassic Pork Benedict (4/5) - Got this because I was curious about "jurassic pork bacon." I am personally not the biggest fan of bacon, but I enjoyed this. It deviates from traditional bacon in the sense that it is marinated in brown sugar. It might sound a little odd, but it really works! I do think I preferred this to the mushroom 'n' pesto benedict since the flavors were stronger. SERVICE: (4/5) I've been to this Breakfast Republic location twice. During the first visit, it was super hectic and crowded, but our waitress was super attentive and sweet. During my second visit, I was a bit let down, even though it wasn't as crowded. While the food was brought out quickly, it took a while for us to receive any utensils to eat with. I think that was an anomaly that happened to fall through a small crack in their usually solid service. No biggie! TLDR// Solid place to get breakfast/brunch with friends (or by yourself)! Parking for this location is difficult but doable. I am willing to come back again, especially to try more of their different eggs benedict options or other local favorites like the chilaquiles or the breakfast burritos.

Yelp
7/30/2025 - I ordered 2 items to go. Crab Benedict and a breakfast sandwich. Came out lovely in time. In a bag as well. They forgot the utensils for the small potatoes which was a drag. Large bread with 2 eggs in side. Next time will ask for the back to be crispy. Little fat in it still and hrs to chew. See photos.

Yelp
I don't do breakfast often, but Thursday morning was a treat after all my errands. We ordered the American breakfast and we asked for our English muffin to be crispy and toasty. Our server said that's the way she likes it. But we were disappointed to find it barely toasted. However, the bacon was crispy as requested but my potatoes were not crispy or hot. It's like they were sitting out for a while. Over easy eggs were perfect. Cafe de Olla was delicious and the server did come by for a refill.
google avatar

Josephine G.

Yelp
Love this place. I love their crab and crawfish Benedict and their cali breakfast burrito. Our server, Enid, was all smiles all the time. She's very nice and our orders came on time. I tried the iced ube drink with coffee and that one was ok. Tip: get here early cuz it got busy around 9 am on a Sunday. Also, they have their own brand of ketchup but be careful cuz it's a bit watery.
google avatar

Ann P.

Yelp
Service and food were great, willing to come back again. Sizes are very good meaning you can share unless you feel like a piglet. Plenty of parking and food options. I had the pineapple upside down pancakes and the Mac and cheese breakfast plate
google avatar

Yelp
First and foremost, the star of the show is their amazing House made mixed berry jam! BlackBerry, Raspberry, Blueberry and BlackBerry goodness!! A side of toast and jam is only $1! Can't beat that bruh!! Shrimp and grits always a hit! They are usually out of the Stone Buenaveza Lager so you know it's damn good. I usually get the ube latte but I'm craving sweet today so I opted for the Oreo cookie latte and it didn't disappoint! It's always crowded, loud and good music. The staff is always on point despite the hectic rush no matter the hour. Bathrooms are clean, baby changing station in women's and men's but no gender neutral options. Always leaving in a good mood! Fat and happy! Give them a try! It's worth the wait even with no reservations allowed!
google avatar

Barbara G.

Yelp
Our server Monserrat G. Was absolutely amazing and kind. She didn't rush two girls catching up and tended to us with nothing less than a smile and helpfulness. Checked in often and was great in timing! Will be back

Yelp
The food is so good and very filling. The restaurant is crowded but as expected. Would visit again!

Yelp
Breakfast Republic always has solid food. I've tried their food at various San Diego magazine events but this was my first time eating at this location. Pros: -indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating includes outdoor heaters -they have their own bottle of ketchup and hot sauce -I ordered their omelet and it was super flavorful Cons: -n/a Other: -located in the same parking area as Trader Joe's.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was out of this world. We had a wonderful suggestion made by a young. I believe he was a helper or cook in the back. He told me to get the shrimp and grits and I listened so happy I did. The shrimp was juicy not overcooked while seasoned the grits were creamy yet had a little bit of texture to it so it had like you were actually chewing something. it had corn over the top with Gouda cheese, three eggs that were over easy so you have that yolk mixture in there. It was the most delicious dish I've had for breakfast in a long time then we ordered the American breakfast a side of bacon with pancakes the pancakes were fluffy big portions of the house style. Potatoes were crispy on the outside soft on the inside all the food was fresh for our drinks. I ordered the Mexican mocha iced it tasted so delicious. It tasted like the Abuela Coco if you know you know, we also ordered the mocha latte hot, which was very delicious. Do let it cool down because they serve it to you piping hot I would recommend this place 10 out of 10 but like I say you try then decide
google avatar

Susan S.

Yelp
My sister took me here for breakfast and it was fantastic! Everything was great but I love the Jurassic bacon - thick cut candied applewood smoke bacon with paprika and cayenne. This as a side of their brioche French toast was a perfect weekend breakfast. Even though this is a local chain, it has a local small restaurant vibe.
google avatar

Jeff F.

Yelp
The best time to arrive here is when they open at 7:00 AM to avoid the crowd. 7/26/2024. Shrimp and Grits ($19): simple but well-executed. The grits were creamy & cheesy. The shrimps were tender and slightly sweet. The corn was well-seasoned and added more sweetness to the dish, 5/5 stars! Harvest omelette ($17): a simple dish, but you can taste the high quality and fresh ingredients, 4/5 stars overall. Buttermilk pancakes (+ $4 upgrade to sub bread option): this was a surprise, as it was your typical pancakes you'd get at any breakfast eatery, 3.5/5 stars. I had high expectations for these pancakes after sampling their elevated entrées. I'll be sure to get flavored pancakes next time. Coffee ($4.25): their coffee has a bold flavor that woke me up before and after eating. Our server, Kevin, was thoughtfull and offered a refill to go, 4/5 stars!

Yelp
Came for my moms birthday today, and the wait was 45 mins, we waited. Then we all ordered the steak and eggs, everyone around us that came after us got their order, when I asked the waitress she was very nice and said she will check on it. When she brought it was cold and hard. I told her and she just remade the steaks, the second time around they forgot the chimichuri sauce and the steaks were EXTRA chewy. I asked for bread 3 times to remind her. The waitereas was nice but the food quality was horrible. We shouldn't be feed cold steaks and hard. If I could give a -5 points I would

Biggs J.

Yelp
Outstanding. Eggs Benedict were perfect. Eggs poached exceptionally. Hollandaise was traditional plus. Service was excellent and very friendly. Even the Latte was excellent.

Yelp
Definitely love this breakfast joint! All the decorations are cute and unique with some menu options hanging on the wall, very cozy and welcoming. Service was excellent, very helpful and attentive! We like everything we ordered especially the Benedict! Coffee was smooth and strong just like when you got it from a coffee spot which was wonderful! Definitely recommend this spot if you like to have a hearty American breakfast! We will be back for other food on the menu :) Love it!!!

Yelp
A ceramic chicken that dispenses syrup from its mouth. Love it. I like the variety of options on he menu and the food tasted great. Love having a Breakfast Republic in Miesa Mesa. The space is small inside, but it works out.

Yelp
Having not eaten all morning after traveling, i came here very hungry for brunch. I was so glad to see so many GF options available on the menu. Breakfast jambalya?!?!?!? Say less! Ordered! The jambalaya came with sausage and shrimp with scrambled eggs. So flavorful with the perfect amount of spice. I thought the eggs on top would taste weird but it didn't. The portion was pretty generous and I couldn't finish it all. Glad we ate here during my visit to SD!

Yelp
When we arrived, the host was wonderful, but we ended up sitting right next to a one-year-old that was well being a one year-old. The place was not full, so I don't know why she sat us there, but we stuck it out. We had water and ordered breakfast. The yogurt bowl and eggs Benedict. The cluck Madame. We loved the yogurt bowl. The cluck madame was cold when it arrived at the table completely cold. They offered to warm it up, which would completely ruin the eggs Benedict, and then offered to make another one which we unfortunately did not have time to do that today. But after trying it, it was so good I decided to eat it cold. I will go back and try it again, hoping that the food comes out at the right temperature this time. I have to say I was really surprised that they didn't at least offer a discount.

Yelp
don't even think about it definitely order the fresh squeezed orange juice! It's a Friday morning and I got seated right away! All of the staff are very sweet and attentive! I got the Tres Leche's vegan pancakes and let me tell you they did not taste vegan they tasted like heaven! 10 out of 10 would recommend coming here for breakfast. They have an extensive menu that gets you something sweet and something savory. There's definitely a plate for everyone who comes to breakfast Republic!
google avatar

Yelp
Dang, California does chains right! This place has the snappy service and efficiently out of a chain with the inventive and local food items like you would expect from a mom 'n pop. It was hard to even determine what to order, I wanted everything! Because this is California, lots of items have a wonderful Mexican twist. Also, because this is California, the hot sauce is above average! There is a great outdoor seating area, and the coffee is firmly above average. The service was some of the best I've had in San Diego, I would absolutely come back!
google avatar

Dani P.

Yelp
Nothings has changed. Still VERY loud...LIKE A BAR! Very small, you can hear everyones conversations, the chairs when they move are like fingernails going across the chalkboard...the service is mediocre, and the prices are HIGH! I just wanted egg whites, avocado and turkey bacon $20...RIDICULOUS! Cross this one off my list....Can stay home in peace and quiet and make that for A LOT less...and the parking stinks here too.............

Yelp
SAN DIEGO, CA: Busy breakfast restaurant that closes at 3:00pm. It's tight inside with tables, and so it goes in great breakfast cafés with limited hours. Patio is lovely. Quick, efficient service with a waitress who could explain the menu with expertise and honesty. Split between two of us: California Breakfast Burrito. Loaded burrito that was more than enough but delicious enough to force feed on. I dare you to eat it all in one sitting. Check out the ingredients online. Very tender Skirt steak and everything else you would want in a breakfast burrito. Summed up with one word: Substantial. Get the Brussel Spout Potatoes. Or don't and miss out. Delicious sautéed brussels sprouts. I could've used more potatoes, but maybe it was just this particular day. Or maybe sprouts are just the star of the side order. Observe every corner of this place. It's just so interesting the objects on the walls coffee mugs the beer glasses. If you look carefully cute sayings are everywhere, including the bathroom sink. "The secret to success: don't tell everything you know." I can tell you this; I would eat here again and order the same thing and be totally happy. Ambience: Charm commingled with clever everywhere.

Dianne G.

Yelp
Food was ok, service needs improvement. Our server rarely checked in on us after our order was taken. We had to get up numerous times and ask for missing items - utensils, straws, napkins, drinks, etc. and each time we got up to ask for something the servers were just standing around the bar just chatting. The restaurant was not packed. Never going back to this location. Other locations in San Diego have better service - Mission Valley, Liberty Station. I would recommend going there instead.
google avatar

Myrna G.

Yelp
Great brunch spot! We got there at 9 and it wasn't too busy but by the time we left at 10 there were definitely more people waiting outside. Food was great and outside seating available if you want to bring your pup out!

Yelp
We were in the area and our choices: Denny's or Breakfast Republic. Service was great, the merch is hilarious and the bathroom announcements had me rolling. They were playing "Got 'Til It's Gone" by Janet Jackson and then a woman's voice says something like, if you've run out of toilet paper please let us know. Then another song came on and a voice says "ladies please sit for the whole performance! " Now for the food. It was okay. I did like my CLUCK MADAME but the potatoes were way over cooked, but some people like it that way. I like a soft middle and a crisp outer layer. The egg was cooked perfectly! Next time I'm going for the pancake flight since I saw the kids next to me demolish it within minutes. They were all about the Oreo pancake.

Yelp
I stopped at this Breakfast Republic for a quick coffee and bite. I ordered the organic nitro cold brew and the cinnamon ginger coffee cake with walnuts. The cold brew was great. It was a lot better than I expected. It was smooth and rich and quite enjoyable to drink. The coffee cake was very flavorful, but it needed better texture, especially its bottom and top. A slight crunchy effect would have made it bliss. Either way, it tasted great, and I loved the addition of the walnuts. I sat at the bar, and the server was super cool and provided good, friendly conversation. Nice visit and good staff. This location offers a lot of outside seating.

Yelp
Our server Monserrat was sooo sweet and amazing! She was very accommodating to us and sure we were comfortable. The food was amazing as always 10/10. It was busy, but they seated us very quickly!!

Wanted to meet our friends to exchange our xmas gifts so recommended this place as we love the one up in Seal Beach. DOG FRIENDLY & nice patio so plus for us but we didn't have our pooch this time. Got some grapefruit mimosas which are good. Me and our friend got the Breakfast Burrito and both of us didn't like it. It was more a potato burrito than anything else. Our friend got the Chilaquiles breakfast ordering it with eggs over easy. When it came, it had scrambled eggs so we had to flag down a server to get the eggs he ordered waiting for a little bit to get his full breakfast. We all ordered at the same time, my wife ordering her's 1st. The rest of us all got our breakfast, but not my wife. Took a little bit to flag down a server as it was pretty busy, to ask where her food was and were told it wasn't entered and they'd get it made as quickly as possible. They did give my wife a free 2nd mimosa to make up for it. My wife ordered the Presley french toast that she always loves at the Seal Beach location. It was okay here, but it was turned upside-down on the plate so the peanut butter was more out of it than in it. So all said and done, was disappointing.

Yelp
I came for breakfast on a Saturday morning with nine people and I know that's a large party. It's so hard to accommodate, but they have several places in the restaurant on the patio to accommodate large parties. So we didn't have that long of a wait. The service was very good. And didn't even mind splitting the bill. I ordered the chiliquilles and they were phenomenal. I highly recommend them. Previously I have had the turkey hash. It was OK. The pancakes also are only OK. If you're looking for fabulous pancakes no place beats Snooze. My friend had the burrito and she absolutely loved it. another friend had the protein pancakes and they said they will be back.

Yelp
Had brunch here. The service was good. The place was nice looking. Got the Jurassic pork egg benedict and a side of hash browns. The hash browns were tasty but would prefer they were cooked more. It had bacon pieces mixed in. The benedict was sweet and flavorful. Different taste than a regular benedict. I would come back to try other items in the menu.

Yelp
Ok, long wait, but if it's so worth if if you are ok with that! I recommend maybe going asap in the morning, as they do not accept reservations. The parking lot is shared with the Trader Joe's, so make sure you drive a bit to find a good spot. It gets crowded fast. Now, the breakfast cocktails were yummy- nothing to ride home about, but overall pretty good and a nice selection. I love that their coffee cocktails have coffee ice cubes, but I believe they had milk, so I didn't order one. For breakfast, I had the Cluck Madam Benedicts. Yum. Very good, but I'd likely order something different next time. I found the potatoes a bit dry and lacking flavor, but do note that I prefer hash browns and not diced potatoes as my breakfast side. My husband ordered the chilaquiles and he said he liked them so much that he'd order them again. I tried a sample and they were indeed delicious. I will say that this place HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK with their pancake flight! WOW! I'm someone who prefers savory foods for breakfast, but I definitely enjoyed their food more haha. We ordered these: pineapple upside down, churro and cinnamon sugar roll pancake. I highly recommend these! This spot was family friendly and we enjoyed our brunch here. We definitely plan on coming back!

Yelp
Stopped by here with a friend. They have quick service...they told me 20-25 minutes and literally text me in 10! This was good and bad (I was in Trader Joe's and had to quickly exit too back. We arrived back and were quickly seated. Service was friendly and efficient. Our server came over right away and took our order. I sat and caught up with my friend as we waited. The ambiance of the place is nice and casual and they have indoor and outdoor dining areas. We told the hostess we would sit anywhere, so we got indoors. The food was okay. The best part of my dish was the sausage. I got the American breakfast with three eggs over hard (yay! They did them not runny--so many places do not get this right but they did!) and home fries. The home fries were the saddest part of my meal. The sour dough toast was good with my meal. The ketchup (not the typical Heinz) was bizarre tasting, as the least. Overall, I may come back here. But I think I will try lunch.

Yelp
Have visited other locations and this was a huge disappointment. Ordered the traditional eggs Benedict with breakfast potatoes. The eggs were average or below and the potatoes were cold and tasted like they were reheated multiple times. Other meals - the American and French toast; also average. Service was fair - server only checked back once. Restaurant is pretty small inside as well. $80 for 4 is crazy - only for food, no mimosas, etc. Definitely not returning - can find a better place for $80

Yelp
Great service again and tasty food. We had a view of the 30 minute parking and Trader Joe's, what's view when you got good food.

Yelp
I've been to multiple Breakfast Republic locations and this was my first time at the scripps ranch location. The menu seems the same as all the location. There isn't much you can go wrong here. Everything we had was flavorful. The jam was amazing with the toast. The house potatoes aren't as seasoned as I remember in comparison to other locations, but the food overall was delicious and good portions. The servers were very sweet and interactive with my baby boy. We were sat outside pretty comfortably.

Yelp
I went in during the week to get their protein steak bowl. I tried their Encinitas and mission valley location previously and was craving the bowl. I was appalled of how terrible it was! I asked for my egged over-easy they were over cooked, I asked for the steak medium and it was jerky. I wouldn't mind but at almost $35 for coffee and 1 meal to be terrible all the way around.

Yelp
Had high hopes for this place. Was disappointed all throughout. Hostess not friendly or welcoming. Service is slow. Worse of all coffee tasted like tar, worse coffee I've ever tasted, McDonald's coffee is way better. Ambiance is ok, although I was not thrilled being sat outside.

Yelp
Cool little breakfast spot in San Diego. Had stopped over here before my way to the airport back to Las Vegas. Had breakfast with my sister in law and her sisters. Ambiance was cute and had IG worthy pictures. Hope to visit again soon!

Yelp
I found this place via Yelp. My wife was attending a work training course for her job in the area. I dropped her off and came here. This place had great ratings and I wanted to to see it for myself. I had a shrimp omlette with white bread and potatoes. The food was pretty good. The price was good as well. I agree with the ratings and I see why people come here. The ambiance was that of a breakfast spot and the service was very good. I would come back here if I lived close. Check this place out if you are in the area.

Yelp
Ok, finally returned to Breakfast Republic per the invitation of manager Oliver (who responded soon after my original review). Rather than giving the overly used two-sentence generic public response (often simply denying the reviewer's claim), Oliver sent me a rather lengthy private message in an attempt to actually RESOLVE the issue! It was this genuine personal interaction that inspired me to respond knowing that customer satisfaction was his goal. First, it's important to know that they did not treat us any differently than the other guests (which is exactly what I was hoping for) lest our actual dining experience be artificially enhanced. Manager Enid was the host. I won't go into detail other than everything was fine. Although my original review stands (since ALL ratings count), hopefully this review will help increase their overall rating. This is why it's important to read follow-up reviews because just as much as they can go from good to bad (and yes, I've posted a few of those too), they can also go from bad to good! Even better, most people read the low-star ratings to find out why they might want to avoid a business, but when they see it was corrected that encourages them to patronize the business that truly wants to provide a great experience. Striving to achieve customer satisfaction alone is worth 5-stars, and Oliver indeed made things right. So yeah, opposite my previous statement doubting any return to Breakfast Republic, I will be back!

Yelp
Glad they have solid vegan options. I have tried almost all of them and like them all. The vegan pancake is so good too.. the price is a bit on the expensive side for a breakfast option and also the service is not so great sometimes. The sitout spot is very cool and nice in good weather. I have done take outs as well and they follow instructions correctly.
